MI Survivors

I'm excited about 5-1, thanks for letting me join the MI survivors group. I have some scans coming in the next few weeks, I'll be ready for that break by then.
-
Put me down for the lunch - I have to be in Detroit around 5:00 that day. Hopefully I'll have enough energy for both activities. I'd hate to miss out on meeting all of you, though! At least I'll have a few hours...

Wonderful! It's been quite awhile since we've had such a large group for lunch! Looking forward to meeting the new ones and seeing the old ones.............deja vu, think I already said that!
Hugs,
Denise
-
Am I too late to join in for the luncheon??
I *think* I can make it.
I still need to sign up for the walk too. Unfortunately I won't be able to collect a lot of donations like usual, got laid off once again. sigh.
-
It'll be SO good to see you!
-
JUDYROCK - So good to hear from you! I was just telling Neesie today that I was going to call you. Must be my threat of a phone call worked.
Hey Girls I received my Komen packet. Looks like the shirt sizes are running about the same as last year. Survivor shirts are a darker pink. I like the new design of the white t-shirts. My survivor shirt is narrower then the white. Seems like the white t-shirts are roomier.
Just a reminder for those of you that want to join us for the walk but may have difficulties and can not participate in the walking part. There is a trolley available for individuals who may need assistance at the walk. I believe you have to sign up for the trolley and I am sure Nancy can fill you in the details.

Judy - of course it's not too late to join us on the 1st! I'm happy you checked in.
Team Wings of Hope:
This is just a quick reminder that you have until May 4th to sign up as part of the Team and get the reduced rate for the Komen Race for the Cure. If you have friends and family that would like to join us, please pass this on. We have 15 members so far and many more who say they will be joining us. Don't forget that fund-raising is nice but it is optional. I know that scares some people off.
Early bird package pick-up is May 8th. Irene and I will be there and anyone else is welcome to join us. Just send me email for the details.
There are many new survivors from Michigan on the board this year. Like Wings said, if you are not up to walking, there is a trolley for survivors. You just need to get your name on the list. Send me a private message or email for the details.
Finally, it is a shock and heartbreaking to see so many angels from bc.org this year. Those from my year left me reeling. I feel that my little part is to gather the team and walk another year. I hold onto hope that they will find a cure.
To the other Michigan Teams:
We'd love to meet you and you are welcome to walk with us and/or meet us for lunch at Hockey Town after the race.
I'm thinking we should meet at the UPS stuff check site and skip the Team site this year. We have never seen anyone to take our team picture and even if we did, we have a hard time getting us all in one spot that early. We don't want to miss the survivor cafe and goodies either. What do you think? I promise I'll bring my cell phone and put it on vibrate once I figure that one out!

Okay, I am finally caught up. May 1st it is for Williamston at the Red Cedar grill-noon..... This is great.
-
Just checking in. Whose name is the Williamston lunch under?
I'm really looking forward to meeting all of you!
-
I'll put it under my name. Suzette - is that ok with everyone?
-
yes, this is so cool. See you the 1st!
-
Works for me, Suzette!
See you all on the 1st!

Hi Girls,
Hope all is well with everyone.
Did anyone else get tickets for the Detroit Tigers Survivor game on May 10? My family and I plan on attending. I know that all the complimentary survivor tickets have been reserved. However you may still purchase tickets for the game.
Sue ICanDoThis and I attended the game last year with our families and had a great time. All the survivors were invited onto the field before the game. We also were able to meet and greet the players prior to the game and took some neat photos.
Go TIGERS!
Wings
-
That's so great that the Tigers do that. Have fun Wings. I'll watch the game on the 10th and cheer you on from home!
-
Ok, reservations are made at the Red Cedar Grill for Saturday at noon. Can't wait. Reservations are under my name, Suzette. Not sure of the final count but they can adjust accordingly.
-
Thank you suzette. Well of course chemo fog has kicked in and I realized last night next Saturday is dd's prom. I am still going to try and see if I can pull this off---go to lunch in Williamston and "help" her, which really means take pictures and all that. I will try, because I so want to meet you all!!!
-
How far away do you live Jess? Hopefully you can join us for a little bit. However, I know how important prom is, especially for the girls!
-
Hi to all!
I see Judy has been found!! For the newer girls here, this is our secret weapon..............there are 2 or 3 'phone shy' gals here, and usually the threat of calling them will bring them around!!!!!!
Looking forward to seeing and meeting all on Saturday! Hope the weatherman changes his tune about the weather...............sunshine would be so nice!
Hugs,
Denise
-
I am two and a half hours away from Williamston-give or take. Well, still gonna see if we can move some of the appointments around. Fingers crossed!
-
I hope it works Jess. Personally, I'm very touched that you wonderful ladies would drive so far so we can all meet. I know you've been doing this for a while but as a newbie, I'm just amazed.
-
I am excited about meeting all of you I am going to visit my brother and his family Friday night stay there and then come to Williamston. My niece is excited to see me so it should be a fun weekend!! I am about 3 hours away so this will break it up for me.
-
I'm excited to meet everyone and join this group. Jess, hope you can make it, but, more importantly, hope prom night goes well and your daughter has a great (and safe) time
-
Also, wanted to remind those of us from, or passing by, the Ann Arbor area heading to Williamston that President Obama is giving the commencment address Saturday and traffic is expected to be worse than usual that morning.
-
Good call kmmd...........I don't pass by there, but thinking Bonnie does. Heck I didn't even know the Pres was coming!
Looking forward to meeting all................and I will try real hard not to spill something on me or anyone else, which is my usual!
-
Oh my Neesie, I thought I was the only one that did that! I'll bring my tide stain stick (actually it travels with me wherever I go)!
-
suzwes, family member checked into it for me, the glassworks place is planning on opening at 2:00 on Saturday. That works about right? We'll probably be at least a couple of hours with lunch and talk etc before whoever wants to heads there after lunch?
-
I'm looking forward to Saturday. Is the glassworks place walking distance from the restaurant? I don't want to miss that also. It's supposed to be a little rainy Saturday but in the 60's. I can understand the long drive. I went to the Chicago get-together before Chris started this topic and we got to know each other. Thanks NotMe!
About Wings of Hope: We have 23 officially signed-up and 2 more trying. Everyone is having a hard time with the website. We only have until May 4th to join the team and get the discount rate. Don't wait until the 4th or you might not get in. Don't give up. I'll sign people in - just send me what size t-shirt you want.
Now for the Survivor count.....7 officially, 1 trying and many oldies missing!
Are we decorating our t-shirts this year? Give me some ideas, please! How about the sign?
See everyone Tomorrow!!!
Nancy
-
I can't wait til tomorrow - so excited to meet everyone. The Glass place is about a block and a half from the restaurant. There are also a few antique stores, a candy shop, a book store, a gift store and about two blocks from the restaurant is my favorite little store "The Silver Rabbit" - has gifts and items for home decorating - so there are lots of options if you want to look around. Also close to the I 96 Williamston exit there is a very nice antique mall. Lots of options!
See you tomorrow.
Suzette
-
Just checking in...........see you all tomorrow at noon! The few shops sound like they are right up my alley!
