I'm here and super busy also! It always takes a threat of a phone call to get me to answer!
kmmd - You just described a perfect afternoon for a Michigan get-together in Williamston, MI. I just checked out the map and it is 21 miles West of Howell. It is a long haul for most of us but seems doable. Any takers?
Gotta go - I snuck a minute to post from work. Bad Nancy!

Thanks kmmd - it has really gone through ups and downs since my family moved there when I was a little girl in 1970. It's obviously up right now. Love the glassworks and the Red Cedar Grill and the Bucket is a great place te eat too. Lovely bookstore if you ever have time. The grocery store is terrific - always busy now - so much better than the previous grocery store.
It would be great to meet on April 25th. Maybe we can PM each other closer to the date and agree on a meeting place.
Edited to add: Nancy I just saw your post. I'd love to get together for an afternoon in Williamston with anyone who wants to travel here. Howell isn't far at all - just a few exits west of the Outlet mall in Howell.

I'm in

HA HAAAAA..............knew I could get Nancy and Irene on here with a small threat!
Williamston works for me.......just hope it's a sunny day. We do have Sun In MI, don't we?
Someone throw a couple dates out there and let's see what we can do.

If we want to wait until May, Williamston is having an Art Walk on Friday and Saturday May 7th and 8th. It's the first year they've done this (that I'm aware of). Friday the walk is 4-8pm and Saturday 10 am -2 pm. However, I'm open to most dates (of course I don't have to drive very far to get there!).
-
I have been to Okemos area how far is Williamston from there?
Wings
-
Williamston is one exit east of Okemos if you're traveling on I-96 so they're next door neighbors.
-
Suz, I may try to make it in May too!
-
YEA SPARTANS!!!!!!
-
Yeah Spartans indeed!
-
Love those Spartans - I bleed Green! My parents lived on campus when I was born almost 50 years ago so it's ingrained in me!!!
-
I can't do the weekend of May 8th, and would rather not do Memorial Day weekend, but other then May 8th I'm there and excited about it. (bringing my credit card I loved the glassworks shop!)
Suzwes, Of course, you're talking to someone who visited Merindorff's (not sure of the spelling) in Williamston and put the meat on dried ice to cart all the way to MN because my MSU grad son living in MN at the time missed Merindorff's so much. -
Merindorff's such great meat and a darned nice selection of unusual grocery items too.
I'm good with any weekend that works for the most people. I don't believe I have any Saturdays that are taken in the next two months (for the first time in my life I think).
-
Okay, I am interested in the Williamston gathering. I live near Mount Pleasant, Michigan and so the drive to Lansing is not all so long. Tell me more!!!
-
Hi everyone!
I am getting more and more excited as spring is here and the Detroit walk is coming soon.Enjoyed reading all of your posts and have to share about being at a local mall today. I parked my car and right next to me a car with a MI license plate!!! That was really neat to see, in NC, from my "adopted state" that I love and its wonderful people! It was 90 yesterday here....hot but beautiful!
Best to all of you and Happy Easter for those who celebrate. Thinking of everyone,
Iris

I'd love to join the lunch that is being planned. It sounds like fun! I'm not yet done with everything-starting radiation in a couple of weeks - does that make me eligible as a "survivor?" I feel like one now that chemo is over
I haven't met anyone in this group before, but I think it would be nice to meet people that have been through similar experiences ...have you all met each other already?
Is anyone going to the Detroit Walk on May 22? My daughter is setting up a team ... if anyone would like to join us, please IM me. Our team is called "Sue's Crew" and I'd love to have others walk with us, too! -
Hi and Happy Easter to all...........
Glad to see our NC friend (adopted by MI) has stopped in!
Seems like we are having a difficult time setting a date for lunch.......sometimes it comes together easy, others not so easy. We'll figure something out!
Michlady.....Sue, all are welcome here! You must live fairly close to me, I'm not far from Grand Blanc at all.
You asked about the walk! We All will be there on the 22nd.!! Team Wings of Hope...........Nancy (sphynx) put our team together years ago.............YEA NANCY!! It would be nice if we could combine the two teams.............but if they are both registered I don't know if it can be changed. In any case, we will see you there and maybe you all could join us at HockeyTown for lunch afterwards.

Does Wings of Hope have a big sign and/or meeting place prior to the walk? Maybe my team (very small) will meet near Wings of Hope. Yes, Hockey Town afterwards would be great. How do you manage that - isn't the team quite large? I hope the lunch does come together ...
-
Happy Easter to my fellow Michigan sisters,
How about if we meet to have lunch on Saturday, May 1st at the Red Cedar Grill in Williamston at noon. Then whoever would like to shop can stay and shop in the afternoon. We can start with this date, time and place and if this doesn't work we'll tweak it until it does work.
The link to the red cedar grill is http://redcedargrill.com/
When we decide on the time and place, I'll make reservations so we have the best place in the restaurant to chat and relax.
-
Sounds good to me suzwes, I'll put it on my calendar right now
-
Putting it down!
-
I can do Saturday, May 1st. Hoping some of the other girls see this soon!
Denise
-
I think May 1st works for me, looking forward to it. Love to shop in smaller towns, no supermarkets or malls!!!
-
I'll bump this thread.
So far I count 5 of us, hopefully more can join us. It will be a fun day.
-
Please put me down for a "maybe" for the Williamston lunch.
JudyRock - Have not heard from you in awhile. Hope all is well. Don't make me do a Denise threat and call you!

I'm in for May 1st.
I can't believe my long post just $#** vanished! I count nine to eleven including conversations through email. I had them listed, honest. Please send me a private message if you want to be on an email list.
What time are we meeting?
Michlady - yep, you are a survivor. I count from the day I heard the news. Everyone is welcome to meet before or after the race. Hockey Town always has plenty of room.
Looking forward to meeting the newbies and getting big hugs from you oldies. Where the heck is JudyRock?
-
Ohhhhh, I sense a trip to Jrocks house soon!! Rounding up our MIA posse!
Hugs,
Denise

Hello to all my MI neighbors! I'm Valerie, I probably posted a year ago, don't remember. Just never get over to this thread. (shame on me!)
suzwes invited me to join you fabulous ladies in Williamston on May 1 & I would love to meet you all. So, even though I am 1 year-5 months out, I am a newbie to you. A lot of your names are familiar & some of you may have seen me around.
Good night!
-
I'm so glad you can join us Valerie. I'm really looking forward to the 1st!
-
