    JO,

You're right, every little bit helps! I'm glad to have a scale that measures digital so you can see 1/2 pound.  It helps keep positive energy going.  It seems no matter what you have, losing weight is the thing recommended first.  I wonder what they tell skinny people?

Having exchange and lift/reduction done tomorrow.  Just got call from hospital that surgery is at 7:30am have to be at hospital at 5:45.  Good, I'll be too tired to be hungry but I know I will be thirsty.  Have to drink a lot of water before midnight!

OK--I'm giving up till Christmas!  It's SO hard!  Starting back 12/26.

I am down a total of 15 lbs...lost about 5-6 since we started.  Not that great, but I lost so that's all that matters.

Going to give it a REALLY good try starting 12/26 as I'll only have about 8 weeks till my DIEP surgery (yikes!).

Kelley,  GOOD LUCK with your surgery tomorrow!!!! Mine went well.  I had it in September.  Within two days after my exchange, I was pretty much back to normal. Very little to hold me back.  Just a little tender but FAR from the mastectomy!!  I will be thinking about you!!  So glad you Kayaked!!  I have always wanted to do that!!  I live in Ohio so it will be until next spring before I can.  Anyway, keep me posted on your recovery!! Smile

Lost my first post - trying again.

Kelley, trusting you came through your surgery okay today and looking forward to seeing you back posting.

Well,  I was in DisneyWorld for 5-1/2 days.  Went with my DS who is a Disney fanatic but he also has cerebral palsy so I spent 4 of those days pushing him in a wheelchair around the parks.  One area we did not have a wheelchair was Downtown Disney and since he walks with a cane in his right hand he only had his left hand to hold my right hand for assistance.  That meant I supported a lot of his weight on my right, BC, side. Frown  So I am utterly exhausted and even had to take today off from work to continue my recovery.  But, the up-side of all that is to say that I'm down 5 lbs!  Now, to keep it off.  Wonder if unpacking and laundry will count as exercise?

    Hi All,

Surgery went well, only minimal pain and I have Vicodin for that.  Can't wait to take bandage off tomorrow and take a peek!  And take a shower!

I'm originally from Ohio and I see a couple of you ladies are as well.  Which part.  I grew up in Canton.  Moved to Florida for weather. Love it here.

Patoo, great news about the 5 lbs and yes, unpacking and laundry does count for exercise, plus all that walking you did.  Hope you enjoyed the good weather in Orlando.  We live about an hour and a half away.

Have to go rest before dinner.  Take care ladies!

    JO,

Yes, know the area.  I actually grew up in Stark county, went to GlenOak HS.

    Mona,

I'm glad to hear that you didn't have any problems from exchange.  I'm anxious to see how they look. especially the real one!  I think it's interesting how they move the nipple/aerola.  definitely go kyaking when you get the chance in the spring, I think you'd have a great time.

I've pampered myself today so it's back to better diet tomorrow and perhaps a short walk.  I cannot regain the weight I've lost.  It will be interesting to see if the saline implant weighs more than the te.  Anybody know?

Off to bed, I'm tired again from being up a while.  Take care ladies.

Kelley, so glad to hear your exchange went well!!  Good for you!  Saline implant weight.... I told my husband they were 10 lbs more than my breasts! Wink

I live in Wauseon Ohio, just west of Toledo.  LOVE THE SEASONS!!  I love the warm weather, but could never give up the changing of the seasons.

Well, even though it's only 18 degrees today, I am going to bundle up and go on a 3 mile walk!  Trying real hard to not get any fatter!!!  I am starting to look like a huge Christmas Bulb! lol

Good to see you back!! ~Mona

JO, I knew about Hoovers and it's a shame.  Very sad driving through there.  It really hurt North Canton and some of the surrounding areas.  I don't know how many were employed there but I knew there was a lot.  Hopefully, something can get rebuilt there in the near future.

Mona, I know where Toledo is but not Wauseon.  It's very pretty there with the lake and all.  I miss Fall the most, all the colors, crisp air and hiking through the state parks.  Good for you going on your walk.  I remember having to bundle up lots cuz I did not tolerate the cold at all.  You're too funny, I'm sure you don't look like a Christmas bulb.  Enjoy the Holidays, just don't over indulge every day.(easier said than done).  We all just need to keep in touch and support one another through these times.

I'm a little nauseated today I think from the anesthesia still so haven't eaten much.  Will have a light dinner and hopefully tomorrow will be better.  I took the bandages off and they look pretty good so far.  I know there is some swelling and shifting that needs to be done.  The implant side looks like it needs to relax a bit.  Will talk to dr. tomorrow when he takes this drain tube out.

Hopefully I can walk a bit tomorrow.  Don't feel like it today.  I don't want to over do and regret it!  Take care ladies and have a great night.

Kelley, glad to hear you are healing pretty well.  Take it easy on yourself.  If you have to take a day or two off to relax do that - it's really, really important.  Your body has just been through trauma and needs time.

Mona - kudos to you for walking in 18 degrees!  Way to go.  I make excuses when it gets below 50 but I'm really encouraged by you.  Unfortunately by the time I get home from work it's dark and I'm not walking then but maybe I can find some time on the weekend.  We'll see.

patoo, I better get use to walking in the cold!!  It's just the beginning! :)

Kelley, Actually I've been pretty good the last couple days with the food intake!  Tomorrow we are going out to dinner and I'm excited about that, but am keeping in mind that I am in a responsible habit right now, and try not to break that.  Went to the doc on Wednesday and discovered I have not gained!!  Wished I would have lost weight, but staying the same is ok for me right now! ;)  I have been wondering how your recovery is going!!!!  Stay well!  Take care!  ~Mona

Hey Mona, glad to hear you're doing well and haven't gained weight.  I agree, staying the same right now is good.  Love your new picture.  I'll eventually get a picture here but will need the help of my kids.  I'm thinking I'll wait til after Christmas.  Im doing Ok, still taking Vicodin and antibiotics, and still get some nausea and I'm tired.  I got the drain tube out yesterday and felt much better after that.  I go Monday to get some of the stitches out. Lord, I have a lot of stitches this go around and they are starting to itch.  Still haven't gone for a walk, just don't feel up to it yet.  I'll let my body tell me when it's time.  I've been off the Femara for a while because of surgery and am not looking forward to start taking it again tomorrow.  My feet and hands don't hurt now and I know once I start that again, they will.  UGH, and I have to take it for 5 years!  But from what I've read, if you have the joint problems, it means it's working.  It's worth it if it keeps cancer from coming back.  Enjoy your dinner out!

Patoo, thanks for reminding me how important it is to relax.  Sometimes I'm too impatient and want things back to normal as quickly as possible.  This time, I really need to take it slower.  I'm getting tired and need to go take a nap.

I'll talk to you ladies later.  Have a great weekend and take care.

Still maintaining my 5 lb loss.  Shoveling 10-12 inches of snow for 1-1/2 hours this morning helps.  Going to try and keep it up.  Have been pretty good about my eating habits, cut out sweets and watching portions.  If I can just motivate myself to regular exercise and plenty of water it would certainly help.

Uhhhhh, didn't mean keep the shoveling up!  Actually will start pricing snow blowers because I'm just too old to do this.  Expect to have lots of body aches tomorrow.

    Everyone enjoy your Sunday.

Patoo, it's great you're maintaining your 5 lbs.  It's really tough.  Be careful shoveling all that snow, it's hard work.  It's exercise and a half!  I think a lot of people don't realize how much work it is.  If I still lived up north, I would have bought a snow blower by now.  Hated shoveling the 3 car driveway,(but, you know, by the time you got to the end only one car)  only to have the stupid plow come by and block it again!  By then you have all the rocks and frozen ice in the mix. Boy, I was a lot younger then and it was tough.  You need to take a nice hot bath and relax.  Take care and enjoy your Sunday.

LOL Kelley, the plow did come back while I was out there and he knew from the look on my face that he had better learn how to plow properly so as not to put the rocks and packed ice back in my way.  He and I worked together as I picked up his ice from an earlier pass and threw it into the middle of the road and he then made another pass and whisked it away.  Didn't have any cash on hand or I would have tipped the guy!

Now searching and reviewing gas vs electric snowblowers. It's only a 2 car single-width driveway; no sidewalks, so electric just might work and is eco-friendly.

You go JO!  What is this anti acid diet?  Why do you need to be on it?

Patoo, I agree with JO about the gas blower.  My DH always says the gas powered tools/machinery work the best.  But get what's best for you.  Go to the store and try to push the things.  I'm so glad the plow guy was good to you, there are some nice ones after all.   You deserve the best!

Well ladies, I started baking tonight.  It's going to be tough to be good and not grab a cookie or brownie every time I go in the kitchen.  I wasn't going to bake but know that DH and kids love the goodies.  Will make a couple of other cookies tomorrow.  Only making single recipes this year, usually make at least a double or triple in years past.  Will be as strong as I can.  It is what it is, right?

Have a great and relaxing night.

Thanks JO and KAK - appreciate the info.  I will go for gas only if I can't get an electric that has ALL good reviews.  I really didn't want to do gas because of the size and the yearly maintenance.  I'm alone so if I can't get it into the car to take for servicing at season's end it won't last too many seasons.  It's also lots bigger than electric.  I know what you mean though about the cord and also gas being more powerful.  I'll just have to do the research and then go try them out.  Think Lowe's or Home Depot will let me take a couple home for test drives LOL!

KAK, if you eat the cookies standing up they have no calories.  Unfortunately, your body remembers you ate them when you do eventually sit down.  Wink

JO, ditto - what is the anti acid diet?

patoo, good luck on your search.  Not sure if stores will let you "test drive" but you can always ask if they have a return policy if it doesn't work out.  Plus, a lot of these places rent them but I know it can be expensive that way.  I never heard that one about the calories, made me laugh.  I needed that this morning, for some reason I'm grumpy.  Maybe cuz I walked through the kitchen and didn't grab a cookie! lol.

Got on the scale this morning and weighed the same as before surgery.  I thought maybe I would have lost something considering I haven't eaten a whole lot this past week.  Who knows, maybe new boob weighs more.(but real boob was reduced a bit?)  I guess it could be that all I've done is lay around most of the day.  Still haven't felt like going for a walk. I think I may have to push myself today once it warms up a bit.  I have to go get some stitches out this afternoon so maybe when I come back from that.  Have to go for now.

Good grief JO, it's a wonder you weigh anything at all!  What is a typical meal for you?

Granted I don't do fried, carbonated or spicy - all by choice - but what can you eat that has substance and tastes fairly decent.  Veggies just don't cut it for me as a meal by itself.  I'm lactase intolerant so cheese is out.  Find myself making lots of soups this time of year.

    Hi, guys!

We got 20 inches of snow!  I am SO buying a snowblower!  Good to know about gas and medium sized because I have to be able to maneuver that thing.   We have a large curved driveway.  I shoveled 3 hours and then my neighbor's landscapers came and did the rest...for $60! I am so sore!!!

I start baking tomorrow!  Choc chip cookies, and I found MINT choco chips which I will use, chocolate cheesecake, coconut cake (reminds me of snow), and turkey dinner with all the fat and yummies!

    I'm starting again 12/26...I promise!

JO, you do have a lot going on with the plumbing, don't you.  Is this something that has happened recently or have you had problems in the past?  I'm curious because it seems a lot of things bother my stomach.  I always say to DH "oh, it must have been something I ate" and his reply has been for years that it's everything I eat.  It seems better for a while and then not.  I really should keep a food journal to see what really bothers me most.  For a while I blamed the estrogen I took.  I think it really does rip up the gut.  Now I have to worry about the calcium supplements and Femara.  I guess we just need to do what we have to and go on from there, right?  BTW, I was just talking to my sis-in-law and she sad it's snowing!  She said kind of a wet snow.  Hope you don't have to go anywhere today.  Take care and relax today.

Patoo, how are you feeling today?  Did the shoveling make you use muscles you haven't used in a while?  I know I remember feeling like, where did that muscle come from?  Usually took a few days to recover.  Soups this time of year are great, even down here.   Just finished a veggie soup I made a while back and put in freezer.   Only problem with soup is I love to eat fresh italian bread with it.  YUM!

Cake, glad you had help shoveling.  Take it easy today and enjoy your baking.  Good luck to you and patoo on finding a snow blower.

I'm feeling pretty good so far this morning so I think I will go out for a walk.  It's been a week today since surgery and I need to get back some energy.(stitches are itching like crazy)  It's chilly here so I will have to bundle up.  Sun is shining though!

    Take care ladies.

JO, you have given so much of yourself, it's no wonder you have stress.  Bless your heart for taking care of so many people, it's hard work, physically and emotionally.  I'm glad the Nexium is working for you and you can cut back on the BP meds.   Every little thing helps.

I walked for about a mile yesterday.  I probably could have done another 1/2 mile but I didn't want to  overdo the first time out.  Will have to do more now that there are lots of cookies in the house and I just can't resist all the time.  I'd love to say heck with it and wait til after the holidays but I know myself and that won't work.

I need to go out to the store today.  Hopefully, it won't be too bad with traffic and people.

    Take care,

JO - good news about the BP.

Kelley - walking in the store is considered exercise.  So combine it and walk around the store a few times.  If it's in a mall that's even better since you can mall-walk which is great exercise and you get to browse all the windows and wonder about all the 'funny' people.  LOL

Patoo, I love to people watch but was too tired today so I just ran in the stores and got what I needed and got out, went home and took a nap.  I guess the walk in the parking lot was far enough away from the door in 1 store.  Course, you have to dodge other drivers while walking.   It's funny how drivers think they always have the right of way or they are busy on their phone, or just not paying attention.  Thanks for reminding me that any type of walking is exercise!  I actually walked over to my neighbors when I got home for a minute, then walked back.  Maybe I did more than I remember.  Hopefully it was enough to cover the cookies I ate today.  LOL  PS. I did eat them standing up! Hope you're keeping warm and not having too much snow again.  Take care.

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a festive Xmas.

Just a little update. I was able to eat ok during these last 2 days or so. I didnt deprive myself, I just watched portions ect. I have started to do a running program its called Couch Potatoe to 5km (in 8 weeks). I have been doing it on the treadmill. You alternate running and walking...running and walking. For 20-30 min.

I am struggling, but determined. I have always wanted to take up running but have always given up because it was difficult.

I actually did go to the gym yesterday, On Xmas, but just did weights, no cardio. Still havent weighed myself...lol.
