    Aw, Lucy.  (((((((Lucy & Hannah)))))))))

    (((((((Cheryl)))))))))

    ((((((((((Elaine)))))))))))

It's interesting that we are all talking about this today, we who are as a group the kind of women who try to see the glass half full.  But it all just gets to you sometimes.  I've been so crabby myself lately, turning my life inside out and upside down for over a year now just to work around this damn disease and its aftermath.  A year of this fatigue is too much, plus the fact that because it's gone on so long, I feel worse now than I did 6 months ago because it's worn me down.  It was really hard to go back to work after my two weeks off because I really only had one good day in three thanks to the darn fatigue.

And work was exhausting, although I do enjoy it and I really love to meet new people and at least help them feel a little better during our visit if for no other reason than just listening to them the way we all listen to each other here.  I'm so grateful for that.  And of course, I had a patient yesterday with cancer, colon cancer with liver mets, who was about my age and is jaundiced and not looking at all well but trying to be brave, because we women are so brave.  Too many of us.  Just too many.

Here's a photo of my GF's daughter and her buds from when they were about to start their senior year in high school.  This is us in our hearts, where we are still young and have never had cancer.  Love you all.  We are fortunate to have found each other.  This is defintely one of the nicest collection of women on this forum.   (((((((((Dust Bunnies))))))))))

BTW, has anyone noticed the "Cancer Coach" thing on the home page here?  Does that woman with the short, slicked-back hair look like a stereotype of a women's prison warden to anyone else??  Or is it just me???

Barbe - you over-done good!  Slow down girl!

Kathi - PT is hard work - I am going to outpatient pt and I noticed that my therapist are bending, stooping, lifting - no wonder you are tired.

Here are some answers to the question "Are You Ok?"

    Do I look okay?

"Okay" in what sense of the word?

Other than feeling like I was run down by an 18 wheeler - I am just fine.

I might feel better if you ________ (fill in the blank; e.g., wash the dishes, do the laundry, give a 10 minute break so I can rest, etc.).

And the best - "NO" - if nothing else, they will stop asking you that stupid question.

I don't know where I came across this, and don't know who wrote this but it seems appropriate today.....hugs

    One Flaw in Women

Women have strengths that amaze men.

They bear hardships and they carry burdens,

but they hold happiness, love and joy.

They smile when they want to scream.

They sing when they want to cry.

They cry when they are happy

and laugh when they are nervous.

They fight for what they believe in.

    They stand up to injustice.

They don't take "no" for an answer

when they believe there is a better solution.

They go without so their family can have.

They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.

    They love unconditionally.

They cry when their children excel

and cheer when their friends get awards.

They are happy when they hear about

    a birth or a wedding.

Their hearts break when a friend dies.

They grieve at the loss of a family member,

yet they are strong when they

think there is no strength left.

They know that a hug and a kiss

    can heal a broken heart.

Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors.

They'll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you

to show how much they care about you.

The heart of a woman is what

    makes the world keep turning.

They bring joy, hope and love.

    They have compassion and ideas.

They give moral support to their

    family and friends.

Women have vital things to say

    and everything to give.

HOWEVER, IF THERE IS ONE FLAW IN WOMEN,

IT IS THAT THEY FORGET THEIR WORTH.

So sorry for the gobble-dee-goop in the beginning- can't figure out how to get rid of it.Tongue out But this seems to say it all, women do so much but when it comes to ourselves we just keep quiet, don't speak out for what we need, not the material things but the emotional, health, healing stuff. Why is it so hard to say "no, I'm not ok""I'm scared, I'm overwhelmed, I'm want my mommy and daddy to make this nightmare go away" Men do it, kids do it, why not women?

I don't know how to respond to that question. What do I say? "I'm having my other breast removed next month, and how are you?" Most of the time, it's the usual "fine" or "good", but I don't feel fine or good. I feel like crap. The best I can do sometimes is say that I feel like I'm 105. I also love it when people say, "So everything's ok now?" Well, that depends on what you consider ok. My assistant pastor asked me how I was after church one day and I asked him, "Do you want an honest answer?" What is an appropriate response to someone (like a co-worker or acquaintance) who asks how you're doing? Is there a polite but honest answer?

It is almost like a habit - I have caught myself sayig "fine" to doctors - then I have to stop and revise my answer to "great, that's why I came in today."  Or, a offshoot of what you said "Do you really want to know?"  Of course, my personable belief is that the question "How are you doing" is rhetorical at best; however you should be able to tell the truth to family and friends.

I was playing bridge at the Senior Center and it was announced that " Bill " was 94 years old that day.   When asked how are you, he answered: " I am still kicking, just not as high."

Well I'm still kicking, but already not as high as I remember just recently. LOL.

By 94 I hope that I'm still shufflin' along.

Big dusty-buns hugs all up & down the thread.

Seems like we've been in a collective 'funk' -- I know that I must do battle against the gray clouds, and loss of sunshine.

but I'm playing a new game with myself and it seems to be working........ more laughing

    I call it: "Coonie's Coming"

I pretend that she's coming over tomorrow & in my enthusiasm over her arrival, I find myself able to attend to the glorious details of emptying the dishwasher & doing laundry with a bounce in my step.

Today I'll play "Coonie's Coming" to motivate me to get all packed & ready for our early morning departure. We're headed to Tennessee. I have a wonderful opportunity to present at a conference there on Fri & Sat.

Now if I could just find my happy pants and get myself moving.

    Coonie's Coming!! Coonie's Coming!! Coonie's Coming!!

I couldn't play the "Coonie's Coming" game because if I did all that work and she didn't come then I'd be SO disappointed.  I guess I need to work on my imagination.  Maybe I'll just imagine my house IS clean AND "Coonie's Coming".Laughing

Mum - lots and lots of very gentle hugs coming your way

"Coonie's Coming"... interesting way to get motivated. Dh decided to get some friends together for dinner at one of our favorite byo places, with drinks before at our house...really good motivation for him. So many "things" have been fixed, repaired, replaced; I have gotten him to purge piles of things, to actually DO something with all the things he is going to do something with. Although the house looks scattered about, its actually much better! There IS hope and a light at the end of the tunnel.Laughing

Good Morning everyone.   It is 45 degrees, light rain and I think I can safely put away the summer clothes.   One load is in the dryer and another in the washer.   Later I have to go to the bank, but otherwise, it may be a day to make some soup and stay indoors.   Hugs for all my BC friends, who know, who understand, who care and whom I love,   Nancy

Amber's cares are finally over and she is with her Lord.  Her body is whole again and she will be a heavenly mother to her children.  While I never met her, like so many here, I loved her.  I pray the Lord comfort her very large international family.  We love you Amber.   You will be sorely missed but never forgotten.

Oh Coonie...you make me laugh with the coming or going thing.

Was just  checking in before I go to work, am tired even before I go and do a full days work.
Read your post and just started to laugh until I was crying.  My husband turned to my kids 16 & 14 and jokingly said "kids see what drugs do!"

Love you guys, you make me laugh, cry and I know that we all understand each other.

KAK , also agree about the prison warden thing.

Hope you all having a peaceful sleep and I will now go to work

See you when you wake up
