Jane_M - my second mastec. is scheduled for 11/10, just one day after you! So much to do between now and then....but at least I'll be busy. Once the decision was made (tumor board recomendation) it was much easier than the tests, bx and waiting. But I sure didn't guess it would be so soon! I'll be thinking of you. And have a couple housekeeping details to finish before the enforced "No Housework" for sure!

Haven't really read back -- just popping thru to let you know that we are safely here.

It took us about 8.5 hours to make the 6.5 hour trip. We got stuck in some pretty severe traffic when we were only about 20 miles out.

We are in Gatlinburg...... had to make our way thru Pigeon Forge -- Dollyland & the land of a gazillion cars in the construction zone

It rained much of the day, and I'm so bummed that the colors are not out.... maybe about 20%.

We had a fun dinner @ Bubba Gump's Shrimp Place. Funny.

If we cross our fingers we may get to spend an hour tomorrow late afternoon in the Smoky mountains. It's nuts to be here & literally have an hour to 'spend.'

We did get to stop in the Berea Arts Rest Stop, that features KY artists from across the state. It's a glorious shop for some terrific folk arts.

Must go change my power points all around, cuz they clumped up my presentations in the conference program -- so I've gotta re-do everything, so that I can match what they've outlined.

I saw my presentation space. Tomorrow I am in the HUGE HUGE HUGE ballroom. Sure hope that some people come. You could all bring a 747 full of friends. LOLOL

    Just saw about Amber.

It's not any easier when we 'know' what's coming.

    Hugs & prayers to all.

Her blog is such a gift to her children. Something they will treasure as they mature & decades from now they will read & reread -- recognizing anew in their future maturity what a marvel they had for a mother. What a faith-filled individual.

It  is NOT any easier when you know its coming - you just get "accustomed" to the things the way they are and make that your "normal".  It is always a shock when death comes.  Amber has left her children quite a legacy.  They will always be surrounded by her love.

Wow Faith..You are only about 4 hours away from me.........I love the Smoky Mountains.....My DH and I honeymooned in Gatlinburg......

No it doesn't get any easier when we lose a sister....Even if we know it is coming and we keep vigil and pray about it, it still hurts.......I still keep looking for CTG and Zarowny to log on any minute......Silly I know, but they were the first ones to welcome me here so long ago.......I know they are our Guardian Angels now but it still hurts....By the way has anyone talked to Shane to see how Zar's kids are doing?........

    Hi

I'm off work today. Still in bed. My brain tells me all the things I should be doing, but all I want to do is lay in bed.I probably need to change my expectations for myself-set daily goals that are achieveable. Somehow get back into a routine that is realistic, balanced.maybe I'm dapressed. (Sigh) Any words of wisdom?

forget the shoulds, and have tos; listen to your body, your gut, your heart. Not easy, but let go of the things we're "suppose" to do and the things people "expect" us to do..spend time to decide what is right for yourself and family...thats the important stuff. Give yourself a break, treat yourself the way you would treat a dear friend--gently, kindly, realistically. Especially if you are still working (if I remember right you are in nursing? that can be a really physically and mentally demanding job)

    Hugs

EBW, wise words to Cheryl, I would just add, be the kind gentle generous comforting mother that you are for your kids, focus that boundless love on you and you will find you do what you need.

Hugs to all. I have tried to catch up. You are constant in my heart and thoughts even when I don't post. And I send you some of my peachiest heart felt vibes and hugs always.

Very demanding week. Have been doing loads of liaison and loads of mind reading at home to help DS's new school and DS cope and sort out the most important bits of his Special needs provision "on the ground". Been poorly still, little sleep and DH away nearly all the time at the mo. Never the less have taken on more jobs (which I pray I can fullfill) and intending to offer to do more for the new school  sp. needs co ordinator after she burst out in tears at a meeting this week, being that she is paid for 21/2 days a week and working into the night at home trying to do her best for the kids, God Love her! I also really want to help her get paid for more days, talk about a just cause.

Post Chemo fatigue update: Today was my 6th acupuncture session on the acute fatigue study. I feel it did help, it must have as I have been sooo taxed of late yet have managed to do more lately. I have now been randomized to the self accupuncture group for the second leg of the trial. I will do this once a week for 4 weeks then report back. KAK, you might want to give it a go?? Interestingly, having also started to work out, begining pilates and core stability stuff, I am getting tigling and prickles all the way down both arms when I cough. My lymphedyma nurse thinks it's untraping nerves from my arthritic upper spine, whatever it is, I do think it is helping!

Kids are devine!! you are all peaches too! That's my report, over and out ladies.

    nighty night! Shiny

Good morning bunnies!!! Hope you all are having a wonderful Saturday.

Barbe--I gotta tell you I read somewhere about your episode in the Walmart dressing room!!!! That could have been ME!!! You don't know how MANY times I've been caught, blouse half up half down over my body, can't move either way, panic setting in and wondering if I've just got to rip the thing off and pay for the damage later. Thanks for the laugh ...... LOL

Has anybody heard from Faithie since she got to the Smokey Mountains. I hope a bear didn't get her. Hope she's just having a good time wherever she may be.

((((Shiny)))) you're such a good mommy. That wittle boy is so lucky to have you for a mum.

((((Cheryl)))) hope you're feeling better today. EWB gave you some great advice. Wise words from a wise woman....sounds like she's been there and done that.

MUM---are you feeling better?? Sending you hugs and good vibes to feel better soon.

Sharon--- my sweet Canadian friend. Hope you have a wonderful weekend. Give doggus a slobbery kiss for me.....LOL.

Lucy--hope you're not working too hard and that you're feeling good.

Vivvy----any news we need to know about "tomorrow"?? Hope you have a great weekend too.

Kathleen---how's the shoulder healing up? My brother just had a shoulder replacement about 10 days ago. Got his staples out Thursday. Still REALLY sore, but glad the staples are gone. He's really young for a replacement (45) but his shoulder was gone.

Nancy---thinking of you and sending you hugs!

Arnie---where are you??Hope you're just resting up and gaining your strength back. Thinking of you too.....as a matter of fact, everytime I walk in my door I'm reminded of you......"Happy Everything".......LOL.

MaryRose---how are you feeling? Hope you're gaining strength too. It takes a little while to start feeling human again. Is the weather better there now? I know it is here......highs today in the 60's.....woohooooooot!!! Much better than 90 with 100% humidity and rain:)

Jayne--hope you're feeling good today too. How's it going? Sure hope you're hanging in there.

Jane--hope you've been doing good too and everything's leveled out for you.

2hands4me--it's good to have you on the housekeeping thread. NO housekeeping for you for a long time. Sending hugs and prayers that everything goes well for you within the next few weeks. As a matter of fact, no housekeeping for the rest of the year:)

EWB -- I think of you and your mom often. Hope she's feeling well. Give her hugs from the sistahs.

KAK--girlfriend, how are YOU feeling?? The fatigue still hanging on? Sure hope you get some relief from that soon.

Julz--miss you here and hoping you're doing ok. Hope you're not working too hard! Sending DS lots of prayers and good vibes for Monday!!

MAK--missing you! How's the DH and boys? I bet you're staying busy with school activities, etc.

OhioDeb---I wonder all the time how you're doing since you finished treatment? Are you feeling ok? Feeling back to normal yet?

BKC--how are the girls and Cameo? How are you doing? Hope you're healing up from that last little "remodel" job you were attempting.

MOM------we MISS you!! If you ever read along, I think about you often. Hope you're enjoying the time with your family. I'll never forget the night you called while I was in the hospital. It meant so much!! I STILL have my stuffed raccoon that reminds me of all of you everyday.

Thinking of you all today.........Jaimeh, 2new1s, Cathi, and anybody else my wee little brain cannot remember right now.

    ((((Sistahs))))

Hi everyone.   I dare not mention all by name, lest I leave someone out.   Coonie, you did very good, listing all of our sistahs.  On another thread here, they asked what do you say when asked How are you?   Some of the one liners are great.  My current favorite:  " I am still on the right side of the dirt" (meaning still alive).

The recent and still ongoing rains and MUCH cooler weather have left me with major aches.  And I slept 10 hours last night, with only one wake up to potty.  Better living with drugs (pain pill)... Fatigue is real.   Tomorrow is a concert by the Choral Society at the National (Washington, DC) Cathedral and my DIL is in the society.    Verdi's Requiem.

So, NO housework is being done, except some laundry, which still sits in the dryer...    Hugs and Prayers,  Nancy

P.S.  a new twist on an old song (for the older gals here):

    I'm safe & sound.

The bears did NOT get close to snatch me up.

    Long drive home.

Sleep in our bed tonight -- for at least a few hours, before I repack & leave tomorrow for a northern trip. (Yes, I know, it's really wackie to attempt this sort of schedule.)

Sometimes when it rains it pours. Just remind yourself that I had weeks & weeks this summer to store up energy -- for these bursts of activity.

My 'keynote' this morning was just so fantastic. I was what they wanted to hear. One big, happy, bunch of teachers..... enjoying every word of what I was 'preaching.' LOL.

Sometimes it's just so good, I gotta pinch myself.

Actually, the aroma now is California chicken.  Roasted garlic and thyme spuds.  Beets from our garden and squash with butter and maple syrup.  Soup for lunch tomorrow.

Coonie - you are incredible!  What a memory.  Thanks for asking about the shoulder - it is coming along - slowly but surely.  I think the range of motion is good - now we just have to work on strength.   Can't lift that arm higher than what I laughingly call my waist.

    Sharon - if I wasn't a vegetarian I would be right over.

Faith - you are wearing me out just listening to your schedule!

My laundry is sunning on the line outside.  Later today the aroma will be a tad 'fishy'.  Going to make fishcakes........YUMMER!!

    Okay, where IS Arnie?

Kathleen, glad to read good news about your shoulder.  It's been a long haul hasn't it?

Faith, you're going on the road again?  You are one of the wonders of the world!

Hi ladies feeling pretty good started going for walks and getting out of the house.I get to see my surgeon and finally get my pathology this Wed.I have been keeping busy so I don't have time to think about it.

My DD and her BF took me crossboarder shopping since our dollar is at par with the U.S.Had to buy new shoes anyway since I gained a whole size on my feet.We all went a little crazy with the bargains.Shopping can be exhausting. But it sure beats housework right?

Coonie how do you possibly remember all our names?  Weather is grand here I think I willgo for a fall walk and buy some fresh meat for my birding husband.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Lucy - how did you fall and what did you do to your hand?  You better be careful or you will be joining Jo5 and me - we are both thinking of wearing either bubble suits or hockey equipment!  Now dear Spar has fallen.  That would be great if I could do cartwheels - I could never do them before!

Coonie - that picture of the open french doors to a patio with just a gentle breeze is just what I need (minus cleaning the floors).

Mum - those photographs you DH takes are awesome - where do you live - on the grounds of a wildlife sanctuary?

Sharon - thanks.  It has been a long haul and its not over yet!  I wish I had a drop of Faith's energy.  Just a drop.

    Have a great Sunday.

It looks like the rain has stopped and the sun is trying to come out, but the wind is whipping around.   No mid day walk for me - did I mention that I HATE cold?   Where oh where did I put my favorite winter jacket?   Only 3 closets and it was hiding under a plastic bag to keep the dust off...

Verdi's Requiem will be performed at the National Cathedral this afternoon by the Choral Society - my DIL is a member of the society.   I hope I don't squirm around too much on the OLD, wooden folding chairs.  We will go out to eat after - maybe Mexican food.

I cannot possible remember everyone's name and will not even try.  Know I love you all and am so happy to call you friend.   Hugs and Blessings,   Nancy

Someone wants my soup recipe?.............it's pretty hit and miss.  But a hit this time.  I will have to figure out how I did it and write it down.
