Karen, it looks like it will be done on Monday, and my surgeon says it takes less than ten minutes, local anesthetic, and I can drive myself. No fasting or other prep. I'm just waiting to hear from his office about a time.
Hey, you're on the West Coast...it's not a patio. When it's covered, it's a "loggia", lol.
I'm home today, slightly bored, and even though I'm taking a vacation day, I've been checking my office email. Something's up...my boss wanted to meet with us individually today. I'm waiting to hear from one of my co-worker's what the scoop is. I hope it's just something routine, and not something dire.
-
Karen, I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lisa, you are just floating on cloud 9!!!!!! Enjoy and have fun!!
-
I'm enjoying all the good news!!!
I have some news. Good? Time will tell. My grandnephew got a dog who is now six months old. He has decided he needs a second job to get finances in order, and may eventually join the Navy. This means neglecting the pup, which he will not do. So I have been chosen as the new mommy. His name is Jasper. I met him tonight and he's just about perfect!
-
What a sweet new fur baby! Congrats Mommy!
Karen, your house is going to be stunning! How fun to share it with us to see the progress.
Lisa, have a ball! I mean...
...ah, who am I kidding!
Nancy, your boss is going to think you are off BECAUSE he wanted to see you! hehehehehe

My father passed away a short while ago. He's been failing this week, but my sister let us know last night that things were going down quickly.
I'm typing through tears of sadness and relief. I never wanted my sister to have the burden of fulltime care. She's only had him with her in FL for three weeks, but she was with us for the past six months being his advocate and caring for him while we worked.
I'm sitting in my father's room...my parents' room. Praying, thinking of them, hoping they've found each other.

Nancy, I was up in the middle of the night searching all my usual threads. I knew someone needed a hug....
I am glad your Dad is at peace, and you know he has found your Mom...
Hugs for the pain, sweetie.

Oh Nancy love, hugs and prayers coming your way - XOXOXOXOXOXOXO
You can be sure your mom and dad have once again found each other, I so recall the day my mom passed away (she was in my home) my dad had passed away 3 years before, she left us on 9/21, the weather was great, beautiful fall NY skys, at almost the moment the hospice nurse said to me she was gone a wonderful breeze came through my living room windows and passed directly over me as I sat on the couch, my heart knew it was my dad taking my mom by the hand and taking her home - It was wonderful.
LOVE MY DEAR FRIEND - XOXOXOXOXOXO
-
Nancy, very sorry for your loss. May your memories be a blessing. (((Hugs)))
-
Nancy, my heart has been breaking for you since I read of your dad's passing on Facebook. I know that he and your mom are together again. I'm sending you big hugs and many prayers.
Cathi, your story gave me goosebumps. What a sad, yet beautiful moment that must have been for you!
Hugs,
Karen

VERY special Cathi!

Thanks girls, loosing my mom was the most horrible/sad experience that moment and always recalling that moment makes her being away from me just a bit easier.
Hoping everyone has a great weekend.

Hi everyone! I have some fun and exciting news to share. I'm not sure that I've mentioned this here, but Portia is quite talented at applying makeup. She's going to move in with her dad, in LA, after she graduates. There are some pretty cool cosmetology schools in LA. She wants to get her license, do makeup for celebrities, and take acting classes. Her ultimate goal is acting, but I'm glad she has this other passion/talent to fall back on in case that doesn't work out. Check out her contest entry. I got on her case for not combing her hair before recording it, but she still looks cute.

Nancy, I'm so sorry to hear your sad news. I can understand that you have a mixture of emotions - you miss your dear dad and are remembering all the good times but at the same time, it is a relief that he no longer has any pain and is at peace. Big hugs.
Judi - what a dear, sweet face that puppy has! He is going to bring you great joy.
Karen, I loved the video of Portia. She has just the right personality to be a makeup artist and she makes it look easy. She's a lovely looking girl too. Good for her and congratulations on her doing so well!
Love to all,
Jane xoxox

((((((((((((((((Nancy))))))))))))))))))))), hugs to you my sweet sister. I read your post just now, and I was very saddened! Just know that you were such a wonderful and compassionate daughter to your father. I am sure he is reunited with your mother, and they are both at peace, free of pain, and looking down lovingly on their children. God bless your sister too. My heart and prayers are with you Nancy.
Karen, I can't see the pics here...but I am anxious to see how your home is coming along...I bet YOU are on cloud Nine too!! That's great about Portia!! Perfect that she can persue that and be with her dad as well.
Judie...a new puppy!! I can't wait to see him also!
Well....I don't have time for details about my "weekend", but I will say this...........I am still floating!!!!!! We had the most wonderful time together!! Lot's of laughs, talking, dancing, partying, eating.....oh yeah............and GREAT, I mean GREAT sex!!!

Barbe...........I think the passion we share...and the feelings we have for one another.........make it all the better. It was so weird...our comfort level with each other, it's like we have always know one another! Loving it!!!
-
I'll say it again....soulmate!
-
Hello, hope all had a great weekend.
LISA~~~~ you go girl!!!!!!!
Have a great week.
-
Nancy, my deepest thoughts have been with you all weekend. One breath at a time, one step at a time will move you through all that lies ahead.
Karen, Portia truly has a gift. I agree with Jane...she is a lovely girl.
Lisa, what can I say except NO FAIR!!! And, I suppose......enjoy every moment.
Yes, Sheila, Jasper's face is pure desire to be loved and to give it right back! I can't wait. I think he'll come live with me on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Cathi, your story is so touching. Having that kind of reasssurance would help make the loss more bearable.
Thanks Wren and Jane. I just hope I can live up to Jasper's expectations of me and that Her Royal Highness Agnes the Cat will accept him. She much prefers to be an only child. Schnauzers tend to do well with cats, but Agnes is not your usual cat. We'll see. Cathi, how is Margo doing with all the chaos?
Mary, I did have a wonderful weekend. My daughter and I traveled to Salem, OR to visit another of my daughters. I haven't seen her in far too long. It was truly delitghtful and refreshing. We drove to the ocean on Saturday. It's been far too long since I saw my ocean (I claim ownership of ocean waves from Oregon through most of Washington).
Now it's back to the life as an eBay queen. Hugs to all...Judie
-
I'm so excited for you, Lisa! It really does sound like you've found your soulmate!!
Love and hugs to all!

Lisa, Good for you!!! So happy to hear that you are happy. You deserve this! Keep on having fun!

Sisters, I need to vent. Cathi, I dedicate this rant to you. I'm sure you're feeling the same way.
My messy brother refuses to pick up his mess that's in our dining room. Now, I've already conceded that we won't be able to have any condolence visits at our home since the other brother is in the midst of moving rooms and the living room and den are topsy turvy. But they can be closed off with doors. Unfortunately, the dinnig area is open and is connected to the front hall. As soon as you step into the house, it is visible.
Messy brother's crap has covered the front bay window and table for MONTHS. Now it's started to pile up on the floor. I asked him to clean it up since people may stop to drop off a card or food...and I would like to ask them to step in if it's raining or just to be polite. He refused. Said he was too busy. And he said if anyone touched it, he would retaliate! How, I don't know, but it's given me the creeps.
All I said was I was going to put it in a box and down the basement out of sight. He already has crap spread around down there by my computer. He used my computer before I him kicked off because he ran through $200 worth of toner and then wouldn't pay me for it. So it's still a mess down there.
When I asked how he could retaliate against me (And WHY?) he said he would "take my stuff and put it down the basement, too, or worse." That doesn't make sense. I don't have piles of stuff around the house. He'd have to go into my room and open my drawers or closet to get stuff.
Anyway, I feel like I'm dealing with a psycho sick person. When my sisters get here in a couple of days, I may have a meeting with them and ask one of them to put the papers in a box and move them. Then let's see how he "retaliates."
I planned to move when my father died, but that was before my bc. Now I'm facing recon in a couple of months and that's certainly not the best time, so the move is on hold. But really, I have to get out of here.
-
Cathi, so at least we know Ed can get "upset" over something! I now have visions of him exploding in the house; I have to get those pics out of my head!
Okay Nancy, here comes my tough mother-love. How old is this child? 30? You know if your sister moves the papers, it is still you that will get the heat. Do you have a good friend that you trust? If so, have her over today or tomorrow. Sit in the livingroom. Let your brother see her among his crap. If he is human, he should die of embarrassment. Bury him with your Dad. If he is not embarrassed, RUN, do not walk, out of that house!
Or, plan #2, Move now, get settled before your recon. Let the bros destroy the house.
-
Nancy, I agree with barbe ..... get out of there now. Recovery following recon takes many weeks and if you are aggravated and upset it will interfere with your recovery. You need to take care of yourself and make yourself #1
