Our Escape

I am in Montreal Quebec this week.Today I will escape into the city.

-
Julz4- We have apples growing in the fence rows of several of the fields, we do not know what kind they are but several varieties are very good, they have some scab but very few worms, we have some identified as early we use for sauce, mid and late that we use to cook, eat and make cider, it is amazing the large variety of trees and how some are naturally resistant to certain problems. We just call them wild fence row apples! We are starting a small orchard and have Macintosh, Yellow Delicious, Honey Crisp and Jonathon, it will be a few years before we get apples, we currently have plums, peaches and apricots.

To all, it seems like several of us have sleep issues. I asked on the Tamox thread too but what do some of you use to help sleep? I like the way the ambien lets me sleep but fear too much is not good so only take maybe once a week, like tonight! Tylenol PM is out due to its interference with Tamox. Do some of you know if you took a sleep aid for a few weeks does it help you get into the rhythm of sleep again or once you stop taking do you stop sleeping? Sometimes pain, sometimes hot flashes, restlessness with no reason i can put my finger on seem to keep me awake, oh yea and of course having to go potty but that one I used to go back to sleep after!! Thanks for your input, day dreaming about sleep and not being tired.

My DD escaped to the North Woods in NH, went White Water Rafting. I got worried cause I had not heard from her all weekend. Thought maybe the raft tipped over. Fact was she just could not get any service in Gods Country. She stayed at the Balsams, thought they would have some internet thingy. She is on her way to London, then Paris then a puddle jumper to Nice, France.
-
I love your pictures too, Lisa! I never expected anywhere in Alaska to be that lush. My son's honeymoon pix were certainly more barren than that.
-
Phewww Deborye!! I bet you were worried sick!! I know I would have been. I'm so glad you've heard from her and she's having a good time. Sounds like she's on a "Great Escape"!!! Wish I were with her!!
(((( Checkum )))) -- hope you're feeling better. Don't work too hard. We're gonna have to get the cuzins together soon for a famleeeee reunion! Bubba's wantin sum of that thar apple pie
Hope all of you have a great day!
Today is 9.9.09------sounds like a good day for me to start a new healthy habit. Faithie has been asking about my walking. Well, uuummmm Faithie...... uh, well....I have been walking a "little" but not near like I should! Like no where near 52 miles!!! Great googa mooga!! You've got to have the best legs in the country!! Seriously, though, today I'm gonna get back to my healthy habit of walking. Doctor's orders......Faithie's orders..........LOL
((((((hugs to all of you))))))))) -
Deb, that's where I was on vaca last week. I can't believe the lack of reception. My hometown has very little service, you have to find the right spot to make a call, but I could not get any service in NH! Glad you DD is OK and had fun.
-
Good morning Escapees.
Just got back from my morning walk, it's a lot easier now that the mornings are cooler.
Hugs and happy day all.
-
Sharon's walking?? I thought it was Coonie that was walking! LOL.
I'm so easily confused.
Here's to EVERYONE walking, today!!
Nine minutes or nine miles -- you get to choose.

Hey Paula! It's good to see you. So are you starting back on your walking? I have to agree with Sharon. It is much easier when the weather starts turning cooler.

Just lost my whole post...ugh..hate when that happens!!!
Thank you all you beautiful escapees for all the good wishes about finishing chemo. I'm just soooo happy to be done with it!!! I'm still feeling a bit yucky...but it helps knowing I don't have to go through it again!!!
Hi "Nebraska". I don't think I've met you yet...that little guy in your avatar is a cutie! I'm an "arnie", that's what my gs named me...now both Trent and Lilah call me Arnie. Love it!!! lol How many do you have?
I escaped this past weekend and had a wonderful time with family... some of the great nieces and nephews put out a flyer Saturday morning that we were invited to their dance and skit Saturday night at sundown. Too cute! The oldest was 12 and the youngest 4. They danced to 50's music and then did a couple of skits for us. Adorable!!! We sat in our lawn chairs with those adorable kids doing their thing with Lake Michigan as a backdrop....great memory. I didn't know my little Trent could do the "strut" but I sure found out he did!!! lol He sang us a couple of solo's too... thought my heart was gonna burst!!! lol Wish I had a pic...but I forgot to turn the flash on and they came out dark...
(((((((((((hugs to all you escapees)))))))))))))

-
So glad you had such a grand escape Arnie!! Wonderful memories for you. I hope you feel well soon!!
-
Truly a perfect moment Arnie, glad you had it.
-
Arnie. I just knew that you'd have an emotionally-wonderful time. It is great to be surrounded by the kids and see their energy, enthusiasm and creativity all rolled into one.
I bet every year's talent show will be more & more spectacular than the previous.
Spent most of my afternoon yesterday tracking down the wedding details. It sure feels like everything's coming together. We've decided to throw a 'luncheon-shower-fun-hoopla' into our brief time together. The guys are all gonna be golfing..... so this wil be our girlie afternoon fun.
What a whirlwind. Can hardly wait.
xx00xx00xx00xx00xx
Happy escape Thursday.
-
Good morning Escapees!! It's Thursday!!! Another week almost gone. The year is passing by so quickly. I've noticed it does that the older I get

Sharon, I miss our captain too! I wonder if we paid her to keep watch over us, she could quit her real job? We miss you Checkum!!!
Arnie---I would have LOVED to see the skit! That sounds so neat! The honesty and openness of wittle kiddos is priceless. Just LOVE 'em!!!!
Big hugs to all of you today! Hope your day is wondermous!!!
-
I knew I had some other news to report. After riding 809 miles on my bicycle I am pleased to report that while the scales say I've only lost 3 pounds, I put on my wear-them-everywhere black pants of the fall season last night AND DRUMROLL PLEASE...............
They were seriously-sloppy-loose. So maybe Barbe's theory of muscle weighing more yada yada has some merit. In any case it was a highlight of my season. I hadn't worn them since late spring when they fit, a bit snug even.......
So perhaps I've made some actual "progress" after-all.
Yeah!!
Barbe..... are you inspired yet?? LOL
-
YEAH FAITH!!!! Can't wait to start exercising... he told me to wait until after rads...why's that??? He said I still may have "issues" with my blood counts!!! You go girlfriend!!!! I read somewhere that you were blowing the good weather across Lake Michigan and I just wanted to thank ya...because it was beautiful all weekend
How much longer til' the wedding???Oh Coonie...wish you could of been there it was hilarious...laughed sooooo hard. Someday I hope we can all get together someway somehow...would be a blast!!!
Thank you Barbe and Sharon...I'm so glad I went to...needed it!!!
I wanna go back...

-
Hi Mr-Arnie !
Good to meet you........ I have 9 Grandchildren altogether and my Fiance has 2 which I count as mine also
) The young man in my avatar is my Grandson Adam or as I call him "My Sunshine"Sounds like a good time was had by all. The little dolly in the picture above by Arnie2two is adorable ! and I'm an expert on adorable, I have 7 Granddaughters ! 4 Grandsons (counting the 2 soon to be step-G) They are the best distraction from this dreaded BC.
Blessings Escapees !
-
Take me with you next time Arnie................I feel like we ARE family.
-
Amen to that Sharon!!! The more the merrier!!
Nebraska...that was me both times...lol Mr. Arnie has an account but I've been using it since I had to create a "new membership" and can only post 5 times in a 24-hour period for awhile. Geesh! Did that make sense??? lol Wow, you are blessed! So 11 all together??? How awesome is that? I have a son that could still give me more grandchildren but he's in no hurry...lol You'll have to post all their pics sometime...I'm sure they're all adorable
