Dang, between my blonde brain and chemo brain - it is no wonder I can't do the math! I will be 4 months PFC at the time and I was so hoping I would have 2" of hair and could get a baby trim but I don't see that happening if I only have 4 weeks more to grow hair!
Laura - I plan on packing my nice soft pillow - the one that I have to steal from dh every night because he can't keep up with which soft pillow I want even though it is the only one with a striped pillow cover on it. You might want to pack one of your pillows also or take it on the plane with you. I have been known to do that before!
-
Great Idea! That is what Deborah is doing if she drives she said...
-
Well if there is a bed open I am in. How is that for last second planning Laura?
-
Jancie - I need it cool as well to sleep - so all the gals in our room are hot stuff! We will keep the air blowing really cool during the night.
-
Robin - that is great!
My poor husband, I freeze him out at night. In the middle of winter with 12" of snow on the ground and the outside temperature is 20 degrees - I have the bedroom window opened up at least 12" and I turn the heater down to 50. I also have the ceiling fan on so when we wake up, it is like a freezer in our room. I am laying in bed with just a sheet on me and he is bundled up with sweat pants, socks, and a sweat shirt.
I can't tell you how many times I would walk up around 3 am burning up so I would go outside in my underwear when it was only 30 degrees for about 10 minutes to cool down.
The nice thing now is that my hair is so short that if I take a really cold washcloth to my head, I cool down really quick.

Hi ladies...
last night I got my flight to Vegas. I will be arriving at 1:25 pm
much better than the 11:00pm flight I saw
for those that don't have flights yet check out Allegiant air ( non stop flights ) and see if they fly out of a airport close to you
the other night they had a flight drop to $39 before all the fees
mine was $139 but last night when I looked it was $79. But after all the fees it's $141 (and yes this is a one way ticket). I don't think I want to bring that airport home because it would mean leaving Vegas at 6:00 am so may choose a different airport which leaves at 3:50.
tonight I'm going to a wake of a running friends wife that lost her battle to breaast cancer. Today I found out my co-worker who's also a survivor grew up in their home town so she's going to join me for the drive and go out for supper with her mom when I'm done
cancer has brought such heart ache but yet so many positive things to my life
U ladies are one of them and this trip is another : - ) -
With reference to getting a little tan before Vegas:
I have been testing self-tanners and I have found the best one - I think the best I have ever used. And I have tried Clinique, Lancome, Estee Lauder - and all of the drugstore brands. This one is made by Bare Escentuals [they make Bare Minerals foundation] and you can buy it at Sephora, Ulta, online and at certain beauty supply stores. I saw this girl walk into the beauty supply with nicely tanned legs and saw her pick this up and buy it. She told me she has tried them all also and this one really works. So I bought it also. A really nice natural tan. It lasts through showering also.
It gets high ratings from most people who use it, according to Sephora's website ratings.
-
Please report back when you find out how long it lasts!! Thanks, JUDY
-
Interesting about the self tanner. Does it smell funny?
-
I like that one too Deborah.. FAKE BAKE is what I use.. LOVE it..no smell.. lasts...:)
So sorry Sandy.. I hate to hear this.
I hope tonight was ok for you and all your friends! God Bless.. you know I pray for these things sister. (((((HUG))))))
Ladies.. is it just me... or are we all getting excited for Vegas..:)
So many of you have sent me your cell phone #'s...I always feel better if I can be in contact all the time.. ( can you IMAGINE being MY child... poor kids.......LOL)
-
tonight meant so much to me to be there for my friend... He was shocked and didn't quite figure out how I got the info as in where the wake was at... he said something I thought was very special... he gave me his sympathy since I didn't get the chance to meet his lovely wife. Rich was an amazing caregiver and husband and so much more. I'm sure he will continue to be a great dad to their 2 daughters and will make Susan proud even when she is no longer here with us.
ok now on a happy note.... Vegas will be here before we know it : - )
-
I'm getting very excited for Vegas, including the drive up there with Deborah!! Has anyone had a massage at a spa since their exchange? I'd like to get one, but I don't know about laying on my stomach for that long.
-
Sandy ~
We were posting at the same time. So sorry to hear about your friend. It was good that you were able to be there for support.
-
just last week I got a 1 hour massage and it felt sooo good
when I went to her and had my TE I used to put a towel under my breast to help hold me up
do you feel fine laying on your stomach in bed?
-
I went to Vegas in 2008 with 27 chatters that I'd never met before ... I know those of you who are going will have an awesome time, and those who can't make it this year ...the chat group is trying to get a group together for 2010 and everyone from the boards is welcome too - there are many crossovers from chat to boards (like me!!) so it's never an exclusive thing. Anyway, I envy you all the joy and friendship you'll feel when you get together. My 2008 trip was a highlight of my life, truly. Hugs to you all.
-
It feels a little uncomfortable when I lay on my stomach. I guess if she positioned a towel to relieve pressure that might be okay. I want to get one even if it means I have to lay on my back the whole time
-
Mary, how nice of you to drop in and tell us this. THANK YOU! I think we are all getting really excited. We are going to miss one of our gals.. who feels it is not the right time to go...:(... but the rest of us are beaming...:)
Ladies.. I feel much safer now that I have all most all of your cell #....LOL LOL....
I think I gave most of you mine., I am off to work now.,, but will check who I did not send my cell # to... and get that to you over the weekend,.
I look so forward to time with you.
A massage sounds kinda great.
Laura secret<---------------------- I have never had a massage from anyone but dh...lol
Ta Ta... off to work...............
Sandy... that was really moving..
-
I had a deep muscle focused massage after my last revision surgery, because I has terrrible neck pain on one side. The therapist propped me up on one side. It was a bit uncomfortable, but certainly helped the neck pain.
-
Sandy-Very touching & special to make that trip!! EsteppI- I don't have a cell phone, I know some find that hard to believe. My Mom was always with me & she had one, so I didn't see the need, then after the accident, I ended up with my medical journey. I think the name tags are great-THANK YOU I go by Susie.
Quick question-were all going there the HOT FLASHES..has anyone heard of "Cool Sensations"? There are pillows & sheet sets. Suppose to help with the hot flashes. My primary Dr. gave me a pamplet for allergy control & these happen to be in it. Alittle spendy. Wanted to order them to give it a try,but then hubby lost his job.
Jazzy & I will arrive in Vegas at 11:18am-I think DV8Q is with us also.
Vegas here we come!!!
-
Bumping up......
Even though I am not going to Vegas, I will wear my Vegas t-shirt on Sept 25th...in honor of all my sisters.....Sorry that I had to disappoint so many of you....I will be thinking of you that weekend.....What about New Orleans next year and we can visit those great doctors that are at NOLA....LOL
-
Linda I love your new pix w hubby : - )
-
Ladies.. it is almost Sept...
ALL I AM GOING TO SAY... is once Sept. hits... it is ALL ABOUT VEGAS CHAT SISTERS!!!
Steph... where has your roommate gone??????? I have not seen her smiling face around here?
Wahooooooooooooooooooooo

If I knew how to post a link I would, so someone who can do more than type can help out! Under the chemo thread, go to taxotere, carbo. and herceptin and one of the last posts has a link to the bco group that has been meeting for awhile and they just met up in Seattle. It made the news! Denali was nice enough to put up the link to view it, but I can't transfer it here. It is a nice story. I think Laura GTO has posted pics of this group, as she is a member.
Also, I would love to go to New Orleans. Never been there.
-
I think this is the link & story...
I can't remember if I've already shared this with you all--chemo brain ya know? Please ignore if I did. This is a video of a group from BC.org who have been meeting since 2005! Each year they meet at a different city-this year it was Seattle.

...poking my nose in--you are all going to have such a great time! I have many fond memories of past get-togethers in Tahoe and in Vegas to meet some wonderful bc sisters! Someone take pics and post so all the "lurkers" here can drool!!!
