OK --- so I am mentally getting prepared for my exchange surgery on Monday and this morning I get a call from the PS's trial coordinator. Bad news, I cannot get a gummy bear without the sign-off of a Rheumatologist because I have had a previous diag of Rheumatoid Arthritis (even though I have been in remission for over 10 years.) So the drama starts --- we have already put in for time off - scheduled stuff around the surgery and I can't get seen by a Rheumatologist until NOVEMBER --- no friggin way am I waiting that long and keeping this expander in for that long!
So - now I am not getting a gummy - I am getting a silicone implant. My PS really REALLY wanted me to go the gummy route - but, I just can't go through anymore running around crap...
Hope I am making a sound decision..here... gotta go read up some more about pros/cons gummy to silicone. I think the silicone was softer and squishier which is what I wanted. The gummy is supposedly better because it is shaped - but it feels more solid.
-
Checkum, I'm so sorry to hear your news. I cannot offer any help but I bet there are plenty of others who can. Have you thought about starting a new thread with that question? Sorry you have to go through this, it really sucks!
((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))
-
(((((((((((((((((((((((Checkum))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
You have not had a simple road, have you? So sorry for yet more confusion & decision-making.
Gentle hugs, very gentle.

Awww Checkum.............all I can offer is a hug. Gosh, do they plot to put up roadblocks all along the way? Kind of seems so sometimes.

I called my old Rheumatologist today - he can't sign off unless he sees me, called my onc to see if he could help - no - my primary care guy I see tomorrow - but, I doubt he will sign off ... I keep telling them - this is my body - why can't I sign a waiver or something...
-
(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((Cindy))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
-
I think this is the story of my life - crap!
-
Nice of them all to let you know about this at the 11th hour................
-
No kidding -- that tells me how much attention the PS is paying to my medical history... NOT!
-
(((((((((((((CHECKUM))))))))))))))))))
Good luck tomorrow. I hope he signs off, it just isn't fair!!
-
Mumayan - if you are still to hot, why not have a bit of a fun:

Can I apologize now and just jump in? I got my hard drive back a couple days ago and managed to catch up on all threads except this one and Housework. They just move too fast!
