How beautiful Madison...may I suggest we send one to Riverinerabbit?......I PM'd you......

Hello, everyone! I started crocheting again to create squares for an afghan that the Rocktober Girls (a group that all started chemo in October 2005) are making for our friend Paula. (Rocktober Girl Laura GTO gave us the idea.)
So now I'm a crocheting fool and have been churning out squares like crazy. Could someone PM me the addresses of the border patrol ladies?
I just do single crochet and I presently have a bunch of squares (one color per square) in the following colors: Cranberry red, sage green, light purple and a chocolate-milk brown. Is anybody making an afghan that could use any of these colors better than another?

I have a box of squares that I have been working on FOREVER that needs boardering, who would you like me to send them too? I think there are about 30 or so.
I will continue to work on square but Im not sure how many I will make for awhile...I had changed to Femara and the after affects are nasty for me...I havent taken it in a couple of weeks but have really bad pains in my hands...Im not sure and neither are the drs that this is femara caused as I had issues with Arimidex as well....they are sending me for testing because they think I have reumatoid arthrisis (sp?)...I was told about 30 yrs ago that I did but I dont remember anyone doing any tests and the knots that they said was the largest sign of the disease went away after they shot them full of chortizone (sp?)....well anyway, now I have those knots on all the knuckles of my fingers on both hands, they are painful and limit my ability to crochet very much so hopefully they will get it figured out and I can start again....
Also I wanted to thank the lady here that shipped me the yarn that you will be recieving in this box...I do still have 2 skeins left and will continue to work with it until I have used it all....sorry it has taken me so long to make use of your generosity!
Best wishes to all
Jule

Julie, I know that I sent you some yarn a while back and if its the yarn that I sent, please don't worry about using it all. Just donate it a charity or use it however you wish. Give it to a friend who can use it. I hope they find some relief for you soon. Gentle hugs.
-
Jule,
I am so sorry you are having problems with the medications. I pray they can figure out what is causing your pain (and I know those knots on your knuckles hurt) and you can get relief from the pain.
I'm going to ask Liz if she needs the squares..........................
Liz, do you want Jule to send the squares to you? or I can border them and send 1/2 your way?
Thank you so much Jule........

Madison
Thank you for your thoughts...Im praying that it isnt RA but I suspect it is
..I have had pain with the knees & hips as well....Im going back to tamox because the onky said that if I have RA using an AI will enhance that so he doesnt feel that AI's would be a good alternative for me.
I will work (slowly) at getting more squares done for you ladies as this is such a wonderful project!!!
Let me know where/who to send the squares and they will be on their way.
-
Hi Jule, I was glad to see you post. I hope you feel better soon. If you get low on yarn, let us know. (looking for more reasons to shop here.....)
-
Julie, you can send them to me and I will share with Madison. I'm sorry to hear of your problems and am sending prayers that it isn't RA. Take care of yourself. Also, thank you so much.
Hugs

Liz - I will be happy to border ANY squares... just let me know. I will have another "box o' bordered squares" soon... THANKS FRIEND!

Thank you all for your well wishes ladies....
Liz can you pm me your addy please? I will get the box addressed and shipping in this weeks mail.
Donna-I believe you were one of the ladies that sent me yarn when I couldnt afford to buy it but wanted so badly to be in this project....thank you, and shop away girlfriend....it may take me a bit to work the yarn into squares but Im still chugging away just at a much slower pace
I go the end of this week for the blood tests to see if this is RA, but did speak with my primary over the weekend as she was in the office for a bit Sunday morning....She said because of most my joints hurting and the knots that she is almost certain it is RA. She said to try heat....ya right!!!!! she only lives 20 miles from me but must live in a bubble.....we are in the middle of a heat wave here!!!! Adding heat to my already overheated body is not something Im jumping for joy to do
I tried swimming over the weekend as we went camping but today most every joint in my body aches.
Oh well, onward ho ladies!!
Again, thank you all you ladies for your wonderful support and the hugs that those who recieve these afghans feel....you are all fanastic!!!!

We sent a hugaghan to Vicki Gallahue last month. We lost her the day after she received the hugaghan. Vicki's Mother Patti called me today to personally thank us for the afghan. We share tears........... She did tell me that Vicki's girls have the afghan as a keepsake from their Mom.
I am sharing the e-mail I received from Ms. Patti:
“Dear Dee,
It was very nice speaking with you earlier this afternoon. The afghan that Vicki received was just beautiful and will always be a reminder of the wonderful women of BreastCancer.Org.
Vicki received so much love, support, information and courage from the web site. No one knows what Vicki went thru any more than all her web sisters who are walking in her shoes, too. I pray that there will soon be a cure for this insidious disease that is taking our girls from their families.
There will be a Celebration of Vicki's Life on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at 2 p.m. in Evans, GA.
The Celebration will be held at the River Ridge Elementary School, where Vicki spent so much time as volunteer, PTO mom and being very involved in her children's education.
Vicki is survived by her husband, Kevin, her children Cameron (13), Morgan (11), Colin (9) and Madison (7), her parents, Val and Patti Reffett, her brothers Mark Reffett and Scott Reffett. “
Vicki’s Mom asked that I share this link to Vicki’s Guest Book:

Hi all,
I have been lurking trying to think of how I can make some "squares" to contribute. I am working on an afghan for my niece right now. I will have to look to see if my yarn is suitable. I want to be creative with my "squares", but they may end up being just plain little rectangles. I was thinking of using some of the dishcloth patterns... or maybe not.
Madison,
You had asked Holly/Lucy about Alpharetta and the proximity to Macon a page or so back. It is about 3 hrs from Macon. I know because I am about 2 hrs from Macon and Connie07 is about 3 hrs away from there, too. I answered because I was thinking it would be nice if the 4 of us could meet for dinner or coffee in Sept. when you come to Macon. Maybe by then I will have some "squares" ready and I can just hand them to you in person. LOL

Well, I'm a terrible procrastinator and haven't got to the post office to send my squares to the border patrol. <shame> I've got the address for MB. Is that who I should still send them to? I've got more than 30 7x9-inch "squares" in a variety of solid colors: cranberry red, sage green, medium purple and chocolate-milk brown, if that helps with the decision any.
Again, very sorry.

MB is a very good teacher ! You were right Liz---she taught me at Pinkstock ! Wish you could have been there. I'll be glad to help with bordering---not sure how quick I'll be, but I'll try
-
cmharris, I would love to meet up with everyone in the Georgia area in September. I will be there the first week of September.
Cindy, yes, you can send the squares to MB. I know how difficult it is to get to the Post Office....and how long it takes once you stand in line......thank you so much for your help.
I finally started on another afghan. I hurt my back a few weeks ago, however I did get a steriod injection Wednesday so I'm hoping to be able to crochet many hours this weekend.
Barb, MB is a great teacher. I definitely have to go back to Pinkstock so she can re-teach me how to knit!
Jule, how are you? Do you have any new information from your doctors?
Hugs and thanks to all
-
Madison - hope that shot is kicking in by now. I will be mailing out some squares tomorrow.
-
Hi kids,
Well whip me with a wet noodle! I've been swamped at work and some other issues but I'm going to try to finish the afghan I started last weekend this weekend.
Nancy..... my goodness! What a wonderful box of yarn. I will make sure every strand gets used.
Nice to meet everyone new.
Barb.... yes MB is a whizz.
Madison.... I need lessons again also! I can only remember a couple of stitches MB taught me. Talk with you this weekend.
Thanks so much everyone.
Hugs & Prayers

Who needs squares? I have over a dozen ready to go.
