Two sided tape is really a good idea, Barbe! Never thought of that.

And yes, Sheila, I would definitely need the strap that goes around the neck. You are not along - we ALL (most of us anyway) have the rolls around the waist that can turn into serious muffin tops when the wrong bottoms are worn - most difficult to get rid of and bathing suit bottoms make them so much worse.

OMG!!!! I'll have to confess that, like Raye, I'm a collector of swimsuits! I still have some from previous years that I never wore, always waiting for that "special" occasion (like the crystal & china?). How stupid is that? Anyway, those JCrews are calling my name!!!! I love the Jakarta string and all of the madras ones, but I need to remember that this summer is about wakeboarding, so the ones with boy shorts or, at least, more substantial bottoms and tops should be my focus. Ohhhhhhhhh, but I waaaaaaaaaaant another string bikini Yell!

I'm loving those bandeau tops, too.  I may even buy one to wear around the house with shorts for when it gets hot and humid.

Well, I met with Kathi yesterday and we had the nicest chat!  As you can imagine from her accidental amazon blog, she is a tall drink of water.  Made me feel very shrimpy. LOL  What else is new?  Her picture doesn't do her justice.  Beautiful eyes, long, long, lush hair.  And the dress!  WOW!  This bright tie-dye pattern on black.  No shrinking violet, our Kathi!  Great gal, as you would expect.

Can you believe we talked so much we never got around to shopping???  Laughing

Edited to add that I have been using my little Acer netbook and I LOVE it!

Tina, you are too kind!!!  And even though you may think of yourself as 'vertically challenged,' you are no shrimp!!

Our abbadoodles is a very lovely, intelligent lady herself with this soft wavey hair that fluffs down to her chin in a very flattering sytle.  But of course, we don't always appreciate what we have, so she decribed her hair as "frizzy," and I told I was using VO5 on mine now that there seems to be no natural moisture left in my entire body due to menopause and now tamoxifen!!!   Anyway, we had a fun, interesting, long gab.  Maybe next time, we'll actually leave time to shop!!

Wish you had all been there!  You were with us in spirit!

Oh, BTW, in honor of this thread, I picked up a little zipper pull tag to put on that purple leather bag I posted here a few months ago.  So, I carry you all around with me through the day.  LOL

I hardly ever use my desk-top, now that I've become more proficient on my little Acer netbook. It is so much lighter and less bulky than any laptop. I can fit it into any tote, and even my D&B handbag, And I do not carry the au courant massive styles.

    Another vote for the netbook!

Is it fast on the internet? Expensive to run on the internet?

barbe, do you mean the netbook?  If so, it is very fast on the internet, at least mine is, but you do have to have a fast service.  I have DSL, the slower one, but it is very fast for me.  However, I do not send or receive large files.

As far as expense, it doesn't cost anything.  I just log into my wireless network as I do with my other computers.  You can be online with several at the same time, too, unlike dial-up services.  I'm not sure about cable modem.

One thing I'm loving about the netbook is that it loads and shuts down so fast.  Like less then 15 seconds, I'd estimate.  That is because I haven't loaded it with programs.  It did come with MS Works loaded, but I am not using it for anything.  I was going to uninstall it but it doesn't seem to be slowing me down any so I doubt I'll bother.

My OS is XP, not Vista.  It also came with McAfee anti-virus, but I sh--canned that and installed avast.  I have avast on all my other computers and it does a fine job and it's free forever.

Oh, and I bought a new Dell desktop and it came FedEx yesterday afternoon.  Now I have to get that set up.  More headaches, I'm sure, but my old desktop, although ungraded with larger HD and more memory, still has the original motherboard and chip from 1992, would you believe!  It still works absolutely perfectly but is noisy because of the two fans (maybe the good fans is why it is still working!) and I was thinking I wanted a faster machine.  Wish me luck!

If your modem is connected to your computer with a cable, it is not wireless.  Wink

    It's connected with a cable...sigh.

Okay, back to fashion! I need help. Do I file my nails round or flat tipped? What is the fashion way now?

  • abbadoodles

What I have read is that the shape of the tip should mirror the shape of the little, white crescent at the base of the nail.  Okay, maybe not all nails show that crescent, but wing it.

Of course, this is makeup, not fashion.  If you want to be strict about it, that is.  LOL

I like a rouded top with square ends. Not overly rounded. Totally square is not in style, and either is totally rounded-- it's a rounded top with square edges that everyone is doing these days.

I want to post pics of all the athleta stuff I got. I literally got three of the reversible tankini's with the matching/coordinating Rash guard, then I got 2 pair of pants that are a lightweight cargo, then two pairs of Yoga pants, then three tops... I will try to post some links....

    Waaaaaaaaaah! Cry

I don't know what a rounded top (okay) with square ENDS means! I had rounded ones and they kept breaking so I just filed the ends square. So I guess I have rounded sides and square ends...?

grrrrrrrrrrrrr. thats so annoying Kathi. Sorry about that.

But I highly recommend the DIPPER pant for anyone that is looking for a very lightweight pant that has cute snap down pockets in the bum, and a zip snap closure in front. Zip pocket down by the calf on one side, and snap pocket on the other... it's a much lighter weight version of a cargo pant, minus the side pockets.

As far as the swimsuits- if you look at the tankini's that are reversible, they all have coordinating rash guards, and I am SO PLEASED with the fit of everything. It's funny... I thought I would order the number sized bathing suits- that go by cup size, and thats the one the didn't fit me well in the chest. The regular sized suits (xs-xl) worked great!!! The tops fit beautifully. I haven't gotten the maxi print dress yet. I wanted the black and white solid, but it was sold out so I got the black maxi dres print, and I'm afraid it may be too "busy" in the bust. We'll see when it arrives this week.

OH-- and I need to bring a few sweatshirts for the trip as well... and all of my sweatshirts are really ratty. They've been through the washer and dryer a million times... So since I'm embarking on a trip with other cancer survivors, I thought I'd sport some cancer gear. I went to www.cafepress.com and I ordered one grey pullover sweatshirt- it's so cute. It has a stick figure cartoon holding an IV pole with a red chemo bag attached and a bandana on it's head and it says I survived. Then I got a pink zip hoodie with a really cute right chest pocket area design of two pink boxing gloves and it has a pink ribbon and says I fight like a girl. Then I just couldn't resist the cutest pink tight fitted stretch t-shirt... it has the cutest little chick on the front and it says

One Tough Chick and underneath in smaller print it says Breast Cancer Survivor....

They arrived within a few days and everything fits great and is super comfy. Perfect for the trip.

I saw some great T shirts that say "I fight like a girl" on FB.  I want to get one.  I bought some workout clothes from the Breast Cancer Site as a treat to give me some extra motivation to return to the gym & as a reward for losing 10 pounds!!  Plus I needed new workout clothes!!  Pretty soon, I will actually feel like buying & wearing a new bathing suit!   Once I get a little of the flab sucked up, I'll be good!

Beth, you're going to have so much fun on this trip.

By the way, look up "xpectmiracles" on the members list.  You'll love her avatar!!  She's wearing boxing gloves & has a " I Fight Like A Girl"  tank on!!

Waaahaaahaa. I cannot get on any of those sites either, but am sure everything is just gorgeous.

Marin - what is wrong with having a string bikini and the sporty swimwear?

Barbe - Now I like to have my nails more squarish (is that a word?) than rounded. I just like the look better and as you say, they don't chip or split as much when I wear them square.

Tina and KK - so glad you ladies had a nice time Friday! I wish we could all meet for a weekend or something - wouldn't that be fun!

This Acer notebook has me intrigued. I have my work laptop at home (HP), which works wonderfully, but it is somewhat cumbersome to carry around, especially to travel with via plane.

    Well, let's see the bag.

I just love these dresses.  So simple.  Perfect.

    http://www.garnethill.com

Hartford Square Neck dress and the Shirred Knit Tank Dress in the print.  I tried to post the direct links, but they wouldn't work.

Beth, check out their backpacks.  I know they're kids, but the size is probably perfect for your trip.

Nice color of the Hartford dress - very summery. I also like the essential black dress - very cute. The backpack is a nice size.

Here is my new purse, I love it, easy to carry - just sling it over my shoulder. Downside - a bit heavy. Oh, and the maroon carpet - that's in my office, not my home.

Very cute, Raye. Are the buckles pink or is that just the photo?

I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for T-shirt style dresses...you know, very casual and just softly shaped, with maybe cap sleeves. I can't seem to find them anywhere and would love a closet full of them. I can't even find a pattern to sew up a few (Tina?). Hmmmmm?

Tina, I found some Eileen Fisher dresses at that link.  I love Eileen Fisher stuff.  Too expensive on that site, but when I find some on sale, I get it.

I got my box of workout clothes from the Breast Cancer Site & it's all great!!  Just simple stuff, but feels nice, really soft cotton tank-type cami's with a sports bra built in plus nice loose drawstring athletic shorts.   If this link doesn't work, this stuff is under "Pink Ribbon" clothing.  Helps buy mamms for women who can't afford them.

I LOVE Eileen Fisher but also find it very expensive.  There is an EF store in Northampton and it's just wonderful.

Marin, did you look at the dresses at www.garnethill.com  ?  The Cap-Sleeve Swing dress is only $58 and looks just like what you want.  Or,try the knit tank dress.  Good pricing.

Marin - Title 9 has one Tshirt dress with cap sleeves in light blue, but it is $59, which I think is alot for a Tshirt dress, especially after you pay shipping. Have you looked at the VS online? They have a lot of their summer stuff on sale right  now and some cute dresses. Speaking off, my bandeau bikini top arrived and while being very cute, looks a little ridiculous with the padding - I might take some of it out. It's like there are boobs in there, but no cleavage. ah, still seeking.

The buckles on the purse are a brushed silver, they look pink because they are reflecting the maroon of the carpeting.

abbadoodles - Have you ever gotten there the moment the store opens on the first day of side-walk sales? (Later this month?) I had such a blast there a few years ago (actually, the year I was doing threatment). They close off the whole back of the store with a curtain and it's one mass dressing room. Everyone  comments honestly on how something looks, there's always the, "If you don't want that, can I try it?" And cheap!!! I've been twice and come out with loads of stuff. Actually, the second year I went on Friday and there was still a ton of stuff left. (I may have to play hookey from part of my work day this year, now that I'm thinking about it.)

Kathi - where on FB did you find the I fight like a girl t-shirts? Gotta get me one of them for the party after my 2nd degree black belt test coming up!
