#7 woohooo

Still #7
I left a review that should make them vote you #1. I said:
Beth you have dealt with your breast cancer with grace and dignity. You deserve to win this to validate your efforts.
Let's see numbers 1-6 back out now!
-
xoxo barbe. We'll see how it all plays out... it seems much harder to move up then it was a few days ago...
-
Still 7 Beth. It might be moving slow, but I think you'll take 'em!
-
Still at 7 Beth... How long for the final results?
-
Have voted a few times since someone posted the link here. #1 girl is pretty sickly looking but has about twice the vote score, over 7500ish to Beth's 3200ish. People have no taste.
-
Still at #7 Beth....sigh.
-
Okay, so I just vomitted in my mouth a little. Well, not really. But I just placed my order with Athleta for all the stuff I need for Vail. I cannot even say what I spent.
I'm not even trying to justify any of it in my head. It just is what it is. The stuff will be here in a week or two, and I will still have four weks before the trip to try everything on, and return anything that doesn't work. The only thing I had to pay for on the trip is the Airfare. Oh wait, that's me justifying how much money I just spent.
All I need is a backpack (you'd think I could borrow this from almost anyone, but all of my friends stuff is WAY too big-- I need a small school sized backpack) and some sporty flip flops, and I should be good to go.
I need to move on with my day and not think about what I just spent. eeek.
-
Yeah, but when all the stuff arrives & it's fabulous, you'll get a big huge kick out of spending all that money, Beth!! LOL We LOVE retail therapy. Just voted for you again, Beth, & still you're at 7!!! But you will always be Number 1 with us!!
All right, girls, I'm tooting my own horn a little today. Just want to post a link to my blog because it harks back to a discussion I started here a while ago after I went to that seminar on oncology rehab. Well, remember I said I was going to try to do something about getting the surgeons here in RI to order homecare more regularly for women after breast surgery? Well, last night I met with the new director of the Breast Health Program at our local hospital & we had just a total mega-bond going right away & we're going to work on this together. Way cool. Plus some other cool things have gone on lately. And next month is my one-year anniversary of getting diagnosed. Unbelievable. I'm still soooooo tired, but I get jazzed up when stuff like this happens.

Kathi, I just had a chance to mosey on over to your blog to read about your project. Bravo! And, what an impressive CV.
BTW, I credit Susan Love's book with saving my life. Prior to my first dx back in 1991, I had been complaining about a tiny irregularity in my rt. br. My primary doctor thought it was nothing but did refer my to a bs. He did a needle asp. and it was negative, told me to wait a bit and see. I kept going over SL's book and just KNEW it was something nasty. Finally, the bs did an excisional biopsy and he was stunned to find it was cancer. Without the knowledge I gained from reading the Breast Book, I probably would not be here today. You can tell her that for me!
-
K- so all this time you've been voting for me, and I could've been voting for your blog!!! I just saw the link for the luxeawards.
I think the site looks awesome--and I'm glad you're pumped about the new director of the breast health program. Keep us posted on all the good stuff that we know you will do. When you reflect back on the last year, and write about it in your blog, you should store that entry in a folder... every year that you reach your cancerversary, it's interesting to see how your feelings change as another year passes. This August will be 5 years for me, and I know that from year one to now so much has changed within me.
In fashion news I just heard that athleta opened a store in the mall near my house...
-
ohhhh, what mall?
-
Thanks, girls! Tina, I will tell Susan when I see her!! Bethie, they had my link address spelled wrong on the SocialLuxe page, so I had to wait to start advertising big-time about the awards till they fixed it!! You can vote every day, ladies, once a day, till July 6th, for my blog in the Most Provocative category at http://www.socialluxelounge.com/blogluxe/# I have a new avatar now!
Unbelievable that it's been 5 years for you, Beth. I like that. July 24th is my cancerversary. If I can get the house a little tidier, I'm throwing a party. You're all invited!!
EWB, how are you feeling?
-
just up from my nap, need to shower and go to the party, as it is starting now
. I will raise a glass or 2 or...you get the idea, for each of you with prayers of healing and celebration for the good things in our lives. HUGS
-
Hey Beth, I'm on LI too. Where is the Athleta store?
-
6 - beth is no 6 and heading to 5
-
Beth, I love the photo you have on Brickfish for your profile, too! Still 6....
-
Kathi, I can vote at work and at home as I have different emails!
Still voting for you too, Beth!
-
Athleta box arrived today!!!! Okay, so almost all of it fits great- and I'm keeping all but one swim suit, one pair of shorts, and one pair of yoga pants... Everything else is going to be perfect for Vail. It's funny- I worked 10 hours today, and came home exhausted-- but as soon as I saw the box, of course I had to tear into it, and go crazy trying it all on.
tee hee... the things new arrivals do to us.
-
What fun! I'm glad you are happy with your order. Sounds like it was the motherload, for sure.
Did you ever find the small backpack? Have you tried the kids' section?
-
See, Beth?? Told you'd "lose the guilt" about the money!! Just voted again -- still 6, dammit!
Thanks, Barbe!! Love the 'double-dipping'!!! LOL
-
Oh, yes - I understand the excitement of the box arriving. My husband will call me at work and tell me that I have a box and it makes my day. I ordered yet another bathing suit top - I must have 10 bathing suits now - mostly bikini bottoms with sports bra tops. For a chick with no boobies, I really enjoy buying bathing suits. Very strange. Most likely, I am in search of the perfect suit for us girls who haven't had recon and am not giving up until I find it.
Beth - tell us more about your purchases.
-
Raye, watcha lookin' for in a swimsuit top? Have you seen the new J.Crews? Some of their bandeau top kinis have padding. They might be perfect with a little scrubbie in them.
http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_Shop_By_Category/swim.jsp
I esp. like the one with the ruffle bandeau top but I couldn't fit my butt into any of the bottoms.
Tina......Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't.
-
Other than sports bra type tops, the only other one that will work is the bandeau style. Perfect, Tina.
Specifically, one that won't slowly (or quickly) slip down and reveal my scrawny chest, while being able to hold a little padding for a bit of profile.
Now, I do love that ruffled one as well. And so many colors!!!
-
Two-sided tape maybe?
-
I looked on the site and it did say that there are optional neck straps that would help hold up the top. I liked all the tops, but there is too much of me to look good in those tops, unless I go with the bandeau with the long skirt to the hip line that covers the 'pillsbury dough-boy' rolls I have around my waist.
