Our Escape

Hi all, just found this thread- I think Sharon mentioned on Housekeeping that y'all are planning your escape...can I come too? Love anything near the water, but not crazy about hot weather. Nantucket is wonderful, spent several summers there as a child, honeymooned there (Fabulous guesthouse).
I would love to send a bandana or penent or what ever you decide! Thought about doing one of those 3 days but don't think I'm up for it (physically OR emotionally). Can I live vicariously thru you Checkum? The story of the older couple at treatment center broke my heart. With all my heart and soul I pray that I will live long enough to be one of those elderly couples, strolling hand in hand. Thank you for your efforts.

Welcome EWB. This IS a great thread. We have alot of fun and we're sooooo proud of Checkum!!! She's a strong lady!! So glad to have you here
-
That would be great! Imagine trying to explain banana shaped bandanas!
Rhubarb pie....yummmm

Hi EWB & Welcome to our little escape. We have a crazy (but FUN) bunch here and we love to meet new sista's. Of course you can live vicariously thru me. I plan on taking pics and letting you all experience as much of this through my eyes, as possible. Of course you all need to know that each day you will be in my heart (wondering when the heck can we sit down LOL)...
OK - so it is penants - no bigger than the size of a bandana (not a banana you jokers
) something around the size of 10"(top across) X 13" (both angles)... hey it doesn't have to be perfect or EXACT -- the main thing is HAVE FUN and be a part of this.... The top should have a 1" hem so that I can string them on the ribbon... hoping this makes sense.
Any color - anything goes this is our "coat of many colors" for Checkum's Foob Fighters LOL
-
MY DD is making me a logo for the Foob Fighters -- this ought to be interesting ... like an action figure punching cancer... LOL
-
YUM Jo Rhubarb crisp.....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Hey bananas bandanas penants I don't care just send something from your heart that I can tie on a string.
-
Also --- I have one team mate. To have a team you have to have a person on your team (go figure
--- she is just working on her donations.) Our team goal is $7,000.00. So if anybody out there Iis able to and wants to donate to the Foob Fighters, Leona Tripp needs to build her donations so that she hits the minimum.
Her link: http://www.the3day.org/site/TR/Walk/BostonEvent?px=3332338&pg=personal&fr_id=1292
She is my best friend from Nantucket and she agreed to walk with me to keep me company and be a team!
-
Where did those bannanas go???
-
We have lost our bannanas but we know exactly where the nuts are LOL
-
LOL --- what nuts
-
Welcome EWB!!!!!!
We are very proud of Checkum. I am not up to doing a walk emotionally and and very happy that others are. Someday I will be there!!
-
HA! LOL Checkum, I love this picture
-
So my reading of the dimensions sounds like we are indeed going with pennant shaped entries.... or a combination of pennants and more traditional bandanas???
I, too, will need your address -- when you have a moment, please PM me.
Big hugs for the training portion of the program.
Slow and steady.
When I looked into the three day, they assured me there was a 'bus' that picked up anyone at anytime for any reason. I considered it, thinking I might be able to plan to walk 10 miles each of three days. I congratulate you if you end up walking 10 blocks each day.
(((((((((((((((((((Checkum))))))))))))))))))))))))
-
Okay, are we bananas or nuts?
Pendant? LMAO, make up your mind.
-
Checkum, when do you need this for?
-
fruit loops
-
I'm lost!
-
-
Hugs Jo!!!
-
Regarding those who are fruit loops, nuts and bannanas. I takes one to know one, thus we are all in good company.
-
LMAO, okay Jo.........how does one make a pendant out of a bandana?
Nope, no headache here yet. Hehehehe.
Okay, PENDANT-something suspended from something else.
It this a pendant?
-
-
Good morning Escapees!!!!!!!! OK..........now! I'm really confused. Can somebody PLEEEEEZE post a pic of what we're supposed to send to Checkum? I don't want to sound, well......TOTALLY brainLESS.......but I do really good with pictures......lol
Ummm Jo.......I do have a headache, but you didn't cause it. I'll tag along in your purse today to visit your dad. Those emotional drains are the worst!!! Big bear ((((((((((((hugs)))))))) for you today!
Sharon, have you shipped the bananas yet? hehe (lol)
-
lol - I am totally confused now I don't know what I want bannanas bandanas pendants pennants ....
I am reallly counting on Julz & Faith (our creative ones to help us all out with a visual) --- I think they need a little time though so be a bit patient.
I know Sharon is sending me a bannana (I can count on her LOL)
-
Sharon how about froot loop pendants?
Checkum- how about one of each? it will most certainly be a very creative, decorated tent!
-
Just popping back thru and love the whirlwind of ideas.
I'm thinking for the 'less-creative' in our midst that a pre-purchased bandana, that is then adorned with hand-written wishes...... could be folded nearly in half and a quick seam by either sewing machine or by a glue gun could run the rope thru.
I loved the pics of Julz pennants posted earlier. I will follow that idea and plan to use Checkum's suggestion of 10 inches across the top, and 13 inches for the triangular/slanted sides. (Allowing enough room across the 10 inch side for a hem, enabling the roping to go thru.)
****Have you guys seen my 'inspirational scarf' thread here @ BCO?? Maybe this will get some of you thinking. As I said, I can send a couple of boas...... I have ribbons sent by Spar, Celia, Saint, WingGirl, KimberSIS and my mom that I can adorn the boa.
Go see if you can find that thread and take a peek at that art-project. It may get you thinking.
-
Hey Faith....where is the scarf thread. I'd like to take a look and get some ideas.
-
I just went looking for the 'scarf thread' and bumped it to the top again.
It is in this same section: Renewal, Recovery, Hope
It's in the very last box under: Inspiring Stories.
Maybe we can bump it periodically until Checkum's walk is accomplished.

fruitloops --- banannas ---- sounds like breakfast (I won't go hungry)
