I am so jealous of all of you. You are so lucky that you going on vacation!! I want to go!!! Hope you all had fun, or will be having fun!
Did Loads of laundry today, vacuumed, and made the beds.....sorry Barbe, I'm not even a big bed maker!!
Let's all pray for warmer weather. Some of us are still in winter. UGH!!!
-
Makraz- thats why comforters are so great! I fought the idea for yrs since I grew up with properly made beds...bottom (not fitted) and top sheets, thermal and wool blankets all tucked in with bed spread. Husbands way is SOOOO much easier and I cheat with fitted botton sheets (sorry Mom).
I am so ready for Spring (not so much NJ summer) warm sun, flowers, leaves, windows open, reading on back deck.....sigh
-
Good afternoon ladies!! Hope you all have accomplished what you wanted to today.
Mom-did you get that other load of clothes done?
Barbe - how 'bout those blinds and curtains? How do they look? Are you taking it easy now?
Elaine - So glad you're back. DD is a Junior at Northwestern State University in Louisiana. She's majoring in Early Childhood Education. The school is allowing her to start work on her Master's this summer, so she'll get a little ahead on that.
Hey Denise how was the dental appointment? I just HATE going to the dentist! I'm always so tense when I get up out of that chair.
Nancy would you come go through my clothes and clean out my closets? hehe.....I've been putting it off for, uumm....let's see......about 2 years now
Waaaayy too long!
Elizabeth I've been praying for you today that the PET turns out A-OK!!! I know you will be so relieved to have this behind you!! Good luck and ((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))
Makraz was it you saying that you vacuumed everyday? My MIL does too and she has a spotless house!! I am a little obsessed about changing sheets pretty often and I want my kitchen clean AT ALL TIMES. I hate a dirty kitchen!!
Caligrl- The way you remember you ex with your bathroom is so funny
At least you did get a new bathroom before he left, huh? hehe
Cathi how is Margo? Is she sleeping with you? I bet she cries for her mommy if she's not with you. Did I miss something about your DD? Does she have a suspicious lump or is it just an annual mammo? I hope nothing's wrong. Keep us posted. My prayers are with her!! and you of course!!!!!
I haven't gotten too much housework done this week, but I did take down a bush in my back yard. I should have taken a pic of it before. It wasn't too big and I just thought I'd cut it off with sheers and dig up the roots. Well, I think the roots go 30 FEET DEEP!!!!!!!!!!! I've been sawing, shoveling, axing, etc....you name it to get those roots up. They're almost up. I'll take a pic of the bare dirt, then I'll take one after I've planted my "stuff". I still don't know what I'm gonna plant yet, but I want something that is low maintenance, but something that is pretty and that blooms. Maybe a few different plants that will bloom during different seasons. It's in the back corner of my yard along the fence, so......I'll have to figure that one out.
Hope everyone is having a great afternoon!
Now git up now......everybody up.....break's over...

I HAVE to vacuum everyday because the boys track everything in the house. I alos find 'rock' collections scattered from room to room. My younger son fills his pocks with anything, sand, dirt, rocks, moss, flowers and then comes inside. I hate vaccuming but must daily, sometimes twice a day!!
EWB - I definitely use fitted sheets. Before I did, my kids would just rip them right off the beds. Now my boys only have fitted sheets on their beds. They hate the flat sheets, they don't know why your supposed to use the. So I let them and give them a comforter so it easier for them. But, they still never make their beds.....oh well. I have more important things to nag them about!
Love the pic of the dog, what a riot. Looks sooo comfy.
Just finished homework with one son. Does that count as housework? Now I'm going to cut up some veggies for dinner. The fun never stops here!
-
That is a Great Picture Coonie. Great Danes are neat dogs.
Makraz My girls dont like the top/flat sheet either. I find that strange...But oh well.
I still havent cleaned anything today. Gonna go sew.

Makraz, when my dd was very little may be 2-3 yrs old we would walk my ds who was 5-6 to school. Usually we went the back path to the school. On the way home dd and I had nature walks (everyday
) and she collected the most interesting things, usually put in her nature boxes at home. Her FAVORITE were stones, rocks and pepples. Had a big box in her room and she would play with them, not really sure what she did but often heard thumping and thunking ands all sorts of noises. When she was older we went to see my sister in DC area and went to the Smothsonian. She took ds to see the bugs (very brave since she is not a bug person) and I took dd to see the rocks and gems. Was she interested in the Hope diamond or other cut stones? noooo loved the rocks and boulders
. Thought she would go into geology or something related but as of now she's looking at Physical Therapy. Go figure.
Enjoy the stuffed pockets, they grow up so fast.

Taking the easy route for dinner tonight. Must be going through one of those tired slumps again. So its pizza for dinner but what I'd really like is to fix some veggies and chicken on the grill but that would mean having to put the grill together.......too tired for that.
Saw a great dane puppy at the dog park the other day. It actually had a grey blue coat and was the cutest thing. The owner said it ate all the time but its little ribs were sticking out. Guess they grow like weeds.
Pizza anyone?
-
You guys have to stop this!! I have my salmon, brocolli, and salad for dinner. I think I need a side order of PIZZA with it!! Extra cheese and might as well throw some hamburger and bacon on it. With a side order of french fries!!
EWB my DH says the kids make the messes that they do because I am such a nature girl. I did the same things with my kids when they were younger. My back yard abuts a wildlife sancutary (sp??) and I love to walk the trails and the boardwalks. We do this summer and winter. My youngest is now 10 so he would rather hang out with his friends than walk with mom. Sometimes I ccan still get him to go with me.
Back to cooking. I really want pizza. Thank God I can't smell it!!

Cleaning Poem
I asked the Lord to tell me
Why my house is such a mess.
He asked if I'd been 'computering',
And I had to answer 'yes.'
He told me to get off my fanny
And tidy up the house.
And so I started cleaning up...
The smudges off my mouse.
I wiped and shined the topside.
That really did the trick...
I was just admiring my work..
I didn't mean to 'click.'
But click, I did, and oops I found
A real absorbing site.
That I got SO way into it.
I was into it all night.<<Sigh>>
Nothing's changed except my mouse
It's very, very shiny.
I guess my house will stay a mess...
While I sit here on my hiney.
Thank you for being my friend -
So ladies, did you miss me? I actually went to work today!! I had 5 patients, one was suffering from Brain Mets. Another was a 30 year bc survivor!! Then I met 2 nurses who were 5+ yr bc survivors. I'm exhausted, but it was a lot of fun to be back at work.
Coonie....I did, in fact, remember my husband the minute I came in the door from work....haha...it smelled bad too!!! OMG How BAD am I???
Dinner tonight for me was baby carrots and dip.....followed by a really cheap Banquet mexican TV dinner. OH I will pay for this later!!! The good part is that it took 5 minutes in the microwave and I sat in bed and ate it. haha
I will be back to house cleaning tomorrow as I won't be working weds.

too tired to eat tonight
-
ok girls, I am joining this bunch. I need motivation. Maybe if I report in here I will get more things done. ok, a freind of mine gave me a complete set of dishes that she only had for a year to use for my everyday dishes. I hate to part with the ones I have but they are bits of sets that I have had over 35 years. So, tonight I will wrap them for Vietnam Veterans ( I donate eveything to them) and put in the new dishes. Funny how we cant part with some things. Be back later. Lefty, I love your poem.
Hugs and prayers

Hey Candie....WELCOME!!! We're glad to have you here. Some days we get more "talking" about cleaning than actually "cleaning"....but it is fun. But....some days we REALLY DO clean and get alot accomplished. We'll sit and take breaks, eat donuts, drink coffee or diet coke:)....but we always have a good time. Cathi has a new little pup named Margo that is ADORABLE, and Caligrl has a new bathroom from her ex husband:)
Sit down and relax............happy cleaning! ((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))
-
Welcome Candie, nice to meet you!
Love the poem. I am an avid facebook user and that poem has been going around facebook too. Definitely appropriate!
Stacy - you should of had the pizza. Doesn't it look good?
Gotta go put the laundry away.........
-
Hello, everybody! I soooo need this group. I'm trying a new technique on myself. On the days I work, I have to complete one task in my "too important to put off anymore" group. These are things like paying a bill, sending off an insurance form, things like that. The bigger projects, I tackle on my days off by making myself just do something, anything for 10 minutes at least. That usually gets me going enough to keep up with it.
Groan.......
It's not a fast method, but it's better than nuthin.
Coonie, that photo of your Dane is totally priceless!! Wish I were that flexible, ya know??
-
Hi Ladies-
this is great thread. You know what helps me keep the floors clean with 3 kids and 2 dogs? The Roomba I-robot vaccuums. I own a few of them and turn them on when I leave the house. The don't fall down the stairs and avoid toys, although one of the robots tried to commit suicide but survived. I always take the credit for their work too
. Thought I'd share my secret
.
-
OMG!!!!! You're the first person I know who actually has one of those!! Was it expensive? I just LOVE the whole idea.
-
KAK-
I bought my 1st 2 Roombas at Home Depot on clearance a few years ago and then bought 2 more at Kohl's when they were on sale and I had a 30% coupon. I have seen them the cheapest on E-Bay. I love my robots, for me they are worth it and make my life easier and keep my floors cleaner.
-
All right, my birthday is coming up. And if I can't have a full-time housekeeper, I'll get a Roomba instead.
-
Welcome everyone! Come on in.
-
Oh, cute photo! I love little girl clothes!
-
I have a roomba but my favorite one was the scooba! It seemed to do everything at least for awhile and then it broke
I so miss my scooba. It swept and mopped and never complained! Plus the room smelled so fresh and clean afterwards with the solution that you had to use.
I just sold an extra roomba that I had on ebay just this week. I found it at the Goodwill for under $10 believe it or not. They must not have known what it was. Needless to say it resold for alot more and fast.
-
Hi
Well, I put the new dishes away and packed up the other ones to give to the Vietnam Veterans.
Then, I cleaned out the closet in my spare bedroom. So what an accomplishment for me tonight.Thanks,girls.
Liz, I like the idea of the robot...cool.
Well, goodnight all. I will think of my project for tomorrow night.
Hugs and prayers
PS..thanksfor the welcome
-
Hi Kathi,

I need a roomba to follow my kids around!

KAK wish they made cute girl dresses again. I never seem to be able to find really cute everyday dresses for my 8 yr old. The fashion gurus just make them too old looking, I want my little girl to look like a little girl not a teen. Know what I mean.
-
-
Awe Cute.
Sweet dreams, Sleep Tight- Dont let the bed bugs bite...And Thanks to Barbe- We know they do- LOL
Welcome all you newbies. I always wondered how the Roombas worked.

Well I got my PET Scan finally over with and am just going to be waiting for the results. I have been exhausted and slept most of the afternoon. Maybe it is just a relief to get that part over with. Tomorrow my goal is to sweep and mop the floors and clean the guest bathroon. We have group tomorrow night. I will let you know how I do.
