Sherri - Yep that 13 dollars a week is the tax cut. I guess they think if they give it to us that way we are more likely to spend it. It goes down to a whole 8 dollars next year.
Did you see them grilling the bank CEOs? With one breath they were yelling at them because we are in this mess and with the next they were yelling at them because they are not lending to the same people they lent to who got us where we are - people who can't pay the money back! Maxine was mad because they make people wait until they are two months behind before they will renegotiate loans/credit card debt. If they didn't there would be a lot of people trying to get their debt forgiven.
-
Well, at least you have to actually be working to get the tax rebate this time. Right? No checks to people who aren't even paying the taxes. Yes, I realize they still get it through the backdoor welfare spending but at least their not calling it a 'tax rebate' while giving to those who never paid taxes. That was just insulting.
-
Gasoline prices here in Wisconsin have gone up to about 2 dollars a gallon from about 1.69 in late December. Guess where our $13 is going?
Pelosi and Reid have no idea what is going to happen - they are in their own la la land. China practically owns us. If the Fed keeps printing money to fuel their spending spree the dollar will be worthless. We will end up like Zimbabwe with hyperinflation.
You can go to whitehouse.gov and go to the contact us section and let them know how you feel. Don't know if it will help - but at least they will know that not everyone thinks they are God's gift to mankind.
-
Always - low income wage earners who get all of their taxes back (so they don't pay federal taxes) will also get this "tax cut". It is to offset their Social Security and Medicare taxes. Those who don't work won't get it but I do believe their welfare benefits will be increased.
-
I think welfare benefits should decrease over time ..... individuals need to be weened off the system. But now is not the time, but after this mess is cleaned up, it needs to be addressed.
-
Oh and my $13 will go towards our new 1% sales tax increase and our 12¢ a gallon tax increase on gas.
hmmmm funny how that works.
Of course, I live in Frankenface's state.
-
Shirl-I went up to do some exercises, hoping that the maggots would be on the next page when I got back, but they are still there. You are torturing us. Or are you just trying to scare off the unbelievers! LOL
Moody, It is so great that you are back, with your wicked sense of humor. I am so happy you are smiling again. Even thought Olivia will probably still have some hurdles, it is great that she is on the road to recovery.
Maria, How are you feeling? It is so glad to have you back too!
Starla- I remember we discussed the fact that Oblah would not release his health records. Why the heck would he hide that? Palin even released the details of her pregnancies, something she certainly had a right to keep private. This guys is hiding so much it is not funny. The MSM of course was so besotted they never bothered to vet him. But someday, he will fall out of popularity and whichever of his cronies can get the best book deal, will turn on him and we will finally hear the truth.
Palin is on Greta! You betcha!
-
I'm the one whose bank's idea of a mortgage "workout" plan resulted in them RAISING our payment by nearly $300 a month. I'll be sure and let you know when the "stimulus" bs helps me with THAT situation. Don't hold your breath! LOL
(((HUGS)))
Diane -
Diane, maybe you can call ACORN? Or do they just help out dems? After all, the voters they register are all dems. They do not even try to register voters in republican areas.
-
Palin in '12! If not, I am moving to Alaska! Love that Independent spirit!
-
Suze -- I have no problem with low income wage earners getting the tax cut because at least they are actually working and I've been a low wage earner trying to make ends meet. Its the ones who won't work and sit home all day in front of the TV that I have a problem getting a 'tax rebate' check. They didn't work and didn't even begin to pay taxes so why should they get a check like those who worked.
I realize they are getting an increase in welfare benefits but at least its being called what it really is for these. Its welfare and not a 'tax rebate.'
-
Vivre,
Maybe if I change my name to minnie mouse? LOLOLOL Wonder if the "one" will be visiting my area soon? I could rent a 38 year old son for the day (although it might be hard to explain how a 41 year old has a 38 year old son). It's be a great photo op. (and yes, I have to laugh about this crap or I'd never stop crying).
-
Sherry, It is not just cutting the pork. In IL what costs the taxpayers is the payola. Every new road has lots of hands in the till, payoffs for the contractors, payoffs for the inspectors, payoffs to the unions . . . Get ready for the Chicago machine to take the "road show" to DC. When you get all these crooks in your pocket, you insure your votes. This is how the dems have controlled IL and this is how they plan to control the country. I sure hope people wake up in time to stop this corruption before it is too late.
-
Anybody have a link to the final draft of the bill?
-
vivre - You are sooooooooooooooooo right!
Chi-town corruption cost me and dh $100,000.+!
In short...our first house after we got married in 1996 was in Chi-town ...didn't know it (found out later) that it was built without permits by Con-town firemen on their days off (they paid off the city inspectors and faked a certificate of occupancy)... They paid off our home-inspector too.... he gave us the thumbs up so we bought it... after we moved in... little by little, we found out that not one floor was level... very few walls were plumb/straight... plumbing was horrible... electric was out of code...and worst of ALL... based on all the permit violations my dh uncovered (180 total), we felt we should hire a structural engineer... low and behold our dream home/investment was STRUCTURALLY UN-SOUND! They didn't properly support the first frickin' floor of the house! OMG - we were devastated... Of course when we approached them with everything - they said to kiss their a** and to get a good attorney. Three horrifying years later - in and out of court - an emotional roller coaster ride from hell... we "so-called" won (on what's called recision - very few cases win on this) ... ordering them to buy it back from us (but they only had to pay us the orig. price)... we lost 3 years appreciation on it! - which at the time was at least $40,000. But here's the real killer... Illinois law doesn't mandate that fraud victims be reimbursed for legal fees by the defendant... our legal fees were almost $60,000. That hurt - financially and emotionally and we felt raped. This is why we now live in another county... Croook County is full of scum bags!
Soooooooooooooo - I personally know how Con-town works...
-
Oh, man (and women), there is so much to respond to.
Daisy, you bet the Rep forum will be shut down under the "Unfairness Doctrine Act." We've already been slapped on the hand because we did SOMETHING wrong. Haven't really figured out what it is, but.....and we are quite busy on this thread. $!
MAGGOTS! Don't get upset with me (Moody..sleep deprived Mom). I was using graphics to explain the stench that the Unstimulus Bull reeked of. Have you ever put raw meat or shrimp shells in the trash when it's 90 degrees outside? Then, when you opened the trash this HORRIBLE smell comes forth right up your nostrils. Then you look in there and there's flies and these little wormy thingies...MAGGOTS! Well, when you throw raw meat in the trash when it's really hot and it sits there a day or so it stinks! We don't do that anymore. We freeze that kind of trash and put it in the trash when the trash man comes. You see, with the Stimulus Bull, the longer it sat around..the longer the conservative pundits talked about it...the more rotten raw pork they were finding. It stunk to high heaven. That's why the prez and Pelosi and Reid wanted it passed right away. They knew that over the weekend the pundits would show up and produce all the rotten, smelly pork that was added to it.
Laura, that was a sorry con job you got. I cannot believe a man from Illinois who has not been vetted (knowing the corruption that goes on there in Chicago) got elected.
Vivre, You deserved the maggots after exercising.
I hear some of the dems are having fun in Italy. Ha! And they talk about the CEOs flying in their private jets to beg for money. And they yell at the "bankers" for lending money that they wanted them to. The dims are a bunch of hypocrites.
Hi, Herbie. Hope Moody gave you some hot chocolate. It's only 35 degrees here. My thermostat is like Obama's....75 degrees. I'm from Texas and I'm used to the heat (although I haven't lived there for many, many years). Just joking..about the thermostat. Who can afford to stay that warm? Besides, it's not healty (ask Vivre).
Diane, don't tell anyone, but I need to PM you soon. You'll find out why when I PM you..it's PRIVATE.
And, darn, I was looking foward to receiving a check in the mail! Leave it up to the dims to ruin everything.
MSNBC is a joke.
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ (Just because).

My grandson called to ask me a Question,,,I got it wrong, do you know
Name a former US President not buried on U. S. soil.
-
Do you mean soil literally cause there are quite a few in mausoleums above ground---Both the Adam's come to mind quite a few others too--Grant for sure--Washington. Don't know the modern ones........
If you are being funny any of the ones still alive- Carter, 2 Bushes, Clinton and Obama
If you are being really obscure Tyler was buried in Virginia when it was still part of the Confederacy so technically that could qualify......
-
Dude, you are a buzz kill....
It was my 8 year old grandson's question, I answered all of presidents, answer was the alive ones.
( a smart buzz kill)

Mr. Spouse - lol - I like him! Future Repub - no doubt. He may know this one...but if not:
What is greater than God, More evil than the devil, The poor have it,
The rich Republicans don't need it, And if you eat it, you'll die? -
Like the big muky-muks in Corp America are told to get rid of their jets, I think Obamao should cut down his trips in AF1 .. he's a hog. A gas hog, a media hog, an air time hog. That was wasteful spending takin MooMoo out for Valentine's Day out in Chicago. I'm sorry, so what your kids missed their friends.
I am sure their friends would have come to the WH at their own expense just for the chance for a sleep over in the WH!!

Stock Market: Lovely...just lovely!
--------------------------------------------------------
Have any of you ever noticed how many new and used car lots there are? In my neck of the woods... there's one every two blocks! Huh? I often wondered about this. So, in light of the latest "U.S. auto wreck" out of curiosity, I googled my observation and found this article:
TOO MANY CARS, NOT ENOUGH MARKET
As we watch the slow-motion train wreck that is the dying global automotive business, it's easy to blame the economic situation for the debacle. And it's certainly a very big contributing factor. Or more precisely, an accelerating factor. It has absolutely made matters worse -- and faster.
However, so far, there has been little discussion of the overcapacity issue that underlies it all -- and which is far more serious and which has been quietly bleeding the industry white for years now.
What's "overcapacity"? Simply put, too many vehicles chasing not enough market...

Barry is off in AF1 again to sign his spendulous bill in Denver. WTH?? Can't he just sit at his desk and do that? Can you imagine the screaming if GW had done this? I know he loves the perks on AF1, plus probably loves all the military saluting him, it feeds his big ego, but this is getting ridiculous. I have no problem with any president using this plane whenever needed, but all these publicity stunts are getting old. Again, imagine if GW had done this.

This is funny:

Stupid people who just had to have their Obama coins are getting regular coins with stickers on them! This just shows the mentality of people who worship this guy!

Yes, Sherri, this is California, the train probably won't ever be built. Some lizard probably only lives in this area so it would be an environmental impact and a no-go. Nobama strikes again!
ABC news said yesterday that Chrysler sells, 1,000,000 cars a year. That is enough to stay in the market if they would cut out dealerships, factories and tighten the budget. He said all the car makers could make it if they'd do that!!! Chrysler sells the least but that was his point, that even the little one can make it.
Here in California, you have Ford and Chevy dealers every 10 miles, unless you're in the desert. No dealer is supposed to be closer than 10 miles to the next one .. so in populated areas, we have a lot of them and they aren't making it. They need to cut the dealerships. Sadly, the fittest survive ... but we need that to happend for the "species" to make it. They can re-grow later if need be.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO.........ladies and Mr. Spouse today besides being a very dark day for Capitalism I am trying to find something good and there is something that Obama has done that makes me very happy..........(please ladies and Mr. Spouse no nasty pm's)......he has started sending more troops to Afghanistan...........this is a very good thing..........this week 3,000 men and women have been sent to two regions to try and find Osama............he is poised to send 27,000 more...........he pretty much has gotten everything wrong so far but it is about time that we get Afghanistan in order........he has even said if he has too he will send troops into Pakistan..........maybe he has bigger huevos then I thought..........Shokk

Samantha Powers handiwork is written all over this.----------You had to know from day one --thrown under the bus she'd come crawlin' out in charge of the State Department no matter who had the title.-------She's probably biding her time till she has the Secretary of State title as well....That was probably the plan all along...........

Disturbing Trend
By William KatzWhy would the United States Government make an important announcement late on a Saturday night? The reason, of course, is to make sure it doesn’t get too much attention.
On Saturday night the Obama administration announced it is sending a delegation to assist in the planning of Durban II, a UN project known formally as the World Conference Against Racism. Sounds innocent enough, but recall that Durban I was held in Durban, South Africa, in 2001, a few days before the 9-11 attacks, and descended into an orgy of hatred, blatant anti-Semitism, and open season on Israel. The Bush administration boycotted that conference, refusing to lend it the dignity of America’s name.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said, before she took her new office, that the U.S. should boycott Durban II as well. And, indeed, planning for the conference signals a meeting even more degenerate, anti-freedom and bigoted than Durban I.
But there are apparently other voices in the administration. From the AP:
“The State Department said it would send diplomats next week to participate in preparatory meetings for the World Conference Against Racism, which is set to be held in Geneva, Switzerland in April and which some countries including Israel have already decided to boycott.
“In a statement released late Saturday, the State Department said the U.S. delegation to the planning discussions would review current direction of conference preparations and whether U.S. participation in the conference itself is warranted.”
One of the boycotting countries is Canada. President Obama visits Canada late this week, so the decision to send diplomats to those planning meetings undercuts Ottawa. Of course, undercutting allies has been a hallmark of this new administration since the moment it took office. Obama has already insulted President Karzai of Afghanistan, has undercut our East European allies on missile defense, has shown indifference to Iraqi democracy, has insulted Britain by returning a bust of Winston Churchill that sat in the Oval Office, has interfered in internal Israeli politics, and has generally signaled that allies have no greater standing than some enemies. Great stuff.
“One of the leading officials pressuring Clinton on ‘Durban 2′ is the new U.S. ambassador to the UN, Susan Rice, who was Obama’s close campaign adviser.
“Rice is also pushing for the U.S. to join the UN Human Rights Council, which is based in Geneva.”
This doesn’t surprise me. It’s Rice’s reputation. We’ll be given the argument that by “participating” in these bodies, we can change them. That’s absurd. It’s never happened. By participating we simply lend them legitimacy and prestige. They will do what they wish to do. The U.S. has one vote. Once again we are sending a message of weakness, of accommodation to some of the worst governments in the world.
“The other official pushing for American participation in ‘Durban 2′ is Samantha Power, another Obama adviser at the National Security Council.
“Power participated in the initial Durban conference as the representative of a non-government organization and is known for her strong criticism of Israel.”
This is disgraceful. Apparently, the secretary of state has been cut out of the loop. The hard leftists are getting their way. True, the U.S. statement said that Washington would decide at a later date whether to participate in Durban II, based on what direction the planning took, but that looks like window dressing. If we did pull out on principle, it would be great. But I have the uneasy feeling that this initial step will simply lead to our participation. And that would be a slap at the very “American ideals” President Obama loves to talk about.
The AP story contains this intriguing line:
“Senior State Department officials contacted Israeli diplomats and asked them to take swift action to block the Durban initiative.”
The term “senior” is used carefully by experienced journalists. In this case it would apply either to the secretary of state or to those just below her, who would act only with her approval. One gets the sense of growing conflict in the administration, something that could flare up. I’ve said before in this space that Hillary Clinton might be forced out of the administration, or could even feel the need to resign in protest over policies she opposes, setting up a new battle within the Democratic Party.
Things are getting sticky. -
They sent back the bust of Churchill? That's been in the Oval Office since FDR. What an insult.
At least he didn't ask Clinton to go that would have been a double slap. She adamently supports Israel. Let's see how long she can put up with his games. The real problem is how long can we put up with this sudden changing of America?
-
Obama's real SOS, Susan Rice, is just doing what she is set up to do, act behind the scenes, while they send Hillary off to do some less strategic parts of the world so she is out of their hair. What I do not understand is why Hillary would take this job to begin with. It seems to me that she has put herself in a precarious situation. She can be fired at will and then Obama gets her totally out of his hair. I just hope this backfires. There are still a lot of Hillary supporters out there. If they begin to realize how Hillary is being sidestepped, they may turn on their own party. They will be the first dems to realize who they have elected. It is just a matter of time until the truth begins to come out. We will soon be a chorus of "I told you so."
