Is our weather crazy or what..the flowers think it is spring
-
Beautiful Liz---thanks!! I was supposed to cut my roses down soon---not sure---guess Steve will have to do it!! See the Dr next Tues--I hope I can go back to work on 2/1....
So--I'm sorry--I have lost track on our numbers for Sat--and Brenda--please still pick me up..? K?
I don't see why i can't go--anyway--we have a good size table reserved--for us all!
Sylvia

Sylvia, I'm so sorry to hear about your elbow. A few years back I fell and fractured and dislocated my wrist. The pain was horrible until they finally set it and put me in a cast. I went to Hawaii like that - full arm cast. I told the ortho I could heal there just as easy as in Michigan's winter. I can't imagine that type of pain continuing. I hope the pain diminishes quickly for you.
Jeanne - I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad. Been there and it is tough losing parents.
My prayers are with both of you.
Looking forward to meeting the group on the 24th while I'm in SD. Oh, went to Point Loma and saw a couple of whales spouting - with binoculars. Also saw a couple off the coast here. The weather has been fabulous the past couple of weeks. It is going to turn a bit cooler, but so much better than all the snow and freezing temps that Michigan has been getting. Will be quite a shock to the system when we return in a couple of weeks.
Linda
-
Whales use binoculars? Cool ...
-
LOL, Susan! You can take the librarian out of the library...
Lisa
-
LOL! Susan made me chuckle.
Sylvia-Gee whiz lady. I hope the pain is subsiding. Of course I will pick you up. 11:30 right?
LisaSDCA-I just want to hug you.
Linda-Looking forward to meeting you.
I might get a sitter for Saturday after all. I don't know. I could use a little me time. We'll see. I think the boys were rather stay here anyway. See you all then.
-
Hey Brenda thanks--see you at 11:30---oxycodone---my new friend!!!
-
Well, cripes Sylvia..what a bummer..it will be good to see you..
-
Hi dear sisters, see you tomorrow, and thanks dear Liz, for the reminder.
Hugs, Shirl

Hello to my new sisters from SD,
Thank you so much for inviting me today. I really was in need of girl time. You are a wonderful supportive group. Sylvia and LisaSDCA - you are both high on my prayer list. I will check in now and again to see how you are all doing.
When I got back to Mission Beach it was low tide and I went out on my daily search of sand dollars. What a find! My dh and I found 40!!!!! Can you believe it? I am bleaching them and then will coat all of them with mod podge. I've been told this will harden them a bit. I'm hoping to keep my momentum going and paint something on them, put the prayer with them, and give them out for Christmas. Christmas? Well it will feel like it when we return to Michigan in 2 weeks. My nephew went to check on our house and said he can't get in the driveway. Aaagghhhh. I'm getting so spoiled by this weather. Not as many on the beach today. They must think it is cold. And here I am wading in the water knee deep. Heavenly!
Take care each of you. If you should make your way to Michigan you are always welcome. Well, you are welcome here on Mission Beach too - until Feb 5. Linda
-
Sorry I missed the lunch and get together today! I am finally back in SD (arrived this afternoon) and so glad to be home. Scans this week (please keep me in your prayers) and chemo. Hopefully all is stable.
Lisa, so sorry to hear about your symptoms and the need to rely longer on the evil decadron. Boo Hiss and all that. You are always in my prayers and I do so hope your scans next month will show total wipe-out of the monster.
Sylvia, sorry to hear about your elbow. Hope it is healing well.
Hugs to all, Jeanne
-
It was wonderful to see you all again. I like that place because the boys can play video games and entertain themselves.
Sylvia-I hope you weren't in to much pain when we dropped you off. At least ds was not tapping on the way home.
Jeanne-we missed you today. Hope you are going okay.
Linda-It was so nice to meet you. It is great when friends from bc.org show up in our loving neighborhood.
You are all so great. Feb 8 looks like the only date I can't make it next month.
-
You all mean so much to me - your encouragement is such a source of strength when I'm feeling a bit precarious. Thank you for understanding my need to be behind the camera today - despite my shaking hands, it seems to have turned out well. No surprise, when the subjects are all such sincere, caring, enthusiastically good women (and BMD's handsome boys).
Jeanne, we missed you! And Lisa#3. And all our 'members' who couldn't be there this afternoon. We were so happy to be joined by our friend from the Frozen North, Linda7411.
Next month, February 2009, marks TWO YEARS of our San Diego Lunch Bunch being there for each other.
Lisa
-
Had a great time, so glad you could come, Linda. I wish I had more time to talk to you. I feel like we all try to jam so much into two hours ... sometimes it can be frustrating!
I hope we can find a date in Feb that works for all of us. Two years is something to celebrate.
Liz, I got the book (I think) that you recommeded, but it's fiction. Mutant Messanger by Morgan, right? I was sure you said non fiction, but that could just be my dementia showing up yet again.
Lisasdca, stay strong. Enjoy your trip, and let us all know how your mri comes out. We will all be there in the room with you, holding your hands, rubbing your feet, cheering you on.
Melia
-
Hi again..Melia.. the author says the book was written as fiction to protect the aborigine tribe but that it is a true happening....
-
Hello all---having fun navigating this site for some reason today--
not---anyway---it was good to meet you Linda---I had no idea that you could get sand dollars here--about 30 yrs ago Steve and i went to St Pete's Beach in Fl and got a bucket full, carried them back on the plane to NY --also a sea urchin that I stepped on and they all became part of a wall hanging that has been in several bathrooms thru the yrs!
We missed you Jeanne and sure hope to see you next month--and I just smile thinking of our little librarian riding off into the sunset in her CR-V-- you go guitargirl!!!!!
Melia --it was good to get some face time with you---we have alot in common---well--I guess we all do---but it is so nice to explore the other avenues of our lives besides what brought us all together---
Shirley---it is always so much fun to see you -in between your vacations.....
Lisa---one tough lady--you hang in there and we are all praying that things turn out fine.
Brenda--thanks for picking me up--even tho I threatened to beat your children---I hope you let me back in your van!!!
Love you all--Sylvia

Hi ladies, just taking a little peek to see how you San Diego ladies are doing. It's been many months since I was here. I'm so glad that your group has stayed together. Maybe I'll join you in one of your lunch bunch events!

-
Susan-They did not say anything about hormonal treatment. I wonder if they want you finished with that too?
Brenda S.-Welcome. Please come by more often. We would love to have you join us for lunch. We really just go have fun together.
So has anyone figured out our February lunch yet? I forgot when everyone said they couldn't be there. I know I am out for the 8th. What part of town are we headed to?
-
DebC has passed away. My heart is breaking. We were just talking about her at our San Diego Luncheon on Saturday. I hate this stupid disease.
-
Thanks for posting that, Brenda--I hadn't been on the mets board this week. I'm so sorry for her family, and for the suffering she had to go through. May she rest in peace.
-
Oh my, I remember AlaskaDeb from her first visit. She was so funny and upbeat, everyone loves her.
We will miss her and her cute hat.
Sigh, damn disease, hugs, Shirlann
-
Well, ladies, it is now officially February and no plan for our lunch in sight...
I personally will be gone the weekend of the 28th...but if that is the only good one so be it..any suggestions??
-
I can do the 14th or 15th or 22nd if we skip the week-end of the 28th. Where are we going this time?
Susan-I opted out of the study. It is just to far and today they said I would have to be there 2 or 3 times a week. Bummer.
-
Too bad - but if I lived as far away as you do, I wouldn't do it either. I wouldn't have done it if it involved driving down to the med center!
Well I'll let you know how it goes ...
And to the rest of you - I'll try to post some pictures of my trip so I'll be with you in spirit.
-
Yes, Susan - we will definitely want a photo history of your travels!
I am good for the 14th, too. If it's the following weekend, I may bring a friend. You will all love her! It's also the weekend of the Silver Bay Kennel Club Dog Shows at the Del Mar Fairgrounds. But I ought to be able to fit in a brunch somewhere.
BMD - are you interested in going again this year?
As far as where - I vote for somewhere mid-county: Del Mar, MiraMar, etc.
Lisa
-
LisaSDCA-I would love to bring the kids to the dog show. We were watching the show over the week-end. I wonder how much it would be though. I guess I can look online.
Del Mar or Mira Mesa is fine with me.
-
I would think that the 15th might be a better day (Valentine's Day is 14th) - but I'm okay with 14th or the following Sunday, 2/22.
Lisa - is the Kennel Club Dog Show something that anyone can attend or must you be showing a dog? That sounds like fun.
Jeanne
-
Silver Bay Kennel Club is the best and biggest show each year in the San Diego area. It's all day both Sat. and Sun - it's FREE and open to all interested. First breed classes start at 8am and it runs through Groups and on into Best in Show about 5-6pm. Many of the top dogs in the US will be shown because it's one of the final big shows before Westminster.
I'd love to show my boy again... it was at Silver Bay that he took back-to-back Majors (both days) over nationally ranked Pugs. He'd be up for it, but I doubt I would be.Showing dogs takes stamina!
