Yup, the best way to get me to listen to something, watch something, or read something is to tell me NOT to do it.  I'll be the first in line to see what its all about.  I get really chagrined with others trying to become my 'thought police' or tell me what to do.  Must be something to Rush if he's worth a mention, if he was such a loser like they want us to think, he would be ignored.

Oh yes!  They definitely perceive him as a threat because he has such a huge listening audience.  So dumb for them to mention him; it just confirms that he is a threat!  LOL!!

he is president, not God.  how dare he tell anyone what to listen to or not listen too.  is he assuming that repubs are too stupid to make an informed decision on their own, or come to their own conclusions.  there has been talk the past few months about revisiting the fairness doctrine. there are several conservative talk radio shows and no liberal ones.  duh, there was one but it failed because no one listened to it.  they better not mess with freedom of speech...what's next? freedom of thought?  this is only the beginning.  i hope we can recognize our country in 4 years.

I had a friend who worked at home and always listened to Rush. I thought she was crazy until I started to tune him in last year. I do not always agree with him but he has a lot of facts to back up his opionions, not just constantly blasting of others like liberal radios tried. He is really funny too. For instance he was talking this week about the mess the "Green Party" left behind after the coronation because they were waiting for someone else to come along and take care of their mess. He called it "Hurricane Latrina". LOL!

Some people seem to feel that we all need to sit down now and be good sheeple and do what ever the dear leader says, just because he has charisma. Isn't that how dictators get their foothold? Their power gets so strong because no one dares to upset the apple cart and eventually no one is able to go against them, even if they are doing horrible things. Think Putin. Think Chavez. Think Castro. Think Hitler. We need to THINK for ourselves.

pzl, I read the same thing ........ and what about the 'tude???

"I won. I will trump you on that."  OMW ...  what a cad.

Right, what we need is more welfare programs.  I said this to co-workers that if

he was elected, he is NO Clinton, this Obama character would, definitely move

create more government assistance to welfare recipients instead limiting it like

    Clinton introduced.

Yes, I heard about Hurricane Latrina, I was listening to him that morning!

He said maybe it was to create more jobs -- now he had to hire someone

to clean it up!  And what about no budgeting for the clean-up?

That was not part of the plan!  OOPS .. talk about planning with

a few possible consequences -- he planned for what? That it would

be sparkling clean when they all left?

    RBM

Actually Clinton was heavily leaning left when he started out and as the result  was "rewarded" with the republican congress, From then he became more centrist. I hope it will happen here too.

I think in general it's a good idea not to have one party in bothe Wite House and Congress, it's much better to have a balance of power.

    Rock,

You can't fool me, Shirley is not on vacation.  She is in search of

a very illusive birth certificate.  If it involves sun, sand, hula dancing

and funny drinks with umbrellas, that's a price she is willing to pay.

I c that some people keep removing posts.  Can anyone tell me why?  I didn't see anyone attacking anyone.  I think politicians are fair game and it's someone's view.  What is wrong with that? or does this site believe in censorship?

    Jadar,

We are very fortunate to participate in the trial version of the new democrat led policy, known as the Fairness Doctrine.  This was thought to be used to stop people from irrationally deciding what talk show they like to listen to.  Everyone with a half brain knows that if you listen to three hours of Rush Limbaugh and his 99.7% accuracy rate in reporting,  you must have 3 hrs of Al Franken with his .3% accuracy rate because we must have 100% correctness.

So the same people with a half brain has decided that the two political threads on this site must be at the forefront of the social experiment of this new Doctrine.  Too many facts prove the conservative thought process correct 99.7% of the time, therefore they feel that enough post must be deleted to allow some balance in the inequities of sound ideas.

I do think we need to applaud and thank the half brains for allowing us to be at the front of the Fairness Doctrine movement.  A big WhooooooooooooooHoooooooooooooo to them.

    jader,

All this underserved posts removal is done by exploiting software feaure that allows to "report" a post. If a certain number of readers hit this "report" button, the post is marked as "removed by community". I think originally it was done to allow readers to remove certian obsene, commercial or simply mean postings, since moderators did not have time to check all the postings. However in the hands of a certain clique from the other thread this tool became misused causing postings which just expressed different views to be deleted.

    Here's to the:

    ACLU

    AFLCIO

    MSNBC

    DNC

    With Libertarian

    Injustice

    For all!

So if you are conservative just shut your mouth and be silent. After all, the other side has been so quiet the past few years. Fair is fair. It is especially important that we only talk about the weather here from now on. We do not want to offend anyone after all.

So how is the weather in your neck of the woods?

The sun is bright here and it is almost 10 degrees. I am headed out in my bikini to work on absorbing some of that vit. D.

Thanks for your answer. I am still confused. I thought only personal attacks violated the board policy.  Seems that it is taken too far. I can understand if she said that So and So is a *(*(* then that would be ok but I saw the posts and that is not the case.

I was a lot warmer this afternoon.  I was listening to a radio show, not Rush, and the woman picked up on something that was said in a speech during a stopover in Baltimore about how our constitution needs to be revamped for our times.  I got a lot warmer.  Those were not the exact words.  We have to watch even the small nuances being said because these small things that goes over everyone's head seems be become an executive order of some kind.

I did not want to read that speech or any other, but I fear I must go find it now.  The lady was floored by his meaning, plus she said since we have this past week to see how quickly he moved we better be looking up his other words.  I feel this coldness coming over me now.

Changes cannot be made to the Consitution without the radification of 3/4 of the states.  So, it can't just be changed with an Executive Order.  They have called for getting rid of the electoral college many times in the past but its embedded in the Constitution and would take MAJOR effort to change.

Here is a link that shows what all is involved to make a Constitutional change:

Changing the Constitution of the USA

Here is a link about Executive Orders.  They can be overturned by Congress.

    Executive Orders

Remember, that we have a government with a system of checks and balances.  An Executive Order can be overturned by Congress just like they can override a veto.

While the power of the executive order seems broad, there are checks. One check is Congress's ability to overturn executive orders, much in the same way that it may overturn a presidential veto. A two-thirds vote of both houses (i.e., both the Senate and the House of Representatives) is required to overturn an executive order. This means that it can be extremely hard to overturn an executive order, since most members of Congress typically vote along party lines

No one branch of government has unlimited power that cannot be revoked or overturned by the two other branches.

I think she might have gone a little overboard when I read this:

"What's required is a new declaration of independence, not just in our nation, but in our own lives, our own hearts - from ideology and small thinking, prejudice and bigotry and narrow interests - an appeal not to our easy instincts but to our better angels."

This is what's happening, he's scaring a lot of people so she had this sentence before her and went off on him big time.  It wasn't the constitution, it was the declaration of independence.  Anyway, she saw the words "in our nation", and that did it for her.  Who does he think he is??? Blah, blah, blah.

    Rock,

I don't understand.  They could have auctioned those clothes.  They were pretty stylish.  So by putting them in trash bags, that means they're throwing her out too?  How do you get from A to Z on that analogy?

Is there one showing the dumped over port-o-pots?  I heard that went on too.  The dems are trying to say the reason why there was so much garbage is because everyone was looking for keepsakes in the trash.  That might explain the pots being knocked over too.

Supposedly there were no trash cans so bombs could not be hid in them...duh what about the port-o-potties? Excuses for everything. I think the dems should VOLUNTEER to clean up the mess!

This thread is wonderful.  I just signed onto another thread and was looking around and found this.  I'm on the east coast so it's late here but I will go back and read some and see if I can catch up.  I'm a life long republican, 58 years old.  I've been active politically for over 40 years.  It goes without saying, I believe Obama is going to be very bad for our democracy.  The road he will have us travel will come to no good end.

I'm going to look back aways here.  I'm glad I found you.
