Why not just come to California and my dd and I will speak French to you and serve you French Onion soup, French fries and be rude to you!
LOL .. just kidding ... actually, they were nice to me when I went there but maybe thats because I spoke French!
-
Rock, you know those freedom fries are not in my diet these days. But thanks for the offer! I could use a translator, though. My French is pretty bad. But I have found they are nice if I at least make an attempt. Plus, I have a lot of French friends who interpret for me, and do not mind speaking English. I have done a lot for them when they come here, so they are always nice to reciprocate.

vivre,
We actually visited two regions: Alsace and Provence and we loved both of them. I did not hear about Alsace which is located near German border. until my friends mentioned it to us.It's so gorgeous!! Colmar and Strasbourg are two biggest cities there that are a must see. We flew into Frankfurt, rented a car and drove it to Alsace and then to South France (which is not too far by American standards) and flew out from Nice. Now I saw what you said about Nice, we heard it from some other people as well, so we allocated only 1 day for it (we had to fly out of there because of ff miles tickets) In fact one of the couples we were travelling with, vistied Nice 5 years ago and had the same impression as you. BUT it was not the case at all, it was nice and clean and beautiful. We all came to the conclusion that we wished we could stay there longer. If you decide to give Nice another chance, you MUST visit a small city nearby St. Paul, it has the most gorgeous art galleries and stores. You don't need to buy anything, just looking at this is an incredible expereince. But if you still decide to skip NIce, you can fly out from Marcelle that is only an hour away from Provence.
We stayed in this wonderful B&B in the middle of Provence for 6 days and did sightseeing around it.The owners are wonderful people , they both used to be in finance before buying this place , she is an Egyptian Coptic and a wonderful cook and he is an American
We also stayed in Hotel Cezanne in Aix-en-Provence.Let me know if you consider Alsace and I will give some recommendations for that .

PZL-I am thinking of Marseille, because that is where my friends live. I have been to StPaulDeVence. Is that the village you are talking about? I loved it! I have this wonderful clock in my office I bought there back when they were on francks and the exchange rate was good. I spent 2 days in Nice, poodle poop and bare breasts on the beach do not appeal to me. Maybe I should parade around and show them my scar! But I know that it is easy to fly to Nice from the US. What city and airline did you fly? I hate air france.
Thanks for the link, I will check it out.

Ilinois: Where our Governors MAKE our Liscense Plates OMG - ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Too frickin funny!
I loved reading your vacation stories! Wow...quite worldly you all are. My FAV vacation was in 1988 - Jamaica - Hedonism Resort-woo hoo! lol We were there during superbowl weekend - watched the superbowl while at the pool. Went with my two best friends...met dh there... he was with his two best friends. We were shocked that we both lived in the land of crooks. Came back home, dated for six years and got married. Best $2000 I ever spent! We honeymooned in Jamaica - but you better believe it WASN'T at Hedonism! lol DH was born in France - we would love to go there someday... maybe when the economy gets better! lol Or perhaps we could go to DC and look through garbage cans... for free souvenirs!
-
My best vacation so far with my husband and children was 3 yrs ago at Universal Studios in Olrando. It was way better than our Disney trip the year before. We had a great hotel, right at the park and my little dog could go with. Disney hotels (that I could afford) didnt allow pets!!!
My favorite trip w/just my hubby and me would be a tie between Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Ms., and Charleston SC. We dont travel very much so for me these were like "woo hoo" trips. LOL

Hello ladies and Mr. Spouse.........speaking of France............read this somewhere as to the REAL reason French women don't get fat:
Start off your day with a cigarette and a cup of very strong espresso........then maybe a cup of yogurt and a piece of fresh fruit.........then start an argument with your husband and then make passionate makeup sex.........
For midmorning snack a cigarette and maybe a nice piece of cheese.......then another smoke.....
For lunch a cigarette and very nice glass of french wine..........then maybe if you are not too full a cup of soup and a slice of french bread.......and of course one more glass of wine and another couple of cigarettes while you visit with your girlfriends and describe your lovemaking encounter that morning.............
For afternoon break just a cigarette (don't want to spoil dinner)
Arrive home after a stressful day at work and have invited another couple over for dinner..........husband is already home and has a nice cold martini very dry waiting while you soak in the tub and smoke a few cigarettes while unwinding from your day............husband has planned a simple dinner of smoked duck, fresh fruit, some very good French cheese, fresh French bread and fresh butter.......for desert cherry compose and some very good strong brewed espresso............husband makes comment about pants appear to be fitting you a bit too tight.........what?.......what did you say?..........throw glass of French wine in husbands face and slaps him.........he grabs you and before you know it the pants are gone and the two of you are enthralled in another love making session..........soon after friends arrive..........you and your husband are flushed from the love making and neither one of you have looked more beautiful and more thin........hmmmmm.............eat a small amount......drink a lot.......laugh.........send each other "those looks" from across the table......smile.........have dessert and the very strong espresso and smoke..........say goodbye to friends and then never even make it to bedroom.........right there in the kitchen........then of course a couple more cigarettes and time for bed...........
The real reason French women are so thin........cigarettes, strong espresso and sex............

Warning........Vivre please disregard the above post...........afraid it might make you hyperventilate........Shokk

Dear Community Members, We would like to propose closing the political threads due to the negative climate that they have brought to the boards. Politics are tough in this kind of open forum. We would like to suggest an "economic update" thread to break the barriers. We are posting this is in the other political thread(s) as well before deleting. Many thanks for your feedback/understanding. the Breastcancer.org team
-
Dear Moderators: Can you "lock" these threads, rather than delete? There is a great deal of evidence of friendship among the members within each group, as well as a great deal of information about supplements/hormones/therapies within this Republican thread in particular. I don't think the good history of these conversations should be taken away from their participants. (Much of the "unpleasantness" has already been deleted anyway!)
just my 2 cents...
-
i personally hope that perhaps you would reconsider and not delete this thread. anyone who has read the posts is well aware of the negative and hostile atmosphere. perhaps there is another way to regulate the problem. i for one am having a very bad year with my health and have found this thread to be a distraction from my deteriorating health. being a political junkie the thread has been a source of information and exchange with like-minded ladies. closing 2 threads does not guarantee that negativity won't or can't move to another thread. and if that happens, then what is the solution, closing the entire site? for me that would be a disaster as this site has come to be a lifeline for me. a tightening of the rules and regulations might help the problem.
i realize that both of you spend many hours caring for bc.org and your work is much appreciated.
i guess i just hoping that this problem can be dealt with in a mature and sensible manner.
please reconsider, maria
-
I agree with Ann and/or Sherri G.
It has been stated time and again, if a thread or poster is not to your liking ... don't read it!
I read these two threads, but rarely post on either of them anymore. There is plenty of good information in both threads.
What is missing is respect for others views and posting respectfully about our political leaders.
Freedom of speech comes with an enormous responsibility.
The "report this comment" button should be removed from this site altogether.
-
Oh jeez Tami and Melissa.............our political threads?..........this is just too bad..........I have really enjoyed this thread......we are passionate about our beliefs.......both sides..........wish things had turned out differently............Shokk
-
I know that some will disagree but this forum is MOVING BEYOND and I see nothing wrong with women discussing politics, in fact I personally would rather discuss politics than sex, fashion and make up. If we are really moving beyond cancer it would seem to me that this kind of discussion is just as important to some as many of the other threads are to others. I agree with Ann and Sherri on what has already been deleted and the report this post button. And I don't see how "economic update" will change anything where people's opinions are concerned. Perhaps a forum entitled Current Events for the people who want to engage in this type of discussion?
-
I also hate what is happening. I believe that the problem began with a "outside" troublemaker coming into the thread...A person that had been banned by the mods on other threads...with many different names who's sole purpose seemed to be to attack a few ladies and cause trouble. He appeared here under many names and at the request of some you the report this post was used the correct way. Some how the report button went from a tool to a weapon after that. Post with only a difference of opinions were removed. I remember many ladies saying at that time, they had never used the report button before that time.
If you remove this thread, I ask that you un-ban or remove from probation the ladies who have been punished for only having their post wrongly reported. They may sound off here, but help and receive help on the many other threads on this site.
-
AMEN, SherriG, Shokk,Paulette !!
Please moderators - don't close these threads. As Maria said, it is such a nice way to have lively and fun distractions from everyday problems. Aren't we all adults here?? I'm not forced to read any particular thread or topic. Have we become so very politically correct that we have to shy away from strong feelings and opinions? I think you guys do a great job and that is why I donated to this site. Please don't change this
Amy
-
The only problem with removing that "report" feature was when that Blaest was here and causing trouble ... some people couldn't resist answering him so you really couldn't ignore him, then he changed his name all the time... really, I think the best would be to change the way people can get an id ... that way they can't come back ten seconds later with the name blaest1, 2 and 3 ...
Have a good one ladies!! And spouse!
-
Hey Mods - Don't close down the political threads. We're big girls here. We should have an opportunity to converse about politics. Yes, this is a touchy subject - but so is Cancer... I don't think anyone here has offended anyone. We are merely stating our opinions. What's so bad about that? If others are offended by our opinions, they can simply choose to ignore this thread. Please reconsider your decision. My goodness... after all we've been through... the last thing we deserve or need is censorship of this nature. The girls here have not named names or lashed out at any one in particular. We are just voicing our opinions pertaining to a policital party. Since when is that so bad? Isn't that what America is all about? We have breast cancer AND we have opinions...let us continue to discuss these issues openly and maturely. Thanks Mods... I know you'll make the right decision... BTW... I sent you a PM - regarding my donation... did you get it? I would really like an answer - THANKS!
-
Removing this thread seems like an extreme reaction to the issues that have arisen.
The "report this post" feature should be used to alert the moderators to posts that violate the rules, but it should be the moderators who make the call of whether or not the post is actually in violation of the rules. If enough members report a post, it might be prudent to block it from public view until the moderators have an opportunity to review the post, but obviously as we saw last weekend, it is possible for a group of women to get together to use the report feature as an attack. If members are found to be blocking posts that don't violate the rules, particularly if it is the same group over and over, they should be subject to the same type of discliplinary action as those who post inappropriate content.
That the same group of women who orchestrated an action on this thread which at least one of them couldn't help bragging about, then announces with much fanfare that the are leaving the boards and/or the Obama thread, and call for the removal of both political threads as soon as their guy is sworn in as president seems eerily like an attempt at censorship by the thought police.
The Obama ladies have been finding it hard to sustain the universal positivity going forward as their guy is faced with making decisions as opposed to vague campaign promises. They showed that as they reacted to choices he made about the innauguration program. That shouldn't mean that the interactions of the women (and men) on this thread should be shut down. We don't always agree about everything, and if someone posts something offensive or hurtful here, their post should be reported, but we shouldn't be "punished" because some are finding it hard to play nice.
-
Not to change the subject but..............Geithner was just approved.
-
Oh and PatMom...YOU ROCK!
-
i do read many threads without posting. i'm confused as to why the dem thread is so anxious for the political threads to be shut down. if they chose to discontinue their conversations about their beliefs and views then so be it. but why would they care if the republican thread wants to continue discussing our opinions and thoughts. isn't that a first amendment right? i for one have never posted there because i have differing opinions and have never once reported a post in the 3 years i've been with bc.org. kinda like watching tv, if you don't like the show, change the channel, no?
-
I believe that to remove a thread that has had 6500+ posts and over 84,000 + views is wrong and an injustice to the survivor who started the thread.
Please help me understand how you can allow a select few ladies dictate what threads are "allowed". There was an orchestrated attack here several weeks ago, with "bragging" about it on the other threads. Many funny, great women were banned by these ladies ON PURPOSE as they knew the "5 reported posts" would result in being temporarily banned.
Two most controversial topics are politics and religion. You dont agree with it, dont read it. I am a conservative, I now stay away from the democrat thread. I am a christian, I stay away from atheist thread.
It is a "no brainer". If you dont agree with a topic, or are easily offended by a topic......DONT READ IT.
I am sure that if this thread gets removed, there are other breast cancer message forums .......
-
Well, I'm going to miss all you ladies. I feel really bad about this. We were just getting to know each other, and new people were coming in, and we were talking about everyday stuff, trips, hormones and French weight loss programs, and now...
We had fun, and I bet we'll remember this past year the most. I know you all feel the same.
Love ya
Rosemary
P.S. Sherri, see you after the game Sunday. I never forget a 50cent bet, you too Susie.
-
A few people have posted they would like to see the political threads removed, well I would like to see the sex thread removed and the atheist thread removed and a few others. Do you hear how ridiculous that sounds? If a thread offends you, don't read it, exercise some self control!
-
I too hope the mods will reconsider. Why should the actions of a few punish the rest of us? You really should get rid of the "Report this post" button since it is being abused. As others have said - if you don't like a thread - don't read it.
-
Ladies, I dont know if you guys are aware, but Alaska Deb passed away yesterday..........
-
-
Don't know why she is instigating this ..... like they reported the post I did on HOPIUM .. where even the journalist was commenting on drug dealers trying to brand Obama's name on heroin packs. Some people deleted that post .. nothing derogatory about them ... but it was their candidate .. so for some reason free speech is not allowed??
