Okay folks - I can drive, and I had better be able to do a good job of it by the 21st! The Black Mtn. Rd. Indian place is right close by the office I am temping in, so I make that drive before dawn each day. I'm supposed to be working there 5 or 6 days this month so I'll be fine.
Please cut me a break only if I need it - I appreciate your thoughtfulness but I am not yet an invalid. Just a bit dingy.

Hi Ladies,
I am so tired today, just tired of having cancer. It has been a week since I had Chemo and I still feel pretty bad, Seems like I get down one week later. My intestines are driving me crazy. I am either stopped up are going to strong. It is hard to eat anything, they hurt so much. I am still trying to drink, however. I have my next chemo (#3 of 6) on the 19th (TAC) so I do not know if I can make it to the lunch but if I am OK I would love to. I am up for anything, I live in the Mt. Helix area so Adams is great. I look really ugly now and feel a lot older than my 50 years, I use to run and exercise and was really health conscious before this all started, now I am barly strong enough to eat good food. It takes such an effort to cook it and the smells are so strong I can barely handle it. Oh well thanks for listening. Kristi
-
Kristi-Dec 19, 2006 was my last TAC of 6. Days 4 & 5 were the worst for me. Everything you are experiencing is normal for what you are going through. TAC does get progressively harder to handle but you will be done before you know it. My onc gave me Protonix for the tummy problems and it worked really well. Unfortunately they don't have anything for the smells. My MIL painted my hallway right after I had #6. Although I appreciated it I thought I was going to die from the fumes. I drank Ensure when I could not eat anything. I lived off chocolate milk shakes too. Not good for the waist line but certainly helped me get through the bad days. If you make it to the luncheon on the 21st that would be great but don't push yourself. I stayed in bed for at least 5 days after each treatment. 7 if I could get away with it.
Sylvia-Glad you made it home safe. I will take you up on the offer to drive. Do they sell margarita's with Indian food? Okay wine will do.

Kristi - just know that you are welcomed, no matter if you decide at the last minute whether or not it's going to be a tolerable day.
Now, having made my case for this Indian place, I didn't see it when I was in the area last week. Of course, I could have been parked right next to it and had a brain fart. That happens these days!
So, do you want to come right down 15 to the Chili's at Mission Gorge Rd? I keep hearing the word MARGARITA thrown out there.
It's in a strip mall (along with my favorite cheap Japanese/Sushi place) that doesn't get a lot of activity. Well, except the Chili's is packed at lunchtime during the work week.
Wanted to let you know of a nice thing that happened to me on this early, rainy Monday morning.
I, totally clueless, received a phone call from the Dave, Shelley and Chainsaw Show on KGB 101 (classic rock). They have a holiday promotion called a Grand-a-Day Give Away. In 50 words or less, one needs to explain a need and how $1000 might help out. Well, where do I begin?!?
I was chosen this morning. They read my 50 words on the air, asked me how Christmas was going to be this year (I answered very lean) and whether making my Kaiser payment (now overdue) would make a difference. A-yup!
If you'd like to hear my aphasia in action, up close and personal, you can go to
http://www.dscshow.com/pages/dscondemand.html
and click on the segment Dec.15th, 8am, part 3, Grand A Day giveaway
I feel so blessed. I have always given to charitable causes, even when I had no money. I never thought I'd be on the receiving end. The IRONY- the fund is created through the sales of their DVD and this year the title is "NO BRAINER". Oh my!
Lisa
-
Very cool - you deserve something nice this year for sure.
I like Chili's - can your brain stop farting enough to give us a bit more info - that's not an area of town I know at all.
-
LISA THAT IS FANTASTIC!!!!!!!
How great for you..I listened to the segment..you rock girl!!
Chilis sounds great...do you want me to pick you up again??
Where is it ??
-
PS..I will be the designated driver this time Lisa..you go for that Margarita...
-
Yep, Susan - I lived my first 13 years in SD west of I-5 and didn't believe anything existed to the east.
It's not Chili's on Mission Gorge really - that one is way out in Santee. I don't think there's a single one of us out yonder. This one has an address of 4252 Camino del Rio, North. If you come off the 15 or the 805 at I-8 it's the first exit to the East. Fairmont Ave/ Mission Gorge. You take a left on the exit (don't even need to leave the exit lanes from the big freeways) and go through two lights and you'll see a Mobil/Body Beautiful car wash on the left corner of Cam del Rio North, turn left, pull right on in the parking lot.'cause Chili's is the biggest thing there!
Thanks for the nice comments on the Give Away, despite my lack of words. Grrr! I won't even get anything until at least middle of Jan., but I'll have my Kaiser premium covered for that month!

Wow, Lisa, that's so cool about the radio station giveaway. That's fantastic! And you sound just fine on the podcast.
-
Hi all,
Just got back from up north and am still trying to regain my sanity and strength! Just hoping I don't have to go back before the end of December. Haven't really been on the boards much at all.
Lisa - I listened to your radio phone call and you sounded wonderful. Am so happy for you!
Kristi - hope you feel well enough to join us.
Liz - loved your picture of the Bay. We do live in a beautiful area.
Look forward to seeing you all on Sunday at the Chili's on Cam del Rio. What time are we getting together?
Hugs, Jeanne

Is one o'clock still ok so the church goers can do the morning service...
personally any time is good for me
-
me too - well not ANY time - it has to be after 11 (a.m. - p.m. I can do)
-
1:00 works for me. Sylvia shall I come to your house at 12:00? In my opinion Chilli's has the best margaritas around.
-
Chemo in 12 hours from now, I will see how I feel, but don't expect me, maybe in January. Thanks for the invite! Have fun, haven't had a margarita for several months, I have enough cocktails at the oncologists office. Have a great Christmas and a happy and HEALTHY New Year. Kristi
-
Kristi-I am praying for you today. Hope this one doesn't zap you to bad. Rest. Merry Christmas to you too.
-
Brenda--12 o'clock is great....are we all still planning on a small exchange gift?

I don't care one way or the other about gifts..or a white elephant exchange..
-
By the way there is a Tuesday Morning there too...
-
Just checking ladies -- 1:00 or 12:00? White elephant exchange - gift exchange - $$ amounts. Quack quack - trying to get them all in a row.

Hi everyone!
I tried posting while in the car back on 12/3 when on the way home from seeing my PS at UCLA, but I guess it didn't go through?!
I'm so looking forward to spending some time with everyone on Sunday. You are all a bright spot for me. There is so much strength within all of you. Chili's, 1pm? Gift exchange? I'm up for anything - anywhere.
My reconstruction is scheduled for 2/24 with Dr. Festekjian up at UCLA. I am ready. The oncology radiologist suggested I wait 6-12 month post-radiation before reconstruction and now my time has come ;-)
John, the eldest, is home from UCSB. He's off skiing today and the other boys are heading off to Big Bear tonight for a weekend of skiing with friends so will be very quiet around the house. We have our executive dinner tonight for work at Donovans and I am truly looking forward to it.
Look forward to seeing everyone on Sunday!
Hugs all around,
Lisa #3
