Oh, Happy Anniversary to you, Anna!!!!!!!

We can celebrate crappy anniversary on Friday-that is my SNB/port placement anniversary, and I look at that as the reason I've gone haywire every Halloween since.

Poor Greg.  I hated how cancer took my baby's Halloween away (like at 15 months he'd care), so I totally overdo it every year now.  We did Bob the Builder/Bob the Builder's Dad and Wendy the next year.  Last year we did Wizard of Oz (Greg was Tin Man, Daniel was Scarecrow and I was Dorothy), and this year we are doing Toy Story.  I'm Jessie, Greg is Woody, and Daniel is Buzz Lightyear.  We have a lady at "old home-home" (what Daniel calls it) who MAKES our costumes by hand and does an amazing job.

So, I am excited about Friday!!!

Anna, post pictures of your little cherub!  What is he going to be for Halloween?

ML-post pics of your grandkids for Halloween!  Same question!

    Odalys-Same request for you!!

    Marg-Same request for you!

I love Halloween!  The memories of trick-or-treating all day long and walking in the crunchy leaves from house to house are awesome memories.

Deb, you know I will post pictures. I think Sebastian is Tigger this year...and Hayden is going to be a pink panther. Can't wait for the pictures.

I agree, Anna we need an update of that little one. If you need help posting let us know.

In fact I'm looking forward to all the updates of the children in our lives.

Till later, all have a good spooky night.

Hello sisters.  Hope everyone had a good Halloween.  Steven was grounded so we didn't do much; just handed out candy.  I did give my staff a pizza lunch and they all brought in candy and other goodies.  We had a lot of fun for a change.  It was a great morale booster.

    Have a good weekend!

    Hello,

I have posted before but new to this one. I am to start my 1st round of AC 11/5. I  am pretty nervous about it. I  have read and read and read about these drugs and all the side effects. Can't say I am looking forward to any of them. My daughters are all very supportive so that is very helpful. They even helped me pick out my "new hair". We found something that looked exactly like mine!  I have made some sleep caps for my shiny head(whenever that occurs) I am always cold. I will get my scripts filled before Friday and get some Biotene mouthwash which I read can be very helpful. I already have some stool softners but my onc. spoke more of diarrhea than anything. I do have to go Tues for a MUGA scan. I imagine this week will fly by.

This is my 2nd time in dealing with BC. My 1st time was 5 years ago and then only had lumpectomy followed by radiation. I had a bilateral mastecomy with no reconstruction this time. One side was cancer free but I opted to have it removed also. No regrets there. Just couldn't think of doing this again.

As of now l am only having the 4 rounds of AC followed by Arimedex. I will be off work during the first 3 tx which will be nice.

I'm not looking forward to Friday but yet I will be glad that it is one day closer to the end of treatments.

I'm glad I am not alone here, it seems as if we are all on the same page and have the same feelings, questions, etc.

I have vowed to keep a positve attitude and a good sense of humor even if I have to hug the porcelain goddess occasionally.

Twingle your hair look nice, I never would have guessed.

Hey there!!  We had a great Halloween.  I promise to get some pictures posted soon!  (I wish we could just upload them directly here!)

Mom had round 2 of 6 chemos last week.  She is hanging in there.  We still have lots of youth sports and various kid hapenings to keep us busy.  I can't believe it is almost Thanksgiving time.  We saw snow up at the cabin, so we are hoping there is enough to ski on by then.

Just fiddle-farting around the house today.  I managed to lose 30 pounds.  Trying to keep up the good work.

Stay safe and warm.  I think we lost Kim around this time last year and that makes me sad Frown

    Hugs for everyone...

    Anna - Happy Anniversaries!

Deb - Sounds like Halloween is a BLAST at your house!!  How fun!!

ML - Loved all of the pictures!

Odalys - You're my kind of boss. I LOVE pizza!

Marg - Lost 30 lbs!!  That's fantastic!!    Continued prayers for your mom!

I had a bit of a scare this week.   I had my annual mammo & chest x-ray last week, and lo & behold something showed up in my lung.    I actually got the results from my allergist while I was seeing him regarding a sinus infection/cold.   He wanted me to get a chest x-ray and I told him that I had just had one for my annual exam.   He called & got the results and told me to go directly to my oncologist's office to schedule a CT scan.    So........Friday morning I had the CT scan &  I got the results yesterday - no evidence of cancer!   I was so excited to hear those words, that I completely forgot to ask what exactly it is they saw.   I have my check-up with onco. tomorrow, so I'll ask then.

Have to get ready for my one & only scheduled shift at work!

    Take care everyone!!

Odalys, I did JC back in 99 and did AMAZING (lost 30 lbs).  I was eating constantly.  The menus were excellent, you had TONS of food to add to their entrees, and I just would graze from the day's selections all day long.

Well, in January, I tried to do it again (gained those awful 18 lbs).  They changed since 99.  It is AWFUL. You DO NOT EAT.  I failed miserably.  There isn't a HUGE selection of foods to add to your day.  Nope-just some awful vitamin bars (chalk), and a pouch of broth.

My rec. would be NOT Jenny Craig.  If you like to graze, NOT Jenny Craig.  Unless you could magically go back 10 years, and I would then say HECK YES.  I even am a lifetime member there.

I have lost 14 pounds of those crappy 18.  How?  Have no idea, but I have been using "Slim Shots," which I think RULE.

They taste kind of oogy, but they really do suppress your appetite.  I think that has really helped me.  I didn't use any yesterday and ate candy all day long, and gained 2.5 pounds, so I took one today!

My goal is to be at my starting weight by November 15th (the day my Dad died).

Gotta shower, P/T conferences in an HOUR. Yikes!!!!  Deb

I don't ever take pictures of myself, but now maybe I will :)

How I did it was 3 months of the Medifast diet. This program is not for the faint of heart.  You eat their items 5x a day and then have one lean meat and vegetable a day.  I never stuck to it 100%, but the pounds started coming off right away.  I am now transitioning to real food.  (BTW most of the food is awful, I have to put salsa on everything, but the bars and the shakes are not bad)  Mostly this diet took me from "I can't lose the weight."  To "I am in complete control of how much my body weighs."  I also hike or do aerobic/strength training 5 days a week.  But I was doing almost the same level of activity before and the pounds still crept on.

    So my new eating arrangement:

Breakfast~ 1 scrambled egg + 2 scrambled egg whites, salsa or bowl of oatmeal with a tiny bit of raw sugar and flaxseed or small bowl Grape Nuts cereal and skim milk

Snack~ protein bar or some nuts

Lunch~ salad with oil and vinegar, maybe some lean meat

Snack~ shake or some carrots or rice cakes

Dinner~ lean meat serving, as many vegetables as I want

At first it was very hard to give up sweets, bread, pasta, rice, fruit.  I did sneak a little in here and there.  Once I reach my goal weight I will bring back some whole grains and fruit.  I will say that these Medifast products are loaded with soy and that concerned me being er+++.  With my onc's blessing, I decided to on this diet for 3-4 months (almost done) and see where my er levels went.  Well, prior to starting, my estradiol went up to 31 (and I had gained some weight....) and one month into the diet (and 14 pounds lighter) my estradiol went down to 8!!!!

So having 30 less pounds means less estrogen running around.

Boy, you all are getting an earful eh???  I am waiting to buy new clothes until I lose more..... clothes are getting ridiculously big.  That has been wonderful.

Marg~ I'm so happy for you! It feels so good to lose weight. I wonder why I don't. I have lost as much as 80 lbs before, but now it seems like I will never have these pounds off again.

I know it is my life style, and bad choice of food. Plain and simple.

    Grrrrrrrrr

    Thanks Deb Laughing

Ody ~ Thank you for the Good Morning hug.... I  can always  use a hug.

I still want to see those Halloween pictures...

How are the gas prices where you live? Here it is $1.97 per gal. I got it for $2.14 on election day.  I wish it would last.

We even went to Roanoke yesterday for dinner. It's always fun to go into the city. But the 45 minutes one way was to expensive to just go to dinner. We needed that gas for work.

We took the babies and Cory and Jessie. Good thing we have the truck, two car seats is a hard fit with 4 adults. And Michael and I are not small people. Embarassed

On the home front we have been having plumbing problems. Guess the town will have to come tomorrow to see what is going on. The emergency number was just "leave a message"

We have been having trouble and thought it was fixed, but this morning the laundry water backed up and went all over the place. Grrrrrr

    So back to square one.

Hope you all are having a better Sunday.
