Shirley...well, we do agree on your previous post.  I do not fault you for not saying something as a child.  It is us as adults that need to set the example. We do agree there is no room for predjudice, no matter who it is against.  As far as the side kick, well, we will never agree on that.  But the fact that we came together on at least one thing, is a good thing!

Ok, first of all, regarding the alleged Sara Bernhard and Madonna statements, consider the sources.  They are both ridiculous. Bernhard's statement is reprehensible and Madonna is...well...I'll leave it there.

As far as  McCain's choice of VP being Gov. Palin....  I don't think I dislike her as much as I am furious with McCain for choosing her.  Let's be real here.  She  brings nothing to the table. During the "Couric" interviews, the woman couldn't name a newspaper that she reads, couldn't name a supreme court decision, and all of her answers seemed "canned" and rehearsed.

Whenever she puts her foot in her mouth it is waved off as "gotcha politics"...Really?    Ok, I will concede that unfortunately many people can not name a supreme court decision off the top of their heads.  But isn't it kind of expected from a VP?

I think McCain blew it.  If he wanted a woman on the ticket, there are several much more qualified repub governors he could have chosen, Gov. Jodi Rell of CT is one that comes to mind.   What does Palin bring to the McCain ticket?  What?   I used to like and respect John McCain, but that went out the window with his nominee for VP.  I think he was thinking about the end result of the "win" and not what happens to the country should Gov. Palin need to take the helm. As far as McCain himself, I don't think he is up for the job.  He seems to get flustered easily and comes across (IMHO) as somewhat fuzzy, like he is lost "somewhere".  He also has a quick temper.

People have said that Obama is no more qualified.  I disagree.  First of all, the man has a law degree and taught Constituional Law.  I believe he knows what he is talking about.  He is a supporter of trade agreements that favor keeping American jobs here ,  he is a supporter of prevailing wage laws,  universal health care, just to name a few reasons.  As far as him having Joe Biden as a VP choice?  I think it's pretty clear what Joe Biden brings to the ticket...foreign policy experience....lots of it.  Obama is smart enough to know who he needs around him. I can't wait till this election is over and we can all get back to the business of nasty old cancer.

Umm, just a bit, LOL. And since somebody asked, the KoolAid mentions, suggestions that all Black folks will vote for Obama just because, suggestions that Obama would have Al Sharpton as a cabinet member because he's a brother, too, pics of Obama shining Palin's shoes - and the bevvy of other similar comments on the "respectfully" republican thread Undecided - are racist as hell. Does it matter WHY they were said? Having folks tell you that yes, we're offended only seems to net "But here's the reason!" comments - which is exactly why I stopped visiting over there ------->

Okay, I've broken my promise more than once. but I have to address this.  I believe I'm the one who said something about the Koolaide remark.  That's not racist, not sexist.  I will defend myself and myself only. I have NEVER said anything racist about Obama.  NEVER!  And,I'll add this one in, I do not think Colin Powell endorsed Obama because he's black.  I never said all blacks will vote for Obama.

Felicia, I don't have time to go through all the comments that I find offensive on this thread.  You mentioned Koolaid, all black folks will vote for Obama, Colin Powell endorsed Obama because he's black, and the Al Sharpton thing.

And I know this has been explained ad nauseum before - and O4P/Amy needs no help defending herself - but her comment - in context - was actually about the audacity of McSame thinking that just ANY woman - i.e. any human with a vagina - would be good enough, like all females are interchangable. Show of hands: How many people didn't say "Who?"

I'm still offended at referring to Palin or any woman as a Vagina.  I'm sorry that you women do not.

Okay, I'm really done now. Bye bye

blue- speak for yourself- we don't need to invite trolls when they have their own thread to trash obama.

nic- don't worry, I don't read trolls negative posts on this thread.  I see the name and skip down. Anything negative posted here is a reflection of people who don't respect the spirit of the thread and shows what kind of people they are.

I just watched Brian Willams' interview with the troll and his sidekick.  Wow...they were really stroking each others egos, as well as their own!!  That's really all it was.  She didn't have much to say as to why she is qualified for VP, other than her "oil" experience.  Sad.  Oh well.  Get the vote out!!!

Amy, I was referring to the derogatory remarks.  We can all have civil conversations without bringing female genitalia into the discourse.  I enjoy reading these interesting discussions, as long as it doesn't get fanatical. When things become fanatical, then the whole thread loses credibility.  JMO.

Not being belligerent here, just giving my view.

Wow, I am too tired to read everything word for word tonight but will add what I think is important.  Someone wanted to know why people here wanted to vote for Obama.  I'd be happy to answer that.  I was a Hillary supporter and wanted to see her get the nomination.  when she got it I was left with Obama and McCain.  I typically vote democrat but wanted to listen to what people had to say.  As you all have told me Obama is a charmer and that he is.  My problem was that most things coming out of McCains mouth was negative and hurtful things against his opponent.  Nothing about what he wanted.  Then when he was ready to announce his running mate he made alot of fuss about it and we get Sarah Palin.  At first I thought how low to pick a unheard of woman just to make a woman VP choice because there was discussion after the dem convention that Obama didn't select HIllary which I think would have made a winning combo but it would have been terrible in the long run because they both wanted to be top dog.

The more you saw Sarah the more you realized she didn't know.  Obama may not have served long in the Senate but it is alot longer than Sarah did.  I'm not sure what it is about her with me but I just don't like her.  I get that feeling (you know when someone scratches their fingernails on a black board) that just makes me want to cringe.  I wish I had a better answer.

My next concern was McCain's age.  He is alread of the age that our gov't feels you should be retiring and moving onto the next phase of your life and not taking on huge responsibility.  He may be very healthy right now, but we all know as we age our bodies don't respond the same and the stress of running the whilte house could possibly be too much for him.  I don't wish harm or ill will on anyone.  I know I can't see Sarah Palin running the country just because she can see Russia out her window (please take that as a joke like it was meant)!  :)  But she has less experience than Obama and she could really potentially have the opportunity to run the country.

Anyway, are they good reasons?  Maybe not but they are MINE!  And in the US we get to have our own opinions and go with them.  That is one of the reasons I love this country!  I welcome anyone and everyone who wants to chat here (just as I jump to the other zone myself but got too stressed out  LOL).  But please don't rag on me for why I chose a person because my mind is made up unless something really extreme happens.

    LuAnn,

All your concerns are valid.  And the troll is past the age of retirement.  It's just plain silly to think he's able to serve with a sound mind and body for another 4 years.  I can't stand the side kick either.  She's very smug.  Not a good quality.  And her seeing Russia from her house...sadly..is not a joke as to why she thinks she has foreign experience.  In no way, shape or form is this woman able to run a power country like the US.  I am going to be canvassing very hard for the next couple of weeks.  I know Obama will win, but its not time to lay back yet.  Rock the vote!!

    Obama '08..it's almost here!!!

dahlia- vagina isn't a dirty word. What McCain did by choosing her is derogatory to women and to Palin. He shouldn't have put her in the position she was so unqualified for and she shouldn't have accepted.

You might as well have used the "c" word instead of vagina to describe her.  That's how it came across, to me at least. I can accept your opinion.

Its not what you say, its how you say it.  Take care.

I also cannot accept the use of vagina to describe a women, amy how would you like it if we described you as a dick?  dick is not a dirty word either.  To vote for Obama, you have to believe murder is ok, because is for abortions, you have to believe gay marriages is ok but it is against God will and the american way.  You come across as a fanatic.  Sara Palin is very qualified, I admire her very much.

I must ask why people who do not support Obama feel they must come here and tell us what to think. As to homosexuality being un biblical, that is a discussion on how one interpretes the bible. Un American?? Is there something in the Constitution that I missed in school?

I'm speaking only for myself, but please, PLEASE stop coming here and berating us for our beliefs. You go  your way and we'll go ours.

last time I checked, we are a nation of laws.  Murder is illegal.  Abortion is legal.  Abortion does not equal murder under the rule of law.

    Spar -

If your religous beliefs are such that gay marriage is wrong, so be it.

Under our Constitution, your religious beliefs are not binding on anyone else.  Exercise your freedom all day long.  The Constitution prevents you from using your religion to restrict other's rights.

That's what makes our country great.  Preserve the greatness.

Lord forgive me for I know not what I do!  I'm breaking my word.

Obama is not for gay marriage.  At the forum when the minister asked Obama what marriage meant to him he said marriage was between and MAN AND A WOMAN.  So, that's out the door unless he changes his mind.

I heard something great last night.  Obama will hold his rally after he wins, right here in Chicago.  Now thats gonna be something!

Spar:  I think freedom of speech takes a curve when you are posting on a breast cancer support board.  We are all different cultures and religions coming here for support, and should be careful how we word things.

IBCspouse:  Before you go off on something, maybe you should look at the facts.  My reference to the spelling had nothing to do with you, it had to do with someone criticizing how you mispelled Larry Flynn Flynt -  and I stuck up for you!   Of course I probably mispelled his name again.  And when you come here and make a post stating Michelle Obama belongs on a box of pancake mix...well enough said.  So if you are going to refer to anything that I have said, please just reach out and get your facts straight.

The following is a post from Daffodil after you wrote why you have problems with spelling.

"Wonderful spouse, I was correcting the spelling I've seen all over the boards. In fact, it might be a bit suspicious about why I would know this???Wink"

Here is copy of what I said.

I made my attempts to communicate on the republican thread.  Never said a word about Obama.  My posts were always bipartisan.  I found the comments made to me about bad spelling and sentences not written in the right context to be offensive.  Daffodil wrote a post saying how surprised she is at how often things are not spelled correctly on these boards.  I found that an insult to every breast cancer survivor who comes here for support.   It wasnt necessary in my view.

dahlia- I can't believe you consider the word vagina akin to cunt. I've heard people say she was chosen for her breasts, but considering this is a breast cancer site, I figured it's better not to get into the boob thing. Sometimes it's what you read into things and assumptions made.

nicki- I figured Obama would hold the rally in chicago since he has to be there to vote anyway. I'd give anything to be there, but it'll probably be in the middle of the night some time. I'm going to try very hard to stay awake and I have a friend from the west coast calling me to wake me up if i fall asleep.

I had a little time yesterday at Barnes and Noble to peruse some magazines, and I found this article to be particularly interesting. It talks about the "vetting process" of Palin, how she was discovered, and how she was chosen (not by McCain) over many other more qualified women.

    Very insightful.
