Positive Obama thread

Just a clarification about Donna aka djd. She's banned yes but that's temporary. She's not permanently banned but I am afraid that this might have made her decide to leave for good. I have asked to reconsider but not sure if that would change her mind.
Hugs,
Fumi

Mod's fingers are crossed that this new forum helps cool the climate on the boards

I would be so sad to see the end of this thread. As a Canadian Liberal, I have been naturally drawn to the Democratic Party, not least because it seems to attract smart, well-educated and worldly people who can see beyond U.S. borders.
I've learned a lot about the U.S. election process, and hope to continue learning more about how the government handles issues that affect other countries (as most of the issues do!). I'm saddened by the actions of some who really didn't seem to understand that this thread was never meant to be a debating forum between political parties. I hope things are much clearer to all, now.
-
Madalyn, very well said.
Incomprehensible to me that Donna (djd) and Felicia have been temporarily banned. All of this does have a chilling effect on me.
Lindasa, I know what you mean.

Ladies,
I know there has been talk of shutting this thread down, but I like this thread. Why not just post if you wanna post and if you are done here then dont post.
WOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO, trusting and believeing in our new President Obama is a good thing!!!
-
Tracy.........I concur with you. I don't get at all why others would post here? It makes no sense?? I have never visited the republican board, I have no interest in it. Obama is doing AMAZING things on a daily basis!! I look forward to coming here and catching up on those things with my other BC & Obama sisters! That's what this thread was intended for. You pretty much know when you click on this thread its going to be Obama supporters. Why would you try and inflict your thought process on here? So...I am with you!!! President Obama is AWESOME and is just tearing it up!!!! WHOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!
President Obama Rules!!!!!!!!!! :-)

Hey Guys, I'm making a new, starting over positive thread http://community.breastcancer.org/forum/101/topic/728081 . Maybe this one can stay 100% free from naysayers.
-
Okay Everyone,
I concur with ObamaisPres. Please, let's start over.
As for the temporary bans, there are reasons that you may not all see. So, you need to trust that we are following up with people, and letting them know why. We hope that everyone returns, and that harmony can ensue.
Please, let's think like our new President, and look forward!
Best,
Melissa and Tami

For anyone who is concerned, my ban was lifted this morning.
But I am removing this political board from my view and taking a break from the boards.
-
Donna -- glad to hear from you -- hope you get this message -- thanks for posting the beautiful photos you did, and I hope you had a great trip.
-
I see all of my stuff has been deleated. I would really love to know why??? It's like a game now, huh? Maybe its time you people grow up!! These are words!!!!! Letters on a key board!! Get a clue and learn to be an adult!! So freakin ridiculous!! I know for fact I did not post anything negative. Unless you have the thought capacity of a kindergartner. Which...is apparently the case.

Little-G, I think it is only the post on this page that was removed by the moderators, and you'll see several other peoples posts, including one of mine were deleted by the moderators as well as part of their fresh start for the political threads. While I know that my post conformed to the rules, it could have been seen as inflammatory by some, so lets just make an effort to move forward from here.
This country is facing an economic crisis, and while I think everyone is happy that the federal government is taking steps that no individual group, or company, state would be able to take, the specifics of that plan are largely unknown, and something tells me that there will be much concern about Congress voting for such a sweeping plan without being fully aware of the details.
Hopefully Congress will learn from other "umbrella legislation" like the Patriot Act, and the Iraq war resolution to take the time to go through the proposed bill and keep the best parts, but eliminate the rest. Even good ideas can be ruined when they are lumped in with things that would never be passed on their own merits.

Pat..I respect what you're saying. I just do not understand the "deleting" and "editing" of posts that should be taken for what they are. It is my opinion that the people behind this type of action are the same collective thought process that got our country into the black hole that it became. It makes no sense. Who is one person, or a few people to decide what can and can't be said? What's offensive and what isn't? These are the same people that cry "socialism" to new ideas but yet they have no problem suppressing what they think is wrong. I suppose only when it works in their favor. In my opinion. It takes more than letters on a computer screen to stop me. I continue to support our President Obama each day. Unlike the republicans (can I say that word on here, or is that against BC law? We'll find out) who decided before they even met with President Obama that they would not agree with anything he said. Even though, before they met with him yesterday, didn't know fully what he would say, they already agreed to not agree. Dosn't that seem like backwards thinking? Time magazine said the republicans agreed to meet with him so they can have a photo op. Much the same as Palin wanting to go to the Whitehouse party. Do you really think its to wish President Obama well? Ummm....no. She fought her angry, nasty, name calling fight and now wants to go to the White House. It's to put herself back into the lime light since we are all happily moving about the country without her, and without hearing about her and what a "maverick" she is. The majority of the people could care less, so she's using this as a press op. The hypocrisy is loud. I continue to support President Obama, be it here (when not deleted by someone who decides what can and can't be said) and in my everyday real world. I miss the ladies that came on here to discuss our world issues. Although I do type to them off this board. I still miss the posts here. The thing that actually bought us all together in the first place was cancer. We met, we became friends. Those of us that were on the board initially, didn't always agree either. No one is going to agree with another human 100% of the time. It's not going to happen. However, you do learn to be a good human and learn how to work around that. Or at least you should learn that by now. So I find it odd that women bought together on a cancer board, supposedly for support, are torn apart by the same group. More nonsensical stuff. President Obama could not have come at a more needed time. These are just my thoughts...read them, or don't.

Hiyas all!
About socialism ~ this is a pet peeve of mine that people have come to see it as a dirty word. My grandmother was a Socialist and I'm very proud of that! I think our country started out as capitalist and by the turn of the century 1900 it was obvious this was not working, the coal miners could not get out of there by hard work, their kids were stuck there too, and the seamstresses were getting burnt up in their 14-hour-a-day jobs. So FDR added a little socialism, and so what we have had and what we should have is a BALANCE of capitalism and socialism, the right balance. Some of the Europeans have a good balance, some have gone too far, and obviously the USSR went WAY too far to the left. On the other hand, IMHO Reagan was trying to go way too far to the right, back to the Robber Baron age when no one could get ahead at all, unless you were a railway or banking mogul.
I just read a great book by Malcolm Gladwell entitled "Outliers." Good read and interesting ideas.
Just my humble opinion, your mileage may vary.
-
P.S.: My Socialist grandmother married my grandfather who was the only Republican in his West Virginia family, she eventually became Republican altho she never liked Reagan. She says her ideas didn't change, the world did. So we are a family half Republican and half Democrat, and the arguements at holiday tables are magnificent!
-
unique...I agree with your ideas on socialism. I was born in the EU and have been back many times. You are right that there are things that work with that concept. A mix of things is always a good way to go. I don't understand the fear behind that word either. Thanks for the suggestion of the book. And I like your saying "your mileage may vary." :-)
On another note....bye, bye Blago!!! Wow...he could take up an entire thread trying to figure that guy out. I'm glad he's gone!
