Friendly reminder: If you haven't already done so, get your flu & Covid booster shots both scheduled. I got my flu shot Monday & am scheduled for Moderna #3 next week. Yea!
-
I am not 65, can I get a booster next month when it will be 6mos since my second Pfizer?
-
Before I forget - Happy Hallowe'en
Got my 3rd Pfizer last week. Flu - On my Pharmacy's call list for the next shipment.
-
I think you can, cancer pt are considered high risk. Got mine 2 weeks ago at Publix, fluMonday at dr.
-
HomeMom, I think that you do qualify for the booster. There are a whole list medical conditions (cancer being one of them) and jobs (front-line workers, teachers etc.) that are considered high risk and therefore eligible for the booster.
-
I was able to get a booster shot as soon as they said immunocompromised could get them awhile back. Dh just went today and got one. We do not even know what the criteria is now. Dh has no underlying conditions but is over age 60, I thought anyone could get the booster now. Dh wasn’t sure he needed one but I told him no one knows how long two doses last. We both had Covid in January but that’s already been 10 1/2 months ago (time flies!) and no one can say how long having Covid protects you from getting it again.
We both already got our flu shots, too; we’ve been getting them for years.
-
DH and I got our high valence flu shots a few weeks ago at our Medicare Wellness visit and our half dose Moderna booster today. Will continue to mask until our active case numbers drop more. Also will not go to large gatherings of unmasked folks, such as an indoor church service. Looking forward to being able to go out with a naked face sometime in the future!
-
I got the full dose of Moderna last month. CDC says that if you are immunocompromised the 3 rd shot is considered part of your primary series and you will need a booster in 6 months. That might mean 1/2 dose for Moderna. Not sure. DH is getting Moderna booster tomorrow and it will be 1/2 dose.
I had no problems with any of them- hope it still means they will work for me. Still wear a mask inside.

DH and I were watching YouTube, and somehow the rabbit hole led us to this. Wow.
Dee Snider, "We're Not Gonna Take It" - 2016
(I'm not crying. You're crying.)
-
I prefer the other "We're Not Gonna Take It," the penultimate number from the Who's Tommy. Guess it's a generational thing (i'm OK being a Boomer).
-
Divine - am I STILL immune compromised? It's been 7 years since I've had chemo! I have a PCP appointment on the 23rd of this month, can my Dr give it to me? I still have to get my flu shot, but he can give that to me, or I can pop into Publix like last year. My last two PCP appointments he gave me the shingle shots. I just keep asking to be jabbed!
-
Ruthbru - hopefully they weren't rooting for the Braves
-
Interestingly, Trump said that he was invited to the game by Major League Baseball. MLB quickly responded that was not true, he invited himself. I'm sure the Braves organization was not happy with his presence if only because he participated in the 'Tomahawk Chop', considered by many to be demeaning to Native Americans. So....he took a game and made it controversial and all about him.
HomeMom, 89% of those who had the first shots are eligible for the booster. The government WANTS people to get them, and you certainly are eligible. DH & I got ours yesterday at a local pharmacy. Around here anyway, there is no problem getting a booster. Pharmacies, Public Health, and clinics are all offering them.

magiclight, I had a similar traumatic moment with my youngest DGD when she was five and informed me that someday she might get married but didn't know whether she would marry a girl or a boy because it was okay to do either. If the children find it this so easy to accept, why don't the adults?
-
And in the same vein… When my younger dd was about 5 she heard a discussion of gay marriage on TV and asked me about it. Afterwards she thought for a minute and said, “ Well, if you are against gay marriage then don’t have one!” It was as simple as that for her and we all heartily agreed
-
It is very simple if one does not carry lots of baggage from when it was a crime that carried a prison sentence or a chemical castration or a psychiatric disorder or being damned to hell. A friend once told me it is OK to have baggage but it must fit in the overhead compartment and not interfere with others.
-
Love all those insights on being gay and gay marriage!
-
Love that, magiclight!
-
MagicLight - I love what your friend said, and here's the key for me "NOT INTERFERE WITH OTHERS".
When my son was 8-10 (40 years ago) the elementary kids used to say "oh he's so gay" - like 'oh he's crazy/stupid/whatever but in no way related to sex. As we headed out to meet my brother in HI, for Christmas, I suggested maybe he didn't want to use the word that way since his uncle was.
-
I am absolutely furious with the elected democratic officials who have formed a circular firing squad and are going to bring the republicans back in power if they don't get it together NOW!
