Thanks Molly50! It's amazing how quickly life can change as we all know too well! One day you're living a normal life, making plans and then it gets turned upside down in an instant. But there will be time to travel once this taken care of. Best of luck azrescue and Pinkjellyrollz1963. We are thinking about you. As for the rest of us, our time is coming soon too. Hugs to you all!

I hope everyone is recovering well without any complications! You are in my thoughts and prayers!

azrescue, praying your procedure goes well and you have a speedy recovery. I'll be in your pocket tomorrow!

Bdmommy, I pray your healing is speedy and you have a smooth recovery! My surgical bra was also way to tight. I had some velcro strips that I added to the center of my bra and it worked great. When I went in to see my BS and PS they both called me MacGyver and said whatever works! I wasn't going to buy any others and all the sports bras (size 40) I have are tighter than the (size 38) surgical bra. Go figure?? They asked if they could share my idea and of course I said yes :-)

Twintwin2, so sorry you had to cancel your Alaska cruise. Like Bigbluefish said it will be much more enjoyable when you are on the other side of your surgery.

Does anyone use cocobutter or antibiotic cream? My PS told me to stay away from anything like that. Is it just that my surgery is so recent. I know, I should have asked him while I was there :-/

My insurance has approved my appointment with my oncologist tomorrow. I don't ever remember them moving this fast on anything! I'm glad they surprised me and didn't make me wait 3 months like I had to wait for my surgery. Sheesh I'll let everyone know who it goes. Im a tad bit nervous but we gotta do what we gotta do!

I was worried about having my drains pulled so soon but I'v had little problems so far that I can see or feel anyway. I woke up from my nap this afternoon on my back from sleeping on my reclining loveseat. Ooooh so not good! Everything went black when I rolled over, not sure what happened as I haven't had any problems sleeping in my recliner? It must just be built differently.

    Hugs and Love to Everyone

Well, blast, I'm back on the surgery roster, BUT I'm pleased that all three nodes came back negative. The surgeon said she removed a 4 x 5 cm sample for my 2 cm tumor, but DCIS was discovered so I'll need another surgery next week to remove still more tissue. I know I've seen others with the IDC / DCIS diagnosis, but haven't had a chance to research the topic yet.

I'm glad having the dragons removed hasn't been a problem, Lori, but sorry to hear that the love seat recliner "attacked" you.

Thanks WenchLori! I guess we all have to make sacrafices when we get this blasted diagnosis. Sorry about your incident with the loveseat! Hope you are doing well.

I know it was a typo, but referring to drains as dragons is brilliant! The one drain I had burned terribly when she pulled it--and they are just such a nuisance!

Thinking of everyone going in this week. Take care

    Hi

I had a lumpectomy on 7/13. Sentinel node and another were found to be cancerous and so all nodes were removed on the left. I have a drain in and am seeing surgeon this Friday. I will get copies of the pathology report(s) then. I hope the drain is removed then as well.

Before surgery, there was talk of 6 wks radiation but no chemo. I don't know if the node involvement will alter that or not. Any ideas?

I also have been"producing" what I think are the brightest, greenest stool ever seen by humans. Has anyone ever experienced this?

Thanks and best wishes to all.

    Hi JFD, re: chemo --

If you have multiple nodes that are cancerous, chances are that your team will recommend chemo to you. If you only have 1 - 3 cancerous nodes, you might request an Oncotype test which will seek to gauge how useful chemo is for your case. I don't know your age, the size of your lump, or the grade of your cancer, but that's important, too.

I love and collect dragons lol

My left drain burned like the dikins too! I didn't even know he removed the right side.

I think the love seat recliner is totally off limits from now on. A few hours after I posted I wasn't having any problems my left drain site erupted. I soaked 2 dressings and then 2 washcloths. I called my PS this morning and I was told as long as there's no sign of infection or "real blood" we were good. He wanted to see me at 1 today but l told him Ialready have a date with another guy at 1... My oncologist

Sending healing thoughts and prayers to everyone!

No green poops at my house! I have heard of the sentinel node biopsy dye turning urine blue though.

Hope all are doing well tonight. Getting around much better but tired of the pain and tightness; still needing the oxy. Anyone able to sleep without sitting up?

Novmoon, I'm still using the icy and sleeping sitting up at 2 weeks postop. I just told my hubby I'd do just about anything to sleep normally in a real bed!

Molly, I'll be in your pocket! Not much longer!

I have to get my port put in in the next week or so, I'll have another surgery date. Should be loads of fun and hopefully not as much pain involved. Pleeeease...

Much love and hugs to All

Thinking of Molly50 and twintwin2 and others who are having surgeries in next couple of days, and sending you healing thoughts.

I'm impressed that most of my bruising has gone - I'm taking Arnica 200c (got the ok from my BS) and I think that really helped.

Hello everyone! Hope each of you are recovering well, sending healing hugs to all!!

Went for my follow up appointment with the BS yesterday and then the PS today. Well there was good news and not so good news. My BS said before my surgery last Thursday that she would have the pathology results at my follow up yesterday, well they only had some of them. They removed a 5cm tumor and did not get clear margins. They were doing additional testing on the three nodes that she removed. I was absolutely devastated and broke down in her office. When I was diagnosed on December 15 the tumor was only 2cm, but it was determined to be triple negative and close to the chest wall. So the decision was made to do chemo before surgery to try and shrink it away from the chest wall. After my first four AC (red devil) chemo treatments the MO did a physical check and said the tumor felt like no more that 1CM, so I thought everything was going great as planned. Then I completed 12 rounds of Taxol, after completing the chemo regime on July 2 they did a new mammogram and MRI...now the tumor was about 4CM! I cannot wrap my head around the fact that I endured the most grueling and horrible 5 months of chemo and the result was a tumor that more than doubled in size of 5CM when removed and now we couldn't get clear margins in the right breast. I made the decision to have a BMX due to my younger age and having triple negative breast disease. We removed both breasts and still it's a little there. The unclear margin in .7MM in size. I just don't understand!!! Basically due to this, I now will need radiation to hopefully clear the remaining margin. The plastic surgeon is concerned now for the TE and how/when to fill the best way through radiation. I am so frustrated! The good news is while I was checking out yesterday, the BS got a text from the lab and all three nodes were clear. I have an appointment Friday to get the complete pathology results. Also good that today the PS removed two of the drains. I am just so very discouraged and depressed today. I really needed one step to go according to plan, since every single thing since my diagnosis I have fallen in the 10% of cases category. UGH!

JPD1711...the dye that they used to "find" my lymph nodes caused my pee to be Christmas green after my surgery and they said it was normal!

I am still sleeping on the wedge that I bought before the surgery. I am in a semi reclining position, but still in my own bed! I put pillows on each side to elevate my arms and keep me from rolling over. No way could I sleep flat yet, but the wedge is actually pretty comfortable.

WenchLori...When I had the port put in for my chemo it was a very easy outpatient surgery and had little to no pain from it. It was just hard to get used to having it right under the skin where you could see the lump and knowing a foreign object was in there. Guess that was good practice since now I have two foreign objects called TE in my chest! I actually had my first chemo infusion using the port the next day after it was installed!

Bdmommy, I am so very sorry that you've had one problem stacked upon another. The lymph node status is a bright spot, but, gosh, I can only imagine how devastating it is to endure chemo and have both breasts removed without the result you would expect from the aggressive treatment program. I hope that the radiation goes smoothly and that all goes well with your reconstruction. HUGS!

isnogard, did they take lymph nodes from the right side? If so, call your BS and mention the swelling. Otherwise it may just be inflammation from the surgery.

I slept in a recliner for three weeks after my lumpectomy, so I am sure it would take a little longer for you MX ladies.
