good luck big bigbluefish. I will be thinking about you and sending positive vibes your way.
-
Thinking of all of you having procedures in the next few days as well as those who have already completed. Couldn't ask for better support than this group of gals. Prayers for strength in the future.

Hi all quick question (I've tried searching forums and maybe I'm not using the right keywords!). It's 11 days since my lumpectomy and SNB, and my underarm area is so sensitive and almost stinging. Thought it was chafing to start with but it's not - although a non-talc organic baby powder does seem to help soothe it a little. I had to see my dermatologist the other day (as a follow up to the squamous cell skin cancer I just got removed before my BC diagnosis - quite the couple of months!!!) and she thought it might be a fungal thing and gave me some ointment but doesn't seem to help. I see my BS nurse on Wednesday for post-op and to get steri strips removed but was wondering if in the meantime anyone might have some suggestions for how to soothe,
Hoping all recovering well and thinking of folks who are scheduled over the next few days.
-
Bigbluefish, Mom4four, gammaw55 in your pocket for tomorrow. TampaWhit, in your pocket for Wednesday. Musogirl, glad you checked in. I hope our recent surgeries are doing well. I have to see my BS in the morning due to the tape covering the mepilex breaking down my skin in one spot. Otherwise still doing well. I washed my hair tonight, just feels so good to have clean hair!
-
double mastectomy scheduled for July 28th! Just a few days away. Nervous and excited to get this cut out of me. Then we figure out chemo treatment course. Keep praying it truly is stage 1 and not in the lymph nodes
-
Musogirl..we are in your pocket! I hope you have a deep pocket because there are lots of us
-
josieg, I am having a similar thing although it settled down from a knifing, electric like sensation (which was excruciating) to the same symptoms that you are having. I have difficulty touching anything with the back of my arm. Nurse said it was neuropathy.
BS in my post-op yesterday said to keep taking anti inflammatories ( I had stopped) and do my exercises more ( I'm not using my arm enough). That wasn't too helpful although I am doing that as well. Taking Naproxen helps relax me (sold over the counter), icing it helps, heat doesn't. I'm going to try acupuncture next. I posted on here and someone mentioned they were prescribed Lyrica. Let me know what your nurse says !

Good morning, how is everyone doing?
Molly, I'm glad to hear your healing process is going well. You are in my thoughts and prayers for a speedy recovery.
Twintwin2, sleeping in my own bed was wonderful! I slept like a baby! Last night was a little harder for me to fall asleep. I think it was due to a 2 hour shopping trip to Walmart with my hubby last night. He wants to make sure my chemo supplies are here and ready before I start my chemo. He's always thinking ahead. He chuckled every time I sat down on a display that was strong enough to hold my bubble butt. lol
Musogirl, successful procedure prayers coming your way! We are all in your pocket!
Mom4four, Grammaw and bigbluefish, good luck tomorrow! Sending calming, healing thoughts and prayers your way. I'll be in your pockets! 🙏❤️🙏❤️
I had two more appointments added on to my already overwhelming calendar yesterday. Gosh, does it slow down eventually? I'm having my PET scan this afternoon. I'm not sure I can drink 24 oz of water before I go. Water and I have a love/hate relationship. It loves to upset my stomach so I hate drinking it! What's a gal to do?
I think it's time to find my way out of my comfy bed and do something. Although I'm not sure why? I'll just sit in my comfy recliner until it's bedtime :-)
-
I hear you Lori about going from bed to recliner. However, going to hairdresser today after 2 months for root job and about a 10-inch cut. Hope I can tolerate the chair for a couple hours. Still so sore from fill on Friday esp the underarm thing. Not sure if I want more on Thursday. Hope the PET scan goes okay for you today.
Hoping for good results and recovery.
-
scared 7755, I go tomorrow! You've expressed my exact same thoughts!! I wish you the best ifluck!!
-
Novmoon, thank you. I'm nervous about the PET but keeping my fingers crossed also. I'm with you, I'm not sure I want another fill on Thursday either. My PS said we can try, if I can't tolerate it then he'll stop. My daughter wanted to take me to get my hair done while they were visiting, I'm glad I wasn't up to it asit would have been waisted money. :-/
Scared, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I know how nerve wrecking it is waiting for the final path report and be told it's not what you were originally told. You have time on your side, going from diagnosis to surgery within 6 or 7 weeks is in your favor. We are all here for you and we will be in your pocket on Thursday!
-
Yeah, thinking the hair thing may be a waste but at this time the length is difficult for me to manage and will mean less to lose down the road.
Prayers for those in surgery today.
-
Musogirl in your pocket. Lori, water is a must before your PET. I hope you can figure out a way to get it down. Welcome scared7755.
-
Molly, I just closed my eyes and chugged! I've had a few more cups after I got home to flush the chemicals out of my system. Who knows, maybe I'll keep drinking water? I'm told I'll need to drink 6 to 8 cups a day with chemo. If I get nothing else out of this BC maybe I'll drink more daily, It could happen!
-
My surgery went well. No complications so he was able to finish the procedure with the robot. My four incisions haven't bothered me yet, but WOW! The pain down low is awful! And they took away my IV and the good, quick meds, so now I take Percocet alternating with Tylenol every three hours. Hopefully it will only be bad a day or so? This has to be the most pain I have experienced after a surgery.
Gonna try to get a little more sleep before the next round nurses come through
-
musosgirl, glad your surgery went well! Get some rest and stay ahead of the pain. Sending healing thoughts to you!
-
there are a lot of brave ladies facing surgery today and tomorrow. I'm thinking of all of you and wishing you a smooth procedure and a speedy recovery.
-
TampaWhit, Good luck on your surgery tomorrow Sending out prayers for a safe and speedy recovery. We'll be in your pocket!
Musogirl, I'm so happy your procedure went well. My healing thoughts and prayers go out to you! What? They took the good stuff away? That was not nice. How soon after your procedure did they remove your IV? Are you at home resting now?
All of the appointments that go along with diagnosis, surgery, PET scans, port placement, echocardiogram, chemo, rads and all the classes I'm signed up for at the local Alcot Center is mind boggling! I canceled a few and had those spots fill right back up. My oncologist wants to see me right after my port placement on Friday morning. I know it's not to start chemo as I haven't had all of my pretesting done. I'm praying we go from crazy nonstop appointments to only chemo and rads appointments! I can't seem to catch a break! Sheeeesh
I'm praying all ladies that had recent surgeries are doing well and resting.
I'm 3 weeks out and I'm still a bit sore and I'm sure after another fill tomorrow will just make my day! lol
Until next time... Tata
-
Lori, about 3 weeks for me with another fill tomorrow also. Hoping this one will go better. Was just starting to feel better. Love the kitty.
-
Novmoon, I'm hoping it goes better for you as well. It took a few hours for it to bother me but I know exactly where my pockets are now! I'm going in expecting it to be bad like I did the first time. Maybe I'll get the same results this time. I'll be praying and keeping my fingers crossed for both of us 🙏👍
-
Best of luck to you. I went in the first time not expecting much and dreading this time. The muscle relaxer did not seem to help. Going to try another 50 cc. If it is difficult to tolerate may stop at 400 total. I admit today is the best day I have felt but still on oxycodone 4 times a day.
-
Novmoon, I haven't had any oxy in a few days. The pain just doesn't seem bad enough to keep taking it. I might ask for a little more oxy just in case all hell breaks loose tomorrow.
-
Fills can be tough for some. I actually felt better after fills with my first expander. I was in agony until my fills. I am afraid it will be the opposite this time because I am not in agony now. I hope you all feel better.
-
I was so hoping I would get to home today but my GYN does not think I am passing enough gas. He said my belly is too firm--so I am here for another night. The pain was really bad last night--felt like I was labor. Now I just feel like I am PMSing. Of course both are impossible since we just removed those parts!
I am walking, eating, and drinking--any more advice on getting rid of gas-bloated belly
-
Musogirl, what type of hysterectomy did you have? It's surprisingly painful early in recovery. My DH was so frightened by the amount of pain I was in. Have you posted on Hystersisters? You will find excellent information over there. I hope you get to go home tomorrow for sure.
-
Molly, I had the Da Vinci robotic laparoscopic assisted hysterectomy. I have tried posting in HysterSisters but I guess I accidentally put my left side reduction date in place of my HX date. And I can't figure out how to fix it! So I can post in the pre-op forum but it won't let me in the post-op forum.
Had a few hot flashes tonight, but I think they were anxiety induced. I hope so anyway. For some reason I was put on the pediatric floor and doubt the nurses want me curled up in the fetal position crying my eyes out like their infant charges--but that's highly likely if my PTSD were to kick in. 🙄
The pain comes and goes now, and I am spotting still--my mom is surprised at that. I expected I would for a few days. Just really bummed I didn't get to home. I have tried laying in all sorts of positions and will walk throughout the night as nurses wake me up. Hopefully by morning my tummy will be soft enough. Tired and stressed.
How are you doing? 5 days out for you?
-
Apologies! It's taking a bit to go through your chats, Ladies. I am 3 weeks past surgery and feeling great. I had an appointment with the OT today because I have cording from the lymph node dissection. Results of pathology came back pCR!!! Praise God! I hope you all are healing well.
-
Asher, wonderful news! Congratulations on pcr! Musogirl, I am recovering well. Very little pain surprisingly. I sent you a PM.
-
hello everybody. Hope you are all feeling well. I got good news on my pathology report with my IDC being less than 5mm with all clean nodes but unfortunately the margin needs to be touched up. So it's back for a quick surgery next week sometime which kind of bums me out. But I like to think that the good news outweighs the bad here. I hope you are all healing well and best wishes to tampawhitband scared7755 today.
-
congratulations Asher!!! That is wonderful news. Im so happy for you. I hope you continue to heal well. 😊
