Hello everyone! I just read through all the comments and am glad surgeries seem to have gone well, although I am sad that many of you are suffering.

I am two weeks out from my lumpectomy and healing well. Margins and lymph nodes were clear, but grade 3 means still on track for starting chemo in August.

Baby girl is doing great. We had a ultrasound yesterday and she looks perfect.

Thanks for all warm wishes. Back at all of you! This is such an amazing, strong group of women!

    Annie

Hi everyone, I hope that all of you are healing well. My prayers to all having surgery soon.

Molly, good luck on your procedure tomorrow! I'll be in your pocket and wishing you a smooth recovery!

Bdmommy, I'm so sorry to hear about your bad news! How could they have missed that your tumor had grown and not shrunk?! It's insane!

After being told for the past 4 months that I wouldn't need chemo or radiation SURPRISE!!! I've been doing pretty well the past 2 weeks but to be told "I'm sorry your BS was wrong!" puts a damper on things! Who do you trust through all of this? I tell you what, I trust Sassy, Sandy, and many others on BCO. I trust Maria (my adopted RN daughter) and my oncologist! These people have said all along that chemo and rads was indicated, so the blow was diffused a bit. I've been very upset with my BS about all of this but my hubby asked me one question last night "Is your BS an oncologist"? Nope, she's not. All my anger and resentment went out the window. Which is good as I requested her to place my port. We'll have a little talk, I'll give her a hug and we'll get on with the next phase.

Anyhow, I had a visit with my PS today and when I told him the wonderful news of chemo and rads he just shook his head. I asked what happens now as I already have my TEs? He said we'll keep filling and stretching and when radiation starts we'll remove some of the saline. He said he is here for me and we'll get through this together. I think I've mentioned it before but I LOVE MY PS! He said I had a rough year ahead of me but "we can do this"! I also had my first fill today. I was very anxious as I've read so many different experiences with the fills but it was a piece of cake for me. Hey something good!! I have small but perky foobs! It's strange to look down and see them on my chest and not at my waistline!

I'll keep laughing because if I stop laughing I'll start crying! LOL

Hugs and much love to all

Welcome to anyone I missed. Let me know if I need to add you to the calendar. I will be going in at 5:30 am tomorrow for a 7:30 surgery! It has been crazy at work and trying to get packed at home and give the house a once over tonight. Novmoon, good luck with your first fill. Low and slow is what the ladies in the TE thread suggest. Beebs, glad you are doing well. josie, arnica is a great suggestion! Bdmommy, sorry you have so much to deal with. Isnogard, I hope you have called your surgeon by now. Swelling can be just about anything. Twintwin, thinking of you today! In your pocket!!

Hugs everyone. I will check in when I can.

Lori, just reading your news. Did your oncotype come back high? High grade? What happened? I had rads with a TE in. No need to remove saline unless your RO requests it. They should be fine. You need to finish fills prior to rads and chemo, at least my PS will not do fills during chemo due to risk of infection. Bdmommy, huge hugs. I am so sorry. AnnieTater, thanks for checking in. Glad you are doing well post LX.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow morning, Molly50. You will do great.

I had negative nodes and clear margins but grade 3. Does that usually indicate chemo post BMX?

Molly, I don't have an Oncotype score. I know right!?!? My oncologist is having some of my tests redone and things added. I was just told at this time the reason for the chemo and rads is one of my nodes spread into the breast tissue. I'm hoping I have more info once all the tests to be completed. I'm sooooo confused right now. Yikes!!

Wow that must have been a surprise WenchLori - thinking of you as you process this.

VLH we had the surgery the same day, and I just got my results today. My BS said I too had several "DCIS areas" as well as the 1 IDC she was going in for, but they are not going in to try and get any more out. Also turned out I had 2 IDCs - one 1.8 cm and another smaller one of a couple of mm. Good news is that lymph nodes were clear, and margins for IDC clear (she said it's too hard to tell about margins for DCIS). So next step is MO - I also saw my Obgyn who advised me to go to an additional MO as the one I have an appt for next week is a '1 man band' (so no colleagues to confer with) and not affiliated with a teaching hospital. Trying to see an MO at Stanford but currently next appt is August 17th, which seems crazy as that is over a month after my LX and will probably take another couple of weeks after that until I start radiation (which seems a little late). They are trying to get an earlier appt for me, and in the meantime I'll check out the other MO and see how I feel.

Thinking of twintwin2 and the others who had surgery today, as well as Molly50 for tomorrow.

Molly50 I hope your surgery went well. I told my BS who said the swelling is unusual this early in the process. My PS will meet with me this coming Monday hopefully nothing is wrong with TE placement possibly causing swelling in my right arm. ER surgeon said no blood clots seen on the ultrasound. Will consult with PS on Monday hopefully get these drains out. Everyone says I have early stage lymphedema. Great. Hope everyone is doing great after surgery and those that are going in no worries it goes fast.

Hoping everyone is doing well tonight. Saw my PS today to remove 2nd drain which went well. Glad to be free of those. Had my 1st fill of 50 cc (now have 350) and was a little rougher than expected but doing okay tonight. Now with no drains can get rid of the pocket camisole (Velcro itching and caused a blister). Wondering if I should be wearing another type of undergarment through the fill stage. Feels weird to wear nothing. Take care.

Great news Molly! Still sending healing thoughts and prayers!

Novmoon~ my PS told me I could wear and support sports bra I'd like. I wear the ones with the thin straps, the underarm area doesn't cut into my "arm pits"

I officially have the cast iron bra feeling that everyone talks about. My PS added 60 ccs this past Thursday, we'll see how much I can tolerate this Thursday. I'm still taking 1 oxy every now and then. I wish I could get past the middle of the night pain, at least I feel pretty good during the day. By the time I stop taking oxy my port placement procedure will be here then I'll go back to it? But I hope not!

Healing thoughts and prayers to All!

Thanks for the tip, WenchLori. Definitely sore under the arms with some swelling. Have had to increase the oxi since my fill. Was only using 1 to 2 a day and now up to 3 to 4. Are you using any Tylenol or ibuprofen in between? My worst pain is the iron bra feeling. Good luck with your next fill.

Sorry I haven't posted after my Rt MX & SNB on 7/7. I'm doing well. Still have 1 drain, still putting out around 50 ccs daily. And still sleeping on a wedge (sooo glad I followed that advice!)

My aunt surprised me by coming from CA to help me out for 10 days. What a blessing! She took care of me, the kids, the house, the laundry, everything! And left a freezer full of food so I don't have to cook for weeks! I can't thank her enough!

Molly great to hear you're doing well and everyone else stay positive!!

WenchLori- I had my TE thru chemo and rads. It can kind of get in the way during radiation so my PS did not fill me all the way. She wanted to keep filling my one side buy I didn't want to be lopsided. So about 2-3 mo after my last radiation PS started filling me again. I was never real uncomfortable but I took pain meds or Valium (my BS gave me that wonderful drug!) But the meds helped the discomfort day of filling. The only time it bothered me was my last full when it seemed like she filled it more than usual. Now my implants are in and my incisions are just about good to go! I'm 2 1/2 weeks post op. I'm actually sleeping in my bed-- pillows still all around me! Started back on tomaxifin too. Getting more frequent hot flashes. So nice since its 95 degrees and humid!!

    Healing thoughts and prayers everyone!!

33 hours till go time. I am freaking out! And having scheduled two surgeries within 8 days of each other now has me questioning my sanity. Trying to breathe deep and remember all our reasons for choosing this plan--but I am so worried about menopause symptoms and then having a breast reduction a week later with who knows what going on in my body. It's the fear of the unknown. I think my anxiety is causing as many warm flushes as the Lupron. Need to sleep. Need fall to hurry up and get here!

Sorry for the melt-down. Feeling very sad today

Musogirl, you will be in my thoughts and prayers as your surgery date approaches. Take it one day at a time and breath. When I get tired of being tired/hurting I just tell myself "This to shall pass" it works for me :-)

I have my first meeting with my radiologist scheduled for 8/8. Way to many appointments already!

After almost 3 weeks I did get to sleep in my own bed last night. As long as I remembered that I have an incision running from one side of my chest to the other (almost) when I'd turn, I was good. I only used a pillow at my back to keep me from rolling onto my back. I found it kinda odd that it was perfectly painless laying on my side. I'm a side sleeper so that works for me. Some ladies don't like how the TEs meet in the middle but I'm used to it as I had reconstruction 30 years ago.

    Until next time... Tata

musogirl, we are all with you throughout this. The stress and anxiety seems sometimes unbearable I know. But sometimes it's the waiting and the anticipation that makes it even worse. I hope you got some sleep and that you are feeling better today. You can do this, you have lots of support. Stay strong. Hugs to you.
