Going to be a day of worry for me. My older and favorite brother is having knee replacement surgery today. Had his left one done last year and he had a long recovery from it. Hope this time it goes smoother and a normal recovery for him.

I did see Dr susan love years ago at a fund raising event, shewas asked why many women were starting to opt for mastectomies for dcis

Her answer was that they could not tell which dcis would later cause trouble or just stay quiet

Mommy, good healing thoughts going out to your brother. Been through TKR twice. Not an easy rehab, but once recovery is complete, it is amazing!

Well I heard from my brother a bit earlier. He was groggy and was in a little pain but so far it looks like everything is fine. Told him to take it easy and that hubby and sent our love.

Urge your brother to remember to stay ahead of the pain, whatever it takes for now. It takes a lot lower dose of opioids to keep the pain level at 3 or 4 than it does to bring it down from a 6 or 7. If he has internet access at the hospital (and at the rehab facility if he will go to one, or else at home), there is a wonderful online community called Bonesmart.org. When I was contemplating, undergoing and recovering from my TKRs (and facing a possible THR which turned out not to be necessary), it was as much of a lifeline to me as BCO has been since my bc dx. In fact, I first met one of our BCO sisters, Brithael, on Bonesmart, and we've met in real life (she came to a festival concert of mine).

Iris, I agree, you big new red car needs to see the ocean. I find the waves are very relaxing, which you could use an abundance of. No bourbon on the rocks or whiskey sours when you'll be driving tho.

Sandy, thanks for the advice. Just hoping that this recovery goes smoother than the one last year. At least he has my favorite SIL to help him at home.

Just glad that his surgery is done. Worried me a lot yesterday. We have always had a close bond since I am the baby of the older group of us siblings.

Dropped Octo off at her hotel today , where she's meeting up with her diving buddies before heading off to P.N.G......We have so enjoyed having her ..what a beautiful lady ..inside and out ...Hubby keeps telling me how young she looks 😃..I'm leaving it in Octo's capable hands of sharing our photos .😃

OMG, the hospitality that Lucy and her husband showed me was amazing!!! I feel like I saw so much of the area near Brisbane, and it was all so beautiful. Lucy and her hubby are so fun and so lovely. Yes, pics to follow tomorrow; tired tonight so heading off to bed. Hugs to all!

Trying not to use too much data. Wifi is sketchy at campgrounds. Out of our house and in our RV. Once we get settled, and rested things will feel better. Achy, sore and tired. Hubby and I did all the packing and moving ourselves. We had a bit of assistance with the safe, but the washer and dryer from the second floor was all 17 steps of us. Cancer House and harassing neighbors are now in the rear view

Dear all;

After a wonderful few days in Oz, I head off to Papua New Guinea tomorrow...will be back in Australia middle of the month, and look forward to more time with Lucy then! I really had a blast! She is such a kind person, but you all know that...

Anyway, I know you all want pics! More pics to follow at some point, but I have re-packing to do and an early flight...and anyway, Lucy and I decided we are both too camera shy to put many pics on the site...but here is one of the two of us contemplating the 'Twins': two of the Glass House Mountains...the Glass House Mountains were so named by Capt. Cook on his voyage up the Australian Coast in 1770, because they reminded him of glass house furnaces in his home town...Lucy's hubby wasn't sure that was the best name, but I leave that up to your imagination....

And as a bonus, here is a pic of the Australian coastline, one of a Koala, and of course the pic you have all been waiting for: the bears (Gabe and Little Joe) relaxing on Lucy's front porch...

Utterly exhausted but must log out and get some work done. The mourning doves who've nested in the planter of chives on our fire escape have two hatchlings. It's very entertaining to watch them, but now we're all on tenterhooks because the neighbor's cat knows they're there. Woke up thinking about ways to protect the babes; they should be ready to leave the nest in just a couple of weeks. Argh. Nature.
