Exercise and well being during chemo and radiation

T, it's not hard. Trick is to get the oil just hot enough so it doesn't absorb and get all spongey. But no, it's never as good!
-
enough already, you bad thing! Now I'm gonna have to paint myself blue, try to make some little braids in my hair (yeah right), scream and scare the shit out of my neighbors, and eat a bunch of yummy junk food.
Maybe I can become known as the crazy woman in my neighborhood. It's a lofty goal!
-
lol you started it!
Momentous day- my hair is finally longer than a woman who cuts her hair deliberately in my office. But way, way bushier. Like a dang porcupine.
-
I'm mixing threads and metaphors shamelessly. No good deed goes unpunished!
-
mix up some frybread with that, katy!
-
sheeet littleblue, coconut oil that porcupine. Right now I have the same haircut as my son, hilarious!
Ooh, coconut oil popcorn! With butter! And salt!
-
just so happens I have proof I made fry bread last week. Not Navajo, but fry bread all the same:
-
Oh wow, katy. I blame my cravings on your super strong frybread mojo now!
T- trust me, my porcupine is well oiled lol.
-
yes. It is strong medicine.
-
So is frybread!
-
What a cute picture Katy!
-
Is frybread at all like fried dough (sold at fairs, carnivals, etc.)? Sorry, New Englander here...
-
It sounds like it might be! But, I'm unfamiliar with carnival fried dough...
-
what I was making was poori bread, which is Indian cuisine (ironically, just Eastern not Western/Navajo). I think there is a bread like this, unleavened, in most cultures. Naan, pita, tortilla, fry bread, etc etc. all of them are undoubtedly comfort food and strong medicine. I must be missing some here. Anybody add to the list
-
Send me fry bread. Please.
Can I wrap it around bacon?
Hugs, Octogirl
p.s. Yesterday was my last chemo day!!! I deserve it!!!
-
Octo, PM me your address and I will send you frybread wrapped in bacon. Not even kidding. You deserve ALL the frybread and bacon for finishing chemo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You are a rockstar, lady!!!! Way to kick cancer's ass!!!!!!
-
Katy, we're coming to live with you.
I have a hair trim tomorrow--curliness=pretty bushy on the sides.
-
K-You are welcome to. Would love to meet the wife. And congrats on a trim! That's progress!
-
Sticking with daily exercise no matter how crappy I feel - it helps! I used to add a second workout many days per week during my lunch, but happy with just one these days... so that is less than before and giving me a little more rest time.
The fryfbread on the Navajo Rez is so delicious, but I eat maybe once per year. I could go for a piece right now with some honey on it - mmmm.....though my mouth is dry from the chemo and only spicy foods taste good.
xoxo
-
Frau Dok- I would love to "audit" the mindfulness class from the sidelines. I know I can benefit from this!
-
Can't you wrap anything in/around bacon? (never read food porn after being chased around the gym by a personal trainer)
-
the carnival fried dough might be what we called "elephant ears" back in Indiana. It's basically fried dough that is dipped in butter and brown sugar because apparently fried dough alone isn't unhealthy enough.
Also here's my current hair style:
-
Ooh, sloth wins for first Eraserhead reference!
My weight is up 3.5# for no reason at all. I am not getting sucked into making a narrative about this. I am on the treadmill, writing a course proposal for spring 2017.
-
Ksusan, remind me what do you teach?
-
Eraserhead lol! I can do this guy pretty good too. Kramer from Seinfeld.
-
I teach counselors at various levels from undergrads through professional continuing education.
-
You guys are so sexy lol! I'm more Sonic the hedgehog..
1 hr stairmaster, light resistance on the machines, 2 mile run.
-
Okey-dokey, course proposal submitted FWIW. I enjoy thinking about and planning courses even if I don't always get to teach them.
-
Ran 8 miles this morning. 4 with 2 coworkers and 3 dogs, then another 4 with one dog after a 15 min rest in-between. So slow pace but I'll take it @ 8 days after 2nd chemo and without neulasta. I am so curious what my blood counts look like if I can still run even slowly.
Now I get to drive 5 hours back to the city I get cancer tx (Santa Fe NM). My mom and sister are flying over 2000 miles tomorrow to visit me! Yay!
still craving some form of fried dough after all you posted talking about it...might have to find some this weekend
xo
-
Wow Andraxo, you ran 8 miles! I can barely make it up 3 flights of stairs at work. Good job!
