OK, I have a story to share. We read this weekend about a woman in Milwaukee who celebrated her 112th birthday. They said she survived breast cancer and skin cancer. AND SHE'S 112!
-
Yeah, Susan!!! THANKS for sharing. Although I don't think I want to live to 112. lol
Karen, have I told you lately how amazing you are?
-
Molly, I'm so sorry about your kitty. It's so hard to lose a pet. I cried for days when my cat died many years ago. Hugs to you!
-
-
Molly, so sorry about your cat
-
Molly ... It's always so hard to lose a pet. So sorry to hear about your cat. 😢
PB
-
Ksusan: I LOVE IT!
-
my friend bought me this card from that line of empathy cards few weeks ago. Love you ladies!
-
Molly, I'm so sorry about Banana. I can tell from your many posts and shares how much that very special kitty meant to you.
Karen, I didn't need popcorn either, and your follow- up post brought tears to my eyes. Your presence here has enhanced our group so much. I'm so glad you are here. And you ARE staying. For a long time. I know the April girls feel the same. You are, in fact, amazing.
Leigh- you will get your hair back. I know very soon you will be feeling those little fuzzy wuzzies.
Sue- thank you for sharing a positive story this morning. Hope you are feeling ok.
Lynn- (and Allison) you are so sweet to remember that today was SUPPOSED to be closing day. We got an extension till Friday. The bank is falling all over themselves, asking me to sign forms that I either DID sign weeks ago, or should have signed weeks ago. My agent, who is very good, and stays close to the proces, says we are ok and not to worry. My brother and SIL packed up 1/2 my house while they were here. I'm living in a weird limbo/suspended animation
-
Katy - think of the steps you will put on moving into your new home and unpacking all those boxes. I don't care what "they" say--that's a workout!
-
Haha Sue- Good point! But I'm still using "the card" to get out of as much work as possible
-
Went for a consult with MO #4 today. God, is there some requirement that you have to have NO personality at all to be a doctor? One is worse than the other. I guess I have to go with the dirty office lady because she was the only one that I could actually talk to and didn't act like a condescending a-hole.
-
Allison- I'm glad you went through the process. I'm sorry it didn't result in finding the perfect MO, (as they sometimes say, you can fix ugly but you can't fix stupid), but it is so important you found one you can talk to. An anonymous letter to the clinic about the lack of cleanliness you observed might easily fix or at least improve the problem. Or they might have just had a bad day or someone out sick who normally attends to those things. As I (sort of) said above, ugly/dirty can be fixed
-
trvler - keep in mind also that since you are unlikely to have many invasive procedures with your future MO - because chemo will be done - it is more important that you can talk to dirty office MO because that is what you will mostly be doing in the future.
-
Lol, K. I am kind of leaning towards her.
There IS one thing I like about the current center (which the MO I met with today belongs to). They are in communication with my heart doctor easily because they are in the same system. While I am hoping I don't see much of the heart doctor in the future, I am probably going to be monitored for a while at least.

To add to the sunscreen confusion, a friend of mine who has had melanoma posted this article on FB. http://news.health.com/2015/07/24/what-you-must-know-about-the-chemicals-in-your-sunscreen/ It addresses sunscreen ingredient concerns and gives this statement. "The bottom line from the Skin Cancer Foundation: “[C]onsumers should rest assured that sunscreen products including the ingredients oxybenzone and retinyl palmitate are safe and effective when used as directed.” The article discusses mouse epidermis and the quantities used in the studies and the fact that some of the animals were fed them orally. It is good to hear the other side (sunscreens are safe) - not that I know what to believe now. Like everything else. Have a good day!

Funny story or not so much. I went over to my neighbor's house so she could trim one of my wigs. She and her husband are HUGE conspiracy theory weirdos. Nice weirdo's but still, if they start talking about these theories they never shut up. I could type up pages about airplane contrails and aliens among us. Anyhow, my neighbor's daughter was diagnosed with BC last year (30s) and she refused chemo and only did radiation because chemo is what kills you. (I know, right) It was obvious that they thought my doing chemo was the death of me and they put that suggestion out there. More in a way that I wasn't informed. I'm pretty easy going and was trying to end the conversation as I didn't have hours upon hours to discuss their theory's vs the medical community.
Then they started on the below theory with me. If only I had taken apricot seeds I would never have gotten cancer. It's an interesting article, and I might look into adding seeds into my diet at some point, but as of now I haven't done enough research and an article on the internet doesn't mean it's true.
ps...they did offer me unlimited pot whenever I needed it. lol.

Above is a link to my "acting out" creativity therapy session for the day. A pretty good representation of me vs. the bank, and the elusive loan docs. Tutti plays the part of Katy, dutiful loan applicant, signing all forms on time, sometimes several times. The bird is the goal, end game, loan approval and happiness ever after.

Here is some info re laetrile/apricot seeds:
-
Canonical quackery.... Has a certain ring to it... Not a nice one. Pass the arsenic please
-
It's just so crazy to me that people really believe there is a magic solution out there that would cure cancer if only people would pay attention and/or not suppress the news. Take it from cancer patients, if there were a magic solution, we would know! We google too much for our own good!
-
OMG, Mary. Wow. It makes MY weird neighbors look almost normal.
-
Katy, sly but smart!
-
I'm so tired today some days I just feel exhausted. Shopped for a dryer today, it broke 3 weeks ago, went to 4 stores in and out of the car when it's almost 100 degrees was brutal.
Molly I'm so sorry about your kitty😞 , I've been there we have a little engraved box on our mantel.
Sue I'd love to live to 112, amazing! I want to meet someone who is a 100 what stories they must have.
Wpmoon love the card, what is the company again?
Allison I do like my MO but can't stand her office, so shabby. I received a survey form at my last appointment that I still need to complete. I've thought of switching but....
Mary your neighbor stories may make for a good screenplay😄 maybe being stoned has a connection to the conspiracy theories? Just a thought😉
Apricot seeds - really, I hate apricots.
-
I took you all on my walk today. Thanks for the push to get out there. Thinking I might grab my shoes and head out for another short one tonight now that it is a little cooler. I'm meeting with someone tomorrow for the cancer rehab program my hospital provides so I am hoping they can help sort me out. Anyone else dealing with chemo brain still? I went in to school today to prepare for a long term sub and I would forget what I was doing so often that I got virtually nothing accomplished.
-
Maryellen, here's the site - http://emilymcdowell.com/collections/all

Amy/ how about a close- up of the dump truck? (Haha spell check tried to write "funk" truck!)
-
Whitney - what part of Cali do you live in that you're so close to the beach? I love going but it's about a 2 1/2 hr drive for me
-
so - I can't say this on any social media but I can say it here - my sister and I went to a taping of Let's Make a Deal. I got picked at the very end for a speed deal and women $400. Yay 12/10 I'll be on tv!
-
Woot Eileen big money!!!!
Congratulations!
