Awesome news, Whitney! I've been thinking of you all day!
-
Whitney, great news!
Maureen, that's horrible. Can they give you anything to address the GI stuff or reduce your dose?
Allison, if I'd had a blood clot, I would be scared to death to take Tamoxifen. That's coming from the paramedic who sees the worst sides of blood clots.
Katy, I get my port out on Aug 31. I am going to come home, light a big fire in the fire pit and burn that f**ker.😁
-
I'm so glad your ok Sharon - so scary to think our cancer can cause us heart problems, WTF!
Ivebeen busy with my sons swim team, we lost every meet but my son made the top 15 swimmers in the league of 26 teams and will swim tomorrow night for swim finals. I love that he has found something he is great at. Here's a photo from the champs meet this past weekend started at 7 am, ugh.

Whitney, somebody posted on another forum that when chemo kills cancer, a lot of the sludge goes through the gall bladder. Fingers crossed the pain you are feeling is your body kicking those cancer bastards out of your body. I think elevated cholesterol is also a by product of chemo. Mine went up pretty significantly too. I think we have to give ourselves at least six months to recover.
Maureen, I responded on the exercise forum, but I'm pretty sure the majority of us have crapped ourselves, sometimes unexpectedly. I know I have. Hang in there! I am two months out, and other than hair issues, I'm feeling pretty much like my normal self, 10 pounds fatter, but most of my side effects are gone. One day this process will all be a bad memory. And it does goes away, kind of like the pain of child birth. I only remember chemo now as feeling like a case of the flu, even though it was much worse during the process.
-
Whitney - so happy for you and so pleased you went to check it out. Sometimes pain is just wierd, but I hope you are reassured that it's nothing serious.
-
So glad to hear that news Whitney!!!
Sharon, I hope the pain in your chest goes away! You deserve a break. Hugs!
Maureen, I actually asked my doctor if I could be done early. She laughed at me. Two weeks later I skipped a dose because of the neuropathy. Are you taking anything for the GI issues? I was given a prescription that helped with the cramping. And surprisingly adding a little more fiber to my diet helped.
-
Maryellen, I used to be a swimmer. Such a peaceful sport and such great exercise. I am so out of shape I can't even imagine what would happen if tried to do a flip turn. Ha!
-
I watched the new Netflix documentary "Tig" last night. It's a realistic look at the process of traversing a BC diagnosis and treatment with a few other personal tragedies along the way, as lived and told by a stand up comedienne. It was pretty good IMO.
-
I was just composing a short work email on my tablet which has the feature that offers words it thinks you might choose based on your typing history. I cracked up when I noticed that after typing the word "head" my tablet thoughtfully recommended "sweats."
-
Sloth- sounds like I better reactivate my Netflix account. And too funny about the thoughtful predictive text!
Did you get the bracelet yet? Have your eye on a sandwich or a dump truck or anything???
-
My phone autocorrected my best friend's name (Becca) to BRCA the other day! Nice, iPhone.

Hi all. Checking in. I had the 'maintenance' dose of Herceptin/Perjeta last Thurs and felt pretty good until the wee hours of Sunday when at 1 am I started with intractable vomitting and copious watery diarrhea. By 4 am I had lost so much fluid that I felt like I was going to pass out. DH took me to the ER for fluids but they're probably not used to people with insurance because they ran all kinds of tests to finally determine that I was dehydrated - duh. 2 liters of fluids and some IV Ativan and 9 hours later I was home. I'm still pretty wiped out but definitely feeling better than Sunday.
Good news: chest and abdominal X-rays were normal. EKG was normal. Labs were essentially normal (for post-chemo pt). I'm not pregnant (roflmao). Also had my routine echo done yesterday and my ejection fraction is good at 70%.
Even though I feel crappy (pun intended) I'm trying to look at all the positives I found out in the process.

oh Bekah. So very sorry. 9 hours! You must have been exhausted. Probably still are. Do you still have your MRI tomorrow?
Glad you're feeling a bit better. Thinking of you.
-
Bekah, sorry you were so sick. I hope you're feeling better.
Sloth, Thanks for always making me smile with your wit
-
sloth - head....sweats....I'm cracking up.

sigh...went in for my radiation consult. First I was told that most people start the consult after chemo is completed. I'm just going to wear a shirt that says..."I've got a deadline" or "this should have been done yesterday" on it. Appt started off very well. Even though I have large (DD) breasts, my tumor was so far up on my breast wall I would do lying on my back rads. This made me realize how lucky it was that I found the lump. If it had been in the middle or bottom by denser tissue it could have been awhile before it was discovered.
Bad news..I had my port replaced and those surgeons, but it right in the tumor cavity. Long story short....I can't do anything (CT scan, tattoo...etc..) until the port is removed. That has be authorized by my MO. He talked to her, but didn't get a definate answer. From that authorization my breast surgeon has to schedule me in when she is available. I'm ready to have the port removed today and get the final Taxol in my vein on Thursday. Though I'm sure no one in my team of MD's would agree to that.
I have 33 rads. 25 the first course then a special 8 blast. I do like my RO a LOT. He has a huge personality.
-
Oh Bekah - that so stinks. My MO is convinced perjeta shouldn't cause such tummy upset and I just look at her blankly when she tells me I shouldn't have those symptoms BUT I DO. She said it should only be bothersome if you're also taking Taxotere, not if you have it with taxol and not if you have it alone. She should try it some time and report back to me! ;-)
Glad you're feeling better though!! -
ThePrincess - I am 2 months PFC and still having on and off nausea. I had it very bad during almost entire Taxol adventure. My MO always said "you shouldn't have so much nausea" with Taxol. By now I'm sure it's not Taxol, but maybe now Tamoxifen is causing it? This morning I saw my MO (whom I like, by the way) and once again he said that I "shouldn't have nausea". How is this helpful?
-
My MO is completely surprised I have the D with perjeta when they add it to the taxol - I can't be the only one, right??!
-
I still get the occasional diarrhea and pooping of completely undigested lettuce, so I'm convinced the stomach trouble is more related to the Herceptin and/or Perjeta. Tomorrow is my second Herceptin only infusion.
Mary - I did my radiation consult a week before my last chemo. I wanted to get the ball rolling as fast as possible to move from one step to the next!
-
I got taxol and herception 3 weeks ago because the perjeta was so nasty - MO let me skip it, and the tummy troubles got way better - I got all 3 today so we shall see how this goes, I have a feeling it will go the "not fun route"
-
Yes, still going for brain MRI tomorrow but I'm expecting that to be ok.
I do feel exhausted but tummy is starting to feel better today. I think it was the higher (maintenance) dose of Herceptin that did me in but I don't have to worry about it now until Sept when I start it back up again. I'm just going to bring IV stuff home and have DH do my IV fluids next time That 9 hrs in the ER for 2 liters of fluid was absurd!
He's never done an IV but I've taught IVs for years and he is teachable and willing. He says I just have to use the EMLA cream first because he doesn't want to hurt me.

Hair is coming in curly so it doesn't look as long as I think it is.
-
Bekah, I am sooooo sorry you are still having issues!!! But..... You are WINNING the hair game!!!!! LOL Its so long!!!!! Super jealous
-
BEKAH! that hair!!! OMG!
-
here's Tutti to make you smile today
-
A little smile from her Royal Cuteness
-
Bekah: Wow, 9 hours for fluids? THAT sucks! I am so sorry.
I love when the doctors tell you something that's happening isn't happening. My personal favorite is BC doesn't hurt.
Maryellen: That's great that your son does that.
Tutti's a cutie, that's for sure!
-
BB, I had heartburn, nausea and vomiting on Tamoxifen, ex MO kept telling me it does not cause that. I told him my body must have missed that memo. If stopped when off it for surgeries, but resumed when back on it.
Bekah, love the hair

So Kbee, are you taking it now?
