If you're smart, everyone should visit the Symposium website and do a quick search on topics that apply to YOU. Then, remind your medical team to make sure they attend those topics/sessions. This event grows every year and many of the discussions will get lost in the "noise", especially if you have a less common BC sub-type.

I went down the formidable list of speakers. I'm excited to report that two discussions will be led by the team of Sloan Kettering rare breast cancer researchers whom I've befriended. Looking at the list, SOFT and TEXT trials will be discussed on Dec 11 at 11:15 am....can't wait! I'm also curious to see ongoing data regarding Zometa for early stagers ER +.

Not sure about transcripts...however, their website publishes each day press releases of all the major studies with links to the data.

I haven't been this excited in years! Looks like some great info will be unfolding this year...

I have Dec 11 highlighted on my calendar for a while now .....looking forward to the results of the SOFT trial ....

Would love to stop taking these zoladex shots ....... !!!!! Cant wait.

poohbear - ME TOO!!!!! im ready to ditch these shots...ive been hanging on until this years conference.

VR thanks for the exact date of dec 11 - I have an appointment with my MO on the 15th to discuss how we are going to proceed.

Since last year ,Astra Zeneca ( who manufactures Zoladex ) just pumped 120,000,000 Euro's into a new manufacturing plant for the production of Zoladex .

Always wondered if it had anything to do with the results of the SOFT trial leaning towards a significant benefit to the use of Zoladex with tamoxifen,

and that they needed to have the manufacturing facility and capacity in place and ready to handle the huge orders coming in from breast cancer patients once results were made public ????

just a thought !!!!

PoohBear - very interesting.  I think the benefit will still have to be individualized by patient.  If your recurrence is low to begin with then the benefit may not be great enough for the SE.  You are stage 1 grade 1 so I bet you will be in that camp.  I am stage 2 grade 3 so the absolute benefit may be more worth it for me.  This is the discussion I just had with my friends MO who I asked this very question.  She does not feel it will be practice changing/standard of care.  She feels MOs will look at each individuals risk and determine if the benefit of OA outweighs the risk of it. My MO is pushing me to stay in meno and switch to an AI but again, that is probably because of my own personal recurrence risk factors

hopefully the results will make this grey a lot more black and white!!!!

pooh! Now THAT is very interesting! That said....Zoladex and Lupron have benefits for other diseases....including prostate cancer and infertility...so it doesn't surprise me that they need to ramp up production....

My MO wasn't that enthusiastic that there would be any game changers with respect to the upcoming SOFT/TEXT results. He thinks it will take many more years before we will see any significant data...similar to the Zometa trials....just look how long it took the ATLAS trial to yield data!!!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the results yield significant data!

LET THE SYMPOSIUM BEGIN!!!!!!!

You can follow the conference on Twitter at #SABCS2014. Lots of Dr.s tweet live during presentations. It is a great way to get on the spot info.There is also an app you can download with schedules, etc.

voracious - I read your link about Mammaprint. I had this testing on one of my biopsy samples - didn't know it at the time of biopsy but my surgeon is one of the authors of the MINT trial mentioned in this article.

voracious - he was also one of the pioneers of SNB - and has published numerous papers on it. I am exceedingly fortunate that he is my BS - he is a great combo of many years of experience and someone who seeks innovation and progressive surgical technique.
