Hi barbe1958-- Yes, as they grow they need bigger shells. They come out of the old one looking so so weird. Pale pink and kinda indescribable. It scared me to death to see my little guy like that--his old shell tossed aside. At the pet store I bought a bunch of shells, not sure which size was right for him, and took them home. I put all of them on the sand in the terrarium by the hermit cab. He climbed in one--and a minute later came out.
I was worried--was something wrong with him besides just needing a new shell?
As I was pondering this he went over to shell #2, and got in. He maneuvered himself for a while and then settled down. After a bit he just got up and walked away, finally having found the perfect fit.
I left all the shells there, just in case.
More and more he reminded me of a woman trying on shoes!

Too funny!

This morning that butterfly was loving my cacti near my milkweed. Could not figure it out until
Bingo..it was a male lurking nearby in search of hmmmm

You ladies are to funny! It feels good to laugh! Hugs to all!

Bandwoman & Lisa. . .love the macro flowers and butterflies. I have to save up for the highspeed macro lens I want. Have to get my astrophotography going first.
Had some fun with falls while hiking with Dh today at one of our state parks.

scottie, mine aren't macro. Just zoomed with my point and shoot bridge camera. No lenses to tote.

Lisa, beautiful butterflies and flowers. I'll have to watch for the blue moon tonight. Thank you :-)

This is my little calico/tabby mix little girl. Another of my strays.
This is my big Yellow Fellow, these 2 are always together. I love his dirty face markings!
-
Thanks Trill. Love hearing your blue ring story. I love their special blue eyes. They are such a unique color of blue.
Scottie, love your waterfall pics. Hope you are enjoying your hiking adventures. I would like to learn how to do star trails sometime.
Lisa, love those Monarchs. I had to look up how you can tell a male from a female. I read it was the male that had the two black spots on their tail feathers. Who knew. I am at my mom's and sometimes feel like I am in hybenration as I never get to see the news on TV. I had no idea there was a blue moon. I will have to remember to check tonight and look for it. Great hand held shot.
Lori, love all the cat pics. Wow, the stray cats must love you!
Have a great week ladies.

Ladies-- A handsome fellow, waterfalls, courting butterflies, a blue moon--and all topped off by furry porch visitors--who could ask for a better visual collection? Thanks! t
-
Nancy, they sure do! If the bowl is empty they will sit and stare into the house waiting. I've had about 7 different ones come but Bob and One Ear are here the most. I tried the blinking idea on Bob and he wasn't having it lol

-
Beautiful! I couldn't see it last night from our house so I'll enjoy you pictures :-)

Beautiful flowers Lisa. I love it!
Here's one of my DH playing with the raccoons last night. He put a stuffed snake on fishing line then went in the upstairs bathroom to work the fishing pole. All this to make me laugh! He doesn't care and let my DH wrap the snake around him! This raccoon is so friendly towards me that he'd come in the house if I let him!

Wow Lisa, I want to go! Where is the picture taken? Just amazing!
-
I took my mom shopping for tomato and pepper plants yesterday and we ended up with these 2 beautiful hanging baskets for her patio. The first 1 is of different flowers and the 2nd one is a cashmere plant. I've never heard of one before but itfeels just like cashmere
-
Beautiful flowers Lisa. Love the colored street.
Lori, your raccoon must be tame. You have a loving DH who goes to great lengths to make you smile. I am itching to buy my flowers but won't be able to until my three week stent at my mom's is over. I will get home at the end of May. Love the containers of flowers.
