Orlando, (and other nearby Florida cities) get together

Hi HomeMom and momaton, I started this thread last year in the hopes of meeting some of bco's friends in person, at that time several of you were in the middle of chemo and were unable to meet so I stopped following up on you waiting for the right time. I myself have advanced disease which is under control right now with anti-hormonal medication and able to move with the help of a cane but I don't have transportation so that's another problem I would have to burden one of you to giv me a ride if we decided to meet. I'm leaving to Mexico on Friday to be with my bereaved mother since my dad just passed away three weeks ago I'll be gone for 10 days. In the meantime if anyone wants to take over the effort to unite Orlando's and adjacent areas members I would be happy to join you when I come back.
Momatom congratulations on your succesfull surgery, HomeMom I firmly believe being positive is one of the reasons I am still here after 2 and a half years of being dx stage IV.
Take care,
Aurora

-

Hi auroaya. Sorry hadn't put this on my 'favorites' (now it is. Spookiesmom selected a restaurant called Columbia in Celebration and we will meet there on September 29th at 1pm.
Where are you located? Both of us are farther west of Celebration.
-
I love Columbia in celebration! I have to work but maybe I can take a half day off
-
If you can please come but if not we can always arrange another date.
-
I live East Orlando and I don't drive but I can see if the public transit Lynx will take me. I'll check on that and let you know if I can make it.
Auror
-
Let me know. If Lynx can't then I will pick you up.
-
WhooHooo maybe more?!?!?!
-
Thanks patoo I'll let you know
-
I usually work on Tuesdays also, but I've got an awesome work partner right now, so I might be able to get away for a lunch. I work in the ChampionsGate area, just a short drive down up I-4
-
Great! I'll ask for a table on the veranda, or who ever gets there first, ask for there. I will be wearing a black tshirt, red shorts.
-
Spookiesmom I'm sorry to be a spoiler but I've never been to that restaurant. Does the veranda have handicapped access? Because I'll be riding my wheelchair. I can't walk due to the rod they put on my right leg is now hanging from nothing as the hip bone is gone. I'm waiting on the results of an eco cardiogram to see if I can have surgery, but in the meantime I'm confined to my wheelchair. If it's too much trouble let me know and I won't go so you guys can sit wherever you want.

I'm sure they do, but really don't remember. I can't imagine them not having easy access.
-
I just sent an email to ask them.
-
HomeMom, hope you can join us. Auroaya, they probably do have access but if not we can sit wherever you can be accommodated.
-
I just called them, they said they don't have a ramp for access, but scooters do come in occasionally..
-
We will make it work or they will just have to bring the food outside to the parking lot!
-
Seems like the sidewalks should be accessible. Then if it's nice there is a patio we can eat outside. I was going to bring Spookie and put her in the stroller, they are allowed on the patio.
-
ALF1967 Orlando FL - I would love to meet you all but I have Hopefully my last Dr. appointment with my PS on the 29th. Hoping to get these TE's out of me. However if you all meet again please keep me in the loop. I would love to meet all of you.
-
Will do ALF. Let's all keep this thread in our favorites so we see all updates.
-
What time?
-
1:00 pm. Can you make it? WooHoo
-
I hate people who use BC as a marketing ploy. 120.00 for a bra!

there is a patio. They were redoing it last time we were there if I remember correctly
-
Yes, a patio but we want it to be wheelchair accessible. Feel free to join us if you can.
-
I think I can make it. There will be two of us that day. Unless I get an appointment at the last minute at work. I'll check back to see where exactly we will be sitting
-
Sounds good!!
