Hi Kimmy
I used Dr. Kemp - she is awesome. She is in Winter Park. 407-646-7410. Where did you get the biopsy done?
-
kemp is not on my insurance
-
I live in Lake mary and was diagnosed with ILC
I'm 45 yrs old and scared sh--! I need a recommendation for a breast doc, any suggestions?
-
Hi Kimmy, sorry you have to be here but it is a good place to start your searches and get information relative to your diagnosis. Where were you diagnosed with ILC? There should be someone there who can give you a few names in your network and you can then research and interview each. I believe Moffitt is the only NCI designated cancer center in FL but they are in Tampa which is quite far from you.
I know it is scary, especially when you are so young, but many others are on these boards who have been and are the same place as you. When just diagnosed is the worse time of this journey but it gets better (or less stressful) as time goes on. Hang in there.
-
what does NCI MEAN?
-
I think it means National Cancer Institute. However, I did research in the early part of 2015 and would not go to Moffit! I did live in Bonita Springs when I was diagnosed and used Dr. Rock for my surgeon and Dr. Wittenborn - both in Fort Myers......and loved them! I had a BMX and now drive 4 hours every 3 months for checkups.... X but HIGHLY recommend them. I had skin/nipple sparing. I now have implants. I had NO outside stitches - they use glue! I have heard awful stories about women who went to Moffit! Feel free to PM me if you have questions.

ORlando Regional Medical CEnter has the only guys in the Orlando area doing natural reconstruction.
Dr Lee and Klein

I think I'm confused. Do you need a surgeon to remove the cancer, or a plastic surgeon?
-
Sounds to me like she was recently diagnosed and is looking for a breast surgeon to remove the tumor. My take only, I could be wrong.
-
I firmly believe all women should know their options for reconstruction before they have surgery. The plastic surgeons work with the breast surgeons but they are the ones to explain options for the final result. Many times the mastectomy and reconstruction can be done at the same time since they work as a team.
-
I had a team from the get go, so I was a little confused. Too bad Kemp isn't on your insurance. I'm sure someone here can give you some names.
-
was referred by other Fla ladies when I moved down here recently to Dr David Wright, with Fla Cancer centers of America, in Tampa. He is an oncologist. No surgeon names as mine are finished already, from Illinois. Met with Dr WRight and was very impressed and satisfied with him. Worth the hour drive from Homosassa

I want to congratulate JBokland for appearing in the Orlando Sentinel this morning with her bc story! Jeanette (sp) I would really like to get involved with Libby's Legacy.
-
Home mom or JBokland I don't get the Sentinel is there an online version of the article and can one of you post the link? Either way congrats Jeanette the more exposure to our plight the better the chances for more research.

Happy New Year everyone, I went back to working as an onsite sales agent for a builder - no more freedom, but I will now have income! Here's to a blessed and healthy 2017 for ALL of US!
-
wow, last year was terrible I did not even realize I posted here then. I am going to UF in Orlando. I went thru AC and Taxol surgery and I'm now 19/33 into rads. I'm the one limping in cause of my sciatica right now, and to be honest don't know for sure but ain't got time to look into that. Fear is also a part. Anyway that's me!! I'm really contrary about being independent but a warm person so if you see me please say hi. I'd love to get to know people. I was a real mess back then just kept getting awful news and felt out of sorts.
-
Pammac - the beginning is all bad news isn't it? You settle into your new "normal" and adjust just knowing you're actually not going to die tomorrow. I didn't think I'd see Christmas until my surgeon told me I wasn't getting out of buying presents!
