Hope you are ALL well and happy.
Nihahi, Agree British men are mainly assholes !! I blame their flaming Mothers. My DH was one of 10 children and was neglected quite badly so think that might be the root of his problems.
MOT is a certificate that your car MUST have to prove it is safe on the road. My little car FAILED !!
Left it for repair so should be ok by lunch time tomorrow.
Unless certificate in place every year not allowed on the road.
Feel free to smack DH with the book by the way. ha ha
Love the quote about BC will copy it into my little notebook and look at it when start feeling yuk.xTraii, Glad you found your pulse precious cyber baby !!
DS will adore Peppa Pig, lucky boy. Don't blame you for not telling him, we never tell little ones about anything like that until on the way out of the door.
Sorry your DH can be a pain too, thought it was just because we have been together too many years, you two are practically newly weds. BC is a right bitch and no mistake, she could cause trouble in an empty house as my Mum used to say.
Nihahi is true inspiration, still helping us all even though she went through treatment so long ago.Thrilled her Alien has been destroyed YAY.
Take care xPeggysull, sorry you are going through a difficult time too, hope Counsellor helps x
Dakota, Put up electrified fence !! That Bxxxxxd needs cooking. Good luck Friday and sure someone will help with DS if you just ask x
Mowenna, My legs are wobbly just reading of your efforts ! Thanks for your reassurances too WE WILL get to the five years and then Party Time Yay !!
Hope your arm keeps behaving xLiefie, CONGRATULATIONS !!!! Thrilled to bits for you and Grandpappy lol. Bet you did buy something ?
Good luck with check up.
Love you ALL soooo much xMovie, Hope tooth easing and sorted ? x
Websister, Google Peppa it is a gentle and delightful cartoon. GD's have learnt a lot from it and still love it even at almost 7 years old.
How did you get on today ? xCaitlin, Volunteering this week all being well.
Sure hysterics will be had but SOD IT !! With you on the cleaning front, more important things to do.
Look after yourself xLove to all Brave Warrior Sisters xxxx
-
Wowzer! Sounds like you've got some of that "spunk" back Edi!!!!! I do hope that the volunteer work happens this week, and in the weeks to come, as you truly sound committed to doing it.....and I'm sure you do it very, very well! If the "hysterics" from hubby start up.....just ask him why he gets so upset about you helping others???? Might be a good starting point to get things talked out??? Gee, hope you haven't been driving around in an unsafe car....glad to hear it's been fixed!
Alien....hmpf.....haven't thought about that battle for weeks....must be another sign that I'm happy with my recon choice! 3 month appt with PS is on Wednesday....likely will be talking about fipple timing...I'll be thinking of you on Friday Dakota....looking forward to hearing how your recon goes.
Traii.....still got drains??? If so, hope they get yanked soon, if not....WOOHOO!
Benny....hope the lympha appt went well today.
Liefie....still grandbaby shopping????
Time to get supper going.....guess what's on the menu......come on, guess......yup.......MEATBALLS....just to get that topic rolling again
! -
Hey ladies
still got the drains 12 days post surgery. Honestly will yank them out myself soon!!
Todays fluid was more than yesterday!!
Well i have BS apt tomorrow so maybe she will take them out.
I've had a sinus headache even worse the last couple of days and chills last night. May need antibiotics but nurse said wait until tomorrow!
Love to all, feeling a little sleepy needed to be at my mums at 9am..im ready to sleep & its only 10;30am..lol
xxxx -
aww Traii.....feel better. Drains are a pain, but things can get screwed up if they come out too soon!!!! Hang in there!
-
Edi - you do sound better
. It sounds like I would like to introduce my GD to Peppa when she's old enough
Traii - not liking that the sinus headache is back or that you still have the drains. Sending hugs, hope the extra rest helps - you did mean that you were going to rest, right?
Nihahi - how were the meatballs? Might have to make some up myself soon.
Liefie - how was your appt and retail therapy?
Thought I should update you on my appointment today. It was a long morning. I was there for bloodwork at 7:45 a.m., I was supposed to see oncologist at 1000. Turns out my MO is on holidays and a GP that works with her was filling in, she was running late so didn't see her until about 11:30. She rushed through the appt - MUGA was good, booked last 4 Herceptins. She said 'good news' - MRI showed no mets to spine but did show degeneration to the facet joints in the lower lumbar spine resulting in L5 slipping onto S1 vertebra (anterolisthesis) and that is causing the pain and muscle spasms. She said my GP could follow up.
Last Herceptin will be October 2nd and will not see MO again until December. Realized after while driving to work that we didn't discuss port removal. -
First of all, Websister, YAYYYY!!!!!!! What a relief, and what a long time you had to wait to hear that good news! So very happy for you, and hope now something can be done to help you get rid of that pain. You will sleep better tonight, I am sure.
Trail, I had my drain for 17 days post mastectomy. A royal pain in the you- know- what, but it will be a bigger pain if you develop a seroma. Soon this will be over. My cousin, 36, had a double MX today with immediate recon, implants like you. She has two little boys. Hope everything went okay. She first had chemo too like you. Hope the sinus will clear up soon too.
Nihahi, what kind of meat did you use? I know for a fact it was not moose. . .Lol.
Edi, hope your car will be fixed, and you will be mobile again. Like to hear the feisty Edi returning - way to go! No, I did not buy anything for baby. Was looking though . . . Don't know how long I will resist the temptation.
Ob/gyn visit went well. Healthy breast still healthy, and all other parts well too. Getting a routine mammo in November. Retail therapy was good. Bought new bathmats for both bathrooms. The old ones were 16 years old, and it was time. Costco had nice clothes today, and I came home with some cami's, two cardigans and a pair of pants. Treated myself to a toasted Mediterranean veggie sandwich and a cappuccino for lunch. I wore a pedometer for the first time today, and so far have 6057 steps for the day. Not too bad, because I did no intentional exercise. Will try for ten thousand tomorrow. I am tired tonight. Was the first time after DIEP that I drove so far by myself, and it was a long day.
Good night, ladies. Caitlin, Benny, Alive, all the others, good wishes to you all! -
Hi lovely Bellies.......tooth issues not sorted yet.....tomorrow is the day.......a re-root canal........apparently about 2% of the population has a "problem" that causes a re-do........Yay for me......
I told the endo that I also had BreastCancer......so I was feeling extra extra special today.......
Been dealing with DD and her Endo issues......supposed to get surgery next week......insurance issues.......s**t........don't know if they will be solved before and in time.......the downside of private insurance......
I am sorry I have not been more diligent in checking in........been a bad week for me.....
Miss you ladies more than I do my "real" (haha) friends!
Love to all....
Namaste and God Bless - Jackie -
Yeh Websister, great news. Now bring on October 2nd, time to party with last Herceptin

Liefie , Happy that your Ob/gyn visit went well for you
What, your drains were in for 17 days..wow though I think these wont got tomorrow
one of the sites was weeping last night so nurse cleaned it all up this morning. Then, having dinner I felt my top wet, I was weeping on the other drain site, so my mum had to change the dressings . Its a little red so who knows, perhaps they will take them out tomorrow though I would rather them stay in if they have too, yes a pain as they are, but I had a seroma the size of a large orange under my arm when they removed my lymph nodes. I think the drain came out a little early.!Your cousin is in my thoughts. A year older than me! Can't be easy with 2 kids because I know it's not with my one! I miss my little mans cuddles at night time and again waking me up in the morning. Can't wait to have him back home with us. Its just too quiet and my house is STILL clean after 2 weeks !!!
Movie, good luck with that root canal. I hope DD surgery goes well and insurance probs sorted.
Edi, hope your car is back up and running for you. Love you cyber mummy x
Hope everyone is doing well. xx
-
Congrats, whooowhooott, going out to websister and liefie for great reports from the dr appts yesterday.!!!! Gold stars for the both of you!
liefie....seriously....not even one little bunny or just one sweet little onesie???? You are a strong, strong woman! Not too shabby on the pedometer steps...good for you! How's that pesky back today?? Thoughts and positive vibes going out to your cousin!
websister...so glad the mri was clear for mets. That had to be weighing on your mind....you're only human! (super-human in your case, though
! Great MUGA scan too! I have no idea how you feel about chiro, and I'm certainly not pushing it, (there's lots of "overadjusting" going on out there in my opinion), but that massage therapist works with a really good chiro. Certainly wouldn't "fix" the facets, so to speak, but MAY (again, no expert here), help to realign things to give you a chance to strengthen the muscles needed to keep things better aligned??? Ha....we might be signing you up for the exercise gang! (gentle yoga for the back if nothing else)!!!!! Traii....you are getting closer to the finish line....hang in there. Once you've had a seroma...smart to realize you don't want another one!
Movie...for pete's sake....how many speed bumps does life have in store for you??? Hope daughter gets that surgery...and that it is a long term help for her. The insurance issues in the states are horrific, from what we hear. I had to have a root canal done on a tooth that had been capped, without the dentist making sure the tooth roots were sounds....$$$$ and pain....then, $$$$ and pain all over again! There outta be a law!!!!!!
I hope nobody feels obligated to post, when life is crazy....we love you, posting or not. Always great to hear from you, always understandable when there's a pause. I think you've got a pretty insane pace to life....self employed people have no down time!!!! Plus, you're caring for Mom, plus (you'd better be) you're caring for yourself!!!!!!!
Time to pour that second cup of coffee...then off to physio....have good days ladies....love going out to all!!!!!!!!
-
Caitlin, so Friday you are done with rads - you have come a long, long way! End of treatment is an exhilarating feeling, although most of us hit a low afterwards, that 'cast adrift' sensation when we have no more drs fussing over us or appts to go to. It takes a little time to get used to the fact that you are now normal again - NOT. A new normal, yes. People outside of our sisterhood struggle to understand it, but fortunately we all have this site, a real lifesaver! A new baby in your family sounds wonderful! That cuteness, helplessness, total innocence and the heavenly smell of a (clean!!!) baby always melt my heart. Enjoy!
Morwenna, you will feel great when you lose that port on Thursday. No more accoutrements to remind you, eh?
Movie, you must be super busy with all your obligations. Just check in when you can - we ALWAYS love to hear from you. Good luck tomorrow with that pesky tooth, and best wishes for DD's surgery and insurance issues. Every time I hear about that, I thank my lucky stars for the Canadian health system.
Traii, yes, it can't be easy for my cousin with the two little boys. Her DH is hands on with the kids, and my aunt, her mother, lives close by. She helps out a lot. Saddest thing for me is that her trademark, the thick, beautiful auburn hair that came halfway down her back, is now gone . . . it grows again, I know, but it still sucks. Good luck on those drains coming out, and giving you your freedom back. To me the drain felt like an attention-seeking puppy that I had on a leash all the time - lol.
Nihahi, in Homesense yesterday I had a lovely baby gift pack in my hands containing all kinds of goodies. If it was green or yellow, and not sky blue, I would surely have given in. DD and SIL do not want to know the sex of the baby beforehand, so will avoid pink and blue for now.
Tonight we're going out for dinner with our (almost) single friend to celebrate his birthday. He is in the midst of a very messy divorce, and needs all the support he can get. Such a good guy who had the misfortune to marry a woman who cheated on him numerous times. Stayed married to her for 30 years, trying to make it work for the sake of his children. Sad indeed. Dakota, when can you visit so I can introduce you? LOL.
-
Hi all, just a super quick note here to say I'm still here, still reading every day, just not posting because I'm so far behind. Will have to wait til tomorrow too as I am e-x-h-a-u-s-t-e-d from a full day at the farm.
So glad to hear about the MRI, websister. Back problems are a pain but what a relief to hear 'good news'.
Lymphedema appointment went well. I don't have lymphedema but she says my upper arm area is 'heavy', so have to do manual lymph drainage, physio exercises. Massage is okay but no deep tissue massage.
I still don't have Charlotte the chicken. Elise (the owner) has a cage for me but it's buried in her basement somewhere so need to get that set up first. But for sure Charlotte is coming with me.
Okay, must go have quick shower then to bed. Another day at the farm tomorrow. I have been working Diamond in the round pen. I don't think she's ever even been in a round pen?! Didn't ride her today, rode some others, will keep working with Di because she needs a serious refresher.
Liefie, CONGRATULATIONS on the news!!! Oh, and if Dakota is not interested in your friend, consider me

Okay, I really have to go now, I'm sure I'm not even making any sense any more. Goodnight everyone. I will write a much better post tomorrow when I can hold my head up.
Oh, one more quick thing..... physiotherapist told me to buy a TAB bra. I looked them up and the pictures don't look all that good tho? The bra pictured on the female model does not fit said model! You can see them online. Just google Tab bra
Okay, I'm getting too weak to type so really must go LOL
-
My dear Bellies.......
Love you ladies!
Liefie, I neglected to congratulate you (I think-cant remember much these days, and have the attention span of a gnat!) on the Gma status coming your way......very exciting! Way more fun than being a parent, for sure!
Nihahi-the energizer bunny! Love your encouragement and enthusiasm! Trip is a go to Glacier.......during root canal today I walked the Iceberg Lake trail.......saved my sanity!
Speaking of root canal....done, done and DONE! The Endo found a root that had been entirely missed 17 yrs ago when I had it done the first time.....go figure. Face hurts like I've been sucker punched, but am doing fine!
So happy for the positive test results that have been shared here....we all deserve a bit of good news now and then, don't we?
Traii.....keep the drains until the output is minimal....my abdominal drain(one of them) malfunctioned and I ended up with an infection that blew the incision wide open.....NOT fun!
Have taken a Percoset to help w/pain (and sleep).........
Love and post-root canal (((hugs))) to all!

Hi ladies sorry its been a whirl wind of a few days. I changed the locks again, cancelled credit cards, changed passwords and finally told the cockroach to go f*** himself. I told him I hope he enjoyed his having the cake and eating it to life because it was over and told him to tell his girlfriend thank you for getting him out of my life!!!! Lifie, I have said it many times never on here, I would rather go thru BC than a cheating spouse. I swear I will PM you my email if your friend nneeds someone to talk to. I can relate. It's SO hard. Ok and a date would be fab!!! On another note I went out by my self last night for a glass of wine to celebrate my one year since my DX. it was great!!! I hope everyone is doing well. Live you girls !!! Gotta do my hair... Haha... For work !!! Hugs

-
Such good news Dakota, 1 year celebration
whoo hoo to you. It could not have been easy dealing with BC and the cockroach but you did it girl and you came out a stronger person. You go girl
Benny, I googled TAB Bra. If you've only had a Lumpectomy not sure why they'd want you to wear one of those....I still wore a underwire bra throughout summer with slight 'heaviness' in my arm that I thought was lymphedema. I suppose each therapist is different in their ways.
Liefie, I'm sorry I missed the bit of you going to be a grand ma....congrats (little slow these days) ! You are not wrong about the leash thing with the drains! Today we had our first town house inspection that we will be renting out. I wanted to go , so I used one of my mums big bags that I could have the strap in the middle of the chest popped drains in them and no one could tell.....was so excited about this...LOL Hope your cousin is doing well x
Movie, WTH, incision popped....Its ok, these drains are staying on for time being. BS can't overule the PS anyway she told me today. One pushed out heaps more than the other so I am staying put with them for time being. Never mind. I'm cool with that because well, I have to be right? I know I know, patience!! I'm just starting to have withdrawals from driving and retail therapy..LOL Glad root canal went well.....
Caitlin, pocket party Friday right? Edi will have to just make that cake for us sisters to eat to celebrate and put our party hats on

Maria/ Alive hope you are doing well.
Carla, where is our Carla thinking of you xx
Peggysull, hope your appt went well on Monday
Nihahi, hope physio went well and you got that 2nd cuppa or even 3rd in !!
Love going out to all from me and my 2 drains xxxx
-
Traii - felt the love from you and your two drains

Movie - hope the Percocet did the trick
Benny - have a wonderful day at the farm. Glad it wasn't lymphedema, googled the TAB bra, maybe the site I hit wasn't the one you were on, this one had two models in the bras and the fit looked good. I think I will try to find a place here that I can check them out, did the nurse give you any info in that regard?
Liefie - thinking of you enjoying your beautiful lake. Has grandpa already been out for his morning waterski?
Nihahi - beautiful day here also, hope it is a good one for you
Edi - hope you are doing well and conquering those fears - did you hit DH with the book
yet
Dakota - good for you. Glad you took some time for yourself also to recognize your cancerversary and all you have made it through this year, you are one strong woman!
Caitlin - countdown!
Have to run, working today and have to water my plants etc before I head there. Saw my Mom yesterday and did her hair, took her for a little walk. Find that it wasn't sudden but my mind is moving on from BC, a good thing
-
I am reading the posts about drains and I realize that even though I had them in for almost two weeks a little over 3 months ago, I had totally repressed the irritation, etc. that went with them. Same for chemo, I told my husband I would never ever go thru chemo again even if I died (this was while I was going through chemo). Now I know I would do it all again to save my life.
The mind is incredible, and I have a new healthy respect for repression.
Hope everyone is hanging in there!
Hugs,
Peggy -
Oh my, exhausted again today. Might stay home and putz around the house.
Websister, the TAB bra is available through a woman named Ellen Chan, (ellen@artofshaping.com , 403-803-2983), who is supposed to be very good at fittings. The place is not far from the Richmond Diagnostics. It's at 2013 31st Street SW. I'm going to go tomorrow after my follow-up breast appointment so will post my experience. I was always told that a good fit meant the bra band touches your skin between the breasts. If it's not touching your skin, the cup size is too small. In those pictures, the bra band was way out. I would be getting her (the model) into a smaller band and a bigger cup size. I think they're quite pricy too but I am wondering if ABC or our wellness/health funds would cover some or all?
Traii, she said it aids in proper compression and lymph fluid drainage. She knows I've had a lumpectomy but thought it would be helpful just because I've had lymph nodes removed. I'm willing to try it. She said no more underwire, which is very upsetting because those were my favourites. I am D cup, I need my underwire!
Okay must run and finish coffee then decide what I am doing today. I'm leaning toward staying in and doing laundry. If I'm sore from yesterday, Diamond will be too. That being said, I hopped up and down onto a few horses yesterday, numerous times from both sides, without using the mounting block. This is evidence my strength is coming back, albeit slowly.
Okay, will be back later...... a wonderful day to everyone.
Oh, another thing I keep forgetting (slaps self on side of head)..... Edi, you were considering taking riding lessons with GD after this was all over. What's happening with that? Is that still a goal? You might not have the strength yet but have you thought any more on this? You will be AMAZED at the healing power of horses. Even if you're just grooming them. Even if you're just standing and talking to one. Even if you just get on and someone ponies you around. Please consider it, dear Edi. This was an interest of yours before and GD would probably love it too.

-
Peggy, I totally hear ya on the repression! I was just thinking the other day how I have no memory whatsoever at all my chemo infusions. I know websister was there, I know she kept me sane, I know she gave me an orange and soda water and a card that helped me continue to see Diamond and many other things, but I really have no memory of it other than that. It's as tho' it was so horrible that my mind blocked it. As a person who is TERRIFIED of needles, sitting there with a needle in my hand for 2.5 hours is beyond belief. How did I do it? Mind-boggling. Thank you again, Websister, for everything. You'll never know how much it meant to me because there are no words to express that.

-
Me again, taking a break between laundry loads and vacuuming....
I follow the column of a gentleman named Roy Exum, who has been keeping many of us horsey people, specifically Tennessee Walking horse people, up to speed on what's going on in the walking horse industry in Tennessee (a practice called soring [illegal] has been in the news a lot lately and Roy is on top of it). He has recently had some health challenges as he calls them. I don't know the nature of them, but he included some very inspiring quotes in his column this morning so I thought I'd copy them here:
It has been a rather tumultuous week, this after an MRI last week revealed I have some medical problems that need quick attention, so as I journey back to the Mayo Clinic today, I thought I might share what is printed on some neatly-folded papers in my hip pocket. I call them bullets and, if a dark thought or a crummy notion comes along, I zap it with one of my bullets. It is really simple.
These are easy to use and you can reload at any time. They can be used over and over and, best yet, shared with others who need them time to time. So I always keep bullets around for when “the black dog” begins to circle (that’s what Sir Winston Churchill called his depression .)
Allow let me share a few as I head out of town:

Wow, Benny! Thank you for posting those powerful reminders for us. I so appreciate it!
Dakota, sending a BIG cyber-(((HUG))) to you......you are Woman, hear you roar! So proud of you.......and congrats on the year mark.
Everybody else, will try and post later, must get my mother to her pacemaker/cardiologist appt. in 30 min!
XO
Namaste and God Bless - Jackie -
Thanks Benny !!!
-
Thanks for that Benny.....many wise words there, for all of us. ((((X))))
-
Adding my thanks back to you, Benny - good quotes to have on hand
Re: bra - I needed a Dr's prescription to have my post mastectomy bra covered but I had no problem getting my oncologist to write one for me. I believe the plan that I chose covers reimbursement for two bras a year. I will be interested to see how your appointment goes tomorrow, I hope well
Long but good day in most ways - I enjoyed work and got to visit and hold my 3 week old granddaughter after work. On the way home after that there was a beautiful rainbow in the sky to the east that made me smile.
This evening though one of my cousins phoned to tell me that another cousin was just diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer, she is booked for surgery next week. We talked for awhile, she was looking for hope. There is always hope
-
websister.....so sorry to hear the news of your cousin. Sending her positive thoughts and prayers. How "circle of life" to hear that news, after holding a newborn in your arms. Glad to hear you enjoyed the rainbow....it came from one h**l of a storm here!
I finally got a call up from the Red Cross to help with something I can physically do, (I hope), so I am doing that on Saturday and Sunday, not sure yet if I'll be working in Calgary or High River. Today, I made plans with a widow in our condo who is starting chemo next week. I am going to be her driver, at least until she has an idea of how it goes for her. Of course, her appt. at Tom Baker is for 8:30 am, so we'll be leaving Okotoks at 0'dark:thirty.....but no way will I let her do this on her own.
-
You are a good woman, Nihahi ((())), hope traffic is as good for you tomorrow a.m. as it has been for me all week.
-
It's next Thursday, not tomorrow.....but thanks for letting me know about the traffic! It'll be what it'll be, no point in worrying.....right!!!!
-
Just want to say goodnight to everybody. Been busy, and I cannot keep my eyes open anymore. Will respond tomorow. So sweet dreams to all!
-
Nihahi, you are an AMAZING human being......I hope you realize that! I wish you were MY neighbor!
. We'd never get anything constructive done......we would be hiking hither and yon!
Websister, so sorry about your cousin.........truly hope she finds the help and comfort she needs to kill this beast!
One of my DIEP friends said it best: "BC-the gift that keeps on giving"
