-
Enjoyed seeing everyone yesterday, and it was nice to meet you Zappons!
-
I'm so bummed I couldn't make it. I seem to have caught the flu from the kids at school. I feel miserable!
-
kira...(((hugs)))) hope you feel better soon! I've doubled up on my Vitamin C and am trying to keep my distance from anyone sniffling or coughing but I know its near impossible not to catch something when you're around so many kids.
-
It was great to see you all yesterday! Such a wonderful group of ladies! Kira hope you feel better very soon!
-
Terrific time with all who could be there -- looking forward to the next. Cheesecake yesterday, then today we ate at Outback to celebrate a friend's birthday, and had their new Nutter Butter Peanut Butter Pie -- oh my, very creamy. Some kinda diet starts Monday!
Get better, Kira, hope to meet you next time.
-
I am so sorry I missed the gathering. My husband got sick and could not take me. I was really looking forward to meeting everyone and was incredibly disappointed.
Pam
I am so craving cheesecake too... -
It was a wonderful time seeing everyone again and I missed those who were unable to attend. Kira, I hope you are on the mend and do take care of yourself. Pam, there will be another time and I hope it will be soon.
-
We should make plans to carpool !
Gas money saved=more money for cheescake.
-
Lee7, you are so bad! (But I mean that in a good way.)
Hope you feel better soon, kira.
-
I'm so glad you all had a good time. Still home feeling sick. My bones hurt. Drinking lots of tea and rsting chicken noodle soup. What bums me out is I had the flu shot!
-
Someone will probably tell me I'm wrong for thinking this but I swear some people can get the flu FROM the flu shot. OR maybe sometimes its an allergy to something else in the shot. ? I've always been too chicken to go get one.
Gingerale and saltine crackers help if your stomach feels a little queasy.

Hi to all the Tampa ladies. I live in Florida too.( Pembroke pines) I'm looking for a place to get a second opinion on my pathology results of needle biopsy. It was ADH/borderline DCIS. Do any of you go to Moffit Cancer center? Were you happy with care received there? How is their reputation? Any recommendations about where to go for a 2nd opinion would be welcome! I need some advice & guidance.
-
let - Moffitt Cancer Center is the only NCI designated cancer center in Florida - they have a great reputation. Are you doubting the pathology report that has already been done, and are you requesting a second opinion to switch providers, or just to confirm what has already been found?
-
Hi Specialk. Thank you for info. I'm interested in a 2nd opinion because the borderline status makes me nervous. Wondering if my treatment recommendations would be different if it changed to DCIS. Also when they did lumpectomy the pathogy report said no residual ADH/DCIS found! This also makes me question findings. Mostly because seems like sample may have been taken from opposite side of my breast than original biopsy. Incision was made on left side of nipple as well as scar tissue, swelling& pain on left. However needle biopsy was done on opposite( right) side of nipple. I didnt have nerve to ask bs face to face. I'm a wimp. But I did mention my concern to my genetic counselor 2 days after surgery. She said due to location of lesion or fact I was lying down, etc it's possible this was best way to go in. Anyway maybe I'm just being paranoid! Can't seem to shake this feeling they missed the area. I went to a reputable breast cancer center which I've been going to for several years. Guess I'm just confused & need another doctor to confirm the results
-
Pathology is somewhat subjective so it is possible that your slides might be interpreted differently by a different pathologist. I have heard of some people whose entire lesion/mass is removed by the biopsy so there is nothing residual upon lumpectomy. If you are concerned about whether the area was truly removed it seems like you need a surgical consult, not another look at your slides. Have you had any imaging done since your lumpectomy? If you had DCIS with no invasive component, how would your treatment change from the lumpectomy you have already had, assuming the area was removed? Was radiation recommended?

Just had to share -- My numbers did come back high enough to have my final chemo today! Woohoo! Now just hoping the tumor markers and petscan in 2 weeks show the decrease that we are hoping for.
-
nbnotes - yay!!!
-
Yay, Nbnotes, so glad for your final chemo. We'll be waiting for the upcoming test results, praying for more good news.
-
Nbnotes, great news about having your last chemo, now done and behind you ! Time to rest and recover. I will be praying for you to have good results on your scans.
LET1968, Welcome! I can wholeheartedly recommend Moffitt. They did the second opinion pathology for me.
-
Nbnotes, great milestone! Keep the journey moving forward:)
Let, I'm at Moffitt. I would recommend seeking treatment from them. Good luck and bring an advocate with you to these Drs Appt.....a friend or family member who will speak up for you during the office visit! I remember my husband made everyone STOP. He asked me if I understood what was being said, I hadn't so he asked everyone to start the appt all over again!!
Blessings,
Lorraine -
That is wonderful news, nbnotes. I hope this recovery from chemo is easier that the others, but at least it is the last one. Prayers for more good news in a few weeks.
-
Yay, nbnotes! Sending many positive thoughts your way.
-
Let, any time you feel concern or even if confirmation is needed by all means get another opinion. Your own sense of well-being (such as it is with what you're going through right now) is tantamount overall.
-
Thank you ladies for the helpful advice & encouraging words! I appreciate it very much.
-
I went to Moffit for my second opinion about radiation, but want to add the only thing I did not like was because it is considered a hospital as well I was billed a facility fee as well as a regular bill. My insurance considered it out of network, BCBS.
I remember it was an expensive second opinion...
Pam -
It's pricey overall there for a second opinion, even with in-network insurance. It was worth it though if merely to confirm what the first had said.
-
Hi Everyone!
Thanks Lee for telling me about this link! I went to the first lunch but have been out of touch since then.
I am looking forward to the next get together and meeting all of you that I haven't met yet!
I just passed the 3 year mark since my mastectomy! And bone scan and CT scan came back showing no cancer!! (happy dance)
