oh Ray, I know Jacob will be alright, I hope you don.t get it.. prayers coming your way. hang in there.
-
I hear you Ray, we so worry about our kids, but looking back, Claire had a horrible case of chicken pox at 4years old. she dosent remember it at all!!!!! praise God, but I sure remember it, lol. Stay well and hope Jacob is doing well also' Hi Joanne
Hi Doc
-
Hey, there, Friends!
Glad you're checking in, even if it's about chicken pox
Have you counted them yet, Ray? I well remember that pink calamine lotion my mom would put on my pox. I put it on my kids, too, and gave them that discusting looking Aveno bath (oatmeal-based, I think). I hope Jacob's sweet little face gets few or none at all, if possible! And isn't it your last day of your FT job today, Ray? I hope you get to celebrate somehow, even if it's taking yourself out for your favorite treat. Hey--I was wondering how drive-through windows work when it's SO cold and stormy in the winter. Trying to imagine rolling the window down in a bad snow or ice storm--yikes! I'm still jealous of you having fresh snow. I tell ya--I'm in heaven, eating fresh snow and making homemade icemilk with it

Susan--have you started your dance or archery lessons yet? Gotta keep us in the loop!
Funny thing my granddaughter said to her mom after her mom said how well she was doing with her potty training. Kylie responded, "Thanks, Mom! Yeah--I need to ride that potty train."
Another thing that happened with misunderstanding English was with one of my piano students from India. She's 8 and fluent in English, but not in all of our odd sayings. I asked her to please try playing the piece, even if it looks difficult. I told her, "Just give it a shot." She gave me the most perplexed look and asked why I said that. It caught me so off guard! Had she never heard that phrase? I found myself trying to explain what it meant, but it still didn't make sense to her (or to me--ha!) Guess I need to google the origins of that phrase
Just bought a used car last night to replace one of our VERY used cars (all 3 of our cars have 200,000 miles, built in early 90's and BEAT!). This 2005 "new-to-us" Toyota Sienna mini van has 104,000 miles, but we're hoping it will give us some good years with no big problems. Since my husband is almost 6'9" he has very few affordable cars he fits in. We anticipate the timing belt needing to be replaced, but crossing fingers that won't be necessary. We have 2 more care to replace with decent used cars. It's a painful process, but at least we're down one!
Good weekend to all, and Ray--I KNOW you'll do a wonderful job teaching the same lesson Sunday to the young women on the plan of salvation. You have a love for the girls and a love for Jesus Christ and His gospel. It will show and affect the girls in a positive, enlightening way. Susan--if you're curious about gospel principles taught in the LDS faith, let us know and we'll give you the cliff notes

-
Ray--here's the link to the article I mentioned in a PM in case you don't have your Feb. magazine yet. Hope it helps your Plan of Salvation lesson! And Susan--you might like to check it out, too, so you know what we're talking about

thanks Joanne, I will
-
ok...I could be cupid!!!!!! I loved my archery class and was very comfortable shooting the arrows. Going back this week. I think I will try out for the Hunger Games movie if they make a second one...lol
hope everyone is well
Susan
-
OMGosh, Susan! What a visual you gave me with the movie idea--ha! I"m with Ray--I'll buy a copy, too
Keep up your quest to develop those hidden talents and explore everything you've dreamed about. Enjoy, and return and report to your BCO sisters :O)My middle daughter gave birth today to her first baby--a 9 lb 6 oz chunky boy! His name is Tanner Wayne, and he's got lots of dark hair for my daughter to fuss with. She's dog tired but happy. Her husband let her name the baby, even though he REALLY wanted to name him "Titan." Oh, well--next time

Hope everyone is hanging in there and doing well and staying warm. Love to all!
-
congrats Joanne, so cool. babys are great!! enjoy and God Bless
Hi Ray, maybe you could be my manager
-
Hi All!!! I've missed you & have been thinking of you all often. I'm glad to see you're all chugging along taking 1 day at a time:)
I too am doing well. I'm going to start back working as a nurse March/April, only a few hours a week but it's an improvement:)
I Thougt you might enjoy the quotes & sayings below. They help me. BTW-I have the Sees Candy caramel recipe. Now to figure out how to get it on here:) You've been patient so just a little more please. I'll try to be better checking in. There's more but for now I'll sign off. Hugs.
Life is full of stumbling blocks. Avoiding them is an important skill but even more important is the ability to pick our selves up, dust our selves off & keep going after we've stumbled.
Confucius: Our greatest glory is not in never falling but in rising every time we fall.
Resilience is the ability to rebound from disappointment, work through adversity w/courage & patience. Refusing to give up or give in. Resilience reveals something about our character allowing us to be better wiser & stronger.
Christopher Robin said to Winnie the Pooh: Please Promise me you'll always remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem & smarter than you think:) -
So glad you checked in, TallM! We've missed you but are glad you've been busy and doing well. Working again soon? Good news! Loved your quotes, too. Thanks for giving my day a lift

Here's a pic of my newest grandson with his mommy. Tanner is home now with his parents and doing well. Can't wait to visit them in early March!

Here's another picture of my DH and me with my oldest son's children. I'll try to post pics of my other daughter's kids, too, when she finishes editing the rest of the family pics we took at this park after Christmas. Guess I should change my profile pic now that my hair is getting longer (plus an extra 15 lbs *sigh*)

-
Joanne-LOVE the pictures! Plus beautiful grand kids. They'll keep you busy. AND you are a wonderful grandma I know! I hope you enjoy your cute new little one.
Hope you all have a good evening. -
Thanks, Malinda! Hope I get more chances to be a good grandma--all my little ones live out of state
It's wonderful when they're here or when my kids use their frequent flyer miles to get me there once in a while. I'll be in Kennewick, Washington the first week of March to help with Tanner and kiss his chubby cheeks (one day he'll run when he sees me coming--ha!). Here's a pic I'm using as my Valentine to everyone on our thread. Hope all had a delicious, love-filled day!
PS My daughter posted this on Facebook with the caption: "Single and ready to mingle"

-
Adorable! There is something so special & sweet about new little ones. I bet you're so excited to see him & hold him the whole time you're there. I'm excited for you.
I hope everyone had a great valentines day. Mine was busy but good. Hope you all have a good eve & week. More later:) -
malinda, glad to hear from you, happy all is going well. good luch starting back to work. really missed you!!
joanne, absolutely great pics, thanks for posting and puttting a smile on my face
ray, how did those chicken pox go, sorry i havent asked
happy sunday all
-
Glad the pics made you smile, Susan

Hope everyone is having a peaceful and sweet Sabbath Day! All went well in our Young Women class at church today. It was "Birthday Sunday" to celebrate all the Feb. birthdays, so it was requested that I bring homemade bread and honey butter as a treat. It's a weakness of mine--bread--so I'm trying to stay out of the left overs I brought home. Self dicsipline is NOT one of my strengths! (In fact, I hear that bread and honeybutter calling my name right now, stowed away in the cupboard. Heaven help me!)
I'm amazed at the wisdom of the young 12-13 yr-old girls I teach when it really counts (otherwise, they're trying, typical pre-teens!) Anyway, the question was asked: "Why do we have trials in our lives?" One girl responded, "Because they make us stronger and better." Another girl sad," Because without sadness, there wouldn't be happiness." These answers give me hope for the future generation

Here's a very touching video I'm going to show my class of girls next week. I think you'll all appreciate it and count your blessings as you watch. Enjoy!

PS
Ray--Just wanted to thank you for your extremely generous compliments. What a sweetheart you are!
-
Joanne - I also am with the Beehives - love them. I love the Come Follow Me program - the videos really add to the lesson. The YW Presidency is speaking in church Sunday (I fear public speaking), then I teach the combined YW the next week, then we are having New Beginnings (finally). Busy, but fun. Thanks for sharing the videos with everyone. It would be fun to post our weekly activities (ideas) - we went bowling last week and our New Beginnings is going to be a cruise theme. I admire all of you and hope you all are doing well. And it's snowing, again here in Utah.
Val
-
Good luck with your talk this Sunday, Val! I'm sure you'll do just fine. And I'm all for sharing ideas for Young Women activities--post them when you can!
Ray--I know you have little angels swirling around you at all times
Glad you didn't get sick (still knocking on wood). I forgot about your surgery--shoot! Hope you're "lump-less" soon!
Still overwhelmed with prep for New Beginnings program this Tuesday. I'll be VERY glad when it's done. We're using a lot of dear Ray's ideas from her "Super Hero" theme. We're calling it: "Real Super Heroes: Young Women with Values." If anyone wants the skit we adapted, let me know and I'll send you a copy. It incorporates introducing the in coming 12 yr-old girls as "Super Heroes in Training." I'll try to get pictures of the girls in their capes, etc., and post them later.
Good weekend to all!

Hope everyone is doing well....I have my running over 40 miles a week now, preparing for Boston in April. Had an appointment with my MO this week. Still anemic.....no improvement at all in the past 4 months. And my liver is a little off. So.....probably more scans....I really don't like this part of it.
-
hang in ther firstcall....I am impressed with your running and being anemic!!!!! Must say I feel real bad personnally now...thanks....lol used to run half marathons. Now I can only muster enough energy for 2 1/2 miles..lol Prayers your way for your scans

-
Ray--I love that song, too, and glad it was in sync with my post--ha!
Best to you in your Boston prep, Dr. first, and so sorry about the scan-xiety stuff coming up. As Susan says: "hang in there!"
Susan--I'm with you on the 2 + miles at a time. That's about all I can handle with the hills I live in. I don't run anymore--too hard on my knees--so I just walk as fast as my ol' legs can go

Just watched a cute movie on Netflicks: "The Madallion" (2003) with Jackie Chan. I normally don't watch this kind of movie, but I had a crochet project (last minute blessing blanket for newest grandson!) so I sat down with DH--something he wishes I did more of--and crocheted my heart out. I love it when I can do 2 things at once!

Looking forward to resting from the cares of the world tomorrow. "Welcome, welcome, Sabbath morning!"
-
Yay - I survived talking in church on Sunday. We have all been sick here - sore throat, cough, sneezing, headache etc. Hopefully next week will be better.
Ray - good luck with your surgery.
Joanne - I am teaching our combined YW lesson sunday - do other wards do this once a month? I got some empty pill bottles - filling with skittles and the prescription will read: The Atonement of Jesus Christ - It will Cure what ails you, Matt 11:28-30.
Our new beginnings has been pushed back to March 24.
-
I appreciate everyones support, and thought I would update you. I had a variety of tests done, because of my anemia. In the process they found a new, small growth in my bladder. So now I'm scheduled for surgery this coming Wed. I hope it turns out to be benign. I'm doing fine with it, but I do feel the 'burden' of it. The past year was a challenge, and I entered this year thinking it would be a whole lot easier than last year. And, in fact it is, but its not without challenges.
-
prayers being sent your way!!!!!! good luck wednesday
-
Surgery in the morning.....I appreciate the kind words and support I have received. I received a nice priesthood blessing which brought peace to my heart. I hope I have a good path report, which I won't know for a few days. And if there's something bad there, I hope they get it out.
-
My prayers being sent your way firstcall. hope surgey goes well and they get everthing out that needs to come out. Blessings of comfort to you my friend

Ray, archery going great. loving it. claire goes on her first ever interview for the "real" job this afternno at 4pm. so if anyone has time to shoot up a few prayers that would be great. Having a 53rd birthday this Sunday. Yeahhhhhhhhhh, always great to be able to say that these days ...lol
Joanne and malinda, hope al is well with you guys. In my prayers often.
Ray give Jacob a big hug from me,
-
Ray - My first name is Adrian. And thank you for your support and prayers too. And thank you Susan for your prayers and support too. And each of you. The surgery went well. My surgeon said the tumor looked much better today than when the scope was done last week (thank you Priesthood Blessing). I am optomistic that it won't be cancerous, as was the surgeon, but I know that its not for sure until the path is back, which will hopefully be Friday. I have a ton of food. My friend John came by and filled my freezer with fresh caught salmon, halibut and cod, and a case of freshly canned tuna. My daughter very effectively settled my nerves yesterday. She lives in NY. She sent me emails throughout the day. Not a word, just pictures of my three granddaughters. Tender Mercies for which I am grateful.
Adrian
-
Adrian, good to hear surgery went well. Still in my prayers
hope you are getting plenty of rest, know its hard when you are anxious for results. Hang in there.Ray, interviews went well and she has 2 more so far. It is a blessing that she is going on interviews, many aren't getting that chance right now. The 2 she has talked to will make there decision by April 1st. Pins and needles. my fav "pie" I don't eat anymore:( the chemo is giving my stomach and intestines a run for there money, so lots don't settle. so NO lemon meringue pie for me. It will prob be a candle in a piece of fruit. Ray I hate to make you jealous but I must share.....a group of my friends collect $ every 3 months and pay for cleaning help for me!!!!! Hope you had fun cleaning..lol
Hope you are having a blast Joanne
Hi there malinda

-
Path Report came in - BENIGN!!! I am so relieved. Thank you, each of you, for your support. Having had bad news in the not to distant past, it was intense waiting for the path report.

Recovery is going well. I did hardly anything today. I spent a few hours at the hospital checking on the newborn babies that were born on my watch, and then just rested the remainder of the day. And yes, I do like fish. I decided to become a pescatarian when I changed my diet from this BC thing. Actually I decided to stop eating meat other than fish and my daughter told me that I was eating a pescatarian diet. I thought about a vegan or vegetarian diet, but it seems like you wind up eating too much soy. I don't have a soy free diet, but I didn't want a soy based diet, considering the hormones in soy. Fortunately, living in Seattle, this is a good diet. And I am fortunate that I have patients who like to fish and like to share, especially when I let it be known that I was going pescatarian.
