That noodle soup looks so yummy!  Looks like it would be great "comfort food".

Got our son all moved out.  I feel so sad when I see his rooms all empty and all his stuff missing from our house.   It will take me a few days to get accustomed to him not being here, but he'll still come around for dinner every now and then.

Sounds like everyone's doing well and had a good weekend.  Tomorrow I have my six month check up with breast surgeon.  Not expecting any problems.  I'll be due for my annual mammogram next month - First one since dx.  I'm sure that one will cause some anxiety.  Hope everyone survives their Monday.

Jazzy, Hatch green chiles? One of my favorite things. You can't get them around here. I used to make a breakfast casserole with eggs and green chiles. Man that was good!

Teka, Cami, Blondie, Jazzy, Monis, Sally and the rest of you Hermies, I love you guys!   Just feel so connected to you and even though I have never seen any of you all--you are the comfort in the storm of my life.   Many times I lurk just to read and connect.  You are loving,  compassionate, understanding, humorous as well as supportive,--I could go on and on with superlatives.  Thank you all for being you!   XOXO

    P. S. I edited this to say you are all of these wonderful things while --you too-- are going through your own battles with BC.   Just such a wonderful group of people!  Glad and proud to be one of you

Good afternoon hermits- I hope everyone's Monday is going well so far. I went to the gym today for my personal training session #4 and it kicked my butt, but continue to be grateful to have the time and money to do this. In a few more weeks, I should have my core strength up much more and she said I should expect to see some things dropping (Iike inches, the waistline, etc.) I have already seen the scales moving down too.

Monis- I am glad you got your son moved out. No doubt it will be a big change for your family, but glad to hear he is close enough to come for dinner (vs. across the country!)

And I will say the first follow up was totally nerve wracking, and although they will never be easy, that one was by far the most anxiety producing. I have gone through three now, including visit to the BS, mammo and ultrasounds. Let us know how things go for you?

Dwill- I like this thread too. We talk about everything here, bc and beyond. Glad you like being here with us and lurking is okay too.

    Teka-

    Blondie- where are you dear?

Did anyone watch the new PBS documentary on the Roosevelts last night? Really good and more to come.

Got some more outreach to do with contacts in organizations I am looking to get some work from. Jazzy is determined to find a juicy new assignment for her consulting biz!

Blondie- glad you see you pop in. I hope you can get the sleep thing worked out. So hard. Hugs sister.

Mags- I forgot to say yes, hatch green chili. Being harvested and roasting evey where these days. I wish I could fed ex you my green chili pueblo stew.

Speaking of green chilis, I found some growing along a nearby bike path here yesterday. Go figure!

Mags - We are all weird, in our own, unique ways!

Are hatch chilis a type of chile, like jalapeño or serrano?  I see them advertised in stores this time of year.  I'm only growing 1 jalapeño plant this year, but it's laden with chills right now!

Doctor's appt. went just fine today.  Scheduled my mammogram for early Oct.

I need to go to bed now.  I'm always tired, but never ready to go to bed.  I stay up way too late, then can't fall asleep when I do finally go to bed.  My sleep patterns are totally screwed up.

    Happy Tuesday, all!

Monis- green chili's are a variety pretty unique to NM, although other areas seem to grow them and harvest them around the west too. The big question here is always "red or green". They put chili here on everything. Sort of the way they do with jalapenos in TX.

Hi hermits- I did not sleep well last night but up early for a networking meeting I want to check out.

Cami- glad you had a nice time visiting with your friend. Sounds like Joey was crushing on your friend too!

Gotta get going to my day. Have a good one hermits!

Monis, also, they're called Hatch green chiles because they're primarily grown in a town called Hatch, NM. They are not hot like jalapeños as I recall (it's been many years) but delicious. I would eat Mexican food every day if I could. But can't handle the really hot stuff.

I'm going to have company today! A friend is coming over in a couple of hours. We've known each other for like 15 years, lost touch for a few, but have reconnected. Haven't seen her since before my surgery. I will cover my head for the occasion. Her brother is my wonderful hairdresser who shaved me. I started going to him after my hair was ruined by someone else. I called her and said help! And she sent me to him. He just turned 75 but he still does hair a few days a week, he and his wife have a little salon attached to their house, he is an expert colorist and when I was coloring my hair he was so good that the roots blended and you couldn't even tell. Anyway, his sister is coming today. She is the sweetest lady.

Mags, I should copy your weird poster because it suits me.  I hope you enjoy your guest today.

Monis, those kittens know what they are talking about.

Jazzy, I did not sleep well either.  I hope your networking goes well.  I may cancel my lunch out with a friend because I feel yucky.  I think, yesterday, having the high dose flu shot on the day I take Fosamax may have been a mistake.

Hi Cami and Teka and all who are visiting this thread.

Hi hermits- the networking meeting went well. It is a new group of seasoned professionals here in town and going to join through the year end to see if it has value to me. I liked the initial meeting, the people there, etc. I am very specialized in what I do, so sometimes these networking groups don't tend to lead to much work for me. But there were some other consulting firm and IT firms there I may be able to team/collaborate with and that would be a plus. I need some more teaming partners, I have had two I have been working with more recently but the opportunities we have been working on together have not gone anywhere.

Mags- how cool that you have company coming today. People you like, trust and whom have helped you. I hope you have a lovely time together.

Sally- I think I did not sleep well last night because of needing to get up early for this meeting (it started at 7:30 a.m.) I feel okay energy wise but will be home the rest of the day doing more networking/outreach from home and some other things I need to get done with apt changes, etc. I have another professional org meeting/dinner on Thursday night I need to be thinking about too. I hope you feel better and can reschedule with your friend when it works. No sleeping well one or two nights in a row can really mess up our day, eh?

Monis- yes, Mags is right. Hatch, NM is known for the green chili although they grow it all up and down the Rio Grande valley including in farms in the north and south valley here. The crop each year can be different and some chili's are known to be hot, med or mild just like the salsa you might see in the grocery store. I like my green or red chili somewhere in the middle. If you ever come to visit here, the biggest question you will here is "red or green?" Then there is "Christmas" which is a bit of both!

Hope everyone else is doing okay here today.

Hi Hermies! My friend just left, we had a wonderful visit. She brought me a beautiful hatbox full of colorful scarves. Apparently she has been conspiring with DH about this. They are all shades of my favorite color, as is the box.

I have no idea how I ended up visitng this thread but here I am, and the last 10 posts show you are all friendly hermies!   Maybe I will visit more often if there is room for a semi-hermit? One that enjoys solitude  although an extrovert by nature. Sort of like a part-time introvert LoL.

Mags - I absolutely love the gift you received and will copy to send to a friend in the same boat.  Now - 10 months since end of chemo - I finally have hair!  Lots of unrecognizable in color and texture and curls that I do not really like but it is my own hair so I take it. And soon you will too!

    Hugs, Nisa

Nisa- welcome to our thread. And yes, you don't have to be a 100% hermit. I am most certainly not, as I have a consulting business and have to be out and about in the world a lot talking to people or working for them, but enjoy my quiet time too.

This was one of the first threads I found after I got diagnosed as I began going through treatment. Everyone here tries to help each other and we consider our thread a judgement free zone. We talk about everything here from bc related issues, to gardening, to cooking, to travel, and more. We hope you like it here and will stay.

Mags- how nice your friends brought you the scarves! I am a big fan of scarves too, and it sounds like these will be great to help you now and then you can wear them differently in the longer term (i.e., not on your head). That was a sweet thing for your friends to do! It sounds like you had a lovely day.

Jazzy, I ended up going to lunch with my friend.  I napped before meeting her and am curled up in my recliner now.  Hope you sleep well tonight.  It sounds like you have a busy week.

Mags, what a thoughtful gift from your friend ... I love that even the box is in your favorite colors ... you look great in that scarf.

    Welcome NisaVilla.

So my big hospital client here called today and all the folks who do their projects just did a big exodus, so she wants my help. I knew I might go back there eventually, but was not thinking so soon.

However, I think I can probably pick and choose and will only offer to work there and be on site 3 days a week. Allows me to do work for other people too. They pay me very well, but also can be tough to work for. We are working on a date to have dinner next week. Might be a good way to get the cash flow going......

    The world is my oyster!

Teka, yes, the 2014-15 flu vaccine, but I had the larger dose because I had pneumonia in March.  Last year I had the larger dose because of my age but no reaction.

Jazzy, weren't you happy to finish with the hospital?  Might you have more control with a new contract?

Sally- yes I was glad to finish that contract. It was a particularly difficult project dealing with some very hard people who were inexperienced in their roles. My primary client there is good to work for and she is the one asking, but the last gig was for the IT group vs. the business and that was my problem. I won't work through that part of the organization again. Someone in my networking meeting this morning said you need to be sure to only work for people you like and she is the one I like, not the IT group.

I had a chat with my primary client tonight and said I would need to contract directly for her as I used to through the business side vs. IT side just like I used to. She gets that too and seems open to doing that again. We are going to have lunch next Thursday (9/25) and talk about a few options. I think she would be glad to have any help I can give her, the question will be, what do I want to do? More conversations to come!

I need to get my flu shot too.....
