Hi hermits- well the promo went okay and we had a script before hand of our questions but they went "off script" about half way through and that threw me off a bit, but we go the word out. I probably should not quit my day job though
Funniest part of today was the other gal I did it with was wearing the exact same color dress (royal blue). I told her I had done some work in film a few years back (in a friend's documentary), and they always coached us on colors to wear/avoid but there was no info provided for us on that so I did not worry about it. We just cracked up. Turns out she is originally both from CT too like me though, and that was a nice discovery. We hope to see the link with our interview later (I don't like to watch myself though, I am hypercritical of anything I do like this).
Tomorrow is our really big day where we do the panel in front of 100 plus people. I changed my outfit again for the presentation, and now wearing a longer paisley dress that will be a better choice for sitting at a table in front of a large group (don't want to cross my legs and show off the family jewels).
So here is what I am discovering and perhaps is good about doing this right now. I have always been someone who is good at self promotion, love being on camera, etc. but notice I am not quite as confident with "putting myself out there" as I used to be. It is because of all that went on the past few years and that I took myself off the professional radar a lot between late 2012 and last year, with the focus of getting through my healthcare crises, getting back to work, getting through that contract, etc. As a self employed person who is actively looking for new projects, I need to be more comfortable with being out there again and think these events are pushing me out of my hermit comfort zone.
Going to see my personal trainer now. My legs are still sore from Monday.
Teka- I love being outside in the fall. There are apples at the farmers markets here now and love all things apple. Your cake sounds delish.
Cami- how fun you have a party to look forward to. Now start working on the outfit and jewelry you will wear.
Mags- so glad to hear you are doing better with the coffee.
Bippy- I hope you are feeling better from chemo and dehydration.
Monis, Onco, Lili, Dwill, and all the rest, wishing you a good day.
-
Jazzy, you wouldn't risk showing off the family jewels if you'd remember to wear your bloomers like mom always told you to. Just sayin.

My PCP would send a letter and even speak to me on the phone!Drop in at Primo-Doc office!
-
My primary care facility has labs online to look at at my convenience, and the cancer center does if I would sign up for their site but I haven't. In any case, chemo labs are looked at and discussed by MO same day. Sad moos for dear onco.
-
Onco, how rude ... the voice tone on the phone and the general attitude ... I would think that they don't like waiting either.
Teka, yummy sounding recipe. I like Bisquick recipes.
Jazzy, you sound like a very put together lady. Being in business for yourself, facing the public is important, and you seem very comfortable in that role.
Mags, like you, my primary care facility puts test results online. I love it. The site will even organize graphs/charts of multiple results (same test but different dates) so that results can be compared.
-
Onco- my first thought was your lab results are in and they want you to come in to discuss them, which may not be a good sign. However, if there was something truly of concern with the cholesterol or anything else, you would not be waiting 2 weeks for a scheduled apt. If your results are not available on line (they are with many orgs now), I agree with Teka, might be worth stopping by or leaving a note for either your doc or her nurse to call you. Who knows who the snot was that left the message?
I know the docs run the liver enzyme tests periodically to make sure there is nothing changing there. But my MO does that, not my PCP. However, if I remember correctly, your PCP is really the one following you now post treatment as you are not doing the anti- hormone treatment?
Two weeks is a long time to wait and now they have you worried. Call back and find out what you need to know.

Onco- I find when I push on the medical healthcare system for my info and/or second opinions, I usually get results. Our system in the US is not always "patient-centric" which is why people either have to have someone to advocate for them, or they do it themselves if they are able as you most certainly are.
Good job on the LDL drop too. I find changing one thing can make a huge difference in our numbers. Eliminating a food, or exercising more, etc. can make the numbers go down you want them too. Keep it going and congrats on your great results! You go girl!

Onco, I found a happy cow for you. I'm glad you got the info you needed. Pooh at the snotty nurse from the phone. Happy for you!
-
Ocno you are your best advocate, they work for you, my MO knows to call me with results, not waiting.Cammie, parties, parties, parties, so excited for you
Jazzy, thanks for the pix and so happy for you, you met a new friend and saw a movie and did a promp.

*Good Morning Hermits*
-
Good morning hermits- hope everyone is waking up to a nice day! The weather here is supposed to be cooling down this evening and temps go from the highs of the 80s down to the 70s. My favorite weather! I love Sept in NM.
Today is my presentation and it sounds like the luncheon attendance is much lower than expected, but I think there are several reasons for that. However, as I like to say, I did my part and will go do my best to present well, and hopefully it will help me to get some more of that "rust" off my presentation style. I posted my link to friends from the promo yesterday, and everyone thought I did a great job except for one person who is usually a downer.
Cami- I hope lunch out is fun and you are one kinda party girl! Thank you for all the kind words and compliments.
Teka- I am drinking my coffee but think my coffee maker is on the way out and just ordered another one from Kohls on line that should be here next week (and with a 30% off coupon). Must have my morning Joe!
Must go get some things ready for today and will be out of here in a few hours and on to my event. Will let you know how it goes. I am gonna work it!
-
Jazzy, wish I could be there to see and hear you WOW the attendees.

Cami, I reposted the recipe from the *In Season Recipes* thread and give step by step directions for the not so experienced cooks!
Really not that complicated or time consuming!!

His name was Frank Culbertson, and he found out shortly after that his friend Chic Burlingame was the pilot on Flight 77 which crashed into the Pentagon. They were both classmates of my brother, U.S. Naval Academy Class of '71. It's a somber day for Navy folks, as for many if not most Americans.
-
Yes, sadly!

I think we ll remember exactly what we were doing on this day 13 yrs. Ago which seems like yesterday. What horribly tragic day. And I hope no one ever forgets it and how America came together.
Jazzy I hope it all goes well for u and I'm sure it will.
I'm tired, I had a great day with m GFs and just like when we were kids, my GF said (we were having lunch there) u didn 't expect me to make anything I hope. Yea right--But it was so much fun and we all had our coffe just as usual. I got home not to long ago actually we did loose track of time another usual thing. Her DH is out of town so we just kept things going. I put my phone on VM nd now I have to catch up.UGG
I'll check back to see of Jazzy posted.
Mags was that u'r story about the space picture?
-
Cammie how cool is that so happy u went out.
Trying to switch my days n nights so getting off. Bbl
-
Mags- that photo is really something. And just unbelievable the person that took that lost his brother that same day in the same attack. I watched a video someone posted as a tribute to today on FB and it just brought me to tears. Just like that day when I watched it all play out on TV that morning. So much loss and people still struggling on with their lives.
Cami- I am glad you had a fun day today! Sounds like a good day with the GFs. I think there is also a party coming up soon too, yes?
Blondie- I hope you are getting your sleep worked out and are snoozing away. Wishing you sweet dreams!
The panel presentation went really well today. I would say there were 60-65 people there which was a nice sized group. We did our prepared questions and then had time at the end for a few open questions from the audience. Lots of compliments and folks seemed to really like our session. I think the panel all had a good time too, it was a win-win all the way around!

OncoWarrior, yes I am from Stevens Point, WI. I had no idea about the thread. Thanks, I'll check it out.
-
Yes, Cami, that was mine. I didn't know Chic, but the Class of '71 were like brothers (chic & Frank weren't actually related) and the ones I know call me Sis just like my brother does, and just like like they do with Debra Burlingame, Chic's sister. They say Chic was a wonderful guy, always with a great big smile. I hope he didn't suffer, but something tells me he did.
For some reason it just seems to get harder each year, not easier. Maybe because it's not over.
