    Divine - you have a lovely home. It is nice to see it all decked out for the holidays. We have yet to push "go" on our kitchen remodel, but pictures like yours make me want to go ahead with it. Thanks for sharing!

    Hoping 2016 brings us pain free days! Going out for an early dinner tonight then home to watch the festivities or go to sleep .... Whatever! Tomorrow will try to go to an open house to spend time with good friends. Had chemo yesterday so I play everything by ear. Husband and I are going to chincoteague va this weekend. If it is too cold and windy to sit on the beach, I will sit in my warm car and enjoy the sounds and sights. Hope to see the assateague ponies and snow geese. The beach is my favorite place, having grown up in Jacksonville beach, Florida, but that's a little far to go for a weekend. Mostly a weekend of r & r after the business of Christmas.     imageI spent a wonderful day at the Monterey Bay Aquarium yesterday. Both dd's and granddaughter went. I hadn't been there in more years than I can remember. The weather was cool, clear and sunny. Although crowded (school vacation), we had a great time. It was wonderful to see my granddaughter, awestruck and amazed by everything she saw. She particularly loved the jellyfish exhibit. The striped, slightly rounded belly in the background is younger dd, just entering her 6th month of pregnancy 😍

    Planning an early family dinner at our favorite Vietnamese restaurant tonight, and then early to bed as I won't even attempt to stay up until midnight. HAPPY 2016 TO ALL

    Gatorgal - sitting at the beach (even in the car) sounds lovely. Hope you have a wonderful time.

    Caryn - your granddaughter is so beautiful! And I'm with her, the jellyfish at the Monterey Bay Aquarium are my favourite - can stare at them for hours. I've always said if I get to choose what to be reincarnated as, I want to be a seal (or sea lion) at the Monterey Bay Aquarium. They get fed and this huge indoor tank and can also go out into the ocean, which has a shark net so no predators. Sounds perfect to me!

    Shutterbug, we had the kitchen remodeled in 2008, complete gut job and changed the floor plan. It took several months and it just works so much more efficiently now than previously.

    The Christmas Eve gathering here went well, but observing how the crowd mingled, I will do things somewhat differently next year, different seating, different food. I'll be undecorationg this weekend, just leaving out some snowmen decor.

    Caryn, your granddaughter is mesmerized by those jellyfish! So sweet and beautiful.

    What happened to this thread? Whatever, I'm reviving it--at least for a moment--with this post.

    If the weather is good, and my arthritis and allergy meds are working, I find garden work lots of fun. Just now I snipped down two 8+-foot hulks of dried zebra grass that had been tied and staked, and left in the garden for "winter interest." Had a great sense of satisfaction stuffing the stalks into recycling bins.

    I've also begun to keep track of my "steps" and "miles" on my iPhone and every day I attempt to beat my personal best. I won't tell you what that is because it's too embarrassing. When it improves past the laughable, I might join the Fitness thread.

    Sometimes it takes so little...

    Wow, I didn't realize it had gone silent. Good on you for the garden clean up!, Tina!I have a tiny patio, but with the good winter rains, it has gone semi-jungle. I have spring break in April and patio clean up is on my to do list.

    I've been chugging along with very, long days at work, watching my granddaughter, baby shower for younger dd (with baby Miles expected next month), went to see "Wicked" for a third time, wrote a personal story for a book on corsets, and remain NED, after a scan last Saturday. Life goes on, almost normally, and (to quote a song from "Wicked"), I couldn't be happier!

    My DH has been in the hospital for 62 days since December 21. We think he has finally rounded the corner, and he is home for good We are back to normal, if you consider my stage IV bc and his stage III kidney cancer normal. Now we are ready for some FUN!

    This morning I raked out one of my perennial gardens. I was surprised to see how many plants are already popping up through the ground. It is always a exciting to see how many of the plants spread out each spring. It was nice to be out in the fresh air.

    My DH and I are trying to plan some trips. We are definitely returning to Long Island, NY this year since my grandson's team will travel there for a baseball tournament in July. We will have fun at the games, at the beaches, and at the restaurants.

    We were supposed to go to Hawaii earlier this year, but that trip was delayed. We still have to reschedule it. We both look forward to sitting in comfortable lounge chairs under a palm tree overlooking the beautiful clear water at the beach. My blood pressure went down just thinking about it.

    Caryn, it sounds like you keep very busy. How many days until Miles's due date?

    Tina, I was tracking my steps last summer and fall. My bs told me that I should do 10,000 steps a day. I finally figured out that if I walked 3 miles a day in addition to all my normal activities, I surpassed the 10,000 steps. Imagine my disappointment when I lost my tracking device during one of my walks. Haha. I took it as a sign. I enjoy gardening, too. There is something about seeing things grow and bloom that is good for my spirit. Doyou grow flowers, food, or both?

    It's been a busy few months in our household. I have fun activities planned for the future, but for now, dh and I are busy getting odds and ends projects done like trimming the apple trees, clearing out, cleaning and painting a small store room and rounding stuff up and storing it behind the garage to throw out on the big trash pickup week here in town in May. Not sure I classify this as fun, tho it is satisfying to get these things taken care of. Springtime has always been busy for us.

    just got back from a Florida trip with my 11 year old grandson. We spent a few days with my brother and his family and then drove to Sarasota for 3 Orioles spring training games. Fun time and good memories for my grandson! My sister was in Florida at the same time so good time with family, always!

    Gator Gal, that sounds wonderful. We have some big Orioles fans in our family and boy, would they love to go to spring training!

    We don't have children, but we do have a bunch of young nieces and nephews. A five-and three-year-old are coming for lunch and play today and I'm more excited than I should be!

    Now where did I put that sidewalk chalk..?

    GatorGal, it sounds like you had a great time in Florida. It was so nice that you were able to spend that time with your grandson and also visit other family members. One of my sons and his family recently went to Florida, and they went to a Red Sox game in Ft. Myers. My grandson and granddaughter had lots of fun. It didn't hurt that the Red Sox won. David Price, a newly acquired pitcher, handed my 8 year old granddaughter a baseball, and it made her day. She later got a second ball from a ball boy and she gave it to her 12 year old brother, so they both left happy.

    I am sure your grandson will remember your trip in detail. I hope you took lots of pictures. Sometimes it is as much fun to look at the photos as it is to be on the trip. Those pictures can bring back those same warm feelings.

    Yes, I took tons of pictures. I always do. My family laughs at how many pictures I take but the more you take the more likely you are to get a really good one! My grandson was able to get a few autographs from Pittsburgh Pirates and Yankees. He got a practice foul ball from the Red Sox. He is a very happy boy. My husband is taking him to the Orioles opening day game. We only have two tickets so it is husband's turn to go since I had the spring training experience! I will be watching on t.v.

    Sounds like a wonderful time. Baseball, especially with my Yankees, just can't be beat. Your grandson must have been in heaven.

    Hmmmm .... Yankees?? Well, my oldest son is a Yankees fan and I love him anyway so we can still be friends! LOL! The Yankees are an awesome team with awesome fans. Guess that's why we Orioles fans have such a tough time when we play them. Grandson and I did see a Yankees Orioles game in Sarasota (O's won). Thomas didn't want o's autographs because he has some already so only went to the Yankees side. The younger players were very willing to sign autographs. I always appreciate that in the players. The kids don't really care who the players are, just that they are wearing a uniform. Thomas was thrilled to get four Yankees signatures!

    Good luck to all of our teams as I know there are lots of baseball fans on the thread!

    It's almost time for baby Miles to make an appearances! Can't wait to see his picture! I know you are getting more and more excited each passing day!

    Well, you can take the girl out of the Bronx, but you can't take the Bronx out of the girl 😄. Yes, a lifelong Yankees fan is what I will always be. More importantly, baseball is the only sport I truly understand . So glad that your grandson had a wonderful experience.

    Miles' due date is 4/19. Dd is at that point in pregnancy where she sees the finish line and is very ready to cross it. Both sides of the family are so ready to meet the little guy. Frankie is always telling me all of the things she plans to do to help with her baby cousin. Take care

    Thank you shutterbug! Yes, Frankie really seems like a big girl now. One more year of pre-school and then she'll be in kindergarten. She got a bicycle for her birthday and I took her out to ride it yesterday. I tried to teach her to not turn around to talk to someone while riding forward and how to use the foot brakes. I had a major flashback of teaching my own dd's basic bike skills 😅. Baby Miles is due in less than two weeks and we are all getting excited but impatient. I can't wait to have a newborn in my arms again !
