I went on a backcountry split boarding/ski trip with my hubby and another couple. Before I was always afraid of avalanches. Now I think it would be a fun quick way to go compared to this reality. Anyway it was hard work getting to the top of the mountains but oh so fun boarding down.  Loved it.  I could tell my hemoglobin was down and sure enough the nurse who hooked up my chemo Monday morning said it was pretty low.  So I am pretty proud I made it up 2 mountains that way.  Made for a very tired gal Mon and Tues though.  But it was worth it.

Every Wednesday going for dinner at my daughters house with my family. Thank god, we are so lucky my husband and me that we soooo much love our daughters boyfriend ( both 25 years).

He is part of our family, from France and loves living in Montreal. ( Could be my DD living in France.) But both love being with us.

I LOVE gardening and every year about this time I really get the itch, but I have to wait for the weather to cooperate.   A friend of mine gave me a huge 4 x 4 foot double paned window years ago.  I wanted to make a cold frame with it, but never got it out of her shed.  Well, I DID IT!  So proud of myself.  I got that heavy SOB out of the shed, laid in across my garden wagon and hauled it home.

I asked hubby if there was any way to seperate the panes.  He said no.

I asked hubby if there was any way he could weld a hinge onto the metal frame.  He said no.

I discussed other ideas and his answer was always no.

Don't tell me NO.

So this morning I carefully pried the metal frame off the window.  Then I scraped the sticky (tar?) stuff off the pane edges.  There was a thin metal square tubing frame seperating the panes.  I carefully pried the edges enough to get a spackle blade in there and using my rubber mallet seperated the frame from the glass.  Success was sooooooooo close!  Then I got a little ahead of myself and one of the glass panes broke.  OK.  Well, that's not so bad, because I started with "one" pane, and I'll end with one pane, just have to be more careful.  I managed to get the frame off the second paine with no breakage.  But you know what?  That first piece of glass broke on an angle, leaving me with two triangle pieces of glass!  Lemons into lemonade, I can use those pieces for my angled sides!  How lucky is that?  I'm so excited to put it all together this weekend.  I have some salvaged glass blocks I'm going to use for the front,  I'll use cedar to frame in my glass.  Fingers crossed it turns out gorgeous instead of redneck!

Filled the birdfeeders and got out the binoculars. Cheap entertainment!

Also baked a chocolate bundt cake and covered it in chocolate glaze. It is beautiful...no nutritional value whatsoever but that's OK...had a baby kale salad for lunch.

The house smells wonderful.

Hightide, don't you mean "cheep" entertainment? Also, seems to me that the kale salad has more than enough vitamins and nutrients to make up for those the cake lacks.

Oh, I wish I could snap my fingers and know how to bake. But that could be very, very dangerous.

Soooo I am having some Girl Scout Thin Mints as I type this.

You are so cool, I just love ya!  You do what you have to and what you want.  How cool is that?

One bad thing about California is no one seems to throw anything out.  Back home, I found chairs, tables, shelvings, all sorts of stuff in the alleys and often a eureka on the curb on  bulk day.  I love painting furniture and putting it in my garden.  Its a hobby that horrifies my daughters .  However, in  California...nothing!

Then the other day, I found a tall round table in the alley.  You'd think I found a fortune     So happy!  I am painting it and putting ivy around the bottom hoping it will grow up the legs.  Think it will be cool. 

I love gardens.  but they need old painted furniture to really look good, I think.

I LOVE the elephant Soleil. It's too cute. I am going to Hawaii for a week...last week of March. DH and I are going to meet my DS and his partner there. Should be fun just to be with them. Wish I could snorkel but can't wear a wig in the water, obviously, and I am bald as a cue ball. I thought about a bathing cap, but no one ever wears them and I don't want to look crazy. Or at least not TOO crazy...lol.

Oh it was a pretty day today. Finally made it to 60 and should be 70 on monday. Picked gs Jordan up from daycare and took him to micky-ds for an early dinner. That child sure can eat. Brought him back to my house where he called his Pop sneaky because he ate the last chocolate pop-tart...what a kid...

Oh Judy, go snorkeling! Who cares if you don't have hair that can get wet and messed up. It is so beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing to snorkel in Hawaii. You deserve it!

They probably would sell Chele's window in a retro vintage shop for 100 bucks...500 now that she's turned it into a cool rehab hot house! Your table sounds like it will be ubber cute when it gets it's vines, Soleil!! Oh Judy! I'm so excited for you going to Hawalii!!!! I've never been there, but I've never heard of one bad trip from there. A friend of mine is going next week and I'm so jealous. Enoy! Why am I sitting here now craving chocolate bundt cakes, thin mints, and poptarts??? I'd better go to bed instead. ZZZZZ

I wish you all lived close enough to drop in for cake and coffee...and thin mints. They are addictive. You can eat them straight from the freezer; no need to waste time thawing.

Chele, I have a sister who lives in Wamego, KS and a niece who lives in Hutchinson. My sister grows gorgeous roses. Apparently they love that Kansas heat.

This spring I seem to be growing birds. They are all 'twitter-pated'. Even had two beautiful hawks mating.

I love this thread too. It was an interesting and relaxing evening reading all the entries. The variety of talents is amazing but it is the sincere friendships and caring that is so impressive.

This is definitely the place to come to lift your spirits - and share some chocolate. I had no idea there were chocolate poptarts. What a bit of genius that is!

Not sure if that worked cause im not sure on the photo stuff.  But by all means Judy..just go bald if you're warm enough and comfortable enough with it.  Tried to send a picture of the turban bathing cap I bought and will ressurect again soon for my Florida trip.  First snorkeling experience I had was one of the most awesome things I've ever done.  It was like swimming in a fish bowl of clear water along with the fish.  You dont want to miss it!  They have new styles now..not like the old white chin strap ones I was picturing when i started shopping for one.  I'm pretty sure that one came from headcoverings.com.

So it did work. Thanks. Actually it's a suit with shorts over it. That was our family "make a wish foundation" cruise 2011..sponsored by my acclerated death benefit! . Been feeling so crappy the last few months..I feel a little bit of life coming back today...going to try to move about the house at least..vacuum etc. today the house..tomorrow the town..and hopefully by the 25th I'll have the energy for Florida since I already booked it!

Oh Jill, I so know how you feel. Saw my onc. yesrerday, gave me the go ahead to go to Fla. next week if tumor markers are good. Theyre doing a rush job and will know by monday. But I have been so tired dont feel like doing the drive, so am now looking for cheap airline tickets. My sister used to work for delta and has some connections around here and there, so maybe. Half the fun to me was going to be the drive so am a little dissappointed.Onc. did give me 2 weeks off if tests are good so that will help. and I cant wait to get to where its warm.
