I bought a $5 wig from Walmart, always thought I'd look cute in a blue wig  :)  Great Halloween fun, thought I'd' share a picture of my cute little grandkids.  Boo to all of you!

Kathy, leave it to you to beam out a ray of sunshine to us on a gray and rainy, hurricane-y morning. You're all just as cute as can be!

Thank you!  It was an awsome day.  First time I ever wore a wig.   Best thing is my grandaughter said something about an old grandma.  I told her, yes I am an old grandma and she said.....Not you!  You're not an old grandma!  My other grandma is.

Facepaint and wig can hide alot of flaws  :)

    Soleil,

She sees that your soul isn't old. Very astute child. And the wig is a ton of fun!

One thing this cancer diagnosis has done to me is, for some reason, I now put serious emphasis on fun. I try to find something fun to do with the kids most weekends. Last weekend, we went to Zoo Boo, rode kiddie rides, went trick or treating, and went on a hayride. This weekend, we went to a Harvest Carnival and Chili Cooking Contest. And Thanksgiving week, we are taking my parents to Nashville for the Ice Experience at the Gaylord. I find myself constantly looking for fun things to do. I just want to do everything that I can with my kids while I still feel well.

    Thank you .....

Lana Graves....fun is good medicine, if you ask me.  I live alone.  Sometimes, I get into a lying around sick mode. Then my family comes over and we have some fun, the next day, I am off the couch for awhile.

Now, I know fun can't cure anybody but it helps me.

Nashville is one of my favorite places.  I love going to music row and thinking....Keith Urban may have sat in this very seat once!  What is the ice experience.

Just now read this thread, North and South.....OMGoodness, I fell in love with Patrick too, Soleil.  Wish I had the DVD.  My fun is spending time with my grands, in fact I think I will have them this weekend.  6 y/o granddaughter and 14 m/o grandson.  I also have a very special great neice that stays with me during the day.  I love nature walks and walking through my flower garden. Love to go wildflower picking.

He was one beautiful man, wasnt he?  I watched that scene again last night.  After I wrote about it, I had to look at it again.  Still good!

Enjoy your grandkids.  They surely do make the world a happier place.

Today I am shopping and preparing for a dinner party tomorrow night. Though dinner party indicates lots of people, in fact, there will be only four of us. I know what the main course and dessert will be. Still working on a starter. Can't decide between a squash soup or stuffed mushrooms.

The friend invited is in Boston in preparation for a big surgery on Friday. Want to make something special. This is my idea of fun!

We went to a Halloween Goblin Egg Hunt in the dark last night, then on to a "Zombie Nation vs. Walking Dead" Haunted Forest put on by the University Theatre Dept. last night. Tonight we are going to the University's Fall Carnival and Trick or Treating the residential halls. I've made it my mission to pack as much fun into every day as possible!

soleil - I think fun is absolutely the best medicine for me. We laugh, we joke, we don't sweat the small stuff anymore. I love Nashville too. I have the trip packed with things - Dreamworks ICE Experience, Radio City Music Spectacular with the Rockettes, Lorrie Morgan's Enchanted Christmas Dinner & Show, General Jackson Christmas Comedy Cruise, and, of course, breakfast with Shrek! I'm so excited to be taking my parents. They have never been on a real vacation before.

Thanks Jill. They are better. Still alot of swelling in the right one, but that may be because I won't sit still and let it heal. I'm definitely sticking with more comfortable shoes from now on. I don't think I ever told you what happened after we got separated at the airport. My flight got cancelled and I wound up having to stay another night. They put me up at the Crowne Plaza though, so I couldn't complain too much :) I think that may actually be when I hurt my feet. I ran all the way to my terminal because the plane was supposed to be loading, but when I got there, the plane wasn't even there yet. Lol.

Oh wow! No..you didn't tell me that. Last I knew your plane was supposed to be arriving in ten minutes and I thought to myself I'll be leaving before you...had no idea I left the day before!

Lana,  I agree with you.  Fun certainly helps.  I've never missed a plane, what a drag.  At least the Crown Plaza is one beautiful hotel.   !

Enjoy Nashville, sounds like you have quite the itinerary.

Susan, when you write about cooking, I always imagine you in a huge kitchen with an island and the pots hanging above.  Bet the food was delicious.  When I come to your house you will have to make me stuffed mushrooms.  HmmFoot in Mouth  Here's a better idea!  When Jill comes to visit me in Cali, we'll fly you out to chef for us.

As long as I can put my knives under the plane, I am willing and able to travel.

My kitchen is not one of those lovely magazine-type kitchens at all, but it does have the basics. The room is perhaps 10x8, maybe a tad smaller with 3 huge windows and four doorways. A rather akward space. No upper cabinets at all and the lower cabinets have exactly four tiny drawers. Almost impossible to believe how little cabinetry is involved. We have set up two butcher block workspaces in front of two of the windows, and yes, there is an island. I have my most used pots hanging from rails over the stove and sink. The fridge is in the entryway from the back yard. But you know, I have two large pantries, and a good stove [great ebay purchase!] and somehow, every single night we manage to eat a meal.

This room is the only one that gave me pause before we purchased the house.

I love to visit Boston. I was born there and lived there until I was eighteen, so it is in my roots. The Freedom Trail is so cool...I just love that. Such a nice compact walkable city for tourists too. Just have to hit a bearable weather time.

It's been a great day to cuddle up on the sofa with a good book & warm dogs (throw on another dog, it's still a bit chilly!) while watching the stormy sky & rain on the window panes.

A rare night in. No soccer games, no activities, no errands. So, fun tonight is curled up in the recliner with my snuggie, my laptop, and a mug of spiced cider.

    Hey Lana,

I'm sipping cider too!  Its the diet variety, not luxury but it does the job.  I'm watching the CMAs waiting for my crush, Keith Urban.  He better hurry up, not sure how much longer I can stay awake.

Finally made it home from Boston. Had a wonderful time and lucky to be staying with friends considering my return flight home was delayed 2 days because of the storm. Susan, thanks for your kind offer!! Would love to have had one of your meals!! Will have my grandson this weekend which is always wonderful and next week getting ready for Ireland! Seems like income home to do laundry and pay bills! No oncologist til Nov. 28th. Yeah for chemo breaks!! I LOVE Nashville, too!!

    Glenna,

Seems like a small thing. Especially since you didn't take me up on it! Glad to hear that you made it home safely. Under the circumstances, two days doesn't seem like a very long time. This storm really did some signifigant damage to so much of the Northeast coast.
