Praying for quick recovery Cookie!

Kindergarten, I'm scheduled for the 29th.
Thinking about you CookieMonster, hope your resting comfortably at home. -
Thanks all. I'm back home and ensconsed on the couch. They ended up needing to do general although the plan was twilight. I can tell because there was definitely a tube in my throat as evidenced by the super sore throat. Oh well. Good thing I already planned to take tomorrow off of work.
Good luck with your surgery, tenaj.
Sending healing thoughts your way too Rocket.
-
Hi, CookieMonster!!! Thank you for checking in, and so glad you have a long weekend to heal and rest!!!!
-
Rest up this weekend CookieMonster. Treat yourself to some sorbet or ice cream, that will make your throat feel better :-)
I'm going away this weekend to meet some future relatives, I will do my best to eat healthy. -
Travel safely and have fun this weekend, tenaj. We grabbed lunch yesterday after the surgery and all I wanted was a milkshake - and it's what I got. Good decision too.
-
Have fun, Tenaj!! Eat healthy, but eat fun, too!!! Have a safe trip !!! Rocket, so good to see you!!!! Keep on feeling better!!!!CookieMonster, milkshakes are my favorite!! They are dairy and healthy, right!!!!!Hope you continue to feel better. Have a great weekend everyone!!! Lots of walking today, and hopefully healthier eating!!! We are walking to the movie theater to see Zero Dark Thirty. PS- Miss you ATeamNana!!!!!!

Hi ladies. Just popped in tonight. I am back to work. It's been busy trying to catch up. Trying hard to get back to exercise and eating better. Not doing very well with that. I have been trying to read and catch up on here. Glad everyone is doing well. Tenaj. Good luck with your surgery. Rocket n CookieMonster hoping you are recovering well. Kathy glad you got good bone scan. The cold weather here has my neuropathy really stirred up. My feet so numb and my toes are like ice cubes. I am trying chiropractor now. He says he can stimulate the nerves for relief. We will see. I've only had one treatment. I go again tomorrow. I have only been to a chiropractor once before many years ago. Well I'm off to bed. Take care everyone.
-
ATeamNana!! It is so good to see you here today!! I am sorry to hear about your neuropathy, but glad you are getting treatment!! It is a brand new year, so we can all help each other get back on track!!! Hope your neuropathy gets better!!
-
Good morning ladies. I'm very happy to hear from you ATeamNana. Very sorry to hear about your neuropathy. It's very important to keep your extremities warm all the time. Warm socks & elevating them when you're sitting helps too (even wrap them in a blanket)
We had a safe trip & as always it feels good to be home. I did pretty well eating, (except for the carrot cake I made) drinking was my problem. I had champagne & several mixed drinks each night. So....when I went on the scale this morning I was up 2 lbs :-(
I hope it is temporary ....I am off to work & am bringing a protein bar for lunch with lots of water. I hope to not be too tired to do the treadmill later.... Have a great day!! -
Hi Ladies,
I'm doing much better with my eating. Exercise is very limited because of my foot surgery. I fell off my knee scooter yesterday and put weight on my non-weight bearing foot. I also twisted my knee during the fall. I am doing better this morning however after a painful night. Today the swelling is down some on my foot so I'm hopeful. The knee however is very painful. I'm babying it and behaving myself today. Thanks for thinking of me. I hope you all are doing well and that we can all get back to our healthy eating and exercise. Have a lovely day Ladies! -
Oh Rocket so sorry to hear that. Take care. I am trying to stay warm. Healthy eating everyone:) I did eat better today. Thanks for the encouragement.
-
Good morning my friends! It was a better day on the scale, I guess it was some fluid retention. I didn't make it on the treadmill last night, I hope to today after work. Not to sound like excuses, but..... By the time I finish my paperwork when I get home & eat dinner it's about 7:30. Not much ambition to get exercising. Gotta work on that.
Thinking of you fine ladies & hope your feeling well. Rocket I hope your foot/knee is feeling better. ATeamNana I hope your staying warm & pain free. CookieMonster, I hope you are recuperating comfortably at home. Kindergarten, you are an inspiration to me. Enjoy your day all! -
Hi Ladies,
Food is currently not my friend, can't seem to stay on track, will work on it again today. It's also a walk day for me so that should be good for me regardless of the food.
I'm feeling much better-almost back to normal in my recovery. I'll see the PS on Friday.
Rocket, take care of that foot and knee, I hope you continue to recover and sorry to hear about the tweak, sounds painful.
ATeam, tenaj, Kinder - HI!!
-
I'm behaving myself today, although I'm struggling with feeling housebound. I have eaten well today, except for my fried egg on homemade toast. I had a nice, big red leaf salad with fresh pineapple, dried cranberries, clementine slices, and a few crunchy rice noodles on top. I used red apple balsamic vinegar to flavor it, leaving out the oil. It was delicious! I also had my green tea and one little piece of dark chocolate. Tonight's dinner is split pea soup (tons of fiber). I do better on my eating if I have a plan in place for each day. Tomorrow I'm going to try a bean and kale soup. I'll let you know how it turns out.
Have a great day Ladies! -
Good morning, wonderful Ladies!! I am feeling bloated and have gained weight. I have got the exercise down pat, but healthy eating has been lax!! I am in need of motivation, inspiration and ideas!! Thanks all for being here, coming to this thread helps alot !!!! How do I control my appetite???? Aromasin is not helping!!! Love ya all!!!! Kathy
-
Good morning! I just got off the treadmill, it feels good to exercise now. Not such a chore anymore. I just wish I had the motivation on the days that I work. Good news is that I have lost a bit of weight. I would like to loose 2 more lbs before my surgery on the 29th. My goal was 5 lbs right after Christmas.
Kindergarten, hang in there. Eating around the holidays is so difficult. It seems that once you start eating some of the unhealthy ( yet delicious) food, your appetite increases. From what I remember of the 17 day diet, (which worked by the way, thanks!)you need to break a bit of that hunger cycle. Drink plenty of water & then some more!! Lots of green tea. For breakfast I had a 1 egg omelet with fresh spinach & 1 piece of toast. I have given up the OJ for now & just had water. Remeber to drink lots of water. The medicine does have an effect on our metabolism but we need it so we have to do what we can to combat that. Stay strong & positive. I too love the inspiration I get from this thread. Have a great day
-
Thank you, Thank you, Tenaj!!!! Yes, more water, more green tea and more resolve on my part!!! You just gave me the inspiration I need. I am going to ride my bike to the dentist and eat healthy!!! Thanks, Hon!!!!
-
I haven't made my bean and kale soup yet because we ate out for lunch today. Tomorrow I'm going to cook the kale with chicken broth, navy beans, fresh plum tomatoes, onion, and garlic. Soup is a great way to lose weight and feel full longer. We eat lots of soup and salad. Hang in there Kathy! You have all inspired me to eat healthier too!
-
I make a cabbage/vegetable soup that has helped me loose weight last year. I froze some & had it for lunch today. When I feel like being super healthy I use ground pork in it, but I prefer to make it with crumbled sausage. I put onion, endives, broccoli (I save the stems & use them), spinach, tomato, red pepper & of course cabbage. It's quite healthy because I use herbox so there is no extra salt. Eating soup this time of year is so satisfying. Of course I love bisque & cream of broccoli, but I'm staying away from them for now.
-
Oh, my, the soups sound wonderful!!! Recipes please!!!!
-
http://allrecipes.com/recipe/bean-soup-with-kale/detail.aspx?scale=8&ismetric=0. The link is the recipe for the bean and kale soup. It was fabulous! We'll definitely try it again. It would also be wonderful with fresh spinach. Tastes similar to Olive Garden's minestrone soup. I also baked some fresh kale today with freshly grated Parmesan cheese on top. Oh so good.
-
Thank you, Rocket!!!!
-
Kathy, I am so not a big written recipe person. I tend to wing it a lot...LOL. First I brown either the ground pork or sausage & remove from large pot. Saute a large onion till soft than add the liquid, about 6 cups of no salt broth.( I use 3 packages of no salt herb ox beef or chicken) Then just start adding any veggies you like and the meat, cook until soft. I also add about 1 cup of a tomato sauce, (left over or a small can- it helps to give a nice color & taste. I save the brocoli stems & use them, spinach ( I add that when its almost done) cabbage (you can even use the package precut), 2-3 endives, red pepper, couple of tomato's. I have even added cauliflower & zucchini. You could put what ever veggies you likeThe bulk of the veggies is the cabbage. Depending on the size of the cabbage 1/2 to a whole one. Cover with enough water in get a nice slow boil going, It takes about 45 min to cook.
-
Good news this AM on the scale. I am almost at my pre-surgery goal. I have 0.4 lbs to go in 11 days. I just got off the treadmill & feel so much better these days, I am even able to run for a bit, something I couldn't do very well 5 years ago. I guess a 12 lb weight loss, better eating & less drinking is the factor. Certainly not that I am older and on new meds now. After my surery I will set a new goal of about 10 lbs before my son's wedding. I am going to treat myself to a few goodies while I recouperate, I'll just have to keep it in check. I am thinking about a bowl of icecream & some sesame chicken from the chinese restaurant! LOL
Have a great weekend ladies! Stay motivated!! and warm
-
Hi, Tenaj, thank you, thank you for the recipe!!!! Winging it is the sign of a great cook!!! Can't wait to make it!! I am doing the happy dance for you!!! You are doing such a great job with your nutrition and exercise!!! I am pretty competitive, so I am going to get on your bandwagon, he,he,he!!!!!! I will be at a women's retreat right before your surgery, so there will be many of us praying for you!!! Here is my goal for the weekend: no wheat, no dairy, except yogurt, no sugar, no processed foods, and no alcohol!!! Lots of walking and doing the elyptical!!!!and Water!!! Lotsa of Love to everyone, here!!! Hi, CookieMonster, AteamNana, and Rocket!!! There have been many other lovely women that have posted here, I just can't remember all there names!!! PlantLover started this thread, miss her!! I remember Jaytee, Blessings, Snobird! Blessings to you all!!!
-
Tenaj you are very inspiring with your weight loss! Congratulations. You will look fabulous for the wedding!
Kathy, I wish I was as disciplined as you are. I have been pretty good on the eating, but with my Frankenfoot I am not able to exercise much. I just can't wait until it heals so I can get back to walking. I need the weight bearing exercise desperately so I can stave off the osteoporosis and need for medication. UGH! -
Oh, Rocket, thank you for your kind comment, but I am so undisciplined, that is my problem, no will power!! I love to walk, but I love to eat more!!! As soon as you can walk and exercise again, you will do great, because you eat so healthy. That is so important!! You all give me the motivation and inspiration to do better. And now, that I am a grandma, I need to be healthy for Lily!!! Your Frankenfoot(you are too funny), will heal and normalcy will return!! In the meantime, rest, heal and come here for fun and friendship. Hugs, Kathy
-
Well I have been focusing on eating five or more fruits or veggies per day. I eat thawed frozen berries, frozen grapes, apples, pineapple, and assorted veggies, lettuce and kale. Eating all that stuff keeps me from snacking so much. I do however LOVE homemade mac and cheese. I rarely make it, but boy do I crave it! It's my go to comfort food. Candy is my other vice. I LOVE gummy candy. AACK, all this talk is making me crave it more. Sorry guys, okay apples are yummy aren't they?
-
Thanks for the support. I've spent the day cooking so far. I made a big pot of beef stew & pot of fagioli (lunch for tomorrow) I don't eat very much red meat anymore but I couldn't resist. I got a big Le Creuset pot for Christmas & wanted to make a stew in it. Of course I bought a Costco size pack of meat so now I can freeze some. I'm making healthy whole wheat egg noodles with it. In the past I would make some sort of dumplings. Mmmmmm
Rocket, I love my candy too. M&M's & chocolate covered acai berries are my favorite but I tend to be not too picky...lol I hope your foot is feeling better very soon. What type of procedure was it? If I'm being nosey, I apologize.
Kindergarten, being healthy for loved ones is a great motivation. How is that darling?? I appreciate any prayer coming my, thanks :-) (((hugs)))
