INSOMNIACS place to talk in the wee hours

Sass, thanks for the insight.... Carol has 3 Sons and a Daughter... but she has not spoken to her Daughter in maybe 40 years... I don't know the whole story, and when we DID talk about it, she seemed to not know what had happened.... why, after all this time, they have not spoken...... And I'm not pushing it....
I DID ask her x-DIL if she has heard from Lynn, or if she even knows about her Mom... She just quietly said "no".... She has had contact with her Grand-daughter, but not recently... It's her x-DiL that cares about her.... and her one Son.... The rest of her family is just not concerned I guess.... I wake up every night, thinking about her, and what a sorrowful life she has.... I guess it doesn't bother her, because she doesn't seem to think about the past, or the future. Just what is going on "now".....
She used to watch TV every minute, or have music playing all day.... that's when she wasn't volunteering at the Hospital, the Museum, or REI.. or endlessly cleaning her house, working in the garden, or washing windows....... Or on one of her round the world cruises, train-rides or group trips.....Or even taking off in her huge motor-home..... or going to special dinners and plays with her Fiance' or her Son.... She HAS had a beautiful full life.... but in an instant it ended..... and life goes on.............

Chevy, Don't take who you should send it too literally. I thought you said a daughter was there. Give the info to whomever is with her. When families around the patient have info that they can use. It helps. It helps in so many ways. They feel less helpless. They feel like they can do something. They won't feel like everything is out of control.
Thanks for posting that from Siobhan. Not sure I've ever read anything that was more insightful about cancer.
-
Chevy, would you , please, post Siobhan's article on Pinktober. Thanks
-
Beautiful Chevy! I wish that could get picked up by all the national news and social media outlets.
-
Chevy- that is one really good article. I think it should go to the Moderators too. There needs to be a different awareness created around this instead of "buy this, a portion goes to charity, you should feel good about yourself now." Thank you for sharing that. One of the best articles I have read.
Speaking of cancer (and we always do), I took a friend out today who has Stage IV brain cancer. Went for a ride in the convertible and had breakfast at one of the best places in town. My friend was not feeling that great (maintenance chemo every other week) and was not sure he would eat much, but saw him polish off a huge breakfast with eggs, sausage, hash browns and pancakes! It was good to see him eat a good meal and we had a nice time. Helping cancer brothers and sisters is the thing I am doing now to make a difference.
Oh and here is my breakfast, huevos con queso which is a spin on eggs Benedict with a yummy queso cheese sauce instead of hollandaise sauce. It is a total gastronomic delight!
Now I am sleepy.......
-
OH Jazzy, that looks good. Anything with a good sauce is my total downfall. At 21 y/o, my MIL got me into eating cauliflower and broccoli b/c she made the nicest cheese sauce. Found out I loved C&B. Never touched it before that...... Sounds like a lovely day with your friend. Such a good idea the way you are doing it. I know after Greg died, I was so lonesome. WE had been so isolated b/c of immunity issues for two years, getting out and being social was nirvahna

Scuttler: I may make a copy, put on the fridge, and play bingo for one week. If I get a "Bingo", hubby takes me to dinner. If I get a "full card", I get a full spa treatment. Then all those idiots would be wondering why I jump up and down and scream happily at their stupid and asinine remarks. :-). !!!!!
-
Sassy- OMG is that good. I have to share that in a few places. And I heard all of those at one point or another.
My favorite during treatment was "oh you are tired all the time, you must be depressed." No I am in cancer treatment, you get fatigued from the treatments they give you.
My favorite now is "you are all done with that now, right?" Define "done with", please?
-
Jazzy, it was a OMD moment this morning. I linked to the page so you can read how Scuttlers is going to use it. Quite good in a "make a positive out of a negative" way. Chit. The stupid stuff people say. My reaction ranges on the spectrum from--do I take time to educate them or walk away. If they're was room in the topic box it certainly would be in somewhere. Can't think which of my threads I could put it in. I reposted it on Stupid Comments. That's perfect for it. AhHah---maybe I can fit it in in the STEAM ROOM for ANGER.

Chevy, I got Siobhan's article C&P'd to Pinktober. Thanks again for posting it. I'm sitting shaking my head. The clueless stupid people, I wonder will they understand it?
-
Sassy- love it. I think most people are just clueless and don't know what to say, but others are definitely more judgmental about the whole thing. The ones I felt were not kind to me about things , perhaps sometimes out of their own fear, went bye bye through time. I don't miss those people either. The ones who were trying to understand were worth explaining to and just want to know how to help and support. As you know, sometime it is all in the "tone" of things. I learned so quickly who could get on board or not.
And OMG, everyone's cancer stories, I STILL get that from some people. Every time they hear a co-worker, person at church, or someone else they hardly know. They go on and on about it and I often wonder "are they expecting me to offer something, comfort them, what?" I usually just let them have their diatribe and say I hope the person gets through treatment successfully and has a successful recovery and long life. I have told many "it is unfortunate that cancer is everywhere these days." Then I change the subject.
-
Jazzy, you are right it's the tone. I'm so happy the Mods didn't ban me. Technically, by TOS, I just spammed it all over the place. I got banned once for a month b/c of trying to send something good around. There is still a chance that I could be banned. If I disappear, I'll call Spookie to let ya'll know.
Off to dinner..............YAY out to dinner............
Chevy, I had a little fun stuff, that will make dinner even better heheheheheh
-
Jazzy take a look back I just added Scuttlers comment about how she was going to use the card. It's a hoot.
-
Happy birthday Rossy !!!!!
Spooky lol Christmas shopping ha ha ha i actually did some already
hope this xtmas is better than the last one for all of us here
love all your pictures ladies
this tread is so amazing!!!!!
-
Before cancer, I had no idea what to say so I said little. After cancer, I still don't know what to say. We are all so different in what we find funny, what brings us comfort and so on. I have Bunco at my house this month so I'm giving a BC lesson. I still have my photos so if one of those biatches pops off up goes a pic. I'm sorta hoping that happens!
-
Hmmmm I still can sign in YAY, being banned is no fun
Hi Enerva --glad to see you check in around tues for page number. Getting close to a 1000. We are slowing down. Which is expected. Gawd, couldn't keep that pace up forever. But we will turn page 1000 somewhere in the week.
Mema, let us know what happens, seems you might be expecting something b/c of the biatch term.?
-
The lunar eclipse out here is spectacular. Pics in progress, stay tuned!
-
Just too cloudy here to see much of anything. Parts of the metroplex are fine. Watching 3 different live feeds. Hoping maybe moon will just top clouds as eclipse finishes
-
This one is not mine, but from someone here in my city. Dang!
-
can't believe it, I missed it chit.. thought about it several x's today pooper. guess I have to live till 2033
jazzy is that a live feed.?
lmg are those feeds local only?
-
Sassy, that was from a post here called Inhabitants of Burque. People posting like crazy tonight.
Nasa has a live feed. Go to nasa.gov
Here is my best shot
-
I have been watching the moon since moon rise time. It starts getting out of the shadow now. Beautiful !! Tonight is also the Chinese Moon festival ( similar to Thanksgiving ) so it has special meaning to me. My iPhone camera just not good enough to catch the beauty.
-
Hi Eeyore, so nice, so nice and extra meaning is always nice. Moon festival on a blood red moon night. Hmmm how many times has this occurred on the same night. Did it happen in 1982. If it didn't happen in 1982. Then is this really rare in Chinese history? This is visible on this side of the world. When has it been visible in china. Are we getting into even more rare time. Fascinating. And I miss it. pooper.
Jazzy/lmg the Nasa.gov site told me times. I caught a bit of it coming out of eclipse. It's just not red. it's white. It' 40% up. So,the moon will be full tomorrow--but not a blood red--right? The nasa.gov site has oodles of cool info.
-
Just downloaded all my raw data from my DNA test from Ancestry.com My PCP awaits but I can't remember what to pull up. I'm gonna zip the whole file....
-
Chevy, do you think it would be all right to post the message on my FB page? I could leave her name off and just say it's from some else. Any thoughts from anyone?
Shows over, I'll post some pics tomorrow. Nighty night all
-
Didn't see the eclipse, was in bed early. Although I did wake up briefly about 10 my time and there wasn't much light from the moon shining in through the blinds.
-
-
Good morning ladies. Hard to believe it is already the end of September already. Where did the time go?
The eclipse last night was really awesome. I kept going out to look at it until it was almost done (after 10 p.m. here). I see the bright moon shining over the western horizon this morning. She is still doing her super moon thing!
One last pic from down by the river looking towards the mountains where we waited for the moon to come up over the Sandia's. Beautiful sunset and evening last night at the open space center, where there was also a free jazz concert going on. Lots of songs about the moon! Blue Moon, Moon River, East of the Sun and West of the Moon, etc!
-
Jazzy, is that White Sands? Do you have anymore pics?
Chevy good one. Google may be taking over the world, but they are giving us such nice things. What would life be without YouTube
Did you store the video of the little girl seeing rain for the first time?
Morning----------dragging up 3;30, 5;30 6:30, 7;15.......UGH
Have a nice day
-
You too!! Must be the super moon effect. I am exhausted now and have to work today ;( Grateful I have a job though. Good morning everyone.
