Susan. - yea ! Welcome back. You have been missed and asked about many times. Super glad to "see" you. Glad you switched tx. Hope this new one is gentler and more effective.

Hi/1. Tea sounds great. Giggles sounds excellent ! Sorry about your shoulder issues.

SAS. The great awesome SAS. What would we do without your knowledge ? So currently taking morphine sulfate er 2am and 2 pm, gabapinton -1 am, noon and pm and hydromorphone for breakthru pain 1-2 every 4 hours. Yes I take them consistently. Really don't like the mo idea of increasing any of them. They knock me out. Seeing me sleep all the time isn't good for ds's and dh or me ! Gotta be a better solution. Seen pain mngmt dr several times - their suggestion is pain pump inserted. Mo disagrees since they only deal with them in Memphis which is a good hour away. Every hospital visit , every refill , every checkup a long car ride. Heck ridin to the end of my road is very painful. I've had two rfa's, like 7 kyphos and a lot of nerve injections. Each time believing this one would be the miracle pain cure. Not! Grr.

Thanks for the encouragement y'all. So very needed. Not sure if I need a hand up with a Kleenex available or a kick in the rear. Maybe both.

    Hootie hoo

May or may not see some snow today. Not a whole heck of a lot but it will make the ground white if we get some.

Hi Susan! Good to see you and glad you are feeling better :)

patty-I'm so sorry you are struggling, try not to beat yourself up about your boys seeing you a certain way. They love you and you love them...that is all that matters. ((hugs))

So glad it is Friday! Yesterday was hell at work, busy busy busy! Flights canceled, delayed....thanks to winter.

My parents gave us a car yesterday and last night our truck died. We've been down to one vehicle for a few months now and I was so excited to have a car...now this. Dh thinks he knows what is wrong, but I'm mad at him because he should have taken care of it before this happened. Dh has been really moody the last week or so and I'm over that too. Sometimes I wish I was single.

    There I said it...whew!

Wow Mommy 3 inches is more than just a "white ground" amount.

Tang - does your DH suffer from seasonal affective disorder (SAD)? I've been extraordinarily bi***y these last few days. I think because of no sun. When we do have a bit I try to stand in it. If he works inside early/late he's probably not seeing the sun at all except on the weekends and even then it's not been good. My DH does the same leaves things until they don't work, not so much with the cars but with stuff around the house. I hate to be a nag, but it does come down to that. I think most of us wish we could be single for at least periods of time. Have you considered a run away girls weekend out?

Patty I would think maybe transitioning to a patch would be just as effective as a pain pump and a whole heck of a lot less maintenance. Maybe your MO could even dispense it. Think about a Fentanyl patch. Do remember you have to be on a significant morphine and breakthru dose to transition but don't remember the amount. I have seen at one hospice the MSER dosed 3 times a day at a lower dose. Not the usual but that's the way they did it. The contract pharmacy - a very large hospice supplier only - did not balk at this even though I was taught every 12 hours like you're taking it.

Susan - just lovely to hear from you. (((HUGS)))

Sassy and Spookie- I looked up the Columbia and it looks super! I'll meet you there soon as I know what all they will do. Right now I have a 10 alarm headache that is just crushing. ugh.. rarely get these, but when I do they flatten me. It must be a front moving in, woke up with it. I hope when I am at the clinic I can get them to do a MRI of my left knee... it's been giving me grief since summer- enough! I love to look at snow but hate shoveling it!

Susan, yeah you're back. Hope the new chemo is better. Hang in there girl.

Hope everyone has a good or better day. Cold here, only 46. See california isn't always warm and sunny! high, thick fog and grey.

I know it's relative. A friend is coming next week from Omaha, it's 1 degree there with wind chill -23. OMD, I'd die a frozen popicle. We're going to Monterey next week where it's suppose to be in the 70s.

Goats, and please note NOBODY is at that beach cause it's too darn cold. Water temp at Clearwater is 54.

Rose, do you have fibro? I do, am extremely weather sensitive. Everything tightens up, aches, and sometimes the headache.

LMG-the seasonal thing makes sense...I think I have that issue as well. The fixing things is everything girl, house stuff, car stuff....etc. He's up there now "looking" at it, probably won't have done today though. I love him but he makes me crazy sometimes!! I would love a girls get away, that is something to think about. :)

Sas- on the Paris/Charlie thing...it's horrific and disgusting. I hope you are right in your assessment and that the world stand up to this crap once and for all!

    ((hugs))

Tang..... I know..... We ALL get that way sometimes..... If it ain't one thing, it's another.... just any thing to drive us crazy.

Our DD in Orlando gave my Husband one of those "lights"..... for people who may feel depressed from the Winter.... Well, I figure you have to USE it before it would do any good. So I know it is supposed to "help".... but it doesn't help bad-moods any. MAYbe if he would have been forced to use it when he was 18, constantly throughout his life, well MAYBE. But men are just men.... Like my Brother always said.... "What is? Is."

SOMEtimes things are so sweet and peaceful around here.... and it's easy to always be happy, but sometimes other's bad moods just grind on you. We love them, even though they drive us crazy....

But don't you just look at him sometimes, like when his hair is sticking up, and he looks so silly? And your heart just melts....! He's yours, and that makes it all worthwhile.

Lunch with SANGRIA! You GO girls! Yes, that was the best.... I'll always remember that.... I don't remember what we ate, just the presentation of the Sangia! It reminded me of one time in Puerto Rico.... at this Restaurant.... And I had heard about "Mexican Coffee!" Well they bring it to you and add stuff, and then light it on fire....! Damndest thing I ever saw! And it was sooooooooo good!

It was cold an icy here again today..... DH slipped on the ice right out back.... Man, it's hard to miss.... but he fell on his knee and came hobbling into the house.... I haven't even left the house....!

    Supposed to be nicer today....

So glad they finally caught and shot those terrorists.... I don't think that kind of trouble will ever end.... Too many extremists in the world now.... Crazy people will always be with us..... Yes Tang.... It IS horrific!

That was your yard Smarty? And you still have GREEN! Beautiful yard!

Called that 18 different pharmacies trying to get my pain meds and nobody has themor they're telling me they don't have it because they were afraid people are going to be coming in there are stealing or robbing   them

hang in there everybody today it's about 32 its been it was 9 yesterday and I believe it was seven the day before.

Blondie- if you sign up for hospice they ALWAYS had the scripts needed and would deliver in a locked box! That's what they did for my Dad and it was impressive. They controlled his pain totally. You can always flunk out of hospice and they deliver - you stay put warm and toasty and not out of breath. I would suggest that route, forget the local pharmacy. Hugs to you!

You know I thought to add that I mention this for your convenience, not because you will check out in 6 months. No one can tell how long they have, but fighting about getting what you need out of commercially available resources when you have major pain relief needs - hard road.

    Morning gals!

Enerva, I was going to ASK how do you guys DO it, where it is always so cold?

I live in an old neighborhood here in West Highlands... (used to be called North Denver, but over the years this area has become "uppity" and now we are known as "West Highlands"... Ha!)

So anyway, this is an older part of Denver, with older underground pipes, etc. so sometimes everything OVER here freezes up solid! We have to let the water drip in the bathroom, AND kitchen sink...

A few times the washer would not work, because the pipes, being on the North side, were frozen.

This only happens when it gets down to 15-20 below, and STAYS there. This year we have been lucky..... Only about 11 below at the coldest.

Our house was built in 1886.... And we love it! It is being surrounded by 2-3 story fancy-dancy flat-topped doubles with "solarium's and "birds-nests" on the top! They are beautiful inside, but built with minimal yards. Guess no-one wants to grow stuff anymore. Other than pot....

    Peppermint! You doin' okay?

And Blondie... what are you trying to get? I know they are so strict about giving us anything anymore, because there are too many thugs roaming around, trying to buy it off the street! Can you ask your Doc for samples? Or to HELP you get it? I mean HE wrote the prescription!

And I don't think the cold weather helps you either!

Can one of the pharmacies order it for you? I would raise hell. Seriously.

Okay, YES! And you guys KNOW, that none of us know when we will not be around anymore.

I think we can get home Hospice, where they can be your advocate, and help you get help? Or maybe even call an AARP office? How old are you? Are you over 55? I'm not either, but...........

We just don't ever plan for it, and we shouldn't. We can think about it, and do things that have to be done, but we have to try and go on, like we will have a million tomorrows!

I just remembered.... My dink SIL had moved her Mom to a Hospice place.. Because it was cheaper than the nursing home....

Well get THIS! They kicked her out, because she was there for over 1 1/2 years! She just kept kicking, and kicking, and they moved her back to a nursing home!

So we just take care of each day...... Like when DH came in whining because he fell on his knee....

OH FOR GODS SAKES GET A GRIP! IT AIN'T BROKE, DAMNIT! Okay, no I didn't say that... but sometimes we just have to think it...

And my hip looked at him and said "what a baby".....

    good morning ladies.

First , an apology. Been in such a funk. Shouldn't have brought it here. So feeling happier today. So come what will. I am still alive and able to feed, bath myself. Can still walk - albeit like to the bathroom and back- I'll take it. Got my big girl panties on - yes they are warmer - and some boxing gloves / really hard to type with. Bout ready to start kicking some cancer arse. Again sorry. It is supposed to be a happy place right ?

Smarty. - very funny. Cold in Ca only 46. I would be in my shorts at 46. Course my thick hairy legs might stand up straight. Not shaving Til spring this year. Forget it.

Chevy. / of course spouses drive us crazy sometimes. Don't matter who we lived with sometimes they just rub us wrong. Hope your dhs knee is fine. But your right - big ole babies most of then are.

    Enerva - stay warm !

2nd / hey dear friend. Thinking of you.

Rosevalley - love your idea for Blondie , sounds much easier.

Blondie - oh now I read mo says not sick enough. Ugh. Way to cold to run all over town getting in and out. I know you have a transportation issue. Crazy new rules for pain meds. I slways get mine at sams club. They know me by name and face. They always tell me if they have it in stock of will order ASAP for next day delivery. Can't mo nurse call and check for you? Have heard nurses at mos office doing it for a lot of people for the same reason.

Susan - I've had more fractures and just dang cancer eaten away so much spine. Grr. But very very glad your back ! You are so sweet

    Hi1 / SAS. - hey ladies.

Sorry to anyone I missed. Hope all had a great warm , pain free day.

    Hottie hoo

Patty, NO apologies needed, EVER....we are friends, need to be able to be honest. Coming here, saved me. I felt like I needed to be tough around my family. I would come here, and spill my guts. Sas, Chevy, Cami, 2nd, & the entire crew got me through it.

My new thrifting find ( thanks Sas....new obsession ) is a toy, musical Greek bouzouki. It works, need to find out the name of the tune. Someone imageis selling one on eBay for $129.00. No bids. I bought mine for $10.00

Just what I need, ay??? More stuff....lol...also Pier One had there xmas stuff for 75% off. Got a few fun things for the house, that are not Xmas looking.

    Hello to all.....

Blondie- they really need to get a grip with cancer patients especially stage 4. There are enough of us that there should be an exception and relief. I realize that the onc offices don't want to get in the business of delivering pain meds, then another workable solution needs to be put forth. Maybe everyone going through pain management services; although not sure how that would play out in rural or small towns that don't have pain management doctors. Perhaps having local hospitals handle narcotics for cancer patients if local pharmacies and chains refuse to stock and deliver. Any other ideas out there? It surely does appear to be a nationwide issue. Different ideas from all over hashed out or maybe a campaign directed at our congress.. ugh.. might help? Blondie you might start a thread on it, asking 18 pharmacies and coming up empty handed is outrageous.

Pattie- you sound better! Glad for you. Summer is coming and warmth for your poor bones! Hope things continue to improve- HUGS!

Spookie- I know the headaches are caused/made worse by weather pressure systems, but PCP says no. Ugh. Wrong. I have never been told I have fibromyalgia. But half the crap on my "problem list" is new news to me! The things that drive me nuts are not even listed! I wouldn't even recognize myself from the problem list on "my chart" how odd is that? No point in complaining because it falls on deaf ears.

Rose, Your PCP is wrong about weather not causing headaches. I saw a client weekly who would get a headache before it was going to rain. She was right every time.
