lost my post!
HIO, good news. Try not to do too much, much easier said than done.
LA got rain yesterday. Blessings and 2nd, did you see any?
Everyone have a good Sunday. Got to go exercise a bit. I don't think trying on about 2 doz jeans counts!
-
Yahoooo....we got rain, finally
)
Good morning everyone...happy watermelon day.
Enerva, love the owl you made. Every time I see anything owl I think of all of you gals.
Blessings, great news on the normal MRI.
Smaarty, I think trying on all those jeans burned lots of calories. You really look great.
I hope everyone has a nice day.
-
-
Enerva, I'm going to try making those owls because I think they would make great Christmas tree ornaments. DS's family always cuts down a tree in the forest and has nature-based ornaments.
I think some of us are losing posts because we're hitting back to top instead of submit. I've done it I know.
-
need to catch up, till I do, Little Goats, this is for you:
-
omg those little goats are adorable lol
Yes the owls could be great for xtmas
-
well went to the party and didn't like the music, so no dancing, chair or not, they wanted me to but I said when I like the song I will, lol Susan glad you chair danced....it was so nice to go out, but that was 2 days in a row, so today, didn't get up until 230 but didn't go to bed until 3. the pulmonary dr. told me i could take clonadine, so I am..it is working....have a good night, big brother coming on...

Went to a cancer support group this afternoon at church. My third time there and I'm enjoying it. It's a mix of different types of cancer, but there are some BC'ers in there. I met a younger woman and she told me about a local support group for women dx with BC at 40 or younger. I'm going to check that out too.Hope ya'll are having a good weekend. I don't think we have many pics of the party lol. Bad bad I know.
-
that's ok Tang, next year or your birthday.
-
Is there reason to worry about an itchy mole that came up??? Doesn't always itch.
-
So happy MRI looked good, hopefully things will start to improve for you. Stress alone can really effect the memory, so maybe with that worry off the table, things will be looking up.Stephanie

hi ladies!
I usually have 2 tabs open on the iPad (or Mac) and toggle between the two so I don't forget anything. Starting Friday, when I went back to the "writing" tab, everything would be gone. Sucks! Happened a couple times. Too frustrated to get back to it.
Tang, it was nice to read about Izzy's party, sounds like you pulled it off! Too bad you didn't get photos but sounds like it was so much fun and were just in the moment. Better that way than so boring you had too much time for photos.
Chevy, so agree with "So memories aren't what's important... It's what is going on NOW....".
Smaarty, so awesome for you! You've put in so much work glad it's paying off. And if truth be told, I'm envious! Yes, we got a bit of rain here.
Hi1, sending you strength to help with your DH. How's he doing, more importantly, how are you? Glad to hear he's now, must be a bit easier for you?
PattyP, aw, thanks, just so very busy lately. I miss the games too and playing them with you in the dark hours. Seem to be getting more sleep lately.
Enerva, the macrame owl is cute! Your niece is on to something.
Badger, would love to see irises when they bloom, so pretty.
Sassy, way cool about DS's GF, sounds like a winner! Must be important if he wants you to meet her (or see her again in this case).
Blondie, glad you got out even if you didn't dance. Nice be out with people in at a fun event.
Jwoo, working on it.....
Cami, if you're not double-screening,you're awesome! I can't remember anything, you do so well! Just curious, how old was Joey in your avatar?
Susan, hoping you had a wonderful with your DD! Soaking up all the fun times!
Blessings, good news about the MRI! Hoping you're continuing to take it easy! Just to clarify, that means doing as docs say, no physical activities (no housework, yard work, cleaning out others' homes). Your brain needs a rest, so quiet activities for you, missy.
Dutchie, the scooter ride sounds fun! Price of lemonade is going up, I remember it was 25 cents.
To catch up: ran a bunch of errands yesterday: Salvation Army to buy some golf clubs (putting green where Dad lives, brother and his son coming down from Northern Cali on Tuesday, need to keep the 9-yr from being board), local farmers market, stop at the local animal shelter to leave a bunch of old towels (and check out the dogs and cats), pet store for cat litter (check out the animals), Wally World for golf balls, then spent several hours in the library researching family history for Mom's photo/memory book (had phone off so I missed an invite to have dinner with the girls). Big party behind us and one house over, loud rock and roll music, headache causing loud. After about half an hour, ended abruptly, too early for a break, turns out it was raining! Thanks for the rain. I don't think we got much.
Paws, did you get much rain? Was thinking of you last night because I heard fireworks going off nearby (big no-no as dry as it is). Almost called the police but they stopped. If you have an open area near you (meaning very dry), do you call the police (to prevent fire spread)?
While at Wally World got a call from Dad that on his visit to see Mom yesterday, when he arrived Mom was sitting in the hall with no shoes or socks, shirt on backwards and inside out, no bra. That wasn't so bad, but she had a black eye. They said it happened right after he left on a Friday, she fell down. What really bugged him was that they were supposed to call to inform him of such problems but they never did.
Got a great night sleep (the new pills to stop hot flashes seems to be making them much worse), difficult to get moving. Forced myself to go on a very long walk - instead of walking around the block several times, set off for DD's elementary school - over a mile away! Halfway there, thought I was crazy, especially how humid it was. Glad I did it.
Was talking on the phone with a friend this afternoon, had to go outside because DH was listening in (I think he's paranoid I talk about him). Saw this wasp nest and silly me had to knock it down. Yup, got stung on the bridge of my nose. No stinger but big time hurt. After Internet search, put a baking soda paste on (too close to my eyes for caladryl), took anti-hist and Tylenol, fell asleep all afternoon (would wake up, look at the clock, and wake up a while later). Probably with all the other stuff I'm taking it just knocked me out. Now I can't sleep. Hoping I don't lose this long post.
For everyone else I didn't call out by name, thinking of you and sending good thoughts and hugs your way.
Edited to add:to prevent losing post, would copy what I had written so it wouldn't go poof. Must have worked.
-
For all my Insomniac friends:
-
Oh Man! Did you see that? I mean 2222222nd that was
amazing!Such an informative post....And well written, and naming
everyone? AND you didn't lose it before you posted it. That is what's
important.... Ha!That reminds me so much of my Grandma, when she was going
through what your Mom is.... The putting on 2 dresses, etc... she didn't hurt
herself, but I think she tried to smack all the other ladies with her cane! The
Helpers told me that... While they were eating she would just hit their
legs... but when I said it would probably be best if she didn't DO that, she
didn't have a clue what I was talking about.....I forgot, she is in AL right? Or in a nursing home? A
nursing home usually takes care of them a little better,
I thought..... At least when it comes to daily care...I loved that video ! So I found another
one!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4rFVtEVA-o&feature=share&app=desktop
I laughed so hard I woke DH up, so he went in the other
room to sleep.... crab!Morning Tang, Smarty & Nettie...
Nettie, don't worry about nothin' else, unless it gets as
big as a Volkswagon and hampers your daily chores...Just watch it, and report any changes to
us....My skin gets so many things, it is just a daily occurrence
now.... best if left ignored. -
I saw this on another thread, and thought it was hysterical! I just TRIED to log into my B&N account yesterday, to download Nook on my computer, and I was having fits trying to find my PW!
-
Good Morning OWLIES! Great Weekend
Blondie 's wheelchair dancing, Chevy's finding goats, Cami's partying back to back, 2tttttttttttt ctrl z to recover whatever's been wiped out.
DS's tight with his girl, I'm up but a nap is looking good. Dutchy chocked on sexing chicks LOL--it was like WHAT? Yup, Chevy a stack of passwords, 3rdT???JWOOOOOOOooo,Susan........
DBF home need to work on legal stuff BBL.
-
good morning all
2 ND time thanks, your post helps me catching up with the rest. Sending hugs to your dad, he is right they should have called him about her fall. When they start falling it's when things can go wrong.
-
Chevy, that password thing is hilarious!! I love it!! I have to write down all my passwords, there is no way I can remember, but for simple stuff, I mostly use the same one, but other sites, that force you to change every few months drive me nuts! How the hell am I supposed to remember it when they keep making me change it??
Had a pretty decent weekend!! Today is my birthday - but my parents cooked for me yesterday and had the family over, but the another good thing is that the meal was awesome and since I eat lunch every week day at my parents, I get to have a repeat today!!
We shall see how the rest of the day plays out! Kind of wondering if DH will be an arse today or if he will try to be decent! We shall see!!
Update on back issues - this gets more and more confusing to me! Now only have pain when in certain positions for too long and still if I try to push my shoulder's back! One thing I'm thankful for is that it does NOT keep me from sleeping, however, it may wake me a little if I move the wrong way in my sleep, but as soon as I settle, I'm right back to sleep! I just wish I could tell the difference between bone pain and muscle pain! I feel like a crazy person when I say that!
Wishing everyone a happy monday!
-
Oh my 2nd, that's terrible about your mom and I hope you can trust the staff to be truthful!! It just sucks!! The only experience I've had with having someone in a home was my precious SIL (actually she was more like a daughter to me - long story), but anyway, in the late stages of her cancer (glioblastoma) we had no choice but to put her in a nursing home! Her mother, thankfully, was able to stay with her alot! The home tried to tell us that wasn't allowed, but she did it anyway! I know this is not an option for most, we were just very fortunate and my hubby went by several times a day and he always changed the schedule so they never knew when he was coming that way they couldn't plan for his visits and make things "look" good!! Even still, there were several times we found her laying in a "dirty" bed!! It's just so sad, but I've said it a million times, the people on staff that have to do the hardest work are the most underpaid most of the time!! That's why I think, at least here in Louisiana, that's why things can get left unkept or undone! We had one very nice "aide" and my husband saw to it that she got a "tip" for caring!!! We never had to worry when she was on duty!!Anyway, I'm rambling, just wanted to say how sorry I am about your mom!!
-
Nettie,
-
Happy birthday Nettie! Next up is Enerva.
-
oh is neittie s birthday? Happy birthday
-
Happy Birthday Nettie.
2nd, I really don't like the news about your mom. They should have called. Ask to see the report because they must write up accident report about any accidents such as falls. I'm really sorry to hear about this and about your wasp sting. I got a good amount of rain...those people with fireworks are really crazy and can catch the hills on fire. We don't have our local police stationed nearby, so when police are called it can take up to 2 hours for them to get here unless they're in the area patrolling already. But we all ( me and neighbors) still call.
I hope everyone has a nice day. Hugs
-
Oh I thought I was here this morning and talked to 2nnnd--WTF was I?
222nd I'm sorry about u'r mom, I hate when I hear this, I realize there are accidents, but that not how it should be handles at all. Anyone who has had or have parents in a home, it's a heart wrenching feel. We also used to visit anytime and bring gifts to the staff, and of course tips and my sister knew the Dr. that came every week and that all helped out ALOT. But it is still difficult.

Hey 3rd time - everything all right - well as all right as this disease can be? Always worry when someone posts then deletes quickly. Messed up pictures I understand when they don't post. Let us know. Thinking about you.
2TA - saw some pics of the mudslides in CA. Y'all can't win. I know I mentioned it but prob. not recently. DH was raised after about 3rd-4th grade in Chatsworth. I forget they lived somewhere else for a while but that is where they eventually settled and bought a house. Graduated Chatworth HS. Not sure why DH moved with them to Ft. Worth when FIL got diff. job. DH wanted to be a film producer. Has a degree in that. He did know a ton of people in the business out there so seems strange to me but not to him. Ended up in advertising.
Thanks for the cute video. Those goats esp. the black/white ones look just like mine. Those are Nigerian Dwarf goats. But I don't think I've ever had one that "jumpy". I have one leaper now, she's always on top of the hay feeder. Babies learn quickly they can eat in peace up there. Don't know why this 4 year old likes it. I see that puppy pen in video. Betcha that little one gets out of that pronto.
I'm surprised with the dry situation in CA you can even buy fireworks. One year they did even cancel sales here. County has to give so much notice to do that for the retailers. I drove up the road that runs along beside mine not too long ago. Found on a graveled gas well entrance the remains of quite a firework show. We are quite green right now so no problems with grassfires. I know with your hillsides it could be difficult to locate. We are a tiny bit hilly but would have no problem isolating who is doing it. I know sheriffs' deputies stretched thin. One dumb reason I don't have a security system. By the time they responded burglars would be long gone. I did report a skunk under shed sev. years ago. Sent deputy who attempted to flush it out; confirmed my susp. it was prob. rabid. DD sat in backyard until it came out (on other side of chain link and not that close). She chased it into creek with DH's pistol. Never saw it again. Did see a possum near that spot just the other night. Neighbor has seen the feral baby hogs again though not so baby-ish anymore.
Owie wasp sting. I stocked up on Benadryl after my last one - all I had was ones I give the dog - ewww. My big red blotch finally went away, on my non BC wrist. One of my nurse friends pointed out might have been yellow jacket - guess they are nastier. Just know we have lots of red wasps around.
Yes, they should certainly have called your dad. Hope you chewed them out sweetly. The clothes on that way - not surprising in itself but shows not much supervision if she was able to do that much to them. Oh Pawprint is right about seeing the incident report. I would bet somewhere on there it has a "notified family" checkbox. It might take your dad getting in since he is next of kin. Depends on how sticky they are about rules. Being new there they probably will be and probably should be.
HI1 - Good grief. You and your DH have been thru the wringer. Glad he's home and hope both to you are resting up.
Chevy - I get the same frustration with passwords. Within about 1 week I signed up for online portal for my PCP and my MO. Would they use the same passwords- NOOO! One of them (of course the 2nd one I signed up for) wouldn't use special characters - so they are similar but not really. Last winter I wrote down all the passwords we have since I thought we might have to evac. for a grassfire. The dumbest thing I've done recently is somewhere is a yellow legal pad (could be a white one I have tons of partly used ones from work - ones I bought) with all the phone # from my old phone. Ones that I never used. Well last night I needed one and I can't find that legal pad. It's here somewhere piled up.
Smaarty - size 14 jeans. Only in my dreams unless they are verrry spandexy. Or very old and well worn out. I think trying on jeans counts as exercise, leg lifts, bend and stretch.
Sassy - my DM always got up early. She liked the house quiet b4 my stepdad got up. She worked on her bookkeeping for their business. Then about 10 she went back to bed, no couch napping, for at least an hour.
Nettie - if the site will let you do this and you feel safe enough in site safeguards you can use succession of numbers, for example and a very bad one (I occasionally read articles about strong passwords) - first time use Password1, then Password2, Password3 and on and on. That's what I used to do at the hospital until it forced me to change to something completely different. I think DH says his cannot repeat any letter or digit in the same place it was. I would go nuts with that and I think he has to change his monthly.
Nettie - so true about the "good" aides. And I always complimented them esp. if they went out of their way to do something not so much in their job description. I could tell the status of a NH by the staff turnover rate. And newness of facility means little. One of the best I was ever in was old concrete block construction. But the Dir. of Nurses ran a very tight ship - nice lady but knew her stuff. They were budget conscious for sure. One of the nurses had been there 20+ years and not because she could not have gone somewhere else.
Happy Birthday Nettie.
-
Oh Cami - Ur Funny.
-
good morning ladies.
Chevy - love the password thing.
SAS - glad all is going well with ds and dsgf
Nettie - happy birthday ! My wish for you is NO pain. What did your family cook for you ? How very sweet of them.
Hio - hows your dh today ?
2nd. Great update in everyone. Thanks. Loved the "me too". That's why I come here. Sorry to hear about your mom. That had to be upsetting for you and your dad. Black eye with no call does seem distressing. May have to get one of those nanny cams.
Blondie / hello. Hope your breathing is better.
Hello to all those i missed. All is well here still no pain but very nauseated. If nausea is caused by major decrease in pain meds, does anyone know how long that will last ? Gotta get motivated for back to school shopping for my 2 ds soon. School starts in 2 weeks here. My youngest is very picky about clothes - mr joe cool. He will take all day and want to hit every store in town before he makes up his mind. My oldest ds is simply easy to please. He wouldn't care if I picked out his clothes. Funny how they can be raised exactly the same but be so different. Hope y'all have a great day.
Hootie hoo

Happy Birthday Nettie!
I think sometimes the unchanged bed is because of short staffing. It takes 2 people to avoid injury. One of the highest injury rates for any job is nursing home aide. And the injury is usually to the back caused by someone trying to do it by themselves.
My 2nd grandson was always picky about his clothes. His usual garb now is out of The Great Gatsby. He has awesome luck in thrift stores. Think Harris tweed jacket in perfect condition.
We went to visit friends who had goats. Before we were stopped they were all over the car hood and roof. Dented them too.

Netti! HAPPY BIRTHDAY! You'rs is the same day as my Brother's....! We are 4 days apart.... but I am much lovlier and smarter!
Actually he is quite talented! Been a drummer all his life, and still going strong! I have to call him in a bit~ Little turd!
You guys, I was just wondering.... If you buy into that Long Term Care, I KNOW if doesn't start paying until you are in a nursing home for 90 days. Does it pay anything if you go to Assisted Living?
I looked into that once, but it seemed like a LOT of money per month, and if you don't have to GO to a nursing home, all that money is lost, right? I mean if you pay for years and years, and then kick the bucket.... it is just gone.... Is that right? At least that's how it used to be.
So My friend is paying $3000 a month! She is 90, but going strong.... Her family is going to rent their home, because it would be better, they think, instead of selling it!
Her DH who will be 94 this month is not in as good a shape, but doing okay.... His "rent" is taken care of with his Pension, his Military, and his SS..... But STILL, $3000 is a lot of money per month!
