Nettie, Baby raccoons are a lot of work and need special care and need the company of other racoons. Here is a link that explains how to find a wildlife rehabilitator.
http://www.nwrawildlife.org/content/finding-rehabilitator
Best of luck for the little one.
-
tang, check this out with your RO, Boiron Calendula gel, 1.5 oz, my friend's RO recommended this for every treatment she and her husband had. Each RO is different with what they ok.
FFB, sorry to hear, just one step at a time. Hoping for the best.

Morning gals....... My DD just sent me this.... wouldn't it be a miracle? Probably so far away to even think about it, but at least it's a new beginning!
http://www.npr.org/blogs/health/2014/06/18/3232430...
Thinking of you Little BB...
You doing alright today? What's next for you now...? Don't forget, we are all here wondering how you are.
I don't think I have anything new to talk about... and CAMMI must be awfully busy with her what-ever-it-is-that-she-does.....
Neighbor News is as follows: She left a message.... I listened to it, and then went shopping..... Called her when I got home, and she said she needed to go to the Doctor's, but decided NOT to, since it is way the hell and back... So her DIL bought her some Meclazine, for dizziness, took it over, but she called ME to ask how to take it, because she didn't belive her DIL........ ho-hum.... I know.....
She has macular degeneration, and REALLY can't see, without her binocular eye-glasses, only even THEY didn't help. So I read her the directions from MY bottle, and told her just to take the whole bottle just to make sure they worked.
Haven't heard from her this morning..............................
Did you believe that? Hah! I told her to take one THEN, and one every morning before she gets up, and before she picks up that phone and calls the world to tell them she is dizzy.
I will walk up this morning, with my coffee, and just sit & talk to her..... for about 1/2 hour...... DH doesn't want to go..... Neither do I, but I feel like I should, until they get her butt moved to the Home.
Okay.... I PROMISE I will quit talking about my neighbor SOON!

Good Morning everyone, I'm sorry I haven't been around much--I'm having a hard time keeping up.
FBB we're all pulling for you and praying for you.
My DD1 is coming over today and we're going to do a few things, she's on vacation this week so that's nice for me.
I had so much paperwork to fill out to prove I have no money, but I'm done so that gets mailed today plus I added some of my own thoughts, and they did say they wouldn't take anymore money from my SS until this is all figured out so we'll see, BTW the Pres. Of the US does not like--I've been a thorn in his side for a while and he's just trying to get rid of me. Well I'm not sure but I know that I've been pronounded unbalanced and can not fly--but that was either the Pres. or the Gov--I get things mixed up.
And I've been busy with work al A/C now and generators and I'm goofin' up a little I have to concentrate more, sometimes I really can't, I know it's simple but I feel tired or my D. I'm wiped out--and I know it too. BlahWell u all know I hope u all have some decent times today.
-
Cammi, have you been hanging around with Phylliwiththeanklemonitor? I'm sure you have! It's the GOVERNMENT that takes your taxes... I don't think the President does.... yet.... Ha! Don't send them NOTHIN'... let them come and get whatever it is they think you have... which is not much, from the sound of things!
Could you actually end up in Prison with HER and big Alice? Oh well.... you could party! We could all come visit, and bake saws in the cakes we bring you!
They say you are "unbalanced?" Damn people anyway! THEY have a lot of room to talk! We could just show THEM a thing or 2 or maybe even 4!
No don't concentrate.... It uses up our brain-cells, and we need all we can get... or hang onto.
-
Cammi, I'm waiting for you at the tire place.... Remember... we are going to get balanced!

Morning owls!

Thanks for the tips, however, I’m trying everything! I also already contacted the wildlife
rehabilitators in my area and no one will take it!! I got a “pet nurser” but it doesn’t “latch”
on very well to it! I think it is
getting something though because it is “going”!
I’m doing the best I can! I even
let it nurse on one of my mama cats, but I had to hold her down, the minute I
let go, she ran off! I’m not sure how
many days old it is, but I think it must have been with the mama at least a day
or two! We left it hoping the mama would
return for it, there were 3 and two disappeared but this one never did! So we don’t know if the mama got them or
something else! And I don’t know if I was just lucky or if I have tough
skin, but I had NO trouble at all with my rads!
And THE only thing I was allowed to use was baby cornstarch, and I was
told to use it in abundance! So much so
that on check up day, the rad nurses would poor it on because they said the RO
would fuss if he didn’t think I was using it!
But as always, check with your on RO as they all have their own way!Sorry the above is formatted funny, I'm not in the mood to fix it! Wishing everyone a happy Wednesday!!! It is Wednesday, right??????

Thank you everyone for all the good wishes and prayers. I'm still in shock and will keep you updated the best I can. Thank you for all the bird pictures. It brings me strength knowing you are all pulling for me.
Chevy, I couldn't get the link to NPR to work, but loved the photo.
Nettie, not to scare you but raising raccoons is very dangerous and best left to a rehabber. In many states it is illegal and you put your own pets at risk and if you have a kennel it's a big concern. As a veterinary nurse who has done wildlife rehabbing, I had to have rabies vaccinations and raccoons carry a parasite in their feces that even I wouldn't want to raise orphaned raccoons. You must worm them immediately and often, and burn their feces and cage trash. Even the cages at rehab centers must be flamed since the parasite is not killed by disinfectant. Here is a link to raising raccoon kits if you feel you still want to do it. Good luck! They sure are cute little buggers. orphaned raccoons
-
FBB more hugs. Tell us if we can do anymore. Rads I'm pretty clueless on. That is pretty icky about rabies and parasite in raccoons. I now know to steer clear.Chevy, we may joke about freedom of speech and me not talking about being beanned or banned. BUT never talk about anything and government with any words.
-
Nettie, Here is a link to a site that explains how to take care of a baby raccoon. http://www.arcforwildlife.com/raccoons.htm I used to volunteer at a wildlife center and this site is accurate. It describes what to feed the baby. Baby raccoons cannot tell when they are full and will keep eating until they have trouble breathing. It's best to feed them and if they are still hungry, wait until they cry and feed them again. They get really loud when they are hungry. If the baby gets away into some area he shouldn't be, lure him out with miniature marshmallows. Make a trail to the open, throw a towel over him and move him back to his cage. Raccoons will follow marshmallow trails anywhere.
Flush the stool down the toilet and wash your hands with bleach, soap and water after handling the feces. Worm the baby as described in the link. You will need to worm the baby twice. As I remember, we wormed two weeks apart and then sent a stool sample to a vet to be checked. The parasite is truly serious although cases of human infection are rare but they do happen.
Don't worry about imprinting. The baby will form a bond with you but in my experience, raccoons are always suspicious of strangers.
Raccoons are very energetic and curious. They make terrible pets. They are tricky to rehab, take a lot of effort to prepare for release and are a major commitment. Call around to veterinarians and see if they know of any "unofficial" rehabbers with experience with raccoons.

FiercestBlueBird..... You are amazing... We all are with you in thought & spirit.. Tell DH we are sending positive wishes to your family.....

NITTIE, lol try to get her # and email so you can ask about him later on.
) it will be so nice for you to have an update on his journey
-
Nettie as cut as it might be I'm glad it's leaving raccoons are wild animals and don't domesticate and their just not cut out to be what u want in no time.
Chevy just wait til I get there so we can be balanced, now don't leave.
(((FBB))) I just want to surround u with hugs and love.
-
Nettie,
You certainly did the right thing in rescuing the baby and turning it over to a rehabber. Your compassion does you credit.
-
For FBB and the rest of you ladies!
-
Glad to see you check-in FBB((hugs) to everyone! I'm having a hard time with some stuff. I hate BC, I hate it! I don't want to complain anymore details when I see FBB and others going thru worse. I'll be around, just quiet maybe for awhile. Anyone heard from Ziggy?
kisses and hugs
-
Oh Tang don't feel that way, I mean if u just want to take a break that's fine, but if u want to talk and share, that's why we're here so don't let that stop u.
That was cute 44444. U come up with such clever ones.
It's quiet here tonite, I don't know if that's good or not..
I'm so glad my kids are back and I'm settled back in my room and Joey's here, I really didn't miss them that much but I did miss Joey. And our dog who never left my side and wouldn't let Katie by me has totally ignored me--That's a male for u.
-
Blessings - take really good care of yourself, and from what Sas says, it seems like it would be a REALLY REALLY GOOD idea to get an MRI!!Patty - I'm in Washington, but only tried pot once in my youth - I didn't think much of it then, and hear it's much stronger now. My drug of choice is wine.
FBB - I am SO terribly sorry to hear of your progression. Please know that we are all thinking wonderfully good thoughts for you.
-
hi owls, I'm caught up enough send gentle ((hugs))
Patty, good luck with RFA.
Blessings, SO glad you saw the great doc.
FBB, praying for you and your family.
Love to all. ♥

Cami - How's your son in law doing?
Fiercely One - I had bluebirds in my backyard today. We've never had this many around. Sure a few out front but I've never seen them in my tiny backyard. I do have 3 large water buckets out just beyond in the goat yard. I think lots of birds come to visit those even though I live on a creek.
Tang - sorry you're feeling so down. Ziggy hasn't been on since mid June. Don't know if Sassy has phone # for her.
-
I was thinking about Ziggy the other day, Is she on vacation, I hope, I bet Sas will know.
My SIL is on steroids and Norco right now but he's much better. Thanks for asking.
-
on vacation and just checked it. Had to reach out and give a hug to the fierce one. Hey FBB, sorry to hear about your test results. We r all here for you. And I am sure We wish we could be there with you, and take care of you and be of support to hubby. But from a distance, this is about the best bunch of ladies you could have . We have your back and your pockets...let us know what else we need to do for you....sending love and prayers.

Good Morning owl u wonderful ladies. This is a quiet thread in the middle of the night but zooming all day long, kind of funny.
I hope everyone has a decent day and had a good nites rest, I slept pretty OK. I've been dreaming about my best friend when I was little a couple of times a week for about a month now. Even tho we went to different schools we did everything together, she lived across the street. But when she went to HS cuz she was a yr. older than me and became a cheerleader and was in the popular crowd we drifted apart. But my dreams are constant and different so I feel in my heart something is going on with her, I tried finding her on facebook once but her name is so common and I really thought I did one time, but I didn't. It just makes me wonder- I really don't think about her during the day but dreams are always there. As u must know by now I believe in connections in our lives strangely and something is or has happened to her. Oh well, I wish I knew. Crazy me.
Last nite Joey and I watch TV together and watched some cat videos on u-tube and we laughed a lot and hugged a lot--so I had a good evening with him , as usual. and not a lot of pain this week. So that's good for me. Mybe I'm growing out of it or I've learned to ignore it better, either way that's good with me.
My Katie-Kat and I slept nicely together last night --that silly dog never came near me all night. His loyalty to his really loved ones was proven with such happiness to see them.
Geez it's Friday Eve already week few by again. Well just wanted to start my day and say Hey to all my owllys and I'll BBL.

Mouse balls and mouse ball inspector
I don't know how they wrote this with a straight face. This was an actual memo sent out by IBM to its employees in all seriousness. It went to all field engineers about a computer peripheral problem. The author of this memo was quite genuine. The engineers rolled on the floor! Especially note the last couple of sentences.
> "If a mouse fails to operate or should it perform erratically, it may need a ball replacement. Mouse balls are now available as FRU (Field Replacement Units). Because of the delicate nature of this procedure, a replacement of mouse balls should only be attempted by properly trained personnel. Before proceeding, determine the type of mouse balls by examining the underside of the mouse. Domestic balls will be larger and harder than foreign balls. Ball removal procedures differ depending upon the manufacturer of the mouse. Foreign balls can be replaced using the pop off method. Domestic balls are replaced by using the twist off method. Mouse balls are not usually static sensitive. However, excessive handling can result in sudden discharge.
> "Upon completion of ball replacement, the mouse may be used immediately. It is recommended that each person have a pair of spare balls for maintaining optimum customer satisfaction. Any customer missing his balls should contact the local personnel in charge of removing and replacing these necessary items.
> "Please keep in mind that a customer without properly working balls is an unhappy customer."
