I'm so sorry Mom2 ! I just feel so bad for you guys, hurting so much............
And then there is Spookie! She is out there IN HER BIKINI, WITH HER SWEET-TEA, AND HER FEET UP ON A STOOL, SITTING IN THE SUN WATCHING THE NEIGHBORS MOW THEIR LAWN!!!! Probably! It's 7 degrees here.... but the sun thinks it might peek through and warm us up to maybe 15 today........
-
15 what???? Sweaters????
-
Chevy, Thanks for posting the Dirty Dancing and Greese videos..made me smile!!! In one of your posts you were teasing someone about pole dancing...I actually took a pole dancing class once a few years ago. (A fitness pole class) It is seriously a LOT harder then it looks!
MommaRay, What is SRS? Regardless, I hope it goes well. Good luck with the med switch.
Loverly, Now I have another to drool over..Fiennes..Wow! I also try not to post at night, when I'm sleepy. I'm much clearer in the AM, except now..on drugs. I think we are just, at that age, where weight gain happens. But from here it looks like you don't need to be concerned. You look healthy!!
Jazzy, You must be really busy with work. I hope you are okay!
Shep, Too funny about EX vs Ex! I rarely have a need to mention my ExH (Is that even an abbreviation?!) and he certainly has nothing to do with my bra shopping. Eww! So glad your FIL is doing better. Now maybe you can rest and take care of you!
Poppy, looks like we had the same chemo drugs and yes, I was told that they can cause weight gain. I think all I ate during chemo was carbs, it's all my body wanted, and I was told that was typical also. Yay for you that you went to exercise class..good job!
Mommy, congrats on getting the essay done.
Feline, poor DD. I hope the black eye is healing.
Lita, Cute dog! I hope you get a break from the Big D.
Sensi, Good to hear Chance is better.
Junie, puppy countdown!!
Mags, Did you go to xmas party? How was it? I had BMX in March 2015 and in June of this year began reconstruction with an LD flap & tissue expanders. Monday I got my implants.
Susan, Loverly and Smaarty, Nice picture! So glad you all could connect.
Thanks, again for thinking of me Monday with all the well wishes, flowers and videos. I felt a lot of action in my pocket.. I was glad to have you along for the ride! I'm really groggy from pain meds..so glad I don't have to go anywhere today. Next up is a nap, then shower.
It's really cold outside..20's - 30's and snow possible this weekend.
-
MammaRay - Hoping all is going well. Can you sleep during SRS? I can sleep during anything; during the day at least! May you have a nice nap if not during, then after your procedure. (((hugs)))
WildT - Thinking of you. Are you still at your mom's or are you home? Ha! Just looked up and there you are! Hope neither EX or Ex cause any troubles. At least your done for good with one of 'em
Sensi ~ Poor Chance! Typical man, sticking his nose where it doesn't belong! Hoping the swelling has gone down, gosh that looked scary. We have all kinds of venomous spiders and snakes here. My friends Yellow Lab got bit in the muzzle by a cotton mouth a few months back. I'll have to look for a pic to show you; that snake bite looked like Chance's bug bite. Gaw! That must have been a big whatever-it-was to hurt dear Chance so bad
FartFace spilled maple syrup allllll over the keyboard on the laptop I use in the dining room. He cleaned it, I cleaned....and the keys are all sticking! Very hard to type. Glad I have my desktop and other gadgets.
Anywhooos...
Father of FartFace was taken by ambulance on Nov. 27'th and admitted to ICU as he was unresponsive due to massive sepsis infection from diabetic leg wounds and a gallbladder that had turned gangrene. He was put into a medically induced coma, had emergency surgury and was unconscious until last Friday. He was moved to PCU (?) Monday. FoFF has several ongoing major health issues and his recovery will take months. He has been put on dialysis to try to get his kidneys working again. We were told FoFF would be "confused" when he first woke up and that was to be expected for the next however many days. He was unintentionally wildly hilarious Saturday - who doesn't enjoy a temporarily impaired bossy know-it-all? - and was somewhat more oriented and socialble Sunday.
FoFF did start becoming more of his demanding self as soon as he could talk. At first he wanted to us to help him leave so he could GO to the hospital. Then he would switch and demand we help him leave to go home from the hospital. He has gotten increasingly demanding and combative over the past few days. And so MEAN. He keeps trying to lift himself out of the bed. He has no strength in his legs and can't even stand; heck, he can barely sit. We are all afraid he is going to tumble out onto the floor. My dear MIL has been staying night and day with him.....I don't know how she can take it. This morning at 7 FoFF demanded she call FF. FoFF very sternly told FF he was to go buy a wheelchair and come take him home NOW. He hung up when FF told him he needed to stay put. FF is leaving work early so we can give MIL a break from the hospital. Eeek.
FoFF is oriented, knows where he is and understands what is going on. His thinking is totally illogical. There may be some question of a stroke of some type.
Any advice? It seems the hospital should be doing more or offering information/support.
Not looking forward to this.............. 🤢
Will peek in later - love n' hugs to all y'all!
-
OMG Sheppers! You made me laugh! FoFF?????????? Haaaaaaaaaaaaaah! GOOD one! I would put them all in one room and let them all have at it. Tell your MIL to go buy a quart of whiskey, and lock herself in a room, and drink her troubles away............
And so your FF has to do what they all tell him? THAT's a laugh! I'd smack him over the head.... The hospital probably wants to shoot him. Not a bad idea.
But you guys have to deal with all the FFFFFFFFFFFr's in your life! Put that FoFF out on the ice.... like the Eskimo's used to do.... I mean bring him to this territory.... and just send him outdoors..... Lock the door behind him..... freeze to death in 5 minutes!
Spookie.... WHAT???? You are getting a chill??? Haaaaaaaaaah! You need more than a sweater.... Maybe a Parka in a sleeping bag.... just to walk around the house in.
WildTulip! YOU took pole-dancing? I think that is the hardest thing I have ever SEEN!!! When I broke my hip.... I said I was pole-dancing in the alley at midnight. What I actually was doing was, just walking! And I stepped on a little rock, twisted my ankle and fell like a tank onto the asphalt alley-way! I COULD NOT MOVE. ! Dead in the water.
But it's all okay now.... All fixed up with rods & screws and chocolate cokes.
-
Knee is feeling better and so is hubby. Looks like he's on the mend, he's being a Fart Face and now my voice is starting to go. Looks like I caught his cold and now my voice is going to crud.
-
Shep, My mom brought me home yesterday afternoon. It was nice to sleep in my own bed! My kids have been with their dad since Sat eve, except for a few hours yesterday afternoon. I have a friend bringing them home from school shortly and they will be with me again till Sat. Vacation is over! Love having them here, of course, but more work. They don't have school the next two days, so we get to move slow. I can relate to being temporarily impaired...drugs make me so groggy. I wish you didn't have to go deal with FOFF!! My only advice is to take care of yourself!! Let FF handle FOFF.
Chevy, Yes..I think the pole dancing class was about 8 weeks. Fun, interesting and hard work. I just like trying out different dance styles. That fall you took sounds horrible! Glad you're okay now.
Mommy, at least you can still "talk" to us!
-
is his blood sugar swinging around? Or coming down from way too high? That can do wierd stuff to your head.
-
Yep and I can "talk" to my hubby via text when is at work if I lose my voic
-
Okay, this is what I was doing when I fell...
But then when I fell, my pole-dancing moves were limited...
I just watched Jenna, Channing Tatum's wife doing a lap-dance with him! Holy Shamoli!
-
you forgot to show everyone your shoes.
This chick doesn't mess aroun
-
I don't think I could even try them ON! Hah! Much less stand up.......
I found some slippers for you Florida girls........
-
what in the hey-diddley-ho is going on over here? I leave for. a few hours and it's "girls gone wild"! 😲
Spookie ~ Thank you for mentioning the blood sugar. FoFF is diabetic and hasn't been eating. Makes sense. Waiting for the nurse to come back and will ask her. So far during our hospital shift FoFF is being pleasant. He is chatting happily but only making a little sense.... like all his memories are scrambled up....
-
I had a friend who taught beginning pole dancing. Her favorite was a party for the bride before the wedding because they were all too drunk to do much. She got the same pay for the session.
It's incredibly athletic. I can't imagine being that strong.
-
Lover....my rescue Bulldog Sofia is 5 1/2 yrs old. She's sleeping a lot because it gets dark early. We are thinking of planning a trip to the desert in January. DD wants to shoot more pics for her portfolio and wants ME to go while I'm still not totally incapacitated by Mr. C. Who knows, the way things are progressing in my spine...staying somewhat stable in the abdomen tho.
Chevy....you are too funny!
Shep....dealing w/in laws is a pain in the !@#. My parents and DH's parents are gone now, so we don't have to deal w/that anymore. His mom was a LOT of work, and DH had to deal w/most all of it. His sister didn't do SQUAT, and she used to sap her mom's energy by having her babysit her damn kids all the time. One time, DH and I wanted to go to a b'day party at a hotel (it was a big one for his best friend, and they reserved rooms), and we promised our daughter that she'd get to spend the night w/ G'ma. DH was so looking forward to time ALONE w/her, but guess what happened? SIL decides SHE wants to go to the party as well, so she plunks her kids w/ G'ma overnight, too, and one of 'em was an infant! No quality time w/ G'ma for DH, sadly. And what are you going to say? You can't say anything. That's just how SIL is. And do you think that woman has come to visit me w/my St IV even ONCE since I was dx'd? NOPE! Hasn't even brought over a meal, made a phone call, taken me to lunch....nothing, nada, zilch. I have known this woman for 28 years. That's just how she is.
INLAWS! They can all go to hell as far as I'm concerned.
Tulip....no visits from the diarrhea fairy yet today. I just never know when it's going to hit. (And I get the cramps, too, BTW Lover.)
Gotta get back to looking for dog friendly hotels in the Joshua Tree area. I hope I'll be up to the little trip. I'll have to bring my special bar to attach under their mattress so I can get in and out of bed w/my back.
-
Chevy, I watched the video..WOW..amazing! Too bad your pole dancing career ended. Those shoes...I couldn't walk in either one of them! Did you know that pole dancers wear skimpy outfits because the skin helps "grab" the pole? Maybe your outfit wasn't skimpy enough!
Wren, yes it IS very athletic. It was an interesting beginners class I took, but not something I wanted to continue.
I also took a burlesque class once (i think it was for 4 weeks). I had NO idea what to expect when I signed up for the class. The instructor basically taught the class to walk and carry yourself confidently, but also gave tips for stripping. Be it a big audience, or an audience of one. She said burlesque is about entertainment. The instructor used the name, "Ophelia Flame," and there are youtube videos of her. I didn't want to offend anyone by posting. I've also taken ballroom dance lessons, to balance out the wild side. After my divorce I went through a period of wanting to explore my interests and had a, "what the hell, why not" attitude.
-
mmamray, I am five pages behind. Scrolled through real quick trying to find out what happened to you. Didn't have internet till right now, How are you....what happened? Praying hard...love ya siste
-
we are. Elena has been great. She has more energy than me. Glad you are doing fine. Hugs and prayers for your head to feel better
.
Have sooo much catching up to do. Maybe not till I get home.
Night night
Hope everyone is wel
-
MammaRay, here hoping your headache will go away soon and that gamma knife "sniffs off" those buggars without affecting the healthy part of your brain. Praying for no swelling like last time and that you will not lose your ability to communicate. You and DH are going through heavy stress. Stress tends to bring out the monster in us. We know who the true enemy is, but still hard because of the flesh. Hug
-
Susan, I presumed you have arrived at your uncle's place. Was thinking about you all, earlier in the shower. I wish we had more time together. Knew you and kids were probably tire so I had to chase you to the hotel. Hope it did not seem like I was rushing to go home.
WildT, you wild thing! You took up pole dancing? Ha! I knew you had a wild side. My DH would love it if we had a pole in our bedroom. He would have to use his imagination as I am a klutz. How are you feeling today? Norco makes me not right. I was a happy drunk on it. It was the weirdest experience.
Lita, I hope you can make the trip with your family.
Shep, LOL at your "FoFF". Took me a few seconds to figure what you meant. Boy oh boy you have your hand full.Your poor MIL. People with end stage kidney problems can be difficult. Don't they check his blood glucose along with his other vitals? I would imagine his level was off the roof with the infection. I would think they monitor his sugar closely.
DH is waiting. Good night
-
Ladies, ladies ladies!
Glad to see MammaRay and WildT are doing ok after their big days.
Mo2- just smack that man around a bit.
Lita, glad you are catching a break!
Chevy- i went to see Magic Men Live tonight- saw some of your boy toys dancing their clothes right off! It was both hilarious and fun! Not my usual cup of tea, but, I'm not complaining
-
Voice is holding for now. Hubby felt good enough to go back to work!!!!! Well hubby dropped a huge surprise on me today, I am done with class a week earlier than I thought I would be!!!!!! If I had to take a final for the class it would have been next week, but it was not required for the class, I am officially in relax mode
-
It ain't me! It's all these other girls Sheppers! They go to these classes, and even SHOWS, and here I sit not even knowing what is going on!
I've never even BEEN to a show... where there are live guys dancing! You know, the only time I even went to a BAR is when I was working, and if our guys...(Husband and his Brothers) went fishing or hunting, WE, meaning US GIRLS would go out partying after work! Yep!
We would order drinks, and dance our butts off.... with other GUYS!!! Hah! I was maybe 44.... But we had a BLAST
This kind of behavior continued for as long as I worked! Everytime the boys left, the girls would go out dancing and drinking!!!
We met so young... And I never drank... My Dad and his DAD had that all under control... So I hated drinking...
Then I started working part-time for Pepsi, when I was 30! And me and this gal I worked with would go to lunch and order drinks! 2 for 1 !!! Yep! Went back to work and we LOVED those lunches.
See, after 2 screwdrivers in water-glasses, you start to not feel your feet... It moves up your legs, and that's when you know you have had enough!
ONE time, me & my co-workers met back at Nita's house... after gambling, and partying! She said she wanted to go back home, with these guys, because she was talking to them, and she said she carded them, so they "were her new friends, and they were okay!"
She came back about an hour later, with those 3 guys, and we were all in the hot-tub! She warmed up some spaghetti for her "friends"....
So THEN the rest of us finally got tired of all this fun! We left her home alone in the hot-tub with these 3 guys!!!
Well, the next morning when I called, to see if she survived, she said...
"YOU should have stayed! I thought I died and went to heaven !!!!! "
We never did talk details.... but we laugh every time we think about this!
See? That's what happens.... you let just ONE opportunity get by, and you spend the rest of your days thinking " OMG! Too late now".... Hah!
-
Okay, so JWow !!! THIS is what our JWOW is doing when she isn't busy at home!
OMG! I don't think they had shows like that when I was frittering around ! Or else we would have BEEN there!
-
Woke up to even more news today. Supposed to see measurable snow Sunday into Monday morning.
-
Morning everyone!
Loverly, I feel the same way on Norco! Yesterday I even told a friend that I have to be careful what I say, because I might say stuff and not really remember it. But, after my LD flat I was on Oxy, and I found it gave me horrible nightmares, so that's when I switched to Norco. I still have odd dreams, but not scary ones. I had to take a pain pill during the night, but today I'm going to try extra strength acet. The pole dance class was just something fun to try..years ago. One of the other ladies in class had a pole at home, and planned to entertain her husband with her new skills. Tell DH there are less challenging ways for you to show your love!
Mommy, Congrats!!!
JWhoo, I have never seen male strippers..not even the Magic Mike movies. Good for you! It's good to go out of our comfort zone sometimes.
Chevy, You crack me up! Love the story...while the cats away, the mice will play!!
I'm moving around pretty well..without too much pain, to the point where it's hard to remember not to lift things. One thing I wasn't warned about was itching..I feel SO itchy, but it's inside, so scratching doesn't help. I mentioned this on the exchange thread and others said they experienced itching also. Some said Benadryl would help, but my kids are off school today and tomorrow, so I want to be careful not to knock myself out.
Love and hugs to all!
-
Thanks Tulip!!!!!
Best thing about it is that m hubby is turning in my book for me
-
I plan on it. I have so much around here to catch up on
-
Susan, you guys ok? See there was a small earthquake up there. Be careful.
WildT, don't pick up anything heavier than your cellphone and NO raising your arms. Play t-Rex! Didn't they tell you dos and donts?
Mammaray, glad you're feeling better.
Where's JunieB?
I have to make cookies now for a cookie exchange tonight and something for the pot luck dinner. Also going to decorate my naked tree today. Busy, busy. Been running since we got back!
Bbl

Junie B...count down to birthdays...2 days!
Rant for the day. DH and I go to Costco to buy last minute stuff for the party on Sat., and I see a nice white thermal shirt that DD might like, so we buy it as an Xmas gift for her. It's sprinkling slightly, and DH rushes, lobbing the shirt into the trunk, and he MISSES! It lands on the ground in a puddle with car grease.
I scream at him for being an idiot and tell him that's what he gets for hurrying. Then I tell him to take the receipt and bring the shirt back in and see if he can exchange it for another one (you never know...it doesn't hurt to try, all they can say is "No, you bought it, you dropped it, it's on you.") But he refused. So, I tell him, "Well, YOU'RE going to have to take the tags off it, wash it and try to get the grease out of it, then put the tags back on....." All the while I'm ranting that's WAY more work than just bringing the shirt back into the store.
He washed the shirt and it still has a vague outline of dirt/grease in one area....hopefully DH won't notice it when she opens the package. MEN....GEEZ!!!!
