Thanks to all for the well wishes. It helps immensely from all of you that get it.

I am starting to feel better, 14 days post chemo. I am taking my family on a short trip next weekend to the beach in S. Calif. I cashed out some of my Roth IRA. I figured, now is the time, take a few short trips, on my "good" week.

Susan, I did have 4 dose dense of Taxol the first time. Minor neuropathy, lots of bone pain. The nurse practitioner told me the 1st dose was the worst & then it gets easier, on the Taxatere. I am leery when they say stuff like that, they have not taken these incredibly strong drugs. Thanks for the heads up. Also I got a smaller dose the first time, to see how it went.

Great to see YA pop in Tangadang......

Hiho, good to hear you are feeling better. Beach therapy is always good. Wishing you a blessed and safe trip.

ShepK, love the picture of Marti. She has such a sweet face. Her snout is twice as long as my Mitzy's. Hah! And those ears...

Sensi, in your pocket for tomorrow visit with the surgeon.

SaCat, will PM you the names of the oncologist.

Queenie, I was dismissed by the defense attorney. Hmmm.....interesting.

Yesterday, my digestive system was not too happy. I don't remember the last time both orifices were working so hard to evict whatever it was that didn't agree with me. Didn't know you can actually expel fluid out at opposite ends at the same time. Never happened to me before. Woke up feeling nauseous and thought maybe because I was hungry. On my way home after dropping the kids off to school, my stomach started to cramp up. Thank God I made it home just in time. Better today, but wiped out. Still have the big D, but no more vomiting. I can handle the D, but the dry heaves and the after taste of the gall is just nasty. Sorry Patty, Susan, and Rose for what you have had to go through. This experience makes me have even more compassion for you ladies.

lover, right now I am wishing for the big D. I am not actually sure which I prefer, but right now my swollen and sore and constipated gut wants the big D....lol. I told my hubby yesterday , I wish they could make a little whole at the top of my intestines and flush it with ice cold water. That sounds so good and relieving. What do you think.....should I have been a doctor??? Yeah no!! But I always have ideas

    Pp, how are you doing???

Susan, duh, they're 30 some pages of pooping talk on the constipation thread. A-Z poop. From traditional to alternative --everything in between and some good punning. Did you see the post to send on to the kids on making sure C-section kids get exposed to mom's biome? Still in research phase, but the research is moving very fast. With Andrew being a new ped doc resident, he would decipher the stuff really fast too.

Queenie & loverly what is the talk of dismissals and defense attorney's? Is it a coded message, not ready for prime time?

    Shep Marti's a cutie :)

    Thanks Lover,

Woke up at 3:30 this morning and couldn't really fall back asleep. Got up early for work. Think my nerves are working overtime. My acid reflux was so bad I ended up getting sick. Made it thru the day. Now trying to relax. I'll post once I know more tomorrow. Any last words of wisdom? My sister will be going with me. Mom thinks she'll be too emotional. Got a list of questions and a navigator that I got off-line.

in your pocket tomorrow Sensi. Always take someone with you from now on. 4 ears are better than one!

Lover, hope you're feeling better. Need to do lunch when you're up to it.

Sensi, do you have only one ear? He...he... Poking fun at Smaarty

Packing tonight, 2 hour drive to the big city for the airport, 2 hour flight to LAX & then cab ride to the beach. All 4 of us are excited. This last month has been so very difficult, adjusting to my new fate, watching my DH & kids try to prepare for what's ahead. Train wreck......& then all the well meaning friends that want to help, but can't.

Susan, Miralax, MO wants me to take it everyday after chemo, or taking pain pills. It is a lifesaver, I don't take it if things are normal. My biggest hurdle is the dry heaves. My monster liver is pushing on stomach & bladder. Can't tell if I'm hungry, hurting or what. Any suggestions ?

HI1, sorry for such chit. Ginger, used it when it wasn't d'noveau. Back in 1987, dad was in dry heaves. Hospital sent him home that way. He needed dialysis, but a heart patient needed dialysis before surgery. Poor Dad was still in heaves the next morning. Turned right to go to the health food store rather than left for work. They suggested ginger right from the spice bottle. Went home and gave him some. Right before my eyes he stopped heaving in the time it took to swallow it. At that point he may have been heaving for 24 hours.

I used it a few weeks latter when I was heaving like Loverly just described. Both ends going at once. Stopped the vomiting within the time it took to swallow it.

Studied it. Used for centuries. Likely longer, but forget now

I told twin about it when she had chemo in 1996. She never went anywhere without her bottle of ginger.

Ah HiHo, you beat me to the teasing.

Sensi, it's good that you have a list of questions written down and your sister is coming with you to the appointment. Yes, four ears are definitely better than one. Good start. Hang in there and remember to take deep breaths. Don't be like me and forget to breathe normally when you are nervous or stress.

Ms. Sas, no code messages. Queenie was called for jury duty last week or the week before and she was dismissed by the prosecuting attorney for having spiky hair.

Sensi, I keep a little notebook in my purse to write down things to ask the Dr. and to make notes for myself. I always have someone with me - extra ear/s are always good plus the person with you may have a question or idea you haven't thought of. The "night before" jitters are awful. I try to make myself go to bed earlyish and listen to music to keep my mind busy while I fall asleep. Hope all goes well for you :)

Susan, Benefiber and an evening snack of prunes or dried apricots keep my guts cooperative. I mix the Benefiber in hot tea, cranberry or orange juice. Occasionally I need the Miralax too.

Queenmomcat , The Refuge is a lovely place to be :) I was once de-selected for jury duty years ago when I was in college. It was a trial involving a drunk driver. I don't know which side didn't want me but I've always been upset to think that maybe I looked like someone who was all for driving drunk? (I'm not!) I was wearing my nice "business suit" which was a matching grey pinstriped skirt and jacket........ maybe the judicial system has issues with us educated folks? My hair was such a pretty shade of purple back then too.............

Sending my special doctor to tend to all who need a little extra care and comfort..........

I just remember...,yes, Ms. Smarty, we need to do lunch when my naughty stomach decides to behave itself.

Susan, wish I could send you the excess energy of my stomach to you so you can get some relief. The bloating/pressure is worse than a sore you know what. Miralax is good. Ms. Chevy would recommend aloe vera juice.

Sensi, hope you get some shut eyes tonight.

sas, come on now. You being mean yo me?? Lol. Chemo for life remember.. All our bodies fight and handle that differently. I know everything that's out there. Don't always have time to stay at home and figure out what amount works. I flip from one to the other in a snap of the finger. Not a easy fix. Wasn't complaining, just making a funny for lover. I have been extremely busy getting things for the baby shower, helping my mom, that I can't take to much of anything to completely empty cause it's hard to purge and run errands . Gotta pick your battles sometimes. I have Friday free to see if I can get things under control.

Hi evetyone, hope you all will have a great day. Raining here..but I love the smell of soaring rain. So fresh:)

how are you feeling today lover?

    Patty, how are you?

Going to help my mom today get phones. Gotta out them everywhere. Dye keeps answering her land line in the kitchen and it doesn't work. Portable in bedroom. I don't think she remmbers it's portable :(.

Going to get a lot of them and put them everywhere. Hopefully that will solve the problem for a little while at least.

Boy is spell check behaving badly today

Good morning friends- I am continuing to work out the residual cold. Day 10 now and feeling a lot better. Being able to sleep better the past few nights has helped a lot. Of course, you all know the congestion and night time cough (even with meds) can wake you up and keep you up. But I was able to get some good rest the past couple nights and feel better in the mornings. Hoping with having some time to slow down this weekend will help.

Loverly- sorry to hear about your GI tract acting up. Mine has been too, think it is from those cough drops I am using, it has happened before. I hope everything stablizes for you.

Hol- I cannot remember if I have shared my hugs to you for you on your Stage IV dx earlier this month. Just stinks, and know you are worried about the drugs and all that will follow with that. It sounds like you have some beach time coming up. It will be good for you and your family. I am sure everyone is scared, and time together will help. Wishing you the warmth of the sun on your face and the lovely squishy feeling of sand between your toes.

Smarty- that baby Evie is such a cutie pie. Thanks for sharing the pictures of her with us. Babies make us happy!

Must get to the client site for one more day there this week. Wishing everyone well as this month of March wraps up!

Susan re your autocorrect I loved "soaring rain" - it sounds so much nicer than "pouring rain", much more of a possibility of rainbows about it.

Hey Jazzy, 10 days of the cold is a long time. Sorry, I should have shared this cold remedy sooner with you: place half of a yellow onion in a bowl of water and put it next to your night stand before resting. The inhaled enzymes released by the onion does something to the respiratory tract. Tried this two weeks ago with the bad head cold and recovered in two days without any mess (autocorrect changed from meds).

Susan, my respect for you increases each time I read about your choosing to put on your big girl panty ( officially grandma panty now haha). I have more energy today. Thank you. Just hope the food stays in my unsteadiness long enough for nutrients absorption. Yesterday, as soon as I finished chewing a few bites I pfitt (love the new vocabulary, Ms. Sas) I am learning to wear my big girl panty. Thanks again.

Loverly - old timey remedies are sometimes the best! Never heard of the onion remedy ~ gotta try that one next time one of us has a cold.

Jazzy - I'm not a nurse, but I've seen one on TV (and everywhere else!) Here's some purrfesional advice for you and Loverly:

Oh boy, I didn't think sending you the excess energy of my busy stomach would work that fast! You have the D now and mine stopped. You feel better unplugged? Everything slows down to indigestion now. Crazy tummy.

ShepKit, love all your furry doctors. Cute!

    JunieB, you ok?

    Pattycake?

Oh Jazzy, I forgot to tell you that the only drawback about the onion remedy is that your room will smell like underarm odor, but it doesn't matter if you're congested anyway. I guess that is when you know you are better.

I'm so glad I have today off. Goal is to reorganize my pantry now that my energy is coming back. Therapy for an OCD person. Can't sit still too long. Ms. Sas, you can relate, right? Don't worry ShepKit. I will take it easy ;-
