Mags, sorry about your sleep, sucks , just wipes out the day that follows.
I'll bypass the beating discussion. Too many scars too. Sounds like everyone elses. I took a different approach with DS it worked fine.
Susan here's a link for more Geithroon Holland. I could so live there, except for the cold. Couldn't find much history except it was founded in 1203 by folks fleeing from the mediterrean

Mags and Rose- I had a father who was very charming, but had a raging temper. I got that from him too when I was younger, but had to unlearn that throughout my life. My sister still has it and can go crazy on me when something goes wrong she has decided is my fault. I have learned to call her on it. I was closer to my dad as I became an adult, but tiptoed around him as a child. I think watching my my older siblings take the brunt of his rage taught me to be a quiet good girl (well, until I got older and could be more of myself). I suspect many of us had dads like that. Like Sassy says, being aware allows you to change in with your own families.
Meanwhile in the desert, it is raining cats and dogs. El Ninjo.
-
Off to be responsible and buy some insulation
-
Beautiful bird, Ms. Spookie.
Hugs to you too, Susan.
Mag, sorry about the insomnia. Hope you get to nap today and get some ZZZZ tonight.
Rose, I wonder if Claritin/Atarax (I know you don't like Atarax, Ms. Sas) would help with the bone pain caused by Herceptin. Can't find any studies. IF the bone pain caused by Herceptin is as a result of bone marrow pressure or inflammation, and if histamine is a chemical mediator causing pain associated with bone marrow edema , then there is a chance that Claritin might help prevent or alleviate the pain....just a thought. Hope your appt. with RO went well today and hope that tx will help with the arm /shoulder pain.
Jazzy, don't flow away.
-
so had the dreaded dr appt. Won a big one, compromised on another. Yay me!!
Got my new Christmas tree out of layaway, been a good day!!
-
This is so beautiful.... I cried when I watched this.... The kids teacher gave her a tribute after she discovered she had breast cancer...
-
sas, if I had the time and money I would so visit there. Looks great...and peaceful. Thanks for the lin
-
Chevy, very cool. I cried too. When my daughter was in choir in high school, I went to see them sing before a cancer walk. Didn't know they called the survivors and those going through it still up front. So my daughter never took her eyes off of me as the sang, you will never walk alone. We were both crying. Beautiful moments...even in the fir
-
Chevy- I saw that yesterday on the Ellen Show. It made me cry.
Ooh Spookie is getting read for Xmas! It is two months away now. I officially have all my shopping done now (please don't hate me......)
Loverly- been a big day of rain here. They said we might get up to 4 inches over this three day soaker. It snowed in Santa Fe at the ski resort. Think I am going to find that picture for you and share it here. I like the rain but not sure I am ready for snow.......
-
But before the snow picture. Dia Dos Muertos (All Saints Day) is the day after Halloween and a big deal here. They have something called the Marigold Parade and one year, I played in a salsa band for the event. Check this out, very New Mexico.
-
Wow 4" is a lot for you, isn't it? Like about half your annual total? I'd like that, I hate the mess, and the way low pressure makes me feel.
-
I have my first oncologist appoinment tomorrow. Definitely not doing much sleeping tonight. Jazzygirl, that horse is gorgeous and very cool!
-
Hey, Loverly you are the drug chick--right? Loverly, anything new on the market for pain that doesn't have Mu receptor turn offs? Very much want pain relief, but can't risk anymore colon. I thought Baclofen was going to be great---chit. Thought about revisiting it with 10 mg in 24 hours. Worth a try. I know the s.e.'s now, for me are euphoria, hopping legs, and no sleep, probably take no more often than two days in a row. It was that third day that got me. Or I could take it every other day. What do you think?
Rosie, Loverly knows........
Spookie YAY A GREAT DAY!! X-mas tree in the box on the shelf waiting for YOU. Look on Pinktober I had a question for you
Chevy I cried, and I reposted it on Pinktober. We are so busy about pinking and pinkwashing, it's beautiful to see these children using pink in such a heartful way.
Susan ,you just made me choke up again. You and DD have such a close bond. Ah hah.............another wonderful thing she was in High school, now she's beyond college, married , and prego HURRAH`.
Jazzy, Rain barrels out? Ohh take pics of all the dessert flowers that bloom?
-
Cubbie, Welcome here newbie, Tough things going on. Stay with us awhile and have some tea?
-
Thanks, sas, I'd love some virtual tea!
-
-
Cubbie how can we help you? Enjoying the tea? Must find some chocolates to go with the biscuits.................Tsk, could only find these
Cubbie dearie the page turned.... Do go to the bottom right and click on the next page.
-
Ms. CHEVY and Susan, you both made me cry.
Jazzy, you probably know by now I'm impatient because of the OCD. I'm still waiting for Rose to post a picture of the dress she made for her daughter.
Ms. Spookie, what did you win and what did you compromise?
Ms. SAS, oh my dear!! Can't pick my brain. It hurts just thinking about your questions. You probably know more about drug than me. Ha! What happened to your colon? Don't listen to her, Rose. I don't know nothing. I'm learning like everyone else.
-
Loverly tsk we are having tea, talk of colons Hrmph....Do you have any chocolates?
Cubbie may not know about page turnings. I didn't at first............still must find chocolates
Ah here we go
Have one with your tea? Now tell me what's on you mind? -
Welcome Cubbie Bear. Ms. CHEVY will drop in tomorrow morning ( she wakes up before the birds and roosters) to welcome you and change your name.
What you need is spa tea.....
to help relax you....or do you prefer the garden?
-
Hi Cubbie- welcome to our thread. I hope your onc apt goes well tomorrow. Were you just diagnosed? Let us know how we can help you!
Sassy- flower blooms have come and gone. We are heading into foliage change and hope to have some good picks of the cottonwoods soon. They turn a lovely shade of gold!
Spookie- yes, our average is around 8 inches but we already hit that earlier this year with El Ninjo rains in May and monsoons this summer. Very wet year for the desert, not seen this since I first moved here and we had wet summers and snowy winters.
-
Loverly, doc wanted me to take an ARB because I'm diabetic. I tried an ACE, got some really wacky low bp, have been on 2 bp meds for 30 years that are doing just fine. I said I was afraid of it and wouldn't take it. That my cardio said I didn't need it. Agreed. I won!!!
Had me on Lasix. Was making me nauseous. Going to try something else. Compromise.
Sas, I saw that, first time ever I think.
-
BBL. Got to go walk the dog( she is waiting for me patiently) and pick up the girls from swim practice
-
Spookie " Sas, I saw that, first time ever I think." context? Sabadell. I need to listen to it every so often.
different version . Love the kids

Wow, what a proper tea! Sorry I was away a bit, I was making some soup for a late supper.
-
Turned out to be a good time for the veggie soup, since the site was down.
Jazzygirl, yes, I was just diagnosed a few weeks ago. Still in that loads of tears phase (it is just a phase, right?). I live alone, so it's good to have people online to talk to when things get stressful.
That's interesting that things have been so rainy in the desert as well. I live in the Midwest, and it's been a crazy year. My basement has flooded twice! Haven't seen it this rainy in 25 years.
Lovely, hope you and the dog had a nice walk.
-
Ms. Sas, what did you do to cause the system to go haywire that BCO had to give us all a time out???
Ms. Spookie, hope you tolerate the different diuretic he put you on.
Cubbie, it's a roller coaster ride. I couldn't sleep and eat well at the beginning. Lost about 7 pounds which was a lot for me as I am small frame. I cried a lot at the beginning. The fear of the unknown is the worst. The anxiety was a mental torture. Your mind can take you to a dark place. Try not to let it. I have two girls. They were 16 and 11 when I was diagnosed. I was more worried about them. Didn't want them to be motherless at such young age. I was lucky mine turned out to be DCIS with some microinvasion. Only treatment was surgery. Hopefully, that took care of the beast. Because tumor was ER/PR-, no tamoxifen. Herceptin was not warranted--side effects does not outweigh benefit per oncologist. In a way, I am glad I don't have to deal with the side effects of meds, but on the other hand I really don't have the "protection" the meds provide. Oh well, you just move on and thank God for everyday you are given.
Oh, the walk with Mitzy, the dog,was nice. As a matter of fact, she is snoring right now as I am typing. Haha. We tried this new head collar on her and it works wonder. It works like a halter on a horse. She doesn't pull on the leash anymore. Now I can say that I am walking her and she is not walking me. Ha!! We just got her about 3 weeks ago from the SPCA. She has some issues with with anxiety among others. I came home yesterday to find most of stuffing inside her pillow all over the crate...major separation anxiety. Poor thing. Any of you ladies who know how to help a dog get over the anxiety, please help.

I lost this big long post.. crud. Radiation went well saw a young doctor who didn't look much over 25, PHD in research and full minted radiation oncologist...wow. Anyway I am tattooed and will get zapped Monday. They will do left shoulder, left hip and right femur. Hope this works to alleviate the pain. Fingers crossed.
Jazzy- loved the photos. DH and i watched that Opra show about Beliefs. They had gorgeous pictures of the desert in bloom and all seasons. I have learned so much. I guess explosive anger has touched many of us growing up. sucks..but is a source of strength later. No Mud no Lotus.
welcome Cubbie. now that you have had welcome spa and virtual tea Chevy will need to give you a nick name. Good luck with your appointment.
Hugs to all who need them!
-
welcome cubbie....maybe as in Chicago Cubs...sad they lost, but a great great season. I am from the Chicago area. But you might just like bears...we will see
Going for test tomorrow....ahhhhhh should be used to them...don't you think???
Rossi, hope the rads go well.
I will be in Wisconsin over the weekend for a wedding. So might be off a few days this weekend.
Take care all!!!
-
Loverly, Are you using a Gentle Leader? We fostered a pit bull/basenji mix and had to use one to be in charge. She preferred pulling us, but we liked being in charge.
